A beautiful album, dripping in atmosphere, with gorgeous, sultry vocals and interesting, sparse instrumentation. But like a near-perfect meal with too much salt, it becomes a bit one-note, oppressively slow and somber.

Self indulgent lyrics over Muzak-esque soft jazz instrumentation with occasional cringey sax solos.

Peak psychedelic rock, great playing from all members.

Overwrought and super, super corny.

Super weird and generally challenging to listen to. Is it fun weird, genius weird, or just “hey look at me I’m being weird” weird? Maybe a little of all three.

Electronic beats (some of them admittedly great). Whiny vocals. Large parts are incomprehensible and tough to listen to, which is probably why critics loved it.

There’s not much better than funky Stevie. There’s not much worse than sentimental Stevie.

Don’t understand the love for this. I don’t like the beats, the rhymes, his voice or his cadence.

Soulless jazz pop rock, softer than baby poop.

A little second wave ska mixed in with the usual synth pop.

Great beats, great samples, great rhymes, thoughtful and intelligent songs.

Adele’s voice is amazing on this album. However, it’s all so very mono-thematic; every song is about heartbreak. There are other human emotions to sing about too.

80% schlock, 20% insightful. But my own personal biases keep me from enjoying the 20%, as I find Dolly’s voice (tone, vibrato, hokey accent) like nails on a chalk board.
