I've listened to this album quite a few times over the years and the more I listen to it, the less I like it. Somehow I feel patronised. Like The Wiggles for adults. Something about "here's instruments for a few bars, now here's me singing my poetry" rinse repeat. Smug. It feels smug.
Half asleep in the back of the car while we're on our way back from a family day out" vibes, which is chill 🙂↕️ Adequate dad-rock. Wouldn't turn it off, but wouldn't be itching to put it on again.
I shouldn't be trusted to give an unbiased opinion as this came out in my early teens and is embedded in my dna.
Holds up. I would happily indulge in this, only just not quite a 5 for me but close. Not completely scratching that itch.
I expected to love this, but found it difficult to really get in to. Took a few tries but warmed up and eventually yearned for more. Likely just getting to it a bit late, but intrigued to listen to the legacy version at some point
I'm a big Bowie fan, but this is not my favourite. Some good ones, started off a chill 3 but warmed up to 4
This is an album I have listened to
I would listen to the instrumental version of edgelord woody's roundup maybe.
Good Sunday afternoon vibes. Not something I would throw on again randomly but enjoyed the meander.
Interesting to hear the early stuff but also reeks of being cornered by someone's dad with a pint who won't stop talking about how he used to hang with Mark E. Smith and list all the "not quite famous" bands he played bass in and how they could have been as big as The Fall if they didn't settle down and have kids.
Varied but cohesive. Enjoyed the meandering of it and would happily come back to the album again. A surprise new favourite.
Would happily pop this on again. Was fun to actually listen to the album and not just the singles. Could see this as a car ride jam.
I can't. Not in the mood for this. I'm sure it was great at the time, but today it just feels very indulgent and the old-style mix is nails on a chalkboard for me.
Realised I don't know that much about Neil Young. Really got in to this, caught me off- guard for sure. Hells yeah, get that fuzz.
Yep. That's Johnny Cash 👍
yeah!
Tried to get all the way through. Got to Hard on for Jesus and gave up. There's just nothing there. I'd rather listen to clanker music.
wanted to rate a 3 but it's just not engaging enough, even if the context is interesting
