1001 Albums Summary

Enjoyed this. Never listened to a full Randy Newman album before, discovered a few tunes and it was a good listen for a morning's commute

Heard lots from Nina Simone before, but non from this album. A couple of belters, not much more to say, it's Nina Simone!

Good album, enjoyed the lyrics and her voice obvs is pitch perfect. I think its an album that takes a couple of listens for someone like me who wouldn't usually choose this genre. I get the hype though. 3/5

Very cool, bluesy swamp rock. Amazing vocals and guitar solos. It's definitely an album i want to go back to soon. Keep On Chooglin is one of the coolest songs ive heard in a while.

Good RnB sound, well produced. A couple of good tunes on that id listen to again, lost concentration a couple of times and not an album I'd go back to but only because its not my type of music. Can see why some would really like It. 3/5

This is sn album i listened to back in the day and didn't fully appreciate how good they were. Up against Oasis, blur etc I didn't really give them time. This album now proves me wrong, 2000 is in hindsight a classic imo. Will come back and back again. 4/5

First 3 tracks are pop classics. Then bar one more tune, its very samey and tbh, boring.

Yeh was ok. The cure are better than this album but its an early one so I assume it made a big impact when it came out hence why its in the list. A Forest is excellent

Im not into punk but this was a powerful blast of what I think all punks should be aware of.

Amazing. The funkiest funk that's ever funking funked. 'Parliament cast themselves as superheroes on the musical landscape, with the singular mission to “save a dying world from its funkless hell.” I concur

One of the greatest. This album is truly worth its place in the 1001. It defines a generation. Not only does it hold up today, it's hard to think of a modern band that can produce an album within touching distance of this. Forever inspiring.

Has to be a 5 star album. Anyone like myself born in Manchester, growing up through the 90s, can, on some level, relate and will have memories connected to at least one of these tracks. One of the greatest British rock'n ' roll albums
