Listening Notes:
- Heavy atmosphere (electric, distorted)
- The Vocals as an instrument heavily adds to the atmosphere created by the rest of the instruments
- Can be very sway-like at times, and almost orchestral (Nude)
- All the instruments are really well balanced and crisp. Can hear everything
Candy Says
- Hypnotic, calm
- Bass is FAT
What Goes On
- PEAK psychedelia, that hammond organ tho
Some Kinda Love
- Tasteful dissonance
- I love how cyclical the instrumentals on this album are
Pale Blue Eyes
- Literally a perfect song, one of my favorites
- Trance like and cyclical
- Those guitar bends are just, chefs kiss
Jesus
- Again, just another simple looping that's so compelling
- Harmonies on this one are great
Beginning to See the Light
- Not much to say here, standard blues rock song
I'm Set Free
- That kick is giving this song a lot of SHMMovement
That's The Story of My Life
- Average feelings
The Murder Mystery
- The organ fully captures that mystery feeling
- The dual voices in both ears are so weird, psychedelic rock, rules
- I want whatever Lou Reed was smoking when he made this song
After Hours
- There's something about Tucker's vocals that are sooooo 60s and I love it
- Also minor 4th mentioned
- Symphonic
- Dare I say, prog folk
- woodwinds, let’s goooo
- really like the vibe of john Wayne Gacy Jr. Great atmosphere
- I think the orchestral work in this album is my favorite part
- Sorta show tuney
- I also quite enjoy the calmer acoustic songs on this album like Casimir Pulaski Day (I think this one’s my favorite)
- Has some groovy beats
- Cluttered instrumentals, but crispy
- I like the piano in Heaven
- Obviously hearing some similarities to Discipline by King Crimson, but this doesn't hit as hard as that one for some reason
BANGER, THAT IS ALL
Many musicians have and can shred on the guitar but only the GOAT Ian Anderson can shred on a flute
- The harmonies in All My Loving are so simple yet SO good
- Def my favorite version of Till There Was You
- Lots of fun songs but no real standouts besides the two above
- I feel as if the album so far has been taking me somewhere, sort of on a journey
- Robin Gibbs lead vocals just sound so much more pained than Barry's. I'm not exactly sure why but it feels more emotional, whereas Barry's vocals sound a bit cleaner
- I like the vibe of this album. No songs really stood out to me but I enjoyed it
- ohhhh yeah
- Funkified James Taylor was something I didn’t realize I needed in my life
- That organ is so tasty
- The synths they’re using are just so perfectly placed
- Goddamn that Summer Breeze riff sounds so good on this
- This album rules. The originals are so crisp and the covers are awesome
- thoughts so far are that I really like the instrumentation but that the vocals aren’t my favorite
- This is the definition of a solid 3
- Definitely having a good time with it
- Sweet Emotion really fucking rocks
- Ok I see what people mean when they say the Smiths are depressing and british
- Not too many thoughts on this one
- This song is like one giant warm hug
- Willie’s phrasing on these classics just perfectly scratches an itch
- Banger, nuff said
- Banger, one of my favorite prog rock albums
- No skips
- The Wurm guitar solo can feed families
- Yes should've gotten described more as space rock, or at least this album
- Goddamn, I love me some Laurel Canyon 70s scene music
- I enjoyed this, I think a solid 4
- That power chord at the very start of Words completely took me by surprise in the best way possible
- Wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did
- Absolutely no expectations going into this
- woah, that ending to “the fear” was wild
- Vocals sorta sound like Lou Reed
- This whole album is giving the type of song to be featured in a late 90s, early 2000s sitcom when the leads who have been on and off again for the past 6 seasons are currently off again
- Great start to the album I must say
- I've really been sleeping on Bowie, goddamn
- Love me some fire 60s psychedelic rock
- This will be our year is a perfect song
- Time of the season is a perfect album ender
- I have a feeling that I may not enjoy this album much
- I can vaguely hear the king crimson influence but not sure if it'll win me over
- It did not win me over
