Finally something fucking weird. Incase you didn't know that I'm basically a child, all I can think about is South Park's impression of a German person engagin in shit sex. Shizer? Ya.

This one grew on me over time, like the seven cherry red angiomas that speckle my hairy chest.
It would defy pretzel logic to give this any less than 5/5 hot pretzels.

Alanis Morissette
3/5
Here we go, first album. Album art is peak 1995.
All I Really Want is this to be over.
You Oughta Know is a banger.
Hand in My Pocket of course is great. TAXI-cab.
I'm wondering if I'll like anything that's not a single.
I don't but there are a lot of singles.
The Prodigy
5/5
This is an instant classic to me. Remember hearing these tracks all over super early internet, DLing this album on KaZaa....driving around with it blasting. Let's see how it holds up.
The fucking crab.
A 90s kids intro to aggression in electronic music
First mediocre track is Narayan, track 7. Pretty amazing run before that.
Strong recovery, Firestarter at 8 is dirty work.
Climbatize, forgot how good that was. that weird little wooden marimba shit is addictive.
Jefferson Airplane
4/5
Grateful for this one, never really listen to a Jefferson Airplane album right on through.
This albums mix is real shitty. No idea if hts the compression of Spotify or what but it sounds super flat and quiet. It might just be the whiplash from me getting my teeth kicked in by prodigy.
TODAY is so classy and iconic. I thought Today had a honky lil sax solo at the end. Just googled that it's from a Tom Scott cover. Must be from a deep ZQ playlisty. I prefer the cover!!! That sax is saxy.
GO TO HER has a riff that sounds like half of the garagey surf rock from bands ive listened to in the 2010's
COME BACK BABY has a tasty riff. Gives me Sure Nuff n Yes I do or whatever from The Magic Band.
The Rolling Stones
5/5
I'm a little embarrassed to say that most of my stones listening has come from 95.9 The River and and echoes down the hall from Zak's room in my 20's. I'm excited for a more dedicated listen.
DEAR DOCTOR - it's funny to hear these british teenagers sing about virginia
It sounds great, I'm listening to the 50th anniv remaster because thats all spotify had. Wonder how diff it is from the OG mix.
Yeah this album rules.
Damn this is a quick one, love it.
Its a sunny spring morning and this hits right.
Light 5.
Kanye West
4/5
Can't believe how old this shit is. I liked Kanye's music, didn't love it, but I did bump it. Kanye is a crazy dick now. It will be interesting to relisten to this with my recent bias of him being a Nazi.
It's a fun listen. Kanyes flow is a bit shit and lyrically hes not always interesting but he's just a really good song writer. The album
The actual production is a little rough but it the album has a DIY feel and spontaneity that makes it all work.
SLOW JAMZ stands out to me because it has an actual rapper on it. Anything with relieving kanye of some rapping makes the tracks infinitely more interesting.
It's light hearted and fun and was played at every party I went to in college.
I miss the old Kanye.
Probably a light 5 downgraded to a solid 4 because Nazi.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
Cam and I spoke about how fun it is to have a dedicated Led Zeppeling listen. Their music is so omnipresent, it's easy for it to settle into the background. It melts into the space its playing it.
CELEBRATION DAY riff is dirty
album cover has middle school binder lisa frank nrg
No matter what I do I have trouble giving this record undivided attention. I can't explain it. It's great, but it doesn't grab a hold of me.
solid 4.
Bob Dylan

Green Day
4/5
This album came out when I was 7. I don't think I was really aware that this band existed til American Idiot came out in 2004 and ruined everyones lives. Atleast it felt like that to me at the time. Nothing about being blasted all over MTV and the Billboard charts and 35 years old with eyeliner felt punk at all. I digress.
This album art is awesome. It's burned into my psyche.
This is meant to be listened to on 10. Shit is catchy. Dookie is a funny word. Makes be yearn for the 90s
CHUMP rolls right into LONGVIEW really seamlessy, not really something I expected from a punk album. LONGVIEW is a killer track.
I'm not acquainted enough with punk to apprecite this record fully or to properly hate on it.
light 4.

