Cocteau Twinsalbum makes me feel like I'm a victorian girl locked in a dungeon about to die of the plague but it's cool cause I'm chillin though
album makes me feel like I'm a victorian girl locked in a dungeon about to die of the plague but it's cool cause I'm chillin though
FYI: There is a very similar album on streaming also by LTJ with the same name. Doesn't help that this site uses the wrong cover art. The original compilation is much much better in my opinion. With that out of the way, this is definitely one of my favorite dnb releases of all time. Its atmospheric, groovy, and danceable all in one. If you like the peshay studio set you'll like this and vice versa.
Amsterdam is pretty great but I don't speak French so uhhhhhhhh
WOOOOOOOOOOO
Weird. Cool songs but not for me.
Awesome guitar!! Janis is a good vocalist. Insane for 68. Blackface :(
Pretty groovy. I don't listen to a lot if 80s alt rock so cool.
You good man?
Why is this on the list. It's not bad though.
Love this album its so awesome
Cheesy but who cares. Vocalist is eh. Awesome synths. I think this remaster is pretty bad. YYZ is great.
Really cool. Love the chamber influences. Folk with a flute is just cheating. Should probably listen to discography.
Walk on by is just beautiful. I really like the monologue on phoenix but it's too long. Overall just smooth as hell.
I'm not an indie rock person unfortunately. Cool songs just not my thing really. Bonus points for lesbiabs :)
Cover sucks complete ass. Music is pretty good, reminds me of primus. Doesn't have a lot of personality though? I like the guitar tone and overall vibe though.
New order definitely make music but they are also completely uninteresting.
I'm nostalgic for this album bc my dad used to always play it and the who were his favorite. The good parts are really really good but there doesn't need to be so many instrumental sections. Also the ending is weird.
First two tracks go insane. I like this a lot more than dubno. Less focus on the vocals make this great.
Really cool. That's it it's just really cool.
I liked this way more than I thought I would. Overall I wish it was less poppy, because the harder moments are really good. Adam raised a Cain is pretty crazy.
It's cool. The guitar playing is really good.
just a solid talking heads album. they rarely miss.
Super awesome. I wish it was a single album so bad. There's so many good songs though.
Neat
Its alright. Lots of noodling. Not sure why it's on the list.
I'm really picky with punk and this doesn't really do it for me. There's some cool songs though.
It's cool
Silly little album
Amsterdam is pretty great but I don't speak French so uhhhhhhhh
David bowie is good???? Literally amazing album
Really solid for the time. Buddy holly is a really great vocalist. Get a little samey but it's the 50s so whatever.
I thought baggy was supposed to be bad what the heck man. You're twisting my melon man.
I want to like this more but it's boring :(
It's pretty cool for the time but a bit long, which is weird for a 35 minute album. If it was like 10 min shorter I would like it better tbh. Maybe keep it off the list.
This album is super awesome
This website keeps giving me folk and I'm completely fine with that
Man. Just like. Its so good. Curtis's voice just scratches the right parts of my brian while the smoothest instrumentals play with him. Amazing.
It's leonard cohen. I wish I could pay attention to the lyrics more.
Wacky album. I like it more than the debut. Sister Ray is a monster as is known.
So extremely awesome. A bit too long but man. Smooth.
Doesn't sound like the cover. Pretty good though. 80s rem>>>
Cute little album
Not really for me. Unfinished sympathy is a highlight.
Third time listening to radiohead. Turns out they're way better when they're not doing pretentious psuedo-experimental stuff.
great mix of psychedelic synths and indie sleaze. kids will live in my head rent free.
Really nice. Starship trooper is a banger.
Cute little album. Such a vibe. Sad they never rlly made anything else this good.
silly punk album. surprised it isn't all that talked about with other first wave punk. better than early ramones or sex pistols. and funny saxophone.
This album is so amazing. I could probably listen to it forever.
Silly little hxc album. Really good.
Not as good as their classic albums, but still really solid.
I mean. Yeah. It's good. It's miles davis.
Perfect for when you are insanely tired after a big day and just want to listen to music brain off
CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@!!
Honestly I'm not the hugest fan of post-smile beach boys. There's a lot of great songs here and the cover art is gorgeous but it just feels off. Surfs up and disney girls are two of the bands best.
I'm picky with post punk but this falls on the side of not boring so awesome yay. Wasn't expecting the synths but they are very welcome.
Some rad post punk with 60s influence. Nice 👍
Cheesy 80s pop for the win
Proto-strokescore
Why is this as good as it is.
