Not my favorite, but solid album for its time
Really loved Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding
Enjoyed this Aretha album, though it didn’t blow my mind.
Very dad rock, good album!!
I have always been impressed by Carlos Santana’s guitar skills and the album was a lovely reminder of how much I sleep on this good music.
This album felt like a precursor to Gorillaz or similar type of electronica meets hip hop. Really enjoyed this album.
I really enjoyed the ethereal sound in this album. Allison Goldfrapp’s vocals are something else.
I just could not stand this one. The vocals were not good at all, and the music was very blah
2 stars — one for Breakdown and one for American Girl
Very interesting and unique music
Back half of the album was much better than the first half
What a fantastic electronic album from ‘95. This has tracks that will be immediately going on some special playlists. 10/10 perfect for listening as an album, perfect blends between tracks for DJing into a set. Love it!
I did not care for this one. Based on the global reviews, I am an outlier but I guess I am just not a fan of the Americana folk style, though the soulful bits were nice.
While this could desperately use a remastering, I still don’t think that would add more than a single star to this mess.
Incredible jazz compositions. Charles Mingus gets it.
To me this album is worth a listen but I probably will not return to it. I recommended it to my husband who enjoys German metal.
A little slow, as a lot of The Beach Boys style can be. I appreciate it for the cultural impact it had but it is not my kind of music.
Very reminiscent of Garth Brooks, fun album
Pretty lackluster, with a couple highlights.
Why do I enjoy this so much??
Burn hot and bright, Amy.
Very nice jazzy rock album
The first song was terrible but the album really blossomed after that. Decent punk album
As beloved as they are by the public, I cannot get into Radiohead without really needing to be in the right mood. This album has some definite highlights but it’s nothing I will be playing on repeat.
I’m not a fan of psych rock myself but this album had a few good, recognizable tracks
3.5 stars. It’s fun for parties but I wouldn’t give it more of a serious listen over other music that I enjoy more.
Very chill album, reminded me of Beck in the best ways
Simply fantastic Latin jazz album!
Love Air and this album was full of wonderful music.
I can definitely understand the cultural impact of this album, and think I may have enjoyed it more as an angsty teenager. Some of the songs found me waiting for the album to be over, but others like Piggy and The Becoming were really interesting and I enjoyed them quite a bit. Of course, Closer, being the single from the album, was one that I already knew and enjoyed.
Surprisingly dull. I expected more from the Grateful Dead, tbh!
3.5 stars, I started appreciating it more in the second half of the album.
Really surprising D&B album. Especially enjoyed Beatbox!
