1/29/2026 - Listened during morning work. Liked this more than I thought I would and recognized a few of the songs.
Top song - Down by the River
1/30/26 - Listened throughout the workday. Album is too long, wasn't able to make it through the entire thing in one sitting. If this was cut down to one album, it would have been even more highly regarded.
Best Song - Muzzle
2/2/26 - listened on drive to dentist. Banger of a big band jazz album.
Top Song - Duet
2/3/26 - Listened on drive to work. Really enjoyed it. Almost a 5 star album to me though probably would need more listens to officially make that call.
Top Song - Lust to Love
2/4/26 - listened on the way to work. Enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Would be great for a camp fire or Golden Hour background music.
Top Song - Man in the Shed
2/5/26 - Listened during work in the morning. Was fine. Nothing very memorable but sounded like Queen.
Top Song - Father to Son
2/6/26 - Listened during work. Not really my thing, even though its very Motown forward, but its fine.
Top Song - No Thing on Me
2/9/26 - Listened during work. I like the Black Keys and I liked this album. It faded a bit towards the end but still solid and something I would listen to again.
Top song - Tighten Up
2/10/26 - listened on way to work. Four out of the nine tracks are all timers. This one gets five stars.
Best Song - Your all I’ve got tonight
2/11/26 - Listened while I did our taxes. Sounded like great classic rock to me, I thoroughly enjoyed.
Top Song - Mama We're All Crazy Now
2/12/26 - Listened during work. So many classics, its hard not to enjoy this one. Can't bring myself to go full 5 stars when most (all?) of these are covers but its an easy 4 star with a number of timeless classics.
Best Song - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow (reminds me of Police Academy)
2/13/26 - Listened during work. I have heard this album a few times before and never really understood the hype. I may have liked it more today than previous listened but I still can't give it more than a 3. I just find some of it annoying, and I used to really like this kind of music. Oh well.
Top song - Wide Awake (I do love this song)
2/16/26 - listened driving to take my car into the shop. Was fine. Highs were high, lows were low.
Best Song - Jet!
2/17/26 - Just so weird. Listened throughout the entire day because the album is so long. I didn't hate it but I would never listen to it again. Feels like something that plays at the dentist. And I actually do think some of the songs are played at my dentist.
Top Song - Inner City Light
2/18/26 - Listened during work. Probably would have loved this when I was in high school or college. Definitely feel early Death Cab for Cutie was inspired by this album.
Best Song - Never Said
2/19/26 - Listened during work. Have mixed feelings on it. This would be a perfect 3.5 in my book as I could see myself putting it on again if I was in the right mood but I wasn't blown away by it. I do not round up though so will remain a 3.
Top Song - Call the Police
2/20/26 - Listened during "work". This was great, I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would have. Really enjoyed the vibes and all of the samples. I feel like I will play this again to really dig into each song. Five stars!
Top Song - Bonita Applebaum
2/23/26 - Listened during "work". This is my favorite U2 album and I don't really like U2. The radio hits are all classics but the album tracks are all good to great as well. Where the Streets Have No Name is probably the best overall song here with an iconic opening.
Top Song - Besides the radio hits, Bullet the Blue Sky.
2/24/26 - Listened during "work". I really like the White Stripes but found this album to be mediocre. Not too much stood out to me as special, though I understand the ground it broke at the time. As it stands, this is middle of the road White Stripes.
Best Song - Now Mary
2/25/26 - Listened during "work". This was so strange and catchy and not at all what I thought it was going to be. The first half was stronger than the second half but I could absolutely see myself listening to this again. By definition, that is a four star album.
Top Song - Sigourney Weaver
2/26/26 - Listened during "work". I've heard a lot about Ryan Adams, good and bad, over the years, but have never really listened to him. This is another album I would have really loved in college.
Top song: Oh My Sweet Carolina
2/27/26 - Listened during "work". Not sure what to think. It had me rocking out a bit I can admit, but I have interest in listening to this kind of music.
Top Song - Soul Searching
3/2/26 - Listened during breakfast. I owned this cd but don't remember anything about it other than the singles. Sounded like a 90s rock album. Was fine, probably another 3.5 album but as always I round down. I also always thought the lyric was "now your really naked" in Celebrity Skin but that is never uttered.
