This was fun, I’ve never listened to JC before. I knew one song, albeit from TikTok.
I enjoyed Southern Man, but would skip the majority of the album in the future.
Not my style per se, but easy listening. I’d have no problem putting this on in the background.
Seemed Beatles adjacent, but I was pleasantly surprised by how many songs I actually knew. Impressive album in terms of how many hits are still played today.
Not something I particularly cared for.
Very final song in an episode of the OC. Chill and cool but not my thing.
Not someone who has ever been on my radar, but I really enjoyed this. 3.5
I understand why the Abbott Elementary teachers were horrified that their kids had never heard of Run DMC
Good vibes. Nothing overly notable though
Not bad but not my vibe. And why were some songs so long???
Maggie May >>>>>>> Rod Stewart has such fun music overall
Loving the Derry accent, but not my thing
blister in the sun!!!!!!!!!! gone daddy gone was fun! not really my style (like everything else I've listened to thus far, but I am having fun with it.
pretty voice, interesting album concept, not something I'd revisit and no real standouts.
lots of classic singles from my childhood
opening with let's go crazy and closing with purple rain, holy shit. also, this is pretty obviously a 5-star album from the jump despite never having heard it in its entirety.
fine, some highlights (pinball wizard). not something I'd listen to on my own 2.5
album is too long and the best song was the only song I'd already heard 2 stars
cool sound, but otherwise boring
totally fine, easy listening, 2.5
fun sound, london calling is a classic. A few skips overall. 2 stars.
chill background music, didn't really notice it while I worked tbh
good stuff is good, others not so much...
A little confused as to how/why the mother we share became the hit that it was.
wilddddddddddddddddddddd, feels like tripping
all I know by the verve is bittersweet symphony, so this was interesting. unfortunately when you already know their best song, there's not as much excitement with the rest
perfection — I've never actually listened to the entire album, but boy, what a gift!
some good tracks/vibes, though the best song was a deluxe uk track?
longgggggggggggggggggggg but I enjoyed the sound overall. made it through disk 2, then just listened to the remaining songs with high play counts.
standouts include: let's call the whole thing off
right off the bat, why are these songs so long??? 5 minutes in, I get it. I'm at the chicken shack, if I think about it, the songs seemingly go on forever, but I don't actually notice because the music is good and the vibes are right, that's life, baby. I'm enjoying myself. 4 stars.
I feel like I am listening to the z103.5 drive at 5 street mix. Not my fave, but there are some classics, though I am used to hearing much shorter versions of them when they're being mixed.
Other notes:
- Around the World is so much longer than I realized
- Rock n Roll hurt my brain, and I hope to never hear it again
- This whole album makes me feel like I'm in space in the 90s
- Alive had me nodding my head a bit
Easy listening, but overall not quite my tempo (iykyk). 2.5
interestinggggggggg, the instrumentals were nice. chill vibes overall. I liked heatwave best, or maybe it's just the one I took notice of while I worked?
I love this so much. I obviously knew the singles as a kid, but I have never listened to this album in its entirety.
2 songs and 40 minutes later, I want to go to a jazz club
much longer than I wanted, but pretty enjoyable listening overall
mostly fun, top 1001 album worthy though? questionable
I had a great time listening to this
fine, I just don't care???
Good thing Timmy Chalamet has pissed me off because I can't stand Bob Dylan and wouldn't want to have to suffer through that BD movie
not bad, but not my thing
weird and iconic. I get it.
This was good. Something I'd love if it was more recent. I'll have to remember to come back to this. 3.5
Songs were a little long, but this is relatively inoffensive background music. Top 1001 albums of all time? Idk about that. I feel like I'm Ryan Gosling in space, this was chillllllllll
this felt...... long. Chicago is such a standout, and the only song I knew going into this album. I wish more of the album sounded like that. I don't think I'd ever listen to this again in full.
it's hard when you have an iconic hit that is known by all, regardless of what type of music they're typically into. this started off with a bang and then faded into background music for me. 2.5
Not really my thing, but it was fine??? 2.5
idk, this was released when I was 1, so it's not for me. weird, yes. cool, maybe? the last song made me feel like I was going insane. I'm once again questioning how these 1001 albums were selected.
foot tapping after the first few notes, automatic +1 star.
not as good as I was hoping it would be, american girl is the clear stand out. 3 stars.
first song had me tapping my feet. I get the RC hype (sorry for not getting it before, this was way before my time and not something I grew up listening to). 3.5
there is more to life than this sounds like I am in the club; I am obsessed.
vibey, great sound, fun. I can't stand when albums put all the remixes and different versions at the end so eventually I did tune it out.
Briefly thought I was listening to Death Cab for a minute.
Does Endlessly sample Silent Night???
Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp >>>>>
We Will Not Be Lovers???? Holy shit. Blackbird mention???
This is actually so good, I got halfway through disk two without even realizing. Typically, I can't stand albums this long, but this is soooooooooo good. last song being 12 min is crazy, but I liked the album, so they're allowed this fauxpas
I expected to hate this tbh. Great guitar solos, good vibe overall. 3.5
