Hey, a decent modern country album! Usually not a fan but this was pretty good.

I didn't completely follow the story of this, but it was enjoyable. And I like Bon Iver
Probably the most notorious absentee from the original list... c'mon Robert Dimery, how have you never heard of Weezer?!?
Funnily enough, today it was December and I was drinking horchata. Great album!
Yes! Easiest 5 for me... maybe would've chosen this as my favorite album had this been on the main list

Oh god, I really like the instrumentals, but really hate the vocals... I think I hate the vocals more so giving it a 2.

Lol, the best version of the album I could find that's grouped together is this YouTube music playlist of somebody recording videos of their record player... the sound is alright. https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_O_AtEsk-y7eSGo79tKCNKl0RgxLqZFn&si=qyPxrk4cN0BXDaqx
Nice! Great album, I'm actually seeing Blink in about a week so good timing on this one.
The Butch Vig production is always so clean... solid album!
About halfway through the album I realized I had not clearly heard any of the lyrics, and had to check if there were any or if he was just yelling randomly.
Quintessential emo/pop-punk album. Got to see this live about a month ago in all its theatrical glory... and it was amazing.! I'm not sure how many times ive listened to this, but every time I am singing along with all the words. So... a great submission in my opinion! 5 out of 5!

I dont mind the music itself, but the band name sucks... like I'd be embarrassed telling someone today that I'm listening to the Barenaked Ladies
Jaco was one of the first bassist I learned about from my bass teacher years ago. Really cool the different techniques he mastered with the bass, and helped change how the instrument is used in music today. Also everybody loves a good lead bass line
Still not really into this version of the Arctic Monkeys. AM was the right amount of mixing their old sound with this lounge singer thing they're doing in this album. So I find it hard to give this album a good rating, unfortunately because of the band name attached to it. It's a decent album l, but just not the sound I'd expect when listening to the Arctic Monkeys.
Adding 80's style synth lines to a hard-core band was an interesting decision...
Interesting! Giving me some mid 2000's British alt-rock vibes like Bloc Party. Will have to check out more of their stuff

