Popular Reviews

Trafalgar by Bee Gees

Instead of ships they should have put sheeps on the cover.

Clube Da Esquina by Milton Nascimento

I can tell it's a good work but it's just not my cup of tea.

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band

As I understand it, the whole purpose of the 1001 Book & Project is to broaden one’s horizons, and this work fits perfectly. That’s the extent of it, though. Thanks, but no thanks. :)

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Jan 28 2026

An album that sounds like it has been written for the band itself, not for the listener - and that's the beauty of it.

Parklife by Blur
Jan 29 2026

While I can see why it was a hit back in 1994, I have missed it then (..I was just 6 years old) - and today, in 2026, it is still good but not timeless classics type of good. 3 out of 5, just out of respect for the past and for Damon.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jan 30 2026

Oooooooh, that's a no-brainer. One of my favorites, 5 out of 5 right away.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Feb 02 2026

La la la la la la this makes me wanna get wasted and do some stupid shit 5 out of 5, yay

Stankonia by OutKast
Feb 03 2026

Never been a fan of southern hip-hop. Yet, have to admit that So fresh so clean, Ms jackson, B.o.B. are absolute timeless bangers. 4 out of 5

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Feb 04 2026

It's clearly good, but for some reason I don't feel the soul behind it, only the brilliant commercial production. This is probably the reason of me forgetting this album has ever existed despite really liking it when it was released.

1977 by Ash
Feb 06 2026

nice pop rock but doesn't stick - played it twice, nodded my head and stomped my feet, but haven't anything to my library (though "Darkside Lightside" almost made it)

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Feb 09 2026

Never quite listened to the RS beyond obvious works, and this album has shown me a whole new side of them. This is certainly worth listening to.

Marquee Moon by Television
Feb 10 2026

A Patient Zero in many ways.. Lovely!

Henry's Dream by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Feb 12 2026

This is solid!

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Feb 17 2026

Here's Five for ya Dave! Would've given 10 but unfortunately can't do that here.

Paris 1919 by John Cale
Feb 18 2026

Not much to really like there except the title song. 3/5

Rum Sodomy & The Lash by The Pogues
Feb 19 2026

As a cultural phenomenon, an illustration of how traditional folk music is evolving, I see why this album has its place in this list. Yet, it's repetitive and of little to no value outside of its niche.

Our Aim Is To Satisfy by Red Snapper
Feb 20 2026

One of solid examples of the 2000s acid jazz / trip hop scene, but in a way just one of many.

Smash by The Offspring
Feb 23 2026

Phew, that's easy

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Feb 24 2026

This is clearly good, just not my cup of tea

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
Feb 25 2026

Cosy and pleasant listening. Liked it.

Joan Baez by Joan Baez
Feb 26 2026

I can smell her hairy armpits from 2026. It does sound fascinating though, just not for me.

In Utero by Nirvana
Mar 02 2026

Haven't heard anything special on this one. Two days after can't even remember anything.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Mar 03 2026

one of my all-time favorites

Viva Hate by Morrissey
Mar 04 2026

Boring AF, I couldn't even finish

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Mar 09 2026

First time I hear about this band, and this is good

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 10 2026

Kruder & Dorfmeister are better than Simon & Garfunkel, that's all I've got to say on this one.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Mar 12 2026

The more you listen to it, the more it unfolds. A lovely work

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Mar 13 2026

Didn't like it at all. Nearly puked at the Crown of Love - I guess this is how it sounds when someone's getting a shovel up their ass. There's a shitload of much better indie bands out there if someone's fancy.

Mar 16 2026

My yesterday's album was from Arcade Fire - so terrible I couldn't even finish it. When I got this today, I thought for a second "oh shit another indie cry baby jerking off". Thankfully, it isn't. Thank you Arctic Monkeys.

Oedipus Schmoedipus by Barry Adamson
Mar 24 2026

Well, it was certainly interesting. And I haven't heard about the guy earlier.

Tellin’ Stories by The Charlatans
Mar 25 2026

It sounds nice on the surface, but I have played it 4 times and hardly even noticed. No substance, nothing special, just quality mimicking.

Fromohio by fIREHOSE
Mar 27 2026

A nice and quirky little piece of rock (30 minutes.. let's call it a music pebble then). Not going to be one of my favorites, but certainly a good record for a day.

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Mar 30 2026

Phew, no brainer. One of the best hip-hop albums ever.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Mar 31 2026

Hell yeah!

Let's Get Killed by David Holmes
Apr 01 2026

It's ok though I'd rather go listen to Ninja Tune folks from that time.

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Apr 02 2026

Epic shit for its time and certainly must be recognized, but I just can't give it more than 3 in 2026.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Apr 03 2026
Revolver by Beatles
Apr 07 2026

phew, no brainer

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
Apr 08 2026

It's ok

Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Apr 09 2026

Jah Wobble's bass is good, the rest is bad.

Apr 13 2026

Bunch of truly epic songs that deserve 10 stars each, but bunch of shitty and mediocre ones too... So, as much as I love Queen and those epic songs out there, as a complete album it gets 4. Sorry folks.

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Apr 14 2026

Not bad - certainly better than Donald Trump - but nothing amazing either.

Apr 15 2026

I really like SAULT. Thankfully, I'm from a place that has zero issues with black, white, yellow, whatever - but in this particular case it makes this work's message completely irrelevant and even irritating at times. The music is solid though somewhat repetitive, and the album is overstretched. They have much better works.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Apr 16 2026

Never heard of her - damn this is good!