Crowded House
1/5
i really like the title and album art. I felt ready and willing for something completely bizarre. I'm ready to be impressed.
These are the same cats that did DONT DREAM IT'S OVER (heyyy now heeeeyyy noowwwww) - which is a solid song.
Early take-aways....yawn.
CHOCOLATE CAKE has me running for the hills. Imagine seeing them live and being super excited they played this song. When I hear this song I think of zak for some reason.
Vocals on first few tracks are offputting. It's dadc0re. i'm trying to put myself in the headspace of someone in 1981 and turning this on, but I keep just switching to talking heads.
Crowded house sounds like so much of the safe early alt Rock. Train, matchbox 20 that isn't catchy.
I actually like the guitar tone and little lick in IT'S ONLY NATURAL. It sounds like realestate to me. I wish they jammed more in that space, the lyrics and the singing makes it feel so formulaic.
FALL AT YOUR FEET sucks but I understand why it was popular on the radio. Imagine loving this song. lmao
TALL TREES I actually kind of like. the cool guitar tone is back. Lil guitar solo, like super little. Cmon just jam out a little you nerds.
diggin the instrumentation on WEATHER WITH YOU, but i'm a sucker for that sitar sound. Chorus is super lame. they jump the shark on every song. its actually incredible
FOUR SEASONS IN ONE DAY fuckin sucks.
okay I'm just skipping songs now. I'm dreaming it's over.
I wonder if it's called ITALIAN PLASTIC because they are using crappy melodica. nerds
i really hated this whole listening experience.
firm 1.
The Rolling Stones
5/5
How these guys sound more American than the fucking Boss blows my mind. Still boggles me that these guys are english.
Once again, I've heard all these songs out of context, but I can't recall sitting down and listening to this album all the way down.
Blues, Country, Soul, all through the stones rock n roll blender. Nearly as timeless as Woodface by Crowded House (1981).
It's more apparent than ever to me how much this band has been influenced by black american music. Did the rolling stones make it their own? It certainly seems like they have. Did they they do it enough? Have the paid proper tribute to Howlin' Wolf, Muddy waters, Chuck Berry etc...I have no clue.
It must have been crazy to be english and hear the stones on the radio. I imagine american blues was adored....but had to be pretty niche. the stones probably sounded from another planet to the average english listener in 1971.
Anyways, this shit is great. I love the horns on this album. So ahead of their time. It's fun to draw the line to modern acts I've consumed through my 20's and 30's like King Khan and the Shrines and Twin Peaks for instance...
Near perfect. Good as ever.
Hard 5.
Talking Heads
4/5
Experimental and weird, but still manages to be an easy listen and catchy. Way ahead it’s time. I need a couple more spins of it to fully appreciate it.
Growing 4.
Cream
3/5
I thought I was going to like this way more than I did. Singles like strange brew found their way to my Napster torrent que when I was a teenager. But overall I found it uninspiring.
Thanks to the psychedelic guitar distortion I was able to momentarily look over the cheesiness of DANCE THE NIGHY AWAYS lyrics and the absurdity of Clapton dancing a night away
BLUE CONDITION sounds like a Tim heidecker song taking the piss out of white guys playing the blues.
Clapton annoys me.
Cyndi Lauper
3/5
well shit, I enjoyed that. It's campy and so 80's and i love it for that. Cindy Lauper has a great emotive voice. She sounds like could go punk at any moment in this record.
For me it's a 3, but almost a 4 - I enjoyed it more than Disraeli Gears ffs.
Dr. Dre
5/5
ngl I'm on my first day back at work after a vacay, and shits crazy, so my listen wasn't as dedicated as I like to usually give....which pains me because I have woodface so much of me.
anyways, i'm not sure what I can say to add to the discussion of The Chronic. It's a bonafide classic that defined the west coast sound. it's hard as fuck and I want it on vinyl
5.
Richard Thompson
5/5
Listening to this whole doing the dishes. I feel like you either gotta be driving or doing dishes.
I know absolutely nothing about this band and album. Nothing at all.
WHEN I GET TO THE BORDER has some really incredible guitar work. I love how it switches styles needlessly but it totally works. Guitar wants to kill your momma vibes.
Love the spooky vocal harmonies on CALVARY CROSS.
Richard Thompson vocals walked so neutral milk hotel vocals could belly
flop on pavement.
I WANT TO SEE BRIGHT LIGHTS TONIGHT is so fucking cool what the fuck. That steezy lil guitar and then the fucking trumpet what the fuck? who can’t identify with the lyrics.
This sounds so waaay way ahead of its time. These guys basically invented indie
B side is gorgeous sounding…but doesn’t take my breath away like A did. It settles in, which I think is ok.
THE GREAT VALERIO is a haunting closer. And it ends so abruptly!!!
I’m a sucker for folk rock and I can see how this album might have influenced bands decades later. It helped my attention for the whole duration. I’d love to own it.
Solid 5 for me, despite the less compelling b side.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
3/5
i've been holdin out hope for the Creedance, man.
CCR and their stripped back no bullshit sound has always connected with me. I'd suffer through hotel california on the local classic rock radio station 95.9 the river while driving around in highschool to get a sniff of Fortunate Son. And play it super fuckin loud.
