Back To Black is undeniably a really good album, even if it isn’t to everyone’s taste. Wonder why they gave me Frank? So far it’s ok, but honestly a 3 seems generous. Her adopted blaccent has always been very tough on my ears. Very boring album.

Enjoying it way more than I remember liking this album. The guitars are great - superb really. I like the songs. The lyrics are a bunch of old nonsense. That sort of, “meh, there are some words and vowels and it sounds like I’m saying something… good enough”.

Not liking this much. Very meta and surreal. Great singer, but a lot of the songs are very self indulgent. Sweet Life is an excellent song. Super Rich Kids is good. Pilot Jones is good. Crack Rock is on the nose and depressing, but not terrible. Pyramids is ok. Lost is ok. Think it needs to be a 2.

Loved this album for decades. Love the whole trilogy so much. It has been quite a few years since I have listened to the whole album. It is so absurdly good. As many times as I have listened to it, it is still so fresh and jaw-droppingly good. The songs, the musicianship, the singing… good god…

Though it pains me to admit… very boring album and really crap lyrics. Tiny Dancer, great. Holiday Inn pretty good. All the Nasties, ok - sounds like a 70s Elvis song. Everything else - crap. Sorry. Never need to hear this again.

Back when this came out it would have been such an enthusiastic 5. Teetered a lot, but the genius in it is just so strong a pull I’m not going to let the stars reflect the fact that the songs could very arguably be 25% shorter, but… it’s great.

Can totally see why this is a classic. 90s R&B is hard for me to get enthusiastic about.

Very impressive production - very impressive singing, yet, everything about it seems very forced to me - inorganic. The TLC album I just rated was a lot better.

Interesting artist. His voice reminds me of Bob Dorough.

I suspect people who are not yet dead inside would rate this higher. (I think It is who and not whom, but I’m not sure. There would be no way for me to figure this out. I SAID THERE ISN'T ANY WAY!!!)

Used to love this album. Wanted to give it a 5. So unvarying.

The guitars are really nice. The singing… he is one of those guys that is a crap singer, but there is something captivating about his voice.