One of the best prog albums of all time. Never fails to impress me.
An interesting listen. It gets a little over the top at moments but there's a lot of really cool sounds here.
This is really a one of a kind album that there really isn't anything else like. It's quite beautiful.
Super cute album. 70s pop rock is always my vibe.
it's good but it's still beatlesy which makes it fairly boring
just great. There's a lot of great songs other than the popular ones.
eh. there's both better berlin school/prog electronic and straight up better tangerine dream albums.
its okay. I like creep
Great. Jumps around a lot but I always love the sound of early alt rock
yeah sure it might be flaunty and over technical and wayyy too artsy at times but it has roundabout.
this album and the story behind it are absolutely insane. Keith how
New jack swing and post industrial is not a combination I thought was even possible but man. Janet is awesome
Not just an amazing album but a very culturally significant one. Fela kuti was an insane person. music to get thrown out of a window to.
It's thriller. like come on. how can someone not like it. just like. thriller. if you don't like it how. like it's thriller how do you not like thriller. everyone likes thriller. I like thriller. good album.
rock music!!!! idk why sonic youth doesn't really click with me but still good.
This album is awesome but its too wacky for me to like it as much as other davis releases. I still respect it though
DARKNESS. IMPRISONING ME. ALL THAT I SEE. ABSOLUTE HORROR. Other than One this didn't hold up as well as i remembered. I really like Metallica's proggier side but idk about this one. Jason isn't as good as Cliff (RIP) and Lars's lackluster drums stick out like a sore thumb. It's still solid though, just didn't amaze me now as much as it did in freshman year of high school.
favorite cure album so far. the drums are so crispy. and the bass omg. a forest is top.
now this is the kind of post punk I like. pretty amazing album overall, though I think it barelyyyy misses the 5 star mark from me this time.
aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA a Doesn't hold up as well as I remember. Zep definitely fixed their folkier sound with the next album. Also is it just me or is immigrant song like so much lamer than if should be.
Lot of good classic songs here. one of those albums where you can clearly hear the influence it had with basically every 90s alt rock album.
HELL YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!! THIS IS REAL METALL NONE OF THAT BABY STUFF Solid album it's really good.
I love daft punk. but I'm guessing many people are gonna hate this album on the first listen. It's very repetitive and gritty, and sounds nothing like the poppy Discovery. I honestly don't know how this became mainstream. I only got into this after getting into more chicago house and techno music. Definitely a grower.
Teen age riot is the highlight of this album and just a great song. the rest is pretty rad too.
I wasn't a huge fan of their earlier album crocodiles which I got generated previously, but after listening to the killing moon like 20 times I figured I should give this one a go. glad I did. didnt know orchestral goth could be a thing.
I'm gonna be real I have no idea what he's saying but solid rap record 👍
Pure bliss. Perfects the genre of dream pop in every way.
essential hardcore punk that's as silly as possible. Took a while to grow on me but probably one of my favorite punk records nowadays.
A great mix of energetic post punk and slower 80s dream pop. The only drawback is I feel the 80s digital reverb kinda drags it down at points but at the same time I couldn't imagine the album without it.
wacky.
just some classic cool jazz. props to Dave for using weird time signatures. you already know the highlight.
everyone knows the singles but the rest of the album is surprisingly different. still really solid.
This album is super cute. not much more to say about it.
The original punk. It still holds up really well. how did they write something as good as blitzkrieg bop as their first song.
classic hip hop. you just can't really go wrong with this album. shadowboxin is insane. ghostfaces verse on 4th chamber is amazing
Solid eno album. Most of this is just great eno magic, but man by this river is one of his best songs, possibly even one of the best pop songs of all time. Side note, insane collaborations on this thing, check them out.
A bit more of a classic funk take from Sly and the family before their experimental magnum opus "there's a riot goin on". This one's extremely consistent and just really good. Funky.
good raps, really good production, all with an insane amount of sampling. nice
you know when the rating is low you have a great album on your hands. pretty fun noise rock album, albeit gets a little boring somehow. still a fun listen.
michael jackson and classic disco. amazing combination.
some classic new wave. Just what I needed is one of my favorite songs, but the rest falls a little flat. still solid
favorite sonic youth album I've heard so far. I think I prefer their alt rockier side to their weird experimental stuff.
wow, this one really impressed me. I don't really get the people saying it's weird. it's a bit experimental but the sounds are still poppy, it sounds a lot like Jefferson airplane. the singer is really good.
