The MonkeesFantastic pop album no complaints
Fantastic pop album no complaints
The arguable peak of blues rock, Janis Joplin’s voice is absolutely vibrant and aggressive. You can almost smell the late 60s on this record. 👍
One of the greatest albums of all time. A top 10 in Hip hop a blueprint for current rap. 10/10
I wasn’t familiar with Boston until recently but these songs really slap
Although, side 1 is not my favourite, side 2 is full with beautiful but long tracks like Kashmir and trampled under my foot. Kashmir especially is probably one of the best led zeppelin songs ever, as well as in my time of dying which is also a 8 minute thriller. Robert plant constantly has amazing boosts of energy scattered variously throughout the album making it incredibly entertaining! As well as the constantly refreshing solos from page in what it seems like every track. Side 3 also has a few highlights like ten years gone which is my personal favourite of the album. Lastly, the album finishes strongly with a classic led zeppelin song “ sick again” overall there is a layer of consistency with some brilliant songs, however some songs seemed a bit dragged out and sometimes this made the album feel dreary and repetitive, apart from that I loved the album and I would give it a 8.4 out of 10!
Enjoyed it, was a bit much at times by overall the melodies and solos were excellent, my fav tracks were Billion dollar babies and unfinished sweet. Some necrophilia and sexual assault though so it was a bit much personally I’d give it a 7.6 out of 10
Didn’t love or hate any of the songs but my fav was ambulance blues, 7.5 out of 10
Amazing
Brilliant combination of different genres like pop soul and rock as well as many jazz elements. Two highlights for me is the exquisite drumming and princes always fabulous scat singing as well as his charming falsetto and youthful vigor and energy. My favourite tracks were hot thing, adore, slow love, sign of the times and housequake. But honestly the whole album was incredible and Prince always keeps me listening and entertained. My fav so far, I’d give it a 9.3 out of 10 as I didn’t love every track but still pretty good lol 👍
nice chill and relaxed. Liked the album quite a lot, a stark contrast to something like g funk
Some insanely catchy songs but apart from that pretty meh
Catchy 80s album great licks and solos, classic Van Halen.Fav songs jump and kissed the teacher
Best tracks were banging, but some some songs were a small dip in quality, favs were rehab and back in black
Good album but I don’t like fractured country lol. Favs were chivalry and lost highway
Sometimes haunting, but also some good pop tracks on their
Beautiful covers- Jonny Cash style as well as nostalgic rendetions of his old songs. My favourite were hurt and hung my head. But the album finishes stunningly with We will meet again almost like a goodbye and a stamp on his legendary status and legacy. 🙂
Just classic Cash but in my opinion not some of his best songs
I’m not a big fan of jazz but this album was incredible from the brass to the strings, it was 1 hour 45 minutes that was worth it. I liked all on the tracks 😊
Pretty good for an album with no words lol, but other that pretty meh 😑
Side A was brilliant but Side b was a bit meh few duds, overall 7.7 alt rock 👍. Cover art has quite a story as well 😅
Not what I would normally listen to but very good early punk
Some good tracks but a bit meh especially for like the best 1001 albums of all time
Very simple yet beautiful my fav track was Suzanne
Almost perfect pop and love songs
Perfect folk album
So catchy and filled with raw energy and rambunctious vocals p, absolutely love it! I’d give it a 9.5 out of 10!
Great metal album, some insane guitar parts and I really embrace the dark magic vibe! Fav tracks were black sabbath and evil Woman
Beautiful bossa nova there was seamless transitions between the tracks, absolutely loved it! Her voice was amazing, and I loved all the tracks!
I’ve always loved the sitar interesting to listen to it for a full album!