I love CCRs music, but moreso than I actually like Bayou Country as an album. It as a collection doesn't move quite like blasting Bad Moon rising or sitting around in the heat and listening to Lodi.
I feels weird saying this but it's a 3 for me.
Still love CCR man.
The Beach Boys
4/5
beach boys with the doom metal album cover. I think this is the second beach boys record ive listened through, outside of Pet Sounds. I'm excited to hear them get weird and its funny to jump right into their...17th album. Feels out of order and disorienting.
Surprises so far. Wiki tells me of the thin vocal arrangements, and I noticed that immediately. This isn't what you think about when you think about the beach boys, and I dig that.
LONG PROMISED ROAD with the fuzzed out boops
TAKE A LOAD OFF YOUR FEET feels like familiar ground (hah), but more irreverent. Vampire Weekend bois had this shit on repeat.
Im not listening to the lyrics of DISNEY GIRLS but i chooses to believe that they are making fun of them. like the tune, chill, but has lil wah wah guitars underneath which is a little spicy
STUDENT DEMONSTRATION TIME with the bigger fuzzed out riff. rad. trippy. i like. song is a little corny with the bluesy breakdown but im probably just damaged goods.
FEEL FLOWS is a standout for me. free wheelin and meandering, sweet solo over a piano bed with some noodly flute. dumb burpy synths. sign me up.
LOOKIN AT TOMORROW is a vibe. ba ba boop boop boop
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A TREE sounds like what a tree would listen to.
I'm preferring side B on this bad boy. My affection is growing.
Really pleasant listen. Solid 4 for me. Not a 5, just because I'm not sure ill be revisiting frequently.
Curtis Mayfield
5/5
I scooped this record at an estate sale down the street from me a couple months ago. Jacket was a little beat, and it was priced slightly too high, but I walked all the way over there and rummaged through a bunch of shitty music, I had to walk away with something - and I'm glad that I did
its a beautiful, addictive, extremely playable record. it effortlessly cool. its good shit. its super fly
its a 5.
Blondie
3/5
debbie harry is hot. she reminds me of my wife, who i am VERY attracted to. too bad my wife can't sing. shes awful!
HANGING ON THE TELEPHONE and ONE WAY OR ANOTHER are kick ass. I've heard the former a bajillion times, but I prefer the prior.
PICTURE THIS and FADEAWAY are a snooze.
I KNOW BUT I DON'T KNOW has a great bass line and groove thats sounds a little bit like a punk song. Solo is great too
11:59 has a pace im enjoying, another groovy riff..and a surprise organ! Vocals seem too concerned with sounding pretty, i want that snarl from my wife i mean debbie.
WILL ANYTHING HAPPEN sounds super punk. This record is getting better as it goes on for me.
HEART OF GLASS is a classic
IM GONNA LOVE YOU TOO has a little growl.
JUST GO AWAY like the backing vocals.
overall enjoyable, but not something i'd often come back to. its just a little too tidy for me.
3.
Stevie Wonder
3/5
Have you guys heard of Stevie Wonder? I have, but I've never given Stevie Wonder a dedicated listen before.
HAVE A TALK WITH GOD is groovier than it has any right to be. Funky af but don’t tell me how to love my life Stevie
VILLAGE GHETTO LAND needs requires some focus on lyrics to fully appreciate it, which isn't natural for me. Its regal instrumentation contrasts the story of a ghetto at the end of a block. Even taking the piss out of politcians. witty social commentary here from stevie.
CONTUSION rules with the Zappa esque instrumental scramble intersecting razor sharp guitar riffs
SIR DUKE and the rest of this album are making me want to upgrade my sound setup. Not sure the 25 year old plastic logitechs are doing this beautiful mix justice.
KNOCKS ME OFF MY FEET is subject matter and song writing that typically puts me to sleep but Stevie knows how to make the ordinary extra
PASTIME PARADISE - coolio sampled Stevie?? Wtf. Its like the same song, almost a cover...oh the irony of coolio not liking Weird Al doing a parody of it.
I like BLACK MAN.
I have to say it. This album is too long. I'm losing interest. It's a record that calls for active listening to me....it's not a meandering soundscape , it doesn't fill the BG for a dinner party. It's a series of songs and singles that go back to back, separate thoughts....and 2 hours is too long for me. It's hard for me to get past that when I do love the songwriting and production in places so much. Some shit just isn't your thing no matter how good it is. This is my first dip into Stevie, and right into his 18th album mangum opus is probably too much to ask.
A confused 3 that will could evolve into a 4 over time.
Simon & Garfunkel
5/5
look at these sweet boys. feral. likely cut their own hair while mommy and daddy were distracted! its nice of them to sit so still for this photo.
my theme of "i like this musical act but ive never really sat down and listened to their ablums continues".
I have a soft spot for S&G. Their music relaxes me.
this album is an infinite repeat for me. its very easy to listen to. It's beautiful. It's run time is a relief after Stevie.
its a 5.
RIP lee lee
XTC
2/5
I do not like this. It's unique, but just not my vibe. I don't think I have the energy today to make lemonade, so it's a 2.
I listened to it again and it's still pretty meh to me.
EARN ENOUGH FOR US is pretty catchy
2. I like the production and I want to like it more and I dont.
Jimi Hendrix

