Primo jazz fusion record from the 70s. Hot piano lyxx for days.
Like sitting in airport lounge waiting for your twin prop plane to take you Kenosha, Wisconsin. There's some sweet soloing, and for the dreaded Kool Jazz, I actually enjoyed it.
Smokey jazz.club.
Ugh. Look, I'm a Beach Boys guy.
My ex is a greatest hits person and had the double CD, so I hadn't heard the whole album since I had a copy in high school. Forgot how good the deep cuts are. Garden!
It's proto-Naked City playing Ornette Coleman compositions, I'm in heaven.
Tommy who? This is the ultimate rock opera. All hail Mr. Loaf.
Yasssss Queen, aw hell nah. It's fun for a few songs, but about halfway through I was waiting for it to end.
Why do they sound like they're on Valium? I only knew two songs going in and want to go back to that time in
Sorry dozed off and crashed my car. Brb.
The music is ok, but pretty boring, not a fan of the vocals at all.
There were so many better pop punk bands musically and the singer makes most of the songs unlistenable. I avoided listening to them on purpose for 30 years. Thanks.

Living Colour is my favorite African American metal band. Besides Suffocation.
Never heard of him, and now I'm a fan. Great throwback to the 60s psychedelic soul sound I got really into the last couple of years.
I felt the funk, the lyrics spoke to me, and it all culminated in a 16 minute drum off where the Cream rose to the top, or something.
They may have the Blues, but it made me pretty Jolie.
This isn't music, and I'm a harsh noise artist.
Check Your Head is their 5 star album. This is too corny, and I'm a Juggalo.
Look there's only one Springfield, and that's Rick. But this Buffalo fella isn't too bad.
Not really into 80s goth, so for me it's just alright.
Sexless Pistols.
Better than the Beatles.
The humble beginnings.
Some of the proggiest sounding prog to ever have progged.
I was wanted to hear these guys. I thought it would be weirder, but it's great Taking Heads style jangle art rock.
When Jack White surpassed Jack Black.
I've never known what to call this stuff from the early 90s. Indie rock? Post-punk? Experimental rock? Whatever it is, this is the album that inspired Rodan, June of 44, Shipping News and the instrumental post-rock scene. Dynamics baby!
These 42 mins made me contemplate becoming a swinger.
Pioneers of the rap game, Chuck D. Blackmilitant and Flavor McFlavortown.
This was....fine. Better than expected. Learned know does indeed rhyme with blow.
Always happy to chill out to Stereolab.
I enjoyed most of this, except for the cover songs.
I see Flaming Lips I click 5.
I waited 80 mins fot for 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and it never came.
I'm a Bon Scottt guy, but this album is undeniable. Shoot to Thrill is the best song, I don't care what your Mom says.
Duty Now For the Future era Devo, Beach Boys vocal harmonies, and...Crosby Stills and Nash maybe. 2 outta 3 aint bad.
I always figured Frank Zappa was for prog nerds what Captain Beefheart was for pretentious weirdos. I feel vindicated, and I liked it.
It's kind of like an older and whiter Mike Doughty, who I adore. This not so much. It's tolerable.
I just wanna have fun too, and I did, time after time.
Musically, it's just some organ filled garage rock, but vocally this soars to the heavens.
I see Sly and I give a 5.
The Runaways meets The Cars, loved it!
I'm more of a Billy Joel kind of guy.
I liked the song about nuking everyone \m/
Legend. Instantly identifiable. Icon. Also her singing is good.
I love modern Ulver so I should love this.
First song good, last song good, one part of the 4th song I think, the one with the freak out ending, the other 50 mins were ugh.
Too bad it's not a single LP of Side A and D.
Delete every other song to leave the upbeat ones and I'd dig this.
Well the first half of the album wasn't that bad but the 2nd half is something I hate.
I was in the groove with this one.
More like Vol 5 (stars).
Wish someone had a recording of Seth Putnam going to an open mic night as Cat Stevens.
Real garage rock.
Yassss queen.
I hate rating albums like this. Yeah he's very talented, but it's boring af to me.
Miles Davis is one of my favorites, but when it's 70s fusion Miles lol. Should have been Bitches Brew.
I'm not a country guy, but I can appreciate the classics.
4 + 20 = 420 brah.
I'd never heard the original version of Anything Goes from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
This wasn't Ron Asheton's New Order but I liked it. 3.5 actual rating.
Got a pair of Heavys and I can hear the bass.
This is why they call him The King. I also love bloated corpse Elvis.
First song says it all, can't stand him.
70s psychedelic soul is my jam.
This is very of its time.
Oh boy this is like Bob Dylan and Tom Petty as boring mall muzak.
So I've never heard Jeff Beck before, just always saw his CDs when looking for Beck.
Coldplay and Radiohead had a dorky baby named Doves the Band of Loves or something.
Is she Rick's Aunt? Sister? Ex?
This is their only album I own.
Somehow I'd never heard this even though it's right up my early 90s rap alley.
Troo country.
Trampled Under Foot is the best Zepp song ever. I don't usually agree with Ryan on length, but this could be edited down to one LP to be perfect.
I see Tom and it's a 5.