Good combination of genres( reggae and pop) but the songs are just mid in my opinion. Also the dudes Scottish not Jamaican lol
Just not my type of album it didn’t flow right for me
Great melodies, loved the way they incorporated jazz ska and reggae a reggae classic! Main Critism was it was two long :(
My favourite stones album, so rooted in blues and country yet modern and distinctive, it deserves most of these stars just for gimme shelter it’s that good, Fav tracks were gimme shelter and live with me
Classic hip hop album. I love Kanye deeply humorous yet still deeply complex lyrics about themes such as racism and love, while still maintaining his iconic braggadocius flow and character in the songs. The production is superb as well as unique. I great shift from gangsta rap as well, if we are referencing the times. My fav tracks were Slow jams, we don’t care and two words with an honourable mention to, it all falls down which is the most catchy :)
Great mix of electronic music but also adding to the the current trend of the late 90s making. It extremely commercially successful, I personally don’t like the music but I appreciate it and it’s pop culture
Classic funk album, classic
Decent rock album nothing special in my opinion
A great live album, one of the best. I love the Allman Brothers Band and this is a classic record
Classic rock with the simple yet refreshing rock formula, no tracks stander out for me but I still enjoyed the record! I’ve got nothing against steely Dan
Love this album filled with classics like wild wood and sunflower especially loved the drumming, and the acoustic guitar. My favorite track was wild wood
One of my favourite folk albums beautiful subject matter about crime and pain in america. It’s so raw and insensitive because of the fact That all the songs are demos. Nebraska and Atlantic City are amazingly good, I love this album
I dont love or hate any of the songs I just wasn’t interested the whole album so a bit meh for me
Personally I didn’t love this album but I understand why’d it’s so popular
Great post pink album no honest complaints I just don’t like post punk. I respect it though 🙃
Great pop record, take on me is a classic lol
Fantastic pop album no complaints
Don’t speak French but it mixes great garnered like funk rap and soulful. I’m sure it would be a 5 if I knew what he was taking about
Many would consider this unpopular pop but I love it the arrangements are beautifully presented and you can sense Todd Rudgrens production presence. A mix of genres like psychedelic rock and alternative pop, as well as a sound I can only describe as spacey, I love this record! My favs were Dear God and The meeting place!
The album flowed together very well but to be honest I only liked a few tracks and otherwise it was pretty meh
I’m going to be honest I hated this album
A bit different with some world music and hip hop but not for me I wouldn’t listen again
Some of the best spacey rock I’ve ever heard. The instrumentals that take up the large majority of the songs on the album or poignant and filled with tangy riffs and chords simple yet effective. It’s really feels like a immersive experience. There are some epic tracks on here like diamond and Wish you were here. Overall I loved the album!
Fantastic group of folk songs mixed with a tinge of jazz and country, interesting he was dating Joni Mitchell at this point. There was some strong tracks but it isn’t a five stars for me:)
Rambunctious and filled with grit otherwise pretty eh 😂
Like a soundtrack to nothingness
Supposed to be from the future but just sounds weird and out of place 🥱
Decent disco but nothing special for me
I’m a massive fan of folk but in my opinion rod Stewart is so mediocre but no redeeming qualities. Maggie may is decent but still, this album could be better
This album has some of the best rock songs of all time like welcome to the jungle and sweet o child of mine, so I appreciate it for that.
Incredibly important hip hop record smooth beats and dangerous rhymes a truly enjoyable listen, influenced many artists like the roots etc
It’s a great debut pop record but I’ve heard better considering this is all about albums before you die
Good collection of country songs definitely worth listening too
Some explosive pop from the 60s I loved it
Well created album with some great brass sections 👍
Some classic hip hop flawless production but in my opinion some questionable bars, love Dre by snoop carrries
Some great production from timberland but Elliot is a weak rapper at this stage
Appreciate the amazing guitar, but just not my kinda of music
Love the temptations some filthy, funky tracks on here
One of the greatest of all time, nimble word play, erotic lyrics and a unmatched charisma. My favs were Juicy and Big poppa. Only reason it’s not a 5 is because it’s seems they are better bars than actual songs, and also sex interludes?
The track green onions is amazing but after a whole album?