It was an experience. YEAAuuh.
Found new appreciation for the other two of the trio through repeat listens. Especially the drummer.
Crazy crazy quality on a debut album.

Paul Simon

I like how Paul Simon integrates so many different sounds from different types of music, from different places. He has a way of making everything his own.
paul is ez listenin with a soul
Def Leppard
2/5
62 minutes 32 seconds. damn
i figured that if def leppard had one thing going for them, it'd be brevity.
this album cover rules. triangles are all the rage, and it ties in the absurdly angular def leppard font. slashing hand written type with weird kerning contrasts all the sharp angles. faces scream, for some reason as alien hyrogliphic startrek meet predator giberish explodes from all angles. im rdy for 60 minutes of mair metal now.
Im not loving it, but im not exactly hating it. it's inoffensive arena music.
BG vocals are so tinny and icy, they make my nipples hard (not in a good way)
2 arms are essential for drumming
hey its over!
2
Wu-Tang Clan
5/5
how can a band sound so hard, but be so nerdy at the same time? wutang has a sense of humor...a way of not taking themselves too seriously, that I value in all music but especially appreciate in very macho landscape like hip hop. But they aint soft. They are weird, they say whatever they want, they write about what they want, they sampled whatever the hell they wanted....they are unapolagetically themselves. and they sound fucking great while doing it.
wutang is undeniable and infectious. what a debut album.
hard af 5
Ice T
3/5
im stoked to listen to this right after wutangs 36 chambers.
I always thought Ice T had a great opportunity to develop a business around selling Iced Tea.
off the hop its clear to me that Ice-T was of the time, and Wutang was ahead of it.
rhyming style feels straightforward and storytelling oriented, like folk music. because of it the bars are less interesting to listen to passively. I really have to follow along with it to get the gag, which isnt my style of listening, and doesn't always have a payoff that rewards you for your attention.
beats are pretty straight forward and lacking imagination. nothin too catchy for me here. i prefer more sampling, i think.
Bitches 2 is a funny track. goofy lazy trumpet.
TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS AT THE DISCO, TWO BROTHERS STEPPED...UP TO ...ME AND SAID, HEY..YO!
THE REAL FUCKIN SHIT GOES DOOWWWWNN.... TAKE A LOOK AROOOOUND! ALL THE PUSSES CAN BE FOUND!
I like what Ice T stands for more than I actually like his music.
BODY COUNT is a great example of that, I love that he has a hardcore song in the middle of this album. Even if I don't particularly like the song (i don't)...but its fuckin cool that he goes for it.
FUCK TIPPER GORE, BUSH, AND HIS CRIPPLED BITCH.
I like it. I respect it...i dont love it. but i respect it.

The Clash
4/5
the clash are fuckin cool.

Johnny Cash

admittedly I only gave it one listen. I did enjoy it, but didn't sink in any substantial way. It may be a grower for me.