Top Song - Boys on the Radio (other than the singles)
3/3/26 - Listening while doing some work. I was a bit disappointed in this album given what I know about the Mama's and the Papa's. It was fine but not anything I need to listen to again.
Top Song - Monday, Monday
3/4/26 - Listened during work. I enjoyed it and was surprised I didn't know more of the songs. An easy listen.
Top Song - Care of Cell 44
3/5/26 - listened during a drive to a meeting. I enjoyed it but probably nothing I would listen to again. Some of the skits were unnecessary.
Best Song - Jenifa Taught Me
3/6/26 - Listened while driving to golf. It was fine but nothing super exciting. I did hear some influences on Pearl Jam songs, their more "punky" ones. Middle of the road for me.
Top Song - Mystery Achievement
3/9/26 - Listened during "work". I really enjoyed it and some of the songs I did not realize were Janis Joplin. Specifically Cry Baby and Move Over. This is a classic that I would totally listen to again. Full Monty!
Top Song - Cry Baby
3/10/26 - listened while walking the dog. LIked this much better than I expected. It was fun and had me jamming out. Can't go the full five because there were no classic hits but a solid four that I will probably keep thinking about. Lil' Devil was copied by STP on Heaven and Hotrods, to an obvious extent.
Top Song - Electric Ocean, but enjoyed a number of them fairly equally
3/11/26 - listened while walking the dog and driving to golf. I didn’t really like it and am very interested in knowing why this made the list. Debated between 1 and 2 stars. The Nirvana covers were the highlight but only because I knew them, and the originals are much worse than the covers.
Top Songs - uhhhh
3/12/2026 - Listened while walking dog and driving to a meeting. It wasn't as weird as I expected. It basically sounded like a late 60's hippie album but in a different language. I wouldn't listen again but it was fine for what it was.
Top Song - uhhhhh
3/13/26 - Listened at the computer. It was honestly a bit of a disappointment as I do not know that much about Simon and Garfunkel and wanted it to be better. Also, learning that the second half is a collection of outtakes from the movie made this choice even more surprising.
Top Song - Voices of Old People
3/16/26 - Listened at computer. Bjork is ugh. I've never understood her, literally and figuratively. That said, this is fine background music but there is no interest in every playing this again.
Top Song - Venus As a Boy
3/17/26 - Listened at the computer. It sounded exactly like 80s punk rock. I liked some of it but some of it sounded like noise. As it is exactly what it said it was going to deliver, I rate it middle of the road.
Top Song - Garbageman
3/18/26 - listened while driving. I liked it and it was a vibe. Some songs didn't hit me as much as others but seems like it would be good background music during Golden Hour or relaxing on the deck. Probably a 3.5 or so but will round down based on my rules.
Top Song - Smile Please
3/19/26 - listened while driving. It was fine for a genre I don’t really enjoy. Middle of the road.
Top Song - Slavery Days
3/20/26 - listened while driving. I do not like Prog Rock or Jam Bands. That said, I actually enjoyed this. It was not nearly as self-indulgent as I expected and went by fairly quickly.
Top Song - I've Seen All Good People
3/23/26 - listened at the computer. I really like this vibe. My old roommate's favorite musician was Van Morrison but I never got into him. This I could see myself continuing to listen to. A number of classics and good vibes = five stars!
Top Song - Glad Tidings
3/24/26 - listened while driving. Very Doors-esque. I liked it and would listen again. But I wanted more songs and less of the 17 minute title track. Debated a rating but going to stick with a 4.
Top Song - Are You Happy
3/25/26 - Listened at the computer. Was excited to listen to this album since I've heard much about Velvet Underground but have never listened to them. I liked it good enough. Definitely something I would listen to again but not sure if its an all time classic.
PS - Lou Reed will always be associated in my mind with the night in Baltimore where Pearl Jam "broke up".
Top Song - Beginning to See the Light
3/27/26 - listened while driving to golf. It was downhill after the first song. Seems like generic 80s music. Only giving it 3 stars but tempted to take away a star due to how poorly I golfed.
Top Song - Karma Camellion
3/27/26 - this might have been my favorite album of the journey so far. All the songs blended together but I liked the sound and it was fun.
Top Song - no clue but they were all good
