It is not my kind of music which I like. For me sounds like a part of punk.

2.5 | De vuelta al Garage Revival. Me agradó más que el debut de los White Stripes. A pesar de eso, sufre de lo mismo que mencioné sobre todas estas bandas de inicios de los 00s, todas las canciones muy similares un bloque de sonido agradable pero poco distinguible tanto dentro del disco como entre bandas; hacer un análisis por canción sería casi inútil, todo se resumiría a "suena bien, no espectacular." Par de cosas que me resaltan del grupo; su sonido de hecho es ligeramente más distinguible a otras bandas; creo que en ellos se siente realmente un poco más lo central del punk, se siente más lo amateur de la producción y lo ligeramente más crudo de su sonido. Los escucho, veo sus fotos y se me hacen la banda esencial de hipsters de Williamsburg (hablando a ciegas, no se realmente de dónde sean), se escuchan con una actitud de superioridad y un intento de shockear que supongo habrá habido grupos de preadolescentes en su momento les habrá pegado en la forma correcta. Instrumentalmente se oye muy bien, aunque su obvia exageración en que se oiga todo supercasero llega a sentirse un poco pretensioso. La voz.... la voz tengo un problema... Es interesante... es buena.... Es una copia casi carbon de la Siouxsie and the Banshees pero en extremo sexualizada, gime y puja sin parar, parece que está teniendo un orgasmo todo el tiempo... es interesante pero si llega a cansar. Siouxsie podía impostar un grado de oscuridad a la música... aquí parece que solo es gemidos de coger sin parar (lo cual cuadra con las letras que son casi desechables). Disco bastante decente, no se trata de alargar de más, pero sufre de muchos traspiés del género y época y un par de otros propios.

First song impressions - loud and raw and stripped-down. Reminds me of the White stripes/Black keys/Hives/Strokes era of rock music, and I like it. Punk as fuck 🤘 Track 3 kinda a mess. Track 4 a bit more melodic and funky, singer working herself into a frantic state by song’s end. Wait....they dont love you like I love you... now-ow-ow-now-ow-ow. Brings back fun Rock Band memories :)

Not bad a little noisy

Very rock punk vibe at the start and leads into a very slow beautiful sound. The slower songs are still a great listen even after almost 20 years.

A bit of a challenging listen, but unique, energetic, and has enough engaging tracks to make it worth spinning.

Un garrotazo. Fuerte, simple y a lo que va. La música es simple y poderosa la mayor parte del tiempo, aunque a veces baja de revoluciones, sin perder su esencia punketosa. Los coros mantienen también esta misma directriz. Para balancear viene Maps, hitazo y mi preferida del disco, junto con Y control. Crudo y honesto, se lleva 3.5 estrellas, que suben a 4 porque aunque no me encanten todas las canciones por sí solas, forman 39 minutos coherentes en los que en varias ocasiones te puedes descubrir haciendo headbanging sin darte cuenta. This is a more modern album than I’ve listen to previously. I can respect the punk sound n most of this album is a good listen. Overall not something I would play although I probably have a few of there radio hit songs in my library

I mean, it rocks, and it's tuneful. But it feels rather Pitchfork-y, and maybe not something that will resonate in 20 years. I might listen to again to see if I'm wrong.

Gostei de algumas músicas "Y control" e "Modern Romance" mas não é bem meu estilo. Prefiro músicas mais calmas.

Great early 00's rock album. Rich is a really good punk song. Early album is filled with some good punk music, but they kind of run together a bit. Maps and Y Control are stand outs for sure

Ya conocía este álbum desde hace años (de hecho algunas canciones las tengo entre mis favoritas), y me sorprendió mucho encontrarlo aquí, porque así tuve la oportunidad de escuchar el disco completo de nuevo. Desde el punto de vista musical, me gusta el tema "estridente", como metálico, que le dan a los instrumentos y la voz. Es un sonido "casi" saturado, pero que no es para nada cansado. Otra cosa que me gusta del disco es la combinación de canciones tan frenéticas y alocadas como Date with the Night o Tick, pero también temas serios y tristes como Maps o Poor Song, sin embargo esto no hace que las canciones sean menos energéticas. No sé por qué no había escuchado este disco completo de nuevo desde hace tanto.

Mi novia la fea. Como no lo había escuchado de nuevo completo, llevaba años sin escuchar mas de 2 rolas de ese disco. Me gusta mucho esa onda que traían de banda de garage, muy estridente y crudo, lleno de energía desde el principio, escuchas el sinte y ya mueves la mata. A pesar de que se la pasa gritando y gimiendo no se siente saturado y cansado como Dylan por ejemplo

De todos los que hemos oído hasta ahora, estos son los únicos que he visto en vivo, recuerdo que me aburrieron, pero el disco por sí mismo me gustó mucho. Me imaginaba que iba a ser un tanto repetitivo, porque eso recuerdo del concierto, pero la verdad es que tiene al menos tres muy buenas rolas ('Maps', 'Date With The Night' y 'Y Control') y el resto no es malo. Creo que se distingue de la avalancha de grupos de su época por la voz de mujer y eso les aseguró unos años más de éxito.

Pretty ahead of its time for 2003. Maps is obviously a big tune.

I actually enjoyed this album and recognize a couple of songs on it too. Listening to the album I got a feel that the album was more into a Nirvana grundge feel. It was good clean vocals and well versed so I enjoyed the lyrics more than the tune that was used.

Every track sounds like it could have been in a Sony Bravio advert. Not familiar with the band, they remind me a bit of The Pretty Reckless.

Halfway through the album and it's a spunky piece that perfectly fits the punk rock sphere. Doesn't much appeal to me. So far 2/5 After finishing the album I have a slightly better opinion. It's refreshing to hear a female rock voice. 3/5

I liked this one a lot more than I expected to at first. It's sort of grunge/garage rock style and the lead vocalist is a woman. The album itself is somewhat short (36 ish minutes) and not at all a bad listen.

I always kinda liked Maps from the radio. First heard the whole album when I had a roommate with it and it grew on me. Still takes me back to those days.

Some catchy tunes on this one. Karen O's distinct vocals are key in making these indie/garage punk-y worth listening to.

A few nice melodic moments but overall to distorted and messy for my taste.

Great songs and energy. Love the vocal delivery, and guitars holding it all together. Not so sure about some of the lyrics.

Cold light is okay, most is just garage rock without sounding cheap. Its okay but i don't know what makes it special. Wikipedia calls it dance mix with rock and that is a decent description. quite up tempo

Good album

The first word that comes to mind when describing this album is "fun." It's all kinds of post-punk, neo-grunge, alt-rock, fem-fronted fun. It's pretty much right up my alley. That said, it does get docked a star because some of the songs have amazingly dumb lyrics while others have amazingly brilliant lyrics. But, overall, it's a super great record.

I really like Karen O, but I kinda feel like she's a bit wasted in the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. This album has some bright spots, but overall, it's just okay. Best track: Maps

What a fucking debut. sick riffs with karen's beautiful voice. made me interested to dive into their discography.

It was good, I personally thought most of the songs the girl was just screeching. Like the cardi B of punk rock. Still punk rock so music was fine.