I never knew they sounded like Weezer meets Dinosaur Jr.
Mellow bruh.
Always wondered if I'd like them. I do.
I promise you I didn't need to hear this before I died.
Aaaaahhhhhhhhaaaaaahhhhhhhh aaaahhhh.
It's like Tom Waits on codeine.
The hill I will die on is that Facelift was their only good album.
Damn, I guess I don't hate him as much as I assumed.
Smart rap for smart people.
I have twisted the night away and I loved it.
What a voice.
I was even more bored listening to this than she sounded singing it.
I see Muddy and it's a 5.
I don't mind it. Feels like I'm shopping at Target.
If you don't give this 5 stars you don't have 5 brain cells.
I can't say I ever find myself saying I want to listen to some Bowie, but if and when I ever do, this will be the album I put on.
Feeling confused that I hadn't heard this before because it's very much my thing and I love it! Well better 22 years late than never.
Better than the Beatles.
I always make fun of the guy, but this album is flawless.
I see classic Purple and it's a 5.
Mick Harris says it's a 5, no bullocks, no circus.
Meh
Yes.
I still have my copy I bought in 1992, and Lollapalooza '92 was my first concert.
Funky white boy music is what the 90s were all about.
Can one be racist against Brit Pop? If so I'm the Grand Wizard!
I see Prince and it's a 🍆💦
This is really boring and soft. Give me Rumours.
Disc 2 > Disc 1
Respect for calling himself Fats.
I like the break beats and the ambience, then the vocals ruin it.
Beatles never wrote a song as good as Shanghai Noodle Factory.
Guess all those jocks in high school were right.
One of my desert island records.
You know why they're called speed metal right?
That flute.
What came first, the Black Keys, or the White Stripes?
The Cherry Thing is a much better way to experience her talents.
I like him better with the funny voice and backing band, but for folk, you can't do much better.
Five-a-delic
This is old people music, but it's very pleasant and enjoyable. I'm also old now.
Atrocious.
First I thought this was Boris, then I thought it was Nick Cave, finally I realized it was Cat Stevens.
I want to punch this band in the face.
If Ian Mackaye would sound pissed off it would be a 5.
Led Zeppelin V
I bought this CD when it came out, in a longbox, I'm an OG.
This isn't Monster Magnet at all.
Born On the Fiveyou.
I am sitting in a room.
I lived in Portland for 14 years and never knew they were from there, but buy does this sound like PDX.
It's like if Mr. Bungle's 1st album was boring.
Can you dig it sucka?!? By it, I mean Green Onions.
More like 101 10.
Heartattack and Five
I prefer Iron Butterfly when it comes to extended organ pieces, but I can't deny I enjoy them when I listen to The Doors.
Some of this is really good, some not so much.
Better than the Beatles.
Hasa Diga Eebowai.
I don't really have a problem with Coldplay, perfectly acceptable music to be playing in a grocery store or elevator
Definitely has some great tracks, but as a whole it's a lesser album (but way longer) than Back to Black.
Did we really need another Randy Newman?
I think this was the last stop on the road to Fat Vegas Elvis and therefore 4.5 stars.
Why haven't I been listening to this my whole life?
I've been listening to a lot of weird techno subgenres lately so this seemed even more boring than I remember from 97.
Funky Beck is a 5, mellow Beck is a 4.
They call it riding the gravy train.
Elvis Coshellno.
I just listened to this again 4 days ago, all time classic, Jackie is my jam.
I'm way more a free jazz guy than a hard bop guy, but for the bop, this bops pretty hard. Dad jazz.
I was expecting this to suck since the only songs I've heard before are their shitty Elvis cover and Red Red Wine. This was fine for a reggae/dub album, 2.5 stars.
2.5 because half was pretty cool and half annoyed me.
I used to work with a guy named Jonathan Grant and he listened to "comedy" "music" like this. It's not fun, it's not funny.
They're as interesting as their name.
Good chill disc, except for the songs with vocals.
Blues Hammer from Ghost World without being frat boys.
This isn't the ELO I want to hear.
When I see the Cars I drive straight to 5 stars.
The Dream Theater of funk. Soulless.
Less weird King Crimson. Like that the first track is longer than the next 6 combined.
If ever there was a 5.
Thinking they're The Who lol.
Hey this isn't a noise albun! But nonetheless, never heard of, and liked.
A lot of the songs have potential, but REM has always sounded boring to me. I was dozing off while listening.
Really sick of having to listen to pretentious British wankers during this challenge.
A little classic rock, a little Devo, a little Sparks, a little Ween. I like it.
Don't drop the soap when the man in black comes around or something.
Ugh.
Hanoi does kind of rock a little.
Has anyone seen Cee-Lo Green and D-Lo Brown in the same place?
2.5, would have been a 3 possibly is 20 mins shorter.
Pre-meme music.
It's great, but where's the "In Dub" version?
Why they gotta put all the upbeat songs on side a and all the ballads on side b? They're both good, but mix it up.
This is so French and old. Delightful.
Smooth operator music.
Rocks and makes me nostalgic.
It should have been Reba. Not really, any country after 1979 is ass.
