Roger the Engineer by The Yardbirds
Jan 29 2026

Some lovely guitar licks and a general sound that seems way ahead of its time.

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Jan 30 2026

Some lovely, undeniably beautiful songs, but as an entire album tends to feel a bit monotonous.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Feb 02 2026

Great stuff, I'm generally already a Stones person, and had never until now fully listened to this record. A bit all over the place and certainly not my fav Stones record, but still lots to hang onto.

All Things Must Pass by George Harrison
Feb 03 2026

I already recently fully got into this record, so listening to this was a breeze. Incredibly captivating from start to finish, which is saying a lot, considering this is nearly two hours of music. Beautiful melodies, often excellent production, will surely be revisited many times in the future.

Vulnicura by Björk
Feb 04 2026

Bjork isn't one of my go to artists, so I was a bit skeptical about this, but the production here is gorgeous, with beautiful string arrangements regularly pierced by nasty club beats. Bjork's pain in the lyrics is highly palpable, resulting in a great break up record.

New Boots And Panties by Ian Dury
Feb 05 2026

Highly education listen for me, had no idea Ian was Baxter Dury's dad, and there's so much innovation going on here, it's crazy how many lines you can draw from this to stuff I love and regularly listen to in the present day. Not saying it's all front to back enjoyable and without potential skips, but there's plenty here musically and, especially, lyrically to hang onto.

Permission to Land by The Darkness
Mar 25 2026

There are a bunch of instances on this list where it seems like an entire record has been included due entirely to the success and/or quality of one lead singe. I know The Darkness are a band that are self-aware enough and generally a fun listen, and while this is not the most egregious example of this practice (Simply Red? Really?), you can 100% die in peace having never heard this record or The Darkness' music at all.