Some classic stones songs, very bluesy and filled with great guitar riffs from the ever present Keith’s Richards my favourites were sympathy of the devil and the last track :)
Filled with beautiful harmonies, yet the instrumentals don’t really hit for me
It’s just amid album in my opinion nothing special or awe inspiring it’d a decent solo album but honestly I would much rather be listening to something else
I’m conflicted about toms voice but I love the album 😂
Very basic chords with mediocre melodies in my opinion
Decent blues not something I can really get behind though
I liked the first few songs but then it got bland and repetitive
Not dinstincitve enough passable melodies but nothing to write home about
The album is fantastic but due to the sad nature I don’t think I will be returning that oftern
Arguably the best rap album of all time, Classic flows and classic beats love NY state of mind and around the park. Love how nas is still dropping classics as well with the kings diseases. :)
Didn’t really grow up with metallic as I’m a 200s boys, so I don’t have the same nostalgia s everyone else, not their best album at all
It’s a great album but all AC DC albums sound the same without or without Bon no disrespect
Short quick and groovy great punk 🔥
Brutal hard core punk not my kinda of thing but I respect it
Great metal but not my genre
Great live album
Interesting but not my thing
Brutal filled with grunge punk and many other fast paced genres. Vicious almost
I see a lot of people say this is hard to listen to but this is pure experimental bliss with instrumentation that feels like I’m travelling with eerie sense of calm and tranquility. I absolutely adore the opener is it the main track that encapsulates that feeling for me, A lot of the lyrics seem forced and potentially edgy for edgy purposes, however a lot of them conjure evocative emotions which in essence is what lyrics are supposed to do. I understand now why this is the best album of the 2000s for many, ide give it a 9.5 out of 10 or higher depending on my mood.
This does not hit a boring bland generic electronic album that was not worth my time 🙄
Banging great beats rhyme and poetry
Some unique dance music but that’s all it has going for it
This album is one of my favourite, I absolutely adore nick drake, although this is my least favourite drake record. The jazz, funk and folk sound Is majestic and captivating, northern sky is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, strong 10
Brilliant rock album full angst and a intoxiticating relationship story 👍
Very experimental and noisy, although I don’t love it I completely understand why it’s sets the foundation for other important American rock music :)
Classic hip hop albums some of the most influential and important tracks of the 80s kickstarted a lot of rappers careers )
Good vibes but that’s kinda of it for me
This a cacophony of electronic beauty the instrumentals are what absolutely puts this album on a different level it feels like a resurgence for Bowie and is one of my favourite albums from him. I love the Berlin trilogy!
Really fun and groovy with listening to, with tracks that make me want to dance :)
Some interesting pop but it bored me tbh
Some classic eno really enjoyed it
Classic beats, with a twinge of jazz and funk. Classic rhymes and bars from tip and phife. Check the Rhine is top 10 rap songs of all time and there are amazing features from an upcoming Busta Rhymes, and honestly this album is a easy 5. If your not into stripped down rap though this might not be your thing.
It’s lacks passion for me to bother to listen to another pop rock album while there is some interesting instruments and scintillating choir harmonies, I won’t listen again
It’s a classic album but it could be so much better and they have better records, I’d give it like a 3.5
This Is a really great alt rock and pop album I thoroughly enjoyed it
A classic indi record
Classic Bowie potentially his best work
This is a more commercial rush and therefore there are some catchy songs in here but it lacks rushes formula and is not their best work
It’s got can I kick it on and some other classic tracks like I left me wallet in El Segundo and others, this a vibrant exciting tribe still trying to find their groove and sound. Still a must listen alternative rap album 👍
A amazing feminine album
Decent heavy metal album but I hate heavy metal so… 😂
I great album mixing genres like pop and electronic with other genres like punk and Bossa nova, my favourite tracks are Double bass, Clint Eastwood and Latin Simone, a fabulous debut for a interesting band 👍
👍
The arguable peak of blues rock, Janis Joplin’s voice is absolutely vibrant and aggressive. You can almost smell the late 60s on this record. 👍
Appreciate where a lot of country comes from buts it’s not for me
A budget Duran Duran do I need to say more
Kanye best album, and a valid candidate for the best album of the 2010s this is a masterpiece, filled with gems of songs like Devil in a new dress and runaway. Monster has some of the best rap features ever with nick minaj giving a once in a lifetime verse. I love this album
A great rock album with some classic 70s songs like reeling in the year. I liked it but I didn’t have anything special going for it in my opinion.