Jeff Buckley
3/5
dirty projectors sounds like radiohead today
i def hear the plant/zepp influence
okay i like this. id like it more if the album cover didnt look like this. its terribly offputting, but the music is pretty damn progressive.
I can hear (or think I hear) a little jeff buckley instrumentation and guitar playing influence on bands like grizzly bear, which i think is cool...especially in GRACE, sounds just like a Grizz tune. Beautiful
Jeff's vocals are very emotive. It's clear how hes influenced indie acts from the 2000's
SO REAL guitar tone...really nice, Grizz jacked that 4 sho
I skipped HALLELUJAH 3 minutes in
ETERNAL LIFE woke me up. this song is a peak through the window of what it would look like if Jeff tried to be more trendy, and it works.
Overall I really enjoyed it. Tracks that I really like are a bit scattered all over the album, and because of that I can't give it more than a 3. But I appreciate what he was doing here.
The Thrills
2/5
What happens with 5 Irish lads and 2 Irish ladies listen to too much Ben Folds and like California a lot (have you heard of it)? The Thrills!
This shit sucks. No surprises. Completely edgeless. Never ending oooohhhh waaaasss and ba ba baaas!! Cloying lyrics
SANTA CRUZ, BIG SUR, HOLLYWOOD KIDS. Yuck!
I'm ready for chocolate cake after this.
Why is this on this list? I suppose having some stuff I loathe on it is more fun.
Last track is far and away the least appalling song on this album. I think I actually like it. Guitar is more western, nice slide....organ....limited ooooh waaa ba ba baaaas!
I'm literally bumping this from a 1 to a 2 because of the last song, which faraway has the least streams on spotify which is hilarious to me.
2
Gil Scott-Heron
3/5
Some r&b n jazz is a welcome sight.
Found it pretty relaxing, albeit nothing stood out to me and stuck to my ribs musically.
I admittedly need more listens to get his music and his message to sink in
Pleasant in my single spin
3 with room to grow
The Smiths
3/5
sab boy week.
bubba made a comment about how its all about the guitarist, and I have to agree. In all my fave tracks, morrissey got out of the way and marr shredded.
solid, but as a whole doesnt connect with me.
3!
Rocket From The Crypt
3/5
it was fast. it was loud. it was fun.
3
Turbonegro
3/5
fast and loud and fun. I listened to this while I did some animation work.
PRINCE OF THE RODEO rips.
I think I consume punk like how the rest of the world consumes pop. I either like it or I don't but it's pretty easy for me to conclude and it's not a precious decision.
I like how this band is taking the piss out of a music scene that was largely homophobic at the time.
It overstays it's welcome at nearly a 60 min runtime. Would be much stronger if was somewhere between 40-45 for me
straightforward music by a purposely obnoxious band that probably only annoys people that take them too seriously.
They have an album called Ass Cobra
Its a 3 for me, maybe be a 4 if it was shorter and more focused.
Lenny Kravitz
2/5
i didn't realize lenny was such a sweetie pie.
lyrically, these songs could come across a little corny, and occasionally do -- but lenny feels earnest enough to pull it off.
mad respect for pulling this all together himself, all the writing, all the production, and almost all of the instrumentation. you can feel his limitations in the record, but one again - it's earnest. some of my favorite music comes from when artists sound like they are pushing themselves to edge of their ability
it's pg rock. it's cute. it kinda sounds like dated rock n' roll from the later 90's, but it was made in 1989....which confuses me.

Im giving this a 4 so I can qualify for the The Shirt.
I'm looking forward to the unkown pleasures that will be revealed from repeat listens in My Shirt.
It's brazen. Loud. SHE'S LOST CONTROL BONK BONK BONK BONK
its a 4.
The White Stripes
3/5
Okay okay. I listened to this a lot when I was 18 or whatever. I liked the White Stripes, but they were never mine. They were never my shit.
I'm finding it to be a pleasant listen. But similar to when I was 18, it's still not my shit.
Less guitar forward on Get Behind Me Satan, taking some chances which is interesting.
MY DOORBELL is suprisingly dancy.
LITTLE GHOST hits like Jack White doing a weird lil folk song.
THE DENIAL TWIST sounds more classic white stripes. Syncopative piano chords vocals that are punchy and expressive. Splashy cymbals. Some sort of fuckin shaker that holds it all together.
TAKE TAKE TAKE follows a similar formula that makes the white stripes so good.
RED RAIN w dat slide.
Its a high 3 for me. Solid album but theres more to come from Jacky.
CHIC
4/5
This is exactly why I like The Generator. It's forcing genres down my throat like goose loading for a foie gras harvest.
Disco is back on the menu, boys.
First impressions, not oppressively disco-y. Sounds lovely. My goose throat relaxes. It's nearly willing.
Shit is pretty catchy. Production sounds stellar. Its clear how influential this was.
Shit am I about to give a disco album a 4?
4
Black Sabbath
5/5
My prayers have been answered.
Cover has a bro larping in a laser tag warehouse. Bad Ass.
How Bad Ass is Sabbath? Real Bad Ass. Took me a while to find Sabbath, which is embarassing - considering how much they've influnced so much of the music I love. I can partially blame it on Dumb Ass reality TV in the early 2000's making ozzie look not Bad Ass, when he was truly Bad Ass. I put the rest of my blame on my father for not raising me right.
Paranoid falls short of unseating Vol. 4, but doesn't fall short of being Bad Ass.