Highlights are good but the rest blends a bit together. still pretty great, Taylor's voice is amazing and the production is amazingly clean. strange I got this the same day 1989tv got announced.
just solid 80s pop music.
wow, this is one of those albums where every track just floors me. can't listen to it all the time, it's one of those ones where you gotta be in the right mood to properly experience it. but when it hits, man there's nothing better.
I had listened to this album a few times before and didnt really get the hype, but this inspired me to listen again. And it clicked pretty hard. Great album, tunnels will be stuck in my head for a while
Probably the most underrated of the "holy trinity" of shoegaze albums. I'm surprised it doesn't get as much love as loveless or souvlaki, as i think it holds up to those two albums. seagull is a noise pop masterpiece, and vapor trail is a borderline perfect pop song. good ass album
just some really solid downtempo. a lot of downtempo doesn't properly nail the vibe(tm), but this one does. props.
The title track is a zany Prog masterpiece which is expected from elp. the b side is a bit weirder with a few rock and roll tracks thrown in. still an underrated Prog record in my eyes.
just a really fun album. Stephen malkmus with his almost lazy vocals (in a good way) over poppy but still distorted guitars. love it.
I originally listened to this album for a school project. I had looked at a list of electronic music artists and picked dj shadow because the name sounded funny. After writing about the track "changeling", I decided to listen to the rest of the album and fell in love with it. mastapiece.
I was gonna write about how I thought this album was cool but I didn't really care about it, but upon relistening it totally clicked. May move up to a 5 but 4 for now. man that title track hits every time.
Just great punky new wave. I mainly like it for the singles, but the rest is good too.
Third is a weird album. I don't think there's much debating that. but especially coming from the previous catalogue of portishead. This really seems like am album I'd be all over but I only have fallen in love with the rip and machine gun. maybe in time I'll appreciate this album more but for now I'll just keep forgetting about it
Probably like the best jazz album of all time. this is a national accomplishment. the way it all flawlessly seems together is amazing. listen to this
title track is classic but for the rest I think they've done better
Personally I prefer the idiot but man this is such an insane classic. how often does an older artist come back and male two back to back bangers.
great followup to you're living all over me which is one of my favorite albums of all time. freak scene is an indie classic. just can't go wrong with it.
Maybe need to relisten to this one but it was solid but not really that great outside of just like honey, which I think is still a tad overrated. I still heavily respect what it is especially for the time period.
I first listened to this album early in highschool when I had a big progressive rock phase. I had liked a lot of the more technical Prog like yes and king crimson so I decided to give this one a go. found it boring. I spontaneously decided to relisten to it again last year. and then I listened again. and again. and then listened to most of pink floyds discography. it feels kind of basic but this album is just so good.
For a while I really thought this album was carried by disorder (which it still kind of is), but actually the rest of the album is really cool. still kind of mad at it for making me think all post punk was sad goth stuff
I LOVE POST PUNK!!!@ this is a good album, a bit too weird for me but I like the title track and a few others. very niceee
There's some cool songs (yes I like a day in the life) but the whole in between of the album is pure nothing. could be like 4 or 5 songs tbh.
Maybe im a bit biased from other prog rock but i wish this was a bit more technical. The first track threw me off originally but as another reviewer recommended on second listening i put it off until last and i enjoyed this a bit better. Still pretty nice though.
jazz funk is weird. when i want to listen to jazz it gets excluded. when I want to listen to funk it also gets excluded. but this album I feel actually sits comfortably in both. it's funky. it's jazzy. its wacky and zany. epic
man i put this one off for too long. beautiful mix of downtempo, stereolabby indietronica, and old space age pop and easy listening. good stuff.
An absolutely psychedelic experience. its really hard to explain how this album makes me feel. it makes me feel warm and gooey and sticky while also managing to be a bit silly at times. insane vibes. maybe skip the second half "bonus tracks" on the first listen. the musical equivalent of cottonmouth
A bit of a mess of an album, like a lot of class albums it could be cut down a lot. first two sides and train in vain is enough honestly. that being said still pretty solid all around. I need more dark reggae post punk like the title track and guns of brixton
Bad is weird. while it's not bad (even though it is), it really doesn't feel all that good either. it really doesn't shine very well in comparison to thriller, or even off the wall. smooth criminal is obviously the highlight and only song I'd call thriller-tier. Bad (song) actually isn't that bad (even though it also is). The rest is memorable (dirty diana, speed demon, man in the mirror) but it's just like. sure. this exists. I'd rather just listen to thriller. still not bad (even though it is?) I'd see why someone would call this bad. though I do also not see how you wouldn't call it bad. where am i
Wow, nice one. great mix of post punk and classic punk rock, I love albums that cross the bridge between the two like this one does.