One of the greatest albums of all time. A top 10 in Hip hop a blueprint for current rap. 10/10
A genre bender, beck is a fabulous artist and this is a great album
A album full of good vibes, great lyrics, and bob marley. This is a revolutionary album for reggae and one of my favourite reggae records I have heard
One of the greatest post punk albums, with humorous yet genius lyrics from the frontman, I see why NME gave them the no.1 spot 👍
Decent punk album although I won’t listen again
Great folk album, with some top notch songwriting from Paul Simon favourites are Mrs Robinson and Old friends
Great indie and grunge record
Great album mixing different fusions, folk, Turkish and Irish I’m really impressed
There is beauty in simplicity and Joan Baez has a airy, stunning voice, with stripped back traditional folk songs her voice shines. I’m only giving it a 4 because there is no original songwriting and sometimes bland production.
SMOKE ON THE WATER!
Good electro pop but I don’t like electro pop
REM is cool and this is a great project
Fantastic blues album with great guitar playing
A solid baroque pop album with lyricism commenting on the politics of England and etc.
A revolutionary live album
Great 80s album it’s iconic
A classic disco record
Interesting sound
Great punk album
One of my favourite albums of all time. Rock with you might be my favourite song
Always listened to faith when I was younger but there just isn’t enough good tracks on here
A solid indie album
Amazing and unique indie record it’s fun, poppy and electronic
Just a beautifully relaxing soul album. Let’s stay together is straight heat
One of the best albums of all time
Just pleasing jazz music
A an amazing folk album, Scarborough fair is a banger
Good album mixed bag
Solid album
Solid indie album
The best rap album ever
Decent thrash album
Great punk album filled with some nice acoustic cuts as well
Underestimated Queen as an album band this album has got some great songs. And I am doing Killer Queen for GCSE 💀
Just a really pleasant jazz album
Good live album
A masterpiece. Beats that the greats could rap on. Hard, smooth and sensual at the same time. Beth gibbons flawlessly sings over the glooming instrumentals. One of the best albums of all time.
One of the best debut albums ever
A psychedelic early 70s underappreciated masterpiece, the tracks seem together so well
Such an amazing album not as good as Dummy but still brilliant
Prog masterpiece and frank zappas best work
Really pleasant listening
An amazing soul album
One of the best albums ever the Beatles are my faves
Amazing jazz album
Some interesting samples and loops but her voice really irritates me and I couldn’t really properly finish the record. Paper planes Is the best song here by far
The White album for Fleetwood Mac but not as good
A great Brit pop record but these guys have better records, still enjoyed though
Sultans of swing is one the best songs ever the other songs are all great fusions of rock and jazz
Elton John really knows to write good music the title track is one of my favourites
All of wu tangs stuff is so much better
Papa was a rolling stone!
Bully Joel is amazing
My dad introduced me to Fela when I was younger and so I’ve always had a soft spot for his funky and insanely groovy Afro music, so knowing he collaborated with a Rock legend in Ginger Baker on five tracks which are great is comforting and a wonderful surprise. 5/5
I’ve always appreciated bob Dylan’s music as being important and significant but this live performance just exemplifies that respect as one of the greatest artists ever
Not all live albums capture the essence of both a performer and a audience completely engrossed in the performance and the songs, but these country songs of love death and more are perfect in A live setting. This is a an amazing album, Johnny Cash is in his prime.
