Live / Dead by Grateful Dead

I feel genuinely sorry for the people who either can't or won't hear the improvisational alchemy of The Eleven because "it's The Grateful Dead". Are you not genuinely curious if you are listening to this project? Was it too much effort to follow the strands of lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, organ and drums as they progressed, tethered together but on their own journeys? Was that too confusing, you who gave Miles Davis 5 stars? Is this not what this exercise is all about?

Jul 15 2026

I feel genuinely sorry for the people who either can't or won't hear the improvisational alchemy of The Eleven because "it's The Grateful Dead". Jul 22 2026

I haven’t listened to this front-to-back in probably 25 years and holy hell does it hold up. I found myself thinking “is this secretly the best song on the album?” on at least half the songs, maybe 2/3rds. 12/13 were very good to great, easiest of 5 stars.
