Great, it’s a classic. We listened while we read and enjoyed it. ***

Well mostly recognisable songs, sounding a bit samey, but in 1957 that would have been so cool and different. My parents were in their early twenties then and would have been used to going to dances with big band music. This would have been a totally new sound and paved the way for what was to come as well as helping a new generation break free from the status quo. 3*

This was a more tuneful sort of rap than some but by the end of the album the tracks were beginning to sound very similar. It was alright but I wouldn’t seek it out again. I’m going to be hard and give it 2*

I can see how this might make the cut for being culturally significant in the way that an album of sea shanties might be but I thought it was a strange choice. Having said that I appreciated the history of it and even recognised at least one track. It wasn’t awful by any means so a generous 3*

It’s not even 7.30 am yet and this album has had me in tears three times already ! It’s hugely emotionally nostalgic for me as we played it all the time when we were first going out with each other. Yes is my favourite supergroup, even over Pink Floyd and so for these reasons and more it has to have 5* and I will continue playing it for the rest of the day !

Classic album with lots of anthemic tracks 4*

Roxy Music had a totally different sound to any other band when they burst on the scene. Virginia Plain was brilliant in the 70s and still stands the test of time today. However the rest of the album was fairly average.....or perhaps that was just my mood. 3*

My best friend & I used to listen to all the Beatles albums we could lay our hands on and this was one of them. Very contemporary sound for an album made in 1966 and that was the "power"of the Beatles who paved the way for so many artists. Some real classics so 4*

What a weekend banger !!!! We remember the controversy when Frankie broke into the charts. We first saw them on The Tube, which itself was controversial, and that was subsequently banned ! Well more melodic than some of the other rap albums we’ve been subjected to. I still resent having M......F......... and worse shouted at me during the course of a song. I wouldn’t choose to listen again so 2*

The music was alright but the singer couldn't sing ! Consequently I enjoyed the instrumental elements of the album. That's going to be tough to rate ? I’m going a harsh 2*

It was difficult to find the album on my device at first. It was a good album with a bit of jazz funk. I wasn’t concentrating but I enjoyed it. 3*

Incubus remind me of Tom so they get a 3* straightaway. None of these tracks were the ones I particularly remember but they have a good sound. I was just too busy and distracted to really appreciate them. 3*

This was a bit different. I’d never heard of them before but they sounded different on some tracks, like they were channeling bigger bands. Quite listenable so 3*

Well as far as rap albums go this was one of the better ones in that there was at least some decent music in the background. Not amazing but listenable for the most part. I’m still going to give it a harsh 2*. It’s just not my genre.

My heart sank when I saw this was the weekend album but actually it wasn’t that bad. Quite a haunting sound but not unpleasant. A surprising 3*

I like Talking Heads singles and David Byrne. The sound is quite distinct but this album didn’t really grab me. Not quite a 2 but a low 3

I enjoyed the first few tracks but it eventually descended into a cacophony which I wasn’t enjoying. I wouldn’t seek it out again so I’m going to be harsh, 2*

I didn’t listen to the album in it’s entirety but it reminded me of Nick Cave or Iggy Pop and I’m not great fans of either. Perhaps I would have enjoyed it better if I felt better? Anyway, 2*

A classic album. Very nostalgic and she has a lovely voice. I only wish I could have listened to it again. Originally I was thinking 4* but truly maybe it’s a high 3*

When I saw it was Queen I was pleased but apart from the obvious big tracks I was slightly disappointed by the rest of the album. I’m going 4* but only just !

Love the Stereo MCs so was pleased to see this as the album of the day. However I had lots of interruptions while trying to listen but the tracks weren’t as good as the ones we usually listen to. I’d thought I was going to give 4* but for this album maybe higher 3* is a better grade !
