Listening Notes:
- Heavy atmosphere (electric, distorted)
- The Vocals as an instrument heavily adds to the atmosphere created by the rest of the instruments
- Can be very sway-like at times, and almost orchestral (Nude)
- All the instruments are really well balanced and crisp. Can hear everything
Candy Says
- Hypnotic, calm
- Bass is FAT
What Goes On
- PEAK psychedelia, that hammond organ tho
Some Kinda Love
- Tasteful dissonance
- I love how cyclical the instrumentals on this album are
Pale Blue Eyes
- Literally a perfect song, one of my favorites
- Trance like and cyclical
- Those guitar bends are just, chefs kiss
Jesus
- Again, just another simple looping that's so compelling
- Harmonies on this one are great
Beginning to See the Light
- Not much to say here, standard blues rock song
I'm Set Free
- That kick is giving this song a lot of SHMMovement
That's The Story of My Life
- Average feelings
The Murder Mystery
- The organ fully captures that mystery feeling
- The dual voices in both ears are so weird, psychedelic rock, rules
- I want whatever Lou Reed was smoking when he made this song
After Hours
- There's something about Tucker's vocals that are sooooo 60s and I love it
- Also minor 4th mentioned
- Symphonic
- Dare I say, prog folk
- woodwinds, let’s goooo
- really like the vibe of john Wayne Gacy Jr. Great atmosphere
- I think the orchestral work in this album is my favorite part
- Sorta show tuney
- I also quite enjoy the calmer acoustic songs on this album like Casimir Pulaski Day (I think this one’s my favorite)
- Has some groovy beats
- Cluttered instrumentals, but crispy
- I like the piano in Heaven
- Obviously hearing some similarities to Discipline by King Crimson, but this doesn't hit as hard as that one for some reason
BANGER, THAT IS ALL
Many musicians have and can shred on the guitar but only the GOAT Ian Anderson can shred on a flute
- The harmonies in All My Loving are so simple yet SO good
- Def my favorite version of Till There Was You
- Lots of fun songs but no real standouts besides the two above
- I feel as if the album so far has been taking me somewhere, sort of on a journey
- Robin Gibbs lead vocals just sound so much more pained than Barry's. I'm not exactly sure why but it feels more emotional, whereas Barry's vocals sound a bit cleaner
- I like the vibe of this album. No songs really stood out to me but I enjoyed it
- ohhhh yeah
- Funkified James Taylor was something I didn’t realize I needed in my life
- That organ is so tasty
- The synths they’re using are just so perfectly placed
- Goddamn that Summer Breeze riff sounds so good on this
- This album rules. The originals are so crisp and the covers are awesome
- thoughts so far are that I really like the instrumentation but that the vocals aren’t my favorite
- This is the definition of a solid 3
- Definitely having a good time with it
- Sweet Emotion really fucking rocks
- Ok I see what people mean when they say the Smiths are depressing and british
- Not too many thoughts on this one
- This song is like one giant warm hug
- Willie’s phrasing on these classics just perfectly scratches an itch
- Banger, nuff said
- Banger, one of my favorite prog rock albums
- No skips
- The Wurm guitar solo can feed families
- Yes should've gotten described more as space rock, or at least this album
- Goddamn, I love me some Laurel Canyon 70s scene music
- I enjoyed this, I think a solid 4
- That power chord at the very start of Words completely took me by surprise in the best way possible
- Wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did
- Absolutely no expectations going into this
- woah, that ending to “the fear” was wild
- Vocals sorta sound like Lou Reed
- This whole album is giving the type of song to be featured in a late 90s, early 2000s sitcom when the leads who have been on and off again for the past 6 seasons are currently off again
- Great start to the album I must say
- I've really been sleeping on Bowie, goddamn
- Love me some fire 60s psychedelic rock
- This will be our year is a perfect song
- Time of the season is a perfect album ender
- I have a feeling that I may not enjoy this album much
- I can vaguely hear the king crimson influence but not sure if it'll win me over
- It did not win me over
- ugh, punk rock
- last song really summed up my feelings on this album
- I'm lowk fucking with this
- I gotta listen to more deep purple
- Ummmm wtf is this
- On paper I should hate this album, but I am actually enjoying it a bit
- It’s like a harder version of the beastie boys
- Really nothing much to say here, just a nice easy listening album
- Not exactly sure what I’m listening to
- There are small elements I like but I’m just not coming around to what this albums trying to do
- Yeah, I'm vibing with this, but like what's up with the different release versions?