Wow, just immediately floors me every time. everything on this record is insane from minute one, going from gorgeous proto-shoegaze to hardcore punk (that drumming!). only down spot is poledo, but ive come to like it over time. love this album.
Just a good old funky time. If someone were to ask me specifically for a disco album I'd send this one and the next one, though I think good times is a little better. still can't go wrong with nile rodgers on guitar.
Devo is probably the best band name of all time. this album is really cool, I don't get some of the tracks like jocko homo yet, but there's also great post punk/nee wave classics like uncontrollable urge and gut feeling.
as of current this album hasn't fully clicked but i still highly highly respect it. it's a little long for my taste, but it's clear a huge amount of effort went into this thing. both the first and last tracks are completely flooring. looking forward to coming back to this when I'm in the mood for it
Solid Dan as always. not one of my favorites as I'm usually more a fan of the albums that have memorable songs on them but still a classic. how they got away with that f word though will still puzzle me forever
This one was a grower for sure. not the immediate funk of remain in light, but has become my second favorite from them. I zimbra, life during wartime, and cities are just amazing avant garde dance tunes. I've head them referred to as mutant disco and I couldn't agree more.
it's some pretty fine grungegaze. nothing crazy but I like a few tracks.
the jazz album to kill all jazz albums. Obviously not the craziest jazz album for the time, but definitely the best bridge of earlier hard bop/post bop and later avant garde jazz. an album for both casual listeners and nerds. not to mention its also just really good. amazing reoccurring theme. probably my favorite jazz album of all time.
If you like the peshay studio set you'll like this and vice versa.
a hip hop album hasn't floored me this much in so long. its 5 just for gimme the loot
basically the sound of the 70s. tons of hits on this. not my favorite, but I can't deny it's power.
pretty solid beach boys album, the reviews are right that this one feels whiter though lol. not sure why it's loved over all summer long or summer days, but it's still brian wilson. help me Ronda outro is funny
After a rough mishap with the recording of neu 2's b side, neu finally apply everything I feel like they worked out on the two records. Psychedelia, proto punk, and even ambient are wonderfully tied together by Dinger's signature drumming. It's pretty amazing how good this turned out.
As much as the zoomed in me wants to make fun of this, it's just too much of a classic. Yeah it's quintessential dad rock, but it goes crazy.
album makes me feel like I'm a victorian girl locked in a dungeon about to die of the plague but it's cool cause I'm chillin though
just a hardcore classic. I think this band would go on to do better things (though admittedly also much much worse things) you just can't go wrong with this one. tons of fun.
This album hasn't totally clicked for me yet unlike the prior one, but I still respect it and it's definitely really really good.
Just a blissful groovy moogy early electronic album, and that's my favorite. Such a jam.
Solid first solo outing from wu tang. Bring the pain is an alltimer. tbh I like the mixing.
Beth gibbons' voice gives me gender envy.
Great early hardcore. highly recommend.
Call me insane but I didn't get this one... love most of wu tangs golden era stuff but this one didn't click.
Classic alt/indie. all the songs are super catchy, even pretty noisy. just classic
cool and funky. sultans of swing is always amazing but there's a few others that stuck with me.
really good grunge before it became a huge thing.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I've listened to a lot of metal and punk but this is still thr heaviest album I've ever heard
I really like the first track but the rest is a little boring
Just bangers on end
Just some pretty classic grunge. I think a bit too long but lots of classics.
Honestly just the singles are the highlights but they're some pretty amazing highlights
never really thought of bossa Nova + cool jazz. girl from ipanema is essential.
kinda fell off since I stopped being in 9th grade. I'll defend metallica their get made fun of a little much. not the members themselves though keep making fun of them.
it's a pretty nice little package. brown paper bag is top tier dnb, and watching these songs played live is pretty great. drags on a bit cause it's a 90s edm album.
bangers. on bangers. on bangers. peak edm. love it.
I'm gonna be a little picky and say that the tracklisting for the A side feels weird to me. but otherwise yeah peak.
as much as I like this album it's incredibly overrated. the poppy bits are pretty great but I don't care for most of the garagey rock (besides heroin and venus in furs). still pretty great, but I'd recommend the self titled album over this any day
tis a banger
I love the klf but this is not the album tk listen to. listen to chill out or solid state logik 1 and 2
steely dan
it's a solid little psych-alt-cowboy fusion
WOOOOOOOOOOO