LCD Soundsystem
5/5
I'm always sad that I was never hip enough to LCD at their peak. I would have played daft punk at my house, at my house, with friends...LCD is the ultimate house party music. It sounds like being 23 to me, and I love it.
The War On Drugs
4/5
Man, I was allllll about this record 10 years ago. I think it still holds up, but I think it has more lulls than it needs in hindsight. Some of the production and the synth/digital beats are a little thin for me now, but overall it still slaps when it slaps. I just wish it slapped more.
Steely Dan
5/5
This one grew on me over time, like the seven cherry red angiomas that speckle my hairy chest.
It would defy pretzel logic to give this any less than 5/5 hot pretzels.

Solid record some new weird ideas, but ultimately falls short of putting something truly interesting together for me. I like where the liars are going, and I’m excited to check out more of their disco
The xx
1/5
I'm not sure this is an Album I Must Listen To Before I Die.
No hooks. Has the personality of an unseasoned overcooked chicken breast. Pop music inspired by spa instrumentals and white people megachurch vocals.
Listen to these track titles. DANGEROUS, SAY SOMETHING LOVING, LIPS, A VIOLENT NOISE, PERFORMANCE, REPLICA, BRAVE FOR YOU, ON HOLD, I DARE YOU, TEST ME. I feel like I'm ready a tweenaged girl's diary.
Jamie XX early shit, or XX's early shit atleast had some bangers. Not my bag, but not a bad bag. This bag is awful.
1/5 bad bags.

should have called this album Goofy Blues, cos that's what it is.
Doors are a weird mix of traditional blues concepts and, tons of keyboard/organ, and morrisons unusual deliverly.
kick ass album. its fun to find new appreciation for this band....realistically first time ive listened closely since i was a teen.

i liked the first two tracks, turns out its because the fellas from velvet underground wrote them. she sings with the energy of my 8 year when I'm trying to get him to school on time. meh
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
4/5
salsa is background music for me. BG music that I like but don't really know much about. PLASTICO brought it to the FG for me with that funky ass disco beat. Really intersting. Enjoyed it all the way through, would spin it again.
Happy Mondays
3/5
First impression: Pills 'n' Thrills And Bellyaches is a terrible name for a band. Wait, that's the album's name. Ok.
I find with this kind of music, from this era, I always have to contextualize it in an effort to enjoy it. It doesn't often happen at face value. Which is funny, because for so many other genre's from different time periods, I don't have to remind myself that it was a slice of life, or cutting edge for the time to give it a fair shake
A few tracks in, this record from Happy Mondays is no different.
DONOVAN is the first track that is doing anything for me. It's pretty dancy, and I like it's low-fi downtempo beat at the top of the track, with the cheesy little accordian. Guitar wails later on. I like it.
BOB'S YER UNCLE gets the nod just for the little sax lick, if for nothing else
STEP ON is a stand out.
This is a low 3 for me. Don't get it completely yet but they are tryin shit. It's the 90's man!
Eagles
3/5
The best thing to come from the Eagles is Gypsy Kings flamenco HOTEL CALIFORNIA cover.
Liam and me, we're gonna fuck. you. up.
NEW KID IN TOWN is easy listening that is just too easy. So are the Eagles.
I'm hoping it gets remotely weird.
LIFE IN THE FAST LANE is a ZZ Top song for nerds.
HOTEL CALIFORNIA + NEW KID IN TOWN = we are easy going driving around band
LIFE IN THE FAST LANE = no no we also drive fast and have an edge
WASTED TIME = jk we are sappy and sentimental. okay here's your ballad laaaayyydies! Laaaaaydies!!! some strings on the end for the ballad for the laaaaydies
WASTED TIME (Reprise) = what the fuck why
VICTIM OF LOVE = how about some rock n roll for the feellllllaaas. We're back fellas!!!
Pixies