Hey, a decent modern country album! Usually not a fan but this was pretty good.
Nice! Haven't heard of them before but has some Smashing pumpkins vibes.
Reeeally not a fan of the constant record player static on every track of this album. I get its probably there to give it more of the old-timey vibe, but it's too present, and a lot of time its louder than the rest of the music. Very anxiety inducing in a way, and I did not enjoy this.
I have a lot of love for this album. Turnstile found a way to make an incredible and relatively mainstream rock album, from a genre that is usually pretty underground and not very radio friendly. I've defintely got more into the hardcore world because of this album... already one of my top albums of the 2020's
Dang, I forgot how many bangers this album has. Olivia just really struck gold with this style of modern alt-pop.
It was a fine listen, but I do have a problem with live albums on here... gotta have something special going on, or even some technical aspect that makes the recording unique. Otherwise we're just listening to a live version of a band's greatest hits, which to me defeats the purpose of doing an album listen.
Ehhh... I wouldn't recommend this as being the first exposure to this movie/musical. Probably better to just watch it, as it was weird just listening to it with little context. For reference, this has been something I've been meaning to watch for awhile. That hasn't changed after listening to this soundtrack, but I'm sure it's a lot easier to appreciate after watching it.
The singles from this were huge, and made Gaga a superstar. The rest of the album is alright, but a little all over the place.
Yes! This was my album of the year for 2024, and probably my current favorite band. The album as a whole is a perfect blend of art-pop with hints of Matt and Mica's prog rock roots. Many of the songs just flow together so well. One thing I think that makes it great is listening to all the sound effects and synths in the background... they just add a lot of layers to the sound and it works really well into the music. Highlights: Killing Time, Image, Death and Romance, Cry for Me. I have a special place in my heart for That's My Floor too, as that was my first exposure to the album.
Blinding Lights is a 5/5 so you'll understand what I think of the rest of the album based on giving it a 2.
I'm liking parts of this, but every few songs we get one that I can only describe as "screaming over chiptune music", which is just really jarring to listen to. Some of the more synth-poppy parts have aged well, but I'm not a fan of the little electronic blips that show up in most of the songs. Its enough that I'd probably check out some later work by Crystal Castles though.
Yes! This was on my short-list for albums to submit, so happy to see it has been added. Honestly, all 4 Wolf Alice albums are pretty solid, but I listened to this one a lot in college so I have a lot of good memories with it. No skips on the main tracklist for me. And they released basically a whole 'nother album via the extended edition. Highlights from that are Storms, 90 Mile Beach, Heavenly Creatures, and Blush. Great pick, 5/5
I was expecting more from Frusciante, considering the only time RHCP could make good music was when he was in the band. Kinda boring at times, was hoping for more impressive guitar work, and the vocals were not doing it for me.
Ah! Ok, I was enjoying this and then looked up the band. I'm actually more familiar with the "Pacifier" version of the band, as they had a song on one of the MVP Baseball soundtracks back in the day. Bullitproof, Great song. Solid, turn-of-the-century alt-rock. I liked this!
This is nothing like what I usually listen to...but damn, when this came out I was very into brat summer.
Yeah, not a fan
I feel like if you go into this expecting Talking Heads music, it will be very disappointing. Which would be a fair assumption, considering the group was clearly trying to make the connection apparent, and got sued for it as a result. It's a very different vibe than with David Byrne, and frankly, I do think it is worse than any Talking Heads music. Having a different vocalist for every track doesn't work well, and the music itself feels very stuck in the 90's, and not sure it has aged well. Slightly unrelated, but I did see Byrne's live show a couple days ago, and he's still killing it! Was quite coincidental that this showed up now.
Pretty bad
I don't absolutely hate this, but... I feel like musically, this is pretty derivative, nothing really special from the 10 other bands that make this kind of music, and I already don't listen to them. I think I read this is supposed to be a concept album of sorts, and I never really got the theme and felt the songwriting wasn't great and a little cringe at times.
Man, Seasons is such a good song. Nice album too!
They have maybe 4 good songs total... listening to the rest of this album made me realize why I never hear more than that. Cant really stand the vocals
This was interesting... especially with how obscure the artist is.
Eh, I'll give it an extra point for being a culturally relevant musical, but I really don't like it as just listening to the soundtrack.
I didn't completely follow the story of this, but it was enjoyable. And I like Bon Iver
I think normally I give this a 3... but I've been on a trail of stinkers recently, so grading on a curve this goes up to a 4!
Yeah! I've only recently gotten into record collecting, so this is the first generated album where I can spin it! Defintely Bon Iver's strangest album, but the production on this is very high quality. This one did take a few listens to grow on me, but I do enjoy it now.
Look, the tracks I was able to find sound fine. But it has been such a pain in the ass searching for the album on any streaming service, cant find half of them on YouTube Music even. Very annoying, and even moreso because they have 3 other albums that could've been submitted that are available. So yeah, sorry but loses points for accessibility.
Not usually a fan of live albums, but doing a full tour of remix/mashups of your own songs was a great idea, and there have been many times when I wished I was able to see this live. So yeah, I do enjoy this live album a lot.
I did fall off the bluesy rock resurgence during the 2010's, so missed this album at release. I do think Blak and Blu is a better album, after listening to this. Though I do think it's ok for an artist to try and mix things up over the years, this felt like a very "safe" album while trying to continue evolving his sound.
Jesus... the Smash Mouth meme wasn't ever funny enough to make a whole album with repeated mashups of the song.
I was a pretty big Green Day fan years ago, but my familiarity with the stuff between Dookie and American Idiot was mostly whatever was on the greatest hits album (which I recognize a number of the tracks on this album from). Pretty solid entry into their catalog, overall. I read from the Wikipedia that all the songs are disconnected... not really a cohesive theme to the album. And it does fine without it, honestly... it's more Green Day, so if you already like them you'll probably like this too.
Are you ready to rock boys and girls? I said, are you ready to rock? Then let's hit it! I know you all remember this one, its off my first solo album. The song that you all helped me make number 1. (That's from South Park, if anyone is confused)
Ooh, new band for me, but definitely in the genres I like. I may come back to this one, but was pretty good for my first listen.
