What a classic! Should listen to this one more often!
Perfect album for a sunny day in H-Town!!
Interesting to hear The King finding his voice.
A summer day + this album?? Chef's kiss!!
Good reminder of how much blues is on this record. Some classic tracks and jams here!!
What in the world did I just listen to??????
Had never heard of The Auteurs but this was a fun listen. Lots of Replacements influence/vibe here. Would definitely listen to this one again and explore more of their catalog.
This was a great ride! I remember the band from back in the day but hadn't thought about them in a while. Listened to this one 2x! Fun record!
Perfect morning listening. A gem from the storied Village Vanguard from the master, Bill Evans.
.....and in roars Brian Johnson......and also one of the bestselling metal albums of all time. Following the death of Bon Scott, it was hard to imagine the band capturing that lightning in a bottle twice. They certainly proved it to be possible with this one.
Too much like a 40 minute song for me.
Sonically dated but a few good tracks. Doesn't sound like a Spector project for sure. Also shows that Goffin was always better with King.
Sheer sonic perfection!! Come on......our intro to the genius of Eddie Van Halen!! And you would be hard pressed to find a more enigmatic front man than David Lee Roth in his heyday. You know your head exploded the first time you heard Eruption.....and rightfully so. RAWR!!!
The gold standard here. Miles was a complicated genius - as all geniuses are. A storied life, a storied catalogue of remarkable music, and this gem! Not a false note in the bunch!
Oh, Trent! You beautiful beast! No one did or still does sound like you or the barely restrained fury of NIN. The Downward Spiral remains an album to be reckoned with.
An almost indescribable record. Gone too soon, we are left to wonder what other gems Drake would have gifted us with. The sheer ache and beauty of this record remain untouched.
Shine on, you crazy diamond.
It's not every day you get to listen to a Queen cover in German. Rock on?
An 11-minute version of Papa Was A Rolling Stone alone was worth the ride.
Interesting record. You can feel Burke's voice change from song to song. You can't love 'em all!
A breath of fresh air full of classic Stevland tracks. Wonder's attention to detail in his compositions has always been in place and this album is no exception to that rule. Just a fantastic listen on a beautiful day!
The brothers at their best! Always a great listen.
A profoundly impactful debut album from one of the best, if not THE best rapper in the world. This album pushed basically every boundary that there was at the time, tested every limit, and came out as a piece of work that is still relevant today. #stan
Jack & Meg at their best! Definitely a sound I miss. Welcome to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!!
Oh man......this one! 30 minutes of pure joy! The glory of "America." The fantastic "Mrs. Robinson." The driving "Hazy Shade of Winter." The bizarre interludes. An album that remains sonically ahead of its time. And as Frances McDormand would say, "Simon and Garfunkel is poetry. Yes, it's poetry. It is the poetry of drugs and promiscuous sex! Honey, they're on pot!"
Couldn't listen to it, so.......
The 1-2 punch of 'Songs of Faith & Devotion' and 'Violator' is pretty much unparalleled for synth-pop in the early 90's. Hard to beat this one. Still a viable listen 30+ years on.
Oh, wonderful Beth! Adrian Utley's light jazz touches and flawless production are instrumental in this album being a gem and a high point of 90's trip-hop.
Listening to this album has always made me think I should smell like beer afterwards. Definitely a fun run of a record, paused by the gem that is Fairytale.
Had forgotten how chill this hip-hop gem is. Great morning listen!
The OG Curtis Mayfield! Smooth as butter!
Definitely not my cup of tea but musically a good ride.
Another 80's winner from DM featuring classics like Strangelove, Never Let Me Down Again, & Behind The Wheel. Production by the legendary Dave Bascombe is always an x-factor!
Quirky and fun record. Would have been more fun to listen to with a margarita in hand instead of my coffee this AM but here we are!
Allegedly a pun on "oh delay" because the album took so long to make, this one still sounds amazing 28 years later with those Dust Brothers on the two turntables. Odelay manages to playfully jump over every existing genre that the late 90's threw before us and it remains a highly listenable work.
Classic Neil with one of my favorite Neil album covers. While it wasn't wholeheartedly accepted at the time, this one has aged well and still sounds great! Here's to Neil and the beach!
