Suicide by Suicide

Exactly the sort of grinding repetitive synth noise that I love. Happy with this find. Although I was not quite prepared for the trauma of Frankie Teardrop. Lovely coincidence that the song and album features on the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere which I watched later in the day on a flight.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Dec 23 2025

Quite incredible how old this album is and that TRS are still recording and touring.

Queen II by Queen
Dec 24 2025

This album was mostly unfamiliar to me, apart from Seven Seas of Rhye, which I absolutely loved as an 10, 11-year old. It brings strong memories of listening to the Queen Greatest Hits while playing a fantasy role player book called City of Thieves. The entire album seems to fit that genre for me.

In Rainbows by Radiohead
Jan 01 2026

The album that made me properly become a Radiohead fan.

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Jan 03 2026

A classic.

Since I Left You by The Avalanches
Jan 04 2026

This was huge when I was at university, ‘Frontier Psychiatrist’ seemed to be on student radio all the time. Fun album.

Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters
Jan 05 2026

Keep thinking I'm listening to Elton John. Fun; little bit too bouncy for me.

Violator by Depeche Mode
Jan 07 2026

Some absolute gems.

Vivid by Living Colour
Jan 08 2026

Sounds so contemporary for a record from 1988.

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Jan 11 2026

One of a kind voice. Love the Bowie influence on this one.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club
Jan 13 2026

I remember this taking the world by storm back in the late 90s but somehow it never connected at that time. Now I see the similarity with Calexico, right up my street - not to mention it's español.

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Jan 14 2026

Very much reminded me of Paul Simon and then it turned out that’s because they featured on an album from when I was small. Or perhaps even before that. Good facts.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
Jan 15 2026

Odd, proggy, chaotic - a forerunner of GOAT? My first introduction to this band was via The Simpsons and it’s an association that won’t budge.

Pieces Of The Sky by Emmylou Harris
Jan 16 2026

I want to like it but it's so very country.

Abbey Road by Beatles
Jan 17 2026

Classic but also a little uneven. And yet..a classic.

The Specials by The Specials
Jan 19 2026

This is a great debut album. Not one I want to listen to a lot though.

Tommy by The Who
Jan 20 2026

Definitely one to return to. An epic.

I’m a Lonesome Fugitive by Merle Haggard
Jan 21 2026

This was a real stretch for me! Interesting to go in a very different direction.

1999 by Prince
Jan 24 2026

Incredible that this album came out in 1982.

Toys In The Attic by Aerosmith
Jan 25 2026

Musically I like this although there’s some questionable subject matter that distracts. ‘Sweet Emotion’ is beautiful.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Jan 26 2026

Nice discovery.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 27 2026

Something about the instrumentation and pacing of this one really cuts through for me. Love it.

Suicide by Suicide
Jan 29 2026

Exactly the sort of grinding repetitive synth noise that I love. Happy with this find. Although I was not quite prepared for the trauma of Frankie Teardrop. Lovely coincidence that the song and album features on the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere which I watched later in the day on a flight.

Be by Common

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
Feb 02 2026

A long and varied album. I feel like if it was edited down it would be tighter and more impactful.

Melodrama by Lorde
Mar 16 2026

Some bangers indeed.

Fire Of Love by The Gun Club
Mar 19 2026

I liked this; would I listen again? Maybe.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Mar 21 2026

Evocative on an era when I was small. I don’t love it but it seems like great music.
