I listened to this album in April 2025 and gave it 2.9/5
2.6/5
I've never liked the doors and I've never understood the fascination with them, but I didn't mind this album to be honest. Might have to give them another chance. Not that big a fan of the keyboards though and some of the long songs. Light my fire is a great track but it's brought down by the massive long bridge. If it was a tight 3.30-4min song I'd love it more.
3/5
Imagine is an all time track but the rest of the album was good too. I could definitely relisten to this one and bump it up but I enjoyed it for what it is.
0.5/5
I sometimes listen to jazz in the background when I just want something in the background and I could see myself putting on some Fela Kuti but I couldn't listen to it by itself. Very repetitive and when they are 12-13min songs it ends up being a looooong listen. I actually didn't mind these songs, but after 4-5mins of each track I grew tired and weary.
2.7/5
Solid album. I've only heard a few Bob Marley songs before but this was pretty good. Could definitely put this on again.
2.7/5
Hallelujah is an all time great song.
2.5/5
A few good songs but I only rated 3 songs 3/5 so it gets a 2
1.4/5
Honestly, I wouldn't put this in the top 10,000 albums of all time, let alone the top 1,000. I'm not sure what people hear in this. If someone put this on and didn't mention it was on this list I would have said it was a college band's first and only album from the early 90's and it had less than 1,000 listens on Spotify. The only half decent song is the first track "Firefly". I could barely make it through the rest of the songs.
1.6/5
I feel bad for rating it so low but it's just not my style of music. The instruments and singing were solid but if I'm rating this on what music I like to listen too, this ain't it.
1.4/5
Can't say I enjoyed this. She's a good singer and the music was fine but I nearly fell asleep listening to this.
0.9/5
I'm not a fan of rap or hip hop so I didn't like this. They had some cool rhymes and samples but overall nothing that I would ever want to come back too.
Disc 1 - 0.6/5
Disc 2 - 0.8/5
Total - 0.7/5
As someone who doesn't like rap/hip hop this was an absolute chore to get through at over 2hrs.
Hey ya & Roses on the Outkast album are such outliers on this record. The rest is slow, rap heavy, with silly interludes that add nothing. I think if this was 10-11 of the best songs I'd give it more of a chance and rate this higher instead of nearly 40 songs which are mostly filler.
1.2/5
For someone who doesn't like rap or hip hop, I actually didn't mind this. Would I put it on again? Doubt it, but I could actually listen to this without skipping songs or wanting to turn it off like some of the other rap stuff I've heard.
2.4/5
A couple of good songs but I've never understood the fascination with Radiohead.
2.7/5
Really solid first 7 songs and then it all sort of drops off towards the end. I haven't listened to any Beatles albums before so it nice to hear the non singles tracks.
2.4/5
Some ok songs but nothing amazing.
3/5
Actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this.i will definitely give this another listen in the future
0.8/5
This has never been my style of music and this album did nothing to change my opinion. I've only heard where's your head at, and I actually like that song but unfortunately it's not on this album.
2.1/5
I've never understood the fascination with the Arcade Fire. It's the type of music that is playing when you walk into a coffee shop. Feels more like background music than one of the greatest albums ever released.
1.1/5
I didn't mind the first 2 tracks but im not that big into funk and soul so some of these songs were pretty repetitive.
0.7/5
I could listen to 1 track every now and then but the whole album just sounds the same to me. I can't knock the sound quality and the performance, especially for 1958. It sounds better than some music released today but this is not an album I would want to listen to again.
1.5/5
I can't deny the pipes she had but it's not my type of music.
2.8/5
Never heard of this band before but I really dug the sound. I will definitely be checking out their back catalogue. I'm sure if I listened to this a few more times I'd probably rate it a 4 but still a solid listen first time.
2.5/5
While I haven't heard alot of Bob Dylan's music I do like this album. Tambourine man is the stand out track and it's a good album but nothing too amazing.
1.3/5
Sure the music was solid but it just felt like background music.
0.8/5
I don't like west coast hip hop or any hip hop to be honest so another tough listen today. A couple songs were a little amusing but nothing I will ever want to revisit.
2.7/5
A solid album although the latter part of the album drags it down abit. I think I've heard this before and didn't mind it.
2.8/5
A nice little album that can be a little bland but I enjoyed the songs.
2/5
I listened to this a few years ago and didn't really like it. A few tracks were good but a lot were just screaming.
2.1/5
I had a mate who used to listen to Eminem all the time so Ive heard alot of these songs many times. A few good songs but so many skits that unfortunately bring this down because I have to skip them. Also the team ups with like D12 etc bored me.
2.3/5.
A nice easy album to listen too but nothing amazing
2/5
Ive heard alot of the bee gees hits and I thought I was going to enjoy this album but i found it very dull and boring. This is also their lowest rated album on rateyourmusic so by that logic all of their other albums should be on this list so hopefully I'll enjoy them more.
2.4/5
Really surprised with this one. Thought I was going to hate it but I was bopping along to most of the album.
A few catchy songs but nothing really wowed me on this album.
2.8/5
Some really good songs on this album but also just some average ones.
1.9/5
I really liked No More Mr Nice Guy but that's about it.
1.5/5
Just not my type of music.
1.1/5
Some nice vocals and instruments but nothing really grabbed me on this album
2.8/5
Some great tracks on here
0.5/5
People who like rap & hip hop would probably love this but for someone who doesn't like this genre, this album honestly felt like 1 continuous song. Nearly every song sounded the same and you could switch half the lyrics and put them into another track and no one would realise
2.2/5
Some good songs but nothing too amazing
2.6/5
Second time I've listened to this and while I enjoy it, it's nothing amazing. The first half is solid but the last 3 songs drag for me.
2.4/5
I'd only heard the singles off this album but I enjoyed the album as a whole mostly.
0.6/5
The only half decent song was bring the noise and that's only because anthrax played on the track. The rest hurt my ears.
2.2/5
Look there's nothing wrong with this album. It has some good songs, some great guitar work but it doesn't do much for me. I hadn't heard of this album before today and I'll probably forget it exists in a week's time.
0.7/5
Maybe if I was stoned off my head in the 70's I would have enjoyed this but this album just felt like 1 continuous instrumental song with random talking through it. Also at over 2 hours long it was a slog.
2.6/5
I listen to an artist named Adam Green and I always thought he was a quirky dude with the way he sang and arranged his songs. After listening to Lou Reed for the first time, I now realise Adam Green must be a massive fan of Reed because they have the same style and quirks. I didn't mind this album on the first listen despite the weirdness so I might have to listen to more Lou Reed music.
1.6/5
I'm a lyrics guy so when listening to a band from Mali who don't sing in English I find it hard to enjoy it as much. The music was solid although it did get a bit repetitive towards the end but it's a solid effort for this band to be included in the top 1001 albums of all time when not to be insensitive, but the majority of people would never had even heard the band let alone the music.
1.5/5
There's nothing really bad about this album but it does nothing for me. It felt like background music and not one of the greatest albums of all time.