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Apr 17 2026

As I understand it, the whole purpose of the 1001 Book & Project is to broaden one’s horizons, and this work fits perfectly. That’s the extent of it, though. Thanks, but no thanks. :)

1984 by Van Halen
Apr 20 2026

I can get it why many people like this - but it just isn't for me. Too many high tones, and those stupid synths.. Meh. I'd rather go with Motorhead.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Apr 21 2026

It was an ordinary Monday morning at work when I opened 1001 and got this album.. It is a good Monday morning now.

Survivor by Destiny's Child
Apr 24 2026

Lol wtf is this doing here.. though why not? I had some fun! Kidding aside, BK is pulling this off, I'd like it more if it were a solo acapella. Though again, who am I kidding, I wouldn't have liked it more.. Btchs got me confused

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Apr 28 2026

I’m sure it was an amazing night and the music is great, but listening to a live recording is like drinking lukewarm tea. It fails to capture the physical vibe, yet it's cluttered enough to obscure the intricacies

Chore of Enchantment by Giant Sand
Apr 29 2026

Never heard of these folks. Sounds dull and cheesy at times. Stopped at song 9 as found no reason to continue.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Apr 30 2026

Phew...

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
May 01 2026

Were I born in US in 50s, I'd probably react differently, but today for me it's a complete miss. Dated poorly and has little to no relevance outside of its homebase. Right after this album ended, Spotify switched me to Joni Mitchell's Blue, issued on the same year, part of the same 1001 list, and boy that work is soooo much better! Cheers Dolly, I have places to be.

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
May 04 2026

She's something, ain't she? But 3 straight hours of Ella, damn, that's way too much in 2026.

Dirty by Sonic Youth
May 06 2026
Want One by Rufus Wainwright
May 07 2026

Some pleasant pop, I'd definitely prefer this over, say, BTS, but not much to highlight or add to my rotation either.

May 08 2026

I haven't heard of these guys before (despite Spotify identifying my listening age as 89). This album was quite good but nothing special really, so I read the reviews and someone from the band's fans suggested to listen to their other album instead, Zen Arcade. And boy that's a completely different - and much better (to my taste) beast. So I'm putting 4 not really for this particular album but for the brand itself.

May 13 2026

This is exactly why I like this list. I’d never heard of this group before, and their sound is not ordinary. While I didn't care for every track and won't be putting them on repeat, it was a great discovery. Interestingly, I caught a lot of familiar elements - hard to say who influenced whom - and overall, it was a pleasant listening experience. A strong four stars.

Hot Shots II by The Beta Band
May 14 2026

I've played it three times and, while I’ve been mildly enjoying some parts, the whole thing keeps slipping away - like being flashed by the Men In Black after every tune. A release so amazingly dull, that it becomes a masterpiece in that aspect. Now I know how sparrow's fart sounds like.

Clube Da Esquina by Milton Nascimento
May 15 2026

I can tell it's a good work but it's just not my cup of tea.

Tommy by The Who
May 18 2026

Proto-Queen. Like it!

The Bends by Radiohead
May 25 2026

Much better than Girls Against Boys album of the same time period and somewhat similar style that I received the day before. And generally a good work, although I'm not a fan.

Odelay by Beck
May 26 2026

Some tunes are not bad at all, though it is too inconsistent.

Scum by Napalm Death
May 27 2026

Well, at least all tracks are short

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Jun 02 2026

I got this album the next day after listening to their offspring Spiritualized - too much space shit in a row, so 2 points and I'm out without any regrets and without even finishing this 2-hour record. My ears hurt. Pew pew.

Bummed by Happy Mondays
Jun 03 2026

3 songs in, and I'm out, wtf is this moaning

Spiderland by Slint
Jun 04 2026

It’s a good thing I don’t have any heroin on hand, otherwise I’d have started using around the third song.

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson
Jun 05 2026

Detaching the art from the artist (and Reznor is super prominent here anyway), I thoroughly enjoyed this weird, twisted, and energetic work. Could've been shorter though, some tracks are fillers.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Jun 08 2026

OD-ed Fleetwood Mac trying to conceive Scissors Sisters or what? While I have never been a fan of The White Stripes, I can't deny that they are talented and have solid songs - but this album is just bad (and the moustache doesn't make it any better..)

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Jun 09 2026

After this, my average score on this platform will significantly drop. I've been trying to find something positive in all these mediocre britpoppers, conceptual space rock hippies, and indie fartrockers, but nope, no more, thank you, 1 star it is.

Manassas by Stephen Stills
Jun 10 2026

Stephen steals your time with this polished yet very dull work

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jun 11 2026

Yesterday I had Stephen Stills' "Manassas" album, and it was much worse. Well, not really worse, but boring AF. This is much better.

Pornography by The Cure
Jun 15 2026

I prefer their other works

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Jun 18 2026

phew, that one's easy

Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra Banhart
Jun 19 2026

At first I thought I kind of like it. But then I listened to it again and no, I don't. It's not terrible though.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Jun 24 2026

phew, no brainer

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Jun 25 2026

I've heard of Ozomatli (and some of their work), but they never really made it to my playlist. Now, listening to this one as part of the project, I see all the right names but this just doesn't click, something's missing. Can't say they're bad either, though, but would prefer Quantic or Orishas.

Trafalgar by Bee Gees
Jun 26 2026

Instead of ships they should have put sheeps on the cover.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jun 29 2026

no brainer

Africa Brasil by Jorge Ben Jor
Jul 02 2026

I've heard Taj Mahal before but for some reason never went to listen to the artist - damn that's a mistake! Anyway, better late than never. This is very good.

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Jul 03 2026

Not in the mood to write anything meaningful here.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Jul 06 2026

Just for Weird Fishes and 15 Steps alone this deserves a 5.
