My Generation by The Who
Feb 14 2025

The Good's Gone is a cool laid-back track that seems 90s indie! Some tracks a bit sub-Rolling Stones and /or Beatles. Title track, especially bass, and album cover excellent. Didn't like James Brown cover, although guitar work is nice. Smatterings of interesting drumming - The Ox rocks pretty hard.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Feb 17 2025

Don't see what the fuss is about. Some obviously hummable tunes and quality production, but underwhelming.

Aladdin Sane by David Bowie
Feb 18 2025

Interesting sounds. I like the discordant piano on the title track, but it begins becomes annoyingly self-indulgent in the solo. Panic in Detroit has a good riff, but is, like some other tracks, a bit boring. Cracked Actor is a bit more rock'n'roll, and the guitars sound great. Overall, I couldn't help but think how good Bowie worked as part of a visual experience in Moonage Daydream, and how this album just lacks oomph.

Vol. 4 by Black Sabbath
Feb 19 2025

Lots of variety and experimentig. Fewer killer tracks, but a great listen.

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Feb 20 2025

Better than I expected, but not that original / interesting. Decent catchy numbers.

Feb 21 2025

Very well crafted numbers, some variety, and a couple of classics. Too long, though, and some of the reggae and country doesn't work for me.

Blackstar by David Bowie
Feb 24 2025

Eclectic , interesting, not nostalgic.

Melodrama by Lorde
Feb 25 2025

Not really my thing. Good voice and some good writing, but... On 2nd listen, I was more impressed, both by music and lyrics.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Feb 26 2025

Very much of its time. Evocative and interesting lyrics. Some of the sounds a bit experimental - some too discordant and not enjoyable. I prefer the tracks with Lou Reed on lead vocal.

Back In Black by AC/DC
Feb 27 2025

All killer no filler. Filthy, not as funny as Bon Scott's AC-DC, but great tunes and storming guitar

So Much For The City by The Thrills
Feb 28 2025

Pleasant enough songs, but not a lot to go back for.

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Mar 03 2025

Doesn't ask work, but really imaginative

Rock 'N Soul by Solomon Burke
Mar 04 2025

Enjoyable, simple, possibly ground-breaking, but quickly surpassed by the soul greats like Sam Cooke, Otis, and Wilson Pickett.

Dookie by Green Day
Mar 05 2025

Ok energy, all a bit the same

Idlewild by Everything But The Girl
Mar 06 2025

Pleasant, but not that inspiring. And it starts with a cover!

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Mar 07 2025

Enjoyed more than I thought I would. Interestingly grungy.

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Mar 10 2025

Pleasant, talented, bit dull.

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Mar 11 2025

Pretty dull. Their best album must be a Best Of? Too much filler that doesn't say much. Some better highlights

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Mar 12 2025

Like the beats, especially the remixes. Classic chill.

Closer by Joy Division
Mar 14 2025

Started well... but no.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Mar 18 2025

Humorous and complex. Great interplay and beats.

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
Mar 19 2025

I get it, just not really my thing

Viva Hate by Morrissey
Mar 20 2025

Better than I expected!

Woodface by Crowded House
Mar 21 2025

Dull

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Mar 24 2025

Excellent. Little filler, great lyrics and banging rhythms

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Mar 25 2025

Liked the energy and vocals.

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 26 2025

Good in parts

1984 by Van Halen
Mar 27 2025

Scrappy writing and playing, a couple of classics, but...

Fuzzy Logic by Super Furry Animals
Mar 28 2025

Pretty derivative britpop. Rock for people who don't like rock

From Elvis In Memphis by Elvis Presley
Mar 31 2025

Honestly don't get it. Why Elvis if it's motown or blues? Saved by a couple of classics.

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Apr 01 2025

Beautiful voice and production not the greatest songs

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Apr 25 2025

As ever, better on vinyl! Raw vocals make this, over melodic but changing beats.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
May 06 2025
At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
May 09 2025

Got my Mojo working is perfection! So gotta get to marks

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
May 12 2025

I like some songs, but not the production combo with her voice. 2.
