1001 Albums Summary

Enjoyed it more than I expected. Interesting lyrics tell the story of kids trying to find their way in this world, living fast and dying young. Great synth and guitar solos, sounds like I'm on the moon.

This was a surprise! I wasn't expecting to hear blues influences among the meavy metal guitars. It's rife with incredible guitar solos and drawn out musical interludes. The lyrics are harsh and paint the picture of a world in crisis.

Quintessential 1970's voice, so clear and clean, especially in the high register! More Than a Feeling was my favorite.

The only song I knew was Kashmir, from marching band. All the songs were 30% too long and I don't care for the lead singer's voice. My favorite song was the 2 minute acoustic guitar instrumental.

It was alright. My first foray into “swamp rock”. Wouldn’t pick it up again. Favorite song: cover of I Heard it Through the Grapevine.

Did not enjoy the singer. Apathetic and strangely out of tune.

Find it interesting that there's no real song structure or choruses. It's a stream of thought writing style. Can see how it would pair very well with drugs. Very Alice in Wonderland, nonsensical, random lyrics. Favorite song: A Very Cellular Song

Big surprise here! Enjoyed the jazz and big band elements. Top notch singing and some great lyrics.

Album was okay. Didn't particularly do anything for me. Flew under the radar lyrically and musically. Did enjoy the 2 instrumental pieces the most!

Simple, stripped back storytelling. I always love a concept album. Sounds like I'm in an old timey saloon listening to a man tell his sad story over a bottle of whiskey.

Not my cup of tea. Frankly kind of offensive. But I appreciate it for what it is. Assumed it would be a 1, but it's a high 2.

Digging the lyrics, they're interesting and different. Each song ends with some type of monologue. Love the woman's R&B type melodies.

That was enjoyable! The album cover is deceptive. It was folksy, dancey, and pleasant to listen to.

What a spectacular album! I can see why it's such a cultural phenomenon. Cobain reminds me of the lead singer of Linkin Park and I get similar vibes from the music. There are many different genres sprinkled throughout the album, giving it variety. The lyrics are random at times, but feel emotional and heartfelt.

Incredible album. Great vibes. Great lyrics. Great grooveability.

Political and social awareness album done very well. Gets the point across with challenging lyrics and great music to back it up. Reminds me a lot of Green Day!

Really dug this because it made me uncomfortable at times and reminded me of other experiences. Autobahn sounded like something they would play at Epcot and the others sounded like I was in a creepy sci-fi movie.

Didn’t care for the rap/rock. Guitar was good though.

Thoroughly enjoyed the vibes here. Kind of cool that the singer doesn't have lyrics. Instead, it's almost like speaking in tongues. I bet a lot of drugs were involved.

Innovative. He is incredibly creative. Each song was a different musical experience with surprises around every corner.

Knew a few songs, like Brass Monkey and No Sleep Till Brooklyn. A little too yelly for me.

I am starting to 'get' the Beatles. Much of their music is timeless, and I could see it on the radio today.

Some interesting jazz and blues-inspired background tracks. He's a great lyricist.

FINALLY a punk album that I don't hate!

Do I even need to say anything? One of my absolute favorites. It's atmospheric, thought-provoking, poetic writing at its finest.

I was very surprised by this one. Interesting sounds, kept me engaged.

Reminds me of Doechii! Very repetitive, but perfect for dancing in the club.

Least favorite Beatles album so far. It was fine but lacks the creativity of subject matter of the later albums. Seemed more straightforward rock and roll.

Pure pop!

Reminded me of Katie, so I texted her, and she happens to have this record on her wall! Bohemian Rhapsody is obviously one of the greatest songs of all time. I enjoyed reading more about the lyrics and structure. Seaside Rendezvous was a vibe, had me bopping at my desk.

Music is reminiscent of early 2000's punk, so I enjoyed it. But the lyrics are so repetitive, I couldn't enjoy the songs as a whole.

Was mid. Didn't love it, didn't hate it.

I just love her voice. This is a 5 star album for sure. She's not afraid to take risks and talk about heavy topics, all to the light, folky soundtrack she's known for.

Another great set of lyrics by Cobain. The more I listen, the more I love his voice. This album is more raw and abrasive than Nevermind, so I'd skip a few, but liked it overall.

Some interesting bits. Didn't grab me though.

Absolutely a 5 star album! Love that this came up shortly after I saw the musical at the Straz.

This one is interesting because I don't care for Neil Young's voice. I can see why he's known for his songwriting, but his voice is just too unrefined for me. Although I listened to an acoustic performance and liked it.

Beautiful, intricate guitar work. His voice is melodic and smooth, and very pleasant to listen to.