ONLY LISTENED ONCE I NEED MORE TIME.
The Smiths

guitars are great throughout. It grooves, it's dancy. While I dig it a lot. But it's not "my shit", and for it to be a 4, it atleast needs to be my shit.
hard 3
Primal Scream
4/5
THE GEN'S most 90's cover art since Fat of the Land. Bro in photoshop cs2 straight cuttin' it up.
I don't know shit about this band but based on the band name and the cover I'm expecting a fire-starter.
BURNING WHEEL is a groove.
GET DUFFY IS smooth, is this morning music? Sexy night time music?
STAR - I've heard this song many times...maybe on a reverberation radio playlist? What a lovely surprise, this track rules.
MEDICATION is some random ass stones worship that I wasn't prepared for doest do much for me.
Light 4. I’ll come back to this one again

great listen all the way through. 90s albums are a little too long.
Meat Loaf
4/5
Super fun. Super massive. Has a sense of humor and rips. Even one of the ballads caught my attention. Also...43 million copies sold world wide? holy shit
Peter Gabriel
2/5
oh boy I didn't like this. Its so over produced. nothing is catchy. It's whack.
Jack White
3/5
Jack White mixin in country and folk is always nice. Its a fun album that is nicely paced but its a little too much shout rapping.
3 megs out of 5 megs
Sepultura
3/5
Happy for the gen gracing us with some metal. Record rips, but nothin on here sinks into me. I prefer metal with some hooks, or a musical blueprint that fees like you were taken some where. Ebbs and flows. This one just grinds into your skull with repetition

Mudhoney
4/5
every good boy DOES deserve fudge
shit rips, its loud. cover art is a 5. album is a 4.
Hanoi Rocks
2/5
im listening to this on youtube because my son has hand foot and mouth disease and hes listening to How To Train Your Dragon audio books on spotify and hes currently on chapter 21 wow great job son
its nice to hear razzle on the drums for the first time.
i dont understand so much music from the 80s. it just whooshes right over my head, kinda like "bop-it" jamesons bass work.

Jimi Hendrix
4/5
an album cover getting designed without an artists approval is pretty whack.
the soft landing with UP FROM THE SKIES was elcome, before we start thumpin on SPANISH CASTLE MAGIC
YOU GOT ME FLOWIN bg vocals sound like the mothers
groovy loose and jammy would scoop.

Ray Charles
3/5
Its beautiful. Nicely mixed. It's a mood, and for me, it's a sleepy one. Sink into a chair. Think a little.
It's a 3 for me. I just don't gravitate to the sound. Perhaps a grower. If Zak bought it for me on vinyl I could listen to it more maybe have some naps.
Björk
3/5
I cradle this joy within my heart's cocoon. Her whispers cascade through the stars, painting echoes for the beloved Knife. The melodies skitter like moonlit shadows, sending shivers through my very essence. It dances in the dusk, mysterious and enchanting, a tapestry woven with threads of marvel.
oh, this joy swirls like stardust! 3 shimmering glacier twilight moments out of 5.
Sheryl Crow
2/5
starting with RUN BABY RUN, boring...vanilla ballad that lacks any of cheryls vocal grit and country swagger is such a strange choice. that song sucks
LEAVING LAS VEGAS is immediately what I expect from a Cheryl song...and its much better.
CANT CRY ANYMORE is really nice. I like the groovy little guitar lick....its the case of, wow thats nice...its a surprise, but why not more? too neutered and pruned for commercial consumption. either way, i dig it, and i wish it was put out front more.
SOLIDIFY is a ....prince song? What the heck. why
im cool with not hearing THE NA NA SONG again.
album is a bit all over....you can tell they are trying to things and try to sort it out. its no wonder why the successful singles established her sound, and songs like this were never to be heard again.
ALL I WANNA DO IS HAVE SOME FUN is the only song i wanna listen to on this album and i have a feeling im not the only one...
cos its not cheryl doing her best fionna impression on WE DO WHAT WE CAN or the last song YUCK

3/5
fuckin loud and take no prisoners insane lyrics and pretty weird. take no prisoners.
its a 3 for me right now since I gravitate to metal that has more hooks and is a little more transformative through the song structure. but this has room to grow.
The Incredible String Band
2/5
Meh
The Offspring
3/5
stupid and fun. makes me feel like im on the bus with my discman.
Morrissey
2/5
I don't know. Maybe it's too precious. Maybe I just don't love his artistic voice and literal voice as a singer/song writer. I’ve also read that he’s a bit of a contrarian xenophobic knob, but I wasn't privy to that before the listen so i can't even blame that for shaping my experience
The Smiths had Marr and it was enough shred to balance it all out for me. This isn't big enough, bold enough, or groovy enough to grab hold of me.
Thelonious Monk
3/5
I like jazz. This is jazz alright. Jazz is good or bad and this is good. But I don’t jazz hard enough to distinguish good jazz from great jazz, other than me gravitating towards it for reasons unknown.
Nanci Griffith
3/5
Competent inoffensive country music that falls into the background.

