Dance music you can't dance to? This is making me rethink my Underworld review.
Kinda sleepy. Would work when I want mellow music I guess. I could tell why the Beatles only let him have one or two songs per album.
Deep tracks I didn't know well... For a reason
Impressive. So eclectic! Not into the soul and R&B stuff, but other stuff is really cool.
Amazing that this was 1988! Production was good. Sound was so ahead of its time. I would listen again in the background while doing something else...but probably not the whole album in one sitting.
Mostly awful and hard to get through. But afew saving moments. And some neat moments when I felt like I was in a movie and it was the soundtrack. Some long shot in a Quentin Tarantino movie...
I thought I would be more excited to hear this as it's been a while since I've listened to the whole album. But I still really don't like their funk music. Half of me feels like I should just listen to Parliament if I want to listen to funk. The other half of me can't stop thinking about what a douchebag Anthony Kiedis probably is. But I'm still going to give it three stars because I love the song "breaking the girl" and I really love the song "I could have lied"
Oof. Elevator music salvaged by one kick-ass riff that will be stuck in my head for a week.
Enjoyed that more than expected to.
More enjoyable than expected
What the hell?
Ugh. More Beatles
I pretty much hate The Smiths except for one song... Which I grew to like because it was on a mixtape. Listening to all these songs in a row? Ugh. But in search of increased neuroplasticity I powered through. I have learned more about why I hate them. The music is okay, but mixed with no oomph. And then the vocals loudly drown out the music anyway. Oh the vocals. How I hate them. Horrible melodies. Annoying style. Punchable face.
Liked the energy and attitude. But the messy live version of (mostly) songs I've never heard was a challenge. I'm curious what studio recordings might sound like. The next 5 songs Spotify auto played afterwards were awesome.
Dance music you can't dance to? This is making me rethink my Underworld review.
Speak up son!
I think I'm being punked
Hmm...I like a lot of things about it, but it lacks any pop predictably. So maybe that's good for my brain. But it's hard to listen to for too long. Mostly just sounds like chaos...but in a style that I like?
Thank you for a break from the noise experiments.
Only 4 of the songs would play. Very few reasons for a live album, but guitar solos are one of them. Still in Love with You has a pretty great solo.
All the songs I know are great. The songs I didn't know...I likely will never listen to again.
Minus the songs that sounded like church hymns, I really liked it!
Expertly recorded. Like, I'm no audio engineer, but even I can tell this is masterful studio work.
I may be in the top 0.1% of Brian Eno listeners on Spotify... But I don't got time for this shit today.
I wonder what I'd think of this if I was hearing it for the first time. But I'm hearing it for the 253rd time and know each song by heart as it was one of the only pop albums that my mom would listen to when I was growing up.
Lounge music at times...but a nice lounge
The lyrics are so repetitive that listening to a song once is like listening to it 10 times. So at this point I'm pretty sick of most the songs on this album. But also it f'n rocks and when it works it works really well. I'd rather not listen to the whole album at once though.
Meh
Pretty good album. I think these lads are going places.
I'm bored
Tres gauche
When I was a kid, my big brother would play Talking Heads in the car and I would complain about every song that wasn't Burning Down the House. Now I'm older and wiser and I complain about every song that isn't Psycho Killer. 2.5 of these stars are for Psycho Killer
I like it!
Great album. One my my favorite bands. I'm saving my 5 star reviews for a couple of their offer albums.
Seems good? Just don't really like this genre.
Blandy McBland
Kinda enjoyable I guess
Way better than his other album we had to listen to
Well that was unexpected
Love the hit; kinda like the other stuff.
Liked the punk vibe and the few songs I was familiar with. But it got long and boring.
A couple songs were good for movie soundtracks but I don't think at this point of my life I'm ever going to be making a movie
I can see why he doesn't have very many hits but is sampled in so many. An extra star for his contribution to Mommy Daddy sheet monster time
I'd like to punk cover Flag Decal
Meh
I like his sloppy singing attitude. But it just doesn't hold a match to the better stuff of the era
This listens like AI tried to make a 90s album. No riffs, just simple chord progressions. Singing is intentionally off key. Guitars are super distorted. But the songs could just as easily be reproduced as Britney Spears songs. So in one way, you know me well AI. I'm here for this. Just most of the songs aren't very good. A couple interesting gems at the end though.
Country? If you say so wikipedia. Sounds like Irish folk punk... Like the Pogues or something. But English. Enjoyable enough.
Kinda sleepy. Would work when I want mellow music I guess. I could tell why the Beatles only let him have one or two songs per album.
I didn't realize how hardcore Biggie was. I thought it was all going to be like pop stuff I associate with Puff Daddy.
Real mediocre
In the right mood/setting...
Pretty cool stuff to have on while doing other stuff. Not great for driving.
Interesting voice. It has it's place.
The two hits are still awesome.
No
Yep.
A couple songs I love on here. But I wasn't in the mood for the rest of it. I'm old.
Good I guess? But kind of forgettable.
Rawk
Unexpected.
I thought I liked Supertramp. Clearly not because of this album.
Interesting. Can't listen to too much of that drone sound at once though.
Super interesting mix of genre influences.
Sexxy
I had no idea who this was. But three words in, recognized his voice. It's a vibe.
The 70's Show theme! You can hear how this influenced future artists...Kiss formed a year later. Aerosmith's debut was also a year later. I hear White Stripes in there too. Also some dumb stuff I never need to hear again.
I dunno
3 classic songs hidden in there... But you'll get super bored waiting for them
There's something about the engineering/production/etc of this album that's always bothered me. But it's still Radiohead and has street spirit on it.
Couple of must hear classics. Didn't care for the rest.
That guitar riff!
I like the idea of Husker Du... But it's all pretty boring. One gear.
So many ballads...
Some vibes...but I'm more impressed by the samples than the raps.
Interesting but not good. She should stick with it and make another record or two
Doesn't do much for me musically. And I'm not reading along with the lyric sheet. So...
Love his voice. Don't love the elevator music
The singles are good and the rest is so boring
The singles are good and the rest is so boring
Pretentious
Why do I like this?
Crazy stuff
You'd have to be an avid fan to want to listen to the live version.
Still mostly unlistenable after all these years
Very distinct sound... To the point that I can't tell one song from another.
Who cares? I really didn't need to hear this before I died
3.5 stars