- This album is a very fun vibe, just not sure if its my vibe
- I was slightly disappointed. Not their best album
- A top five album for me. Absolutely no skips
- Welp, there goes my plans for a chill morning of music
- I don’t think I’ll ever like heavy metal. Like it just all sounds so jarring
- Hollow is the only good song here
- Never really heard of this band before but I must say I was pleasantly surprised
- I know I ain’t the biggest punk rock fan but I must say I’m enjoying this
- I feel like I'm actually at the Apollo when listening to this. Great energy
- So much power and emotion from a man who will die 2 months after the release of this
- Thats gotta be one of the best we'll meet again covers I've ever heard
- This dude's piano compositions are so different than what I've heard. Definitely gonna need to incorporate this style in my playing somehow
- I need this kinda album gold this week
- Another pleasant surprise
- woke up and saw this was the album for today and grinned. Gonna be a good day
- Oh great, more punk
- Ok I’m not hating this as much as the other punk records
- super vibey and ethereal
- Dang, really liking this
- a lil ska on this fine sunday
- Umm, it’s good, that’s for sure. Not my thing though
- dang, this shits fire. Incredibly unique. Really fucking with this
- Goddamn fistful of love is so good
It’s like a German Fishmans
- Ugh, love this album
- Yeah yeah yeah, I can already tell this won’t be my thing
- Ok actually, Skeletons is kinda fire, might've judged this too soon based off Heads Will Roll
- Major props for the For Free cover
Didn’t know what to expect with this, but I’m liking what I’m hearing so far
- Some bangers on here (obviously)
- little red corvette is a bop (duh)
- just a buncha head bangers back to back to back by just a buncha dudes
- I think I may have been sleeping on Robbie Williams
Kinky
- oh hell yeah, this shit rules
I had a bike you could ride it if you like it has baskets and bells and rings and things that make it look good
I was rushing (hehe) to listen to this one today
Not the biggest grunge fan so we’ll see how this goes. There are some great songs in here like heart shaped box and all apologies but there are also some songs that I couldn’t really care for like scentless apprentice and Tourette’s
She Fripp on my Court till I Crimson King
- it’s like mick jagger and David Bowie had a baby
She Robert on my Fripp till I….Bowie??
These heads certainly are talking. I enjoyed this one more than the other talking heads album we listened to already. I loved when they were like Qu'est que c'est. Huuuuge French fan
Only listened for half of it but wasn’t the biggest fan
Ugh metal, gross. Yeah this was horrible. Had to skip through almost every song
Proggy, also a great palette cleanser after the abomination that was the previous album
I actually don’t hate this as much as I thought I would. I wouldn’t listen to it on my own but it’s much more palatable than I thought
This sounds like a warm blanket feels
Color me surprised when I flipped to this channel
I love how they talk about just how funky they are, otherwise I wouldn’t realize how funky they are
This album is a treat for the ears me thinks. Not sure why he thinks rats are hot....
Very interesting album but for some reason I can’t give it more than a three
THIS NEXT ONE IS OUR FIRST SONG ON OUR NEW ALBUM…AND ITS CALLED SURRENDER
Cinema 🙌
Oooo, these cats are swingin’ baby!!
Another case where the vocals ruin what could’ve been a solid 3 or 4 instrumentally
This soul be a 3 if not for riders on the storm being an absolute beast of a song
Been a minute since I listened to this front to back but must say how enjoyable and inventive it is. Also Paul is dead (iykyk)
This is reminding me a lot of Piper at the Gates of Dawn but still sounds very different. What an interesting and unique listen
This album fucking rocks. Hot take alert!! Physical Graffiti is good!? Alert the masses
I'm really enjoying this. Can't believe I've never heard these guys before. Feel like they should be a mainstay on the Bridge
Pretty average, nothing really to say here
Super groovy
This album is so incredibly cozy. No other way to describe it
I wish I enjoyed the lyrics of songs more
Oooh, some 70s country. We feasting today
Like I can tell it’s good but it just does absolutely nothing for me
Very average
Horrible event occurring: I think I may be starting to like country....
This shit fucking rules. Just a solid rock album. Nothing more
Once again, the Beastie Boys rule.
I'm quite enjoying the samples used throughout this album. Very creative
Goddamn I hate metal so much. The only redeeming quality for me is the drumming, which is unfortunately ruined by everything else.
From another review: “In jazz, sometimes it’s about the notes you don’t play….clearly these guys never got the message.”
I didn’t really pay attention much to this one since I was climbing a mountain. 2/5
This is quite an interesting and cool album. Not quite my thing but some of these tracks just groove
Chaz Michael Michaels IS figure skating type album title
Very cozy live album. I just wish we got generated one of his studio albums over this. Would’ve fucked up astral weeks
Beatles if they were primates
Ugh, just pure perfection. David Gilmour’s bends could bring about world peace if they so choose
So interesting. Not sure what to think
I love coming together….wait a minuteeeee
It's fine, it's formative to the genre, but it's just not really my thing. Still a 3/5, but I can't give it higher
Super groovy. Love me some funk
A very nice album for my bus ride
Definition of a solid album