Leonard Cohen

stone cold classic.
David Crosby
3/5
enjoyed this a lot. super hippy album with a bunch of noodley crap. but it feels good. csny lite. Really pleasant. One for the mornings.
King Crimson
4/5
king crimson are the masters of weird and surprising while remaining approachable. this is borderline easy listening for me while still being pretty out there with its instrumentation and tempo changes.
I don’t think one day is adequate time to fully know this record but I’m excited to get closer to it.
high 4
The Cars
4/5
ive heard 7/9 tracks from this album atleast 4,000 times. blows my mind how stacked the track list is. DON'T CHA STOP and ALL MIXED UP are the only tracks I can't hum in the shower.
these fuckers are from boston? no way lol
it's concise. no wasted space.
undeniably a kickass album. I don't think the cars will ever be my "thing", but its damn good. I know a good thing when i sees it
fuckin sax solo on the closer. outta nowhere. epic. feels like forshadowing to the 80's. goofy synths and sax solos or bust, for better or worse...
4/5 music. 2/5 album cover. she makes me hella uncomfortable.
Elliott Smith
3/5
Lou Reed
5/5
This is nearly a 5 for me. I'm trying to keep 5's sacred, but this is makin it hard.
Lou is effortlessly cool. His song writing clever, cheeky, and his delivery suits it all perfectly.
the balance and restraint in his music with what i percieve as nonchalance is fuckin cat nip
I love songs that have the female vocals ringing in, or have a dopey tuba (is that a tuba?) Is that a recorder...or a pan flute out of no where? Its fucking awesome.
shit i talked myself into a 5
Franz Ferdinand
2/5
Oh boy. My memories are fonder than the reality and they arent really that sparkling to begin with.

solid tunes. sounds super old, cos it is. A little too predictable for me, but like I said, it old as hell and this was probably innovative for its times
Beatles
5/5
Pretty good band with a bright future.
Well damn. Im historically a Beatles hater, because I find their fans annoying more so than their music, but not much to be annoyed by here.
Aretha Franklin
4/5
Great from front to back.
The White Stripes
4/5
this album defines that early 2000s blues rock sound that helped connect the dots from classic rock to modern music for me.
As zak said, easily the best song about childhood ever with WE'RE GOING TO BE FRIENDS. Caught me off guard and made me a little emotional as I was able to relate to it now as a father. time moves too fast.
Would be a 5 for me, but I feel like there are a few too many forgettable tracks on the B side. So a 4 will do.
Miles Davis

Liked it I would buy it but nothin sunk its teeth in. Need more time with.

Depeche Mode
2/5
Badgers are few and far between
ZZ Top
3/5
Eliminator is who I thought ZZ Top was growing up. Catchy, over produced, constantly groovy, and resoundingly 80's. I didn't know they came from somewhere grimier and less slick. Is this version of ZZ a product of the times, or did they help shape it? I'm not sure. The early 80's release date makes me feel like they closer to the bleeding edge than chasing a fad...or maybe they were just timely.
It is admirable how they were able be current but also be boogie woogie...making it pretty damn original. That said, it's strengths is also its weakness for me. A little too polished, a little too clean, a little too restrained. I'm chronically allergic to music that sounds 80's for reasons I'm still trying to understand.
That said, thinking too hard about this album really misses the point.

The Mothers Of Invention

imagine thinking you signed a white blues rock outfit and receving this double lengthed tape? And pressing it. Absurd and ahead of it's time. A sarcastic commentary on LA and American culture. A debut albut. It's incredible.
Fiona Apple

the idea of going from the center of the road, into the ditch, and how the ride is bumpier there but more worthwhile really resonates with me. I love that about neil, he did what he wanted to and thats it. its a beautiful record and one ill surely buy. Not all the tunes are sticking to my ribs yet, but they will in due time.

David Bowie
2/5
didnt connect with this at all. started to appreciate it more on the backhalf, but it was a slog to get there for me. could see it being a 3 for some point, but i can't give it on merit
Sebadoh
2/5
layered confetti encased in wax, sweat, and cigarette smoke - this cover tells me that sedaboh is a low-fi diy operation that isn't concerned with playing OR singing in any sort of semblence of tune. its messy. take it or leave it.
I’m gonna leave it. Oscillates between on the verge of anything to slacking so hard that it just sounds bad. Too long.