A fantastic debut that has easily stood the 30 year test of time.
100% stem to stern imperfectly perfect. The end.
This is PEAK Blondie! Amazing songs, fantastic production, a band on fire, and hello, Debbie!!!!!
The second album in the Berlin trilogy is a gem. Lyrics written basically on the spot, Eno, Visconti, Fripp......I mean come on! You are missed, David.
Big Neil fan here but this one remains a tough listen for me. Not one of his best albums but since it's Neil even that is better than most.
What a wonderful listen and a wonderful way to spend a morning with Miles!
Always a good listen with John & Exene! Not their greatest record but a fun one to crank up!
A plea for peace on earth and widely considered the first eco-protest record, this is - plain and simple - a fucking glorious record.
Sonically a solid record but it falls prey to most of the songs sounding too much alike. The lead single still has a great hook. Hard to believe this one is 10 years old.
An interesting yeehaw listen on xmas eve!
Great reminder of how phenomenal those girl groups were. And ANY chance to hear the great Ronnie Spector should not be passed by. But Phil can kiss my ass.
The Man In Black's last album is a tough but beautiful listen.
Incredibly and criminally underrated record. Joan's guitar playing is extraordinary and the production is stellar.
For Dylan fans, this is one of the defining pieces. For me, a little uneven.
Gaffney's last stand on this Sub Pop layered piece.
Is this a question? Sheer perfection from the Fab Four. From the first note to the last gated note of Her Majesty, this is the gold standard.
While it still struggles a bit sonically, this album remains so groundbreaking in so many ways. Nico's raspy Bohemian voice with zero fucks to give and Lou Reed already showing what a powerful musician he was make this record a standout.
What a joyous listen! Bowie looking and sounding fit, great songwriting, a little help from Lennon, and smooth as a lake on a wind-free day.
Quincy's flawless production, Michael coming into his own with his songwriting, the incredibly smooth sounds of Off The Wall never disappoint.
So much glorious fun here! If listening to this record doesn't make you smile, you've got other problems going on.
A fun listening from arguable the king of World Music.
There's no denying the beauty of this record. Part prophetic, part achingly sad, a young Neil shows us life through his kaleidoscope. Fantastic guests and that signature Neil sound and vibe make this an all-time great.
Unpopular opinion (maybe?) but The Smiths = zzzzzzz
Oh, Kate, you glorious creature! An anomaly in music, all of her albums are highly intelligent, sonically brilliant, and unarguably groundbreaking. Kate was the original fearless performer and she was a master of SO many artistic realms. Bravo!
What a great morning listen! The Byrds, high as collective kites, bringing us the jangly Rickenbacker best.
Had no idea that this was Julian Cope's band! Sounds very 1979 in every last way. Fun listen!
Possibly the saddest goodbye in music history. David's swan song is one of a billion reasons why this earth is a worse place without him.
Hard to believe this one is 11 years old. Definitely a "growing into our sound" record, this shows the band on a solid trajectory to much bigger and much better things
Hadn't listened to this one in ages and it was a great reminder of how much fun this record is. We need more Neneh in 2026!!
A frenetic run by The Killer and a super fun listen!
Lovely afternoon listen from a true never a dull moment artist. Sonically fantastic!
Bittersweet Symphony is a never skip track for me and has been since the first time I heard it. It remains as anthemic and true as it was the day it was released.
Equal parts hip-hop flow and rap gem, this one raised the bar. Biggie was ahead of his time and was also gone too soon. Props for the Scarface/Geto Boys shout out on One More Chance!
High spots and low spots here. This one still sounds good but end to end a little uneven. Still a fun listen and who doesn't love Epic???
Been too long since I listened to this start to finish. A Lou gem!
A 1992 highlight. This album still sounds as fresh and as important as it did 35 years ago. We never really did deserve R.E.M..
Hasn't aged well and a reminder of why I never "got" The Prodigy.
Van's music has sadly lost its importance for me. Could barely make it through this one.
I didn't have enough X to make this listenable. And 2 albums? Nope.
A moment captured in time. A truly glorious moment.
We didn't deserve Nick when we had him and we didn't have him long enough. :(