Cool reggae about everyone’s favourite plant
Some great gangsta rap, the runtime was pushing it however
Some cool noise rock not sure how I feel about the voice but the songwriting more then makes up for it
Iconic and impactful but it’s not my cup of tea
A swan song from a man dying of liver cancer. Blackstar shows even in the face of his demise Bowie was trying to experiment with both industrial hip hop sounds and a electronica similar to artists like Boards of Canada. Blackstar is both a bow on Bowies legacy but also a great album in its own right. Fav songs: Blackstar,I can’t give everything away
This album is both comfortable and organic showing a band at their creative peak. With brilliant songwriting The Band make one of the best records of the 60s.
As a guitar player I keep thinking I need my songs to be complex chord arrangements, and then I listen to Lou Reed and realise what a genius he is at simplistic songwriting. Perfect day has to be one of the prettiest songs I’ve ever listened to, and Walk on the Wild Side has maybe the most intriguing lyrics of any song I’ve ever listened to. 5 stars
A fine indie rock album nothing special though
Layla is cool
The most influential album ever, unlike some people, I love Nicos voice, I’ll be your Mirror and Femma Fetale are beautiful melancholy. Sunday morning is another example of a drug-fused melancholy that can only be described as pure bliss. However the hard rockers like Heroin are also amazing, this album is great.
This is a solid debut
Alice in chains is great grunge I always love their acoustic unplugged stuff as well
The first album that got me into Elliot. This album is the perfect middle ground for his dark folk like sound to his Beatleseque pop that verged on noise rock nearer the end. Songs like Alameda and Big ballad of big nothing are grim pieces of folk rock while songs like Angeles and Between the bars are maybe the two best singer songwriter songs I’ve ever heard. Elliott is a genius especially on the guitar.
Before they were dominated by Afro beat The TH had their second album full of jangling guitars and a thumping bass, full of more Byrne weirdness, which I can only take for so long, whatever my opinion on the lead singer is, this band is extremely tight and play with a lot genres in a really cool way. I probably would only return to a few songs though
Revolver is all the Beatles in fine form. Each Member contributes significantly whether it’s John with the experimental Tomorrow never knows or the psychedelic classic I’m only sleeping, or Paul with two of the greatest love songs of all time with htae and For no one. Revolver is one of the best albums of all time
I wasn’t familiar with Boston until recently but these songs really slap
The atmosphere is smoky and eerily 50s the songs are smooth, sensual and it being a live album adds to the sincerity and charm, this probably isn’t a album I would normally listen to, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Some songs I liked but overall a poor record
This album is just really fun and especially funky, the bass is great and the instrumentation is really interesting. It’s very refreshing compared to some of the classier soul stuff from the 60s and 70s
One of the best records of the 2000s the hardest button to button is one of my favourite songs Ever
This is one of Dylan’s 10s, you really have to sit down and just get immersed in the poetry and songwriting, Your a big girl now and Simple twist of fate are some of the best written folk songs ever
Freedom 90 was one of my favourite songs growing up
An interesting country album
This album is the album of my early childhood songs Iike Billie Jean and Wanna be Starting something are some of the best pop songs ever released. This album means a lot to me. And I will not tolerate The girl is mine hate, it is a straight banger
There’s a warmness to the songs of Tapestry, which are all quality folk rock songs, specifically ballads. Carole King isn’t the best vocalist or instrumentalist but her songs are just so comforting and beautiful that’s it’s hard to really care about those details. Your so far away and You make me feel like a Natural woman are two of my favs. Tapestry is just perfection for a cold day in autumn.
The first prog rock album and it’s just a classic. I first heard the opener as a sample in POWER by Ye and knew I had to listen to it. I was not disappointed. The mix of jazz and rock is just insane. The jazz embellishments and freak outs are all over this record. Moonchild and ITCOTCK are examples of This. I talk to the wind is just beautiful and the flute is just the Cherry on top.
Dark and brooding, UP is a masterclass in post punk. Every track is dominated by both the drumming and the crooning of the late Ian Curtis, to brutal effect. A must listen album
Songs written from the heart
Great album from the 60s
Some great baroque pop but probably I’m only coming back to waterloo sunset
Brooding and quite minimalistic; this album is full of very pretty songs like Into my arms and Idiot prayer, will definitely re listen.
