1001 Albums Summary

Probably more of a 2.5 but ends on a high point with riders of the storm

Music is fine, would be much better with a different singer in my opinion

Have listened to this before and it didn't leave much of an impression this time either, all very well put together but does nothing for me 🤷‍♂️

Original tracklisting would probably be 5 stars but expanded/bonus tracks now drag it down a bit

Tried several times but listening to a whole album of prince does nothing for me, this time was no exception

Music for coked up dads whose children no longer love them

Horrible racist moaning, a useful reminder of how pathetic being small minded can be 🤮

Not something I'd choose to listen to, find the trumpet a bit grating 😬 Obviously technically very good otherwise

Very little variety

Pretty good, not easy listening probably would grow to enjoy more on repeated listening

Bit dull

Would've scored higher but found the unimaginative drumming grating across a whole album, every track has the same beat throughout with no variation. Drums sound very thin too which makes them stand out more.

Preferred the first half

Not for me, 2000s production makes these sort of songs feel very cheesy

Not as bad as I was expecting, not something I'd generally choose to listen to but have had worse albums as part of this process

Love Iggy as radio presenter but his music doesn't do much for me

Starts really strong but interest drops off later

Music is fine but lyrics lean too much into entitled whining like Morrissey's solo work, at least he was not overtly racist yet though

It's fine but wouldn't choose to listen to this, preferred them when they started and weren't so relentlessly self important. Too much head not enough heart.

First time listening to this all the way through, clearly a big influence on post punk and new wave acts which followed

When they started to be more interesting

Band never done anything for me, always feel like they're posers who take a lot from what came before without adding anything innovative

Not as good as sound of silence, some good tracks but old people talking really doesn't add anything

Not really my thing but nice enough 🤷‍♂️

Feel like this is the point they started taking themselves too seriously, some fun tracks but also some overwrought more serious tracks which may work for some but for me 🤢
