Groovin’ is the obvious hit
Obvious classic, great guitar work, great lyricism and ambiance.
Not a fan but there were Beatles references so 3 stars
Not sure how you could hate this album. The songs are legendary and fun, some of you people are too serious!
An album with the main instrument being a saxophone, 10/10
Praise You and Rockefeller Skank are all I really cared about. I did a lot of skipping because of how boring and obnoxious some songs got, lik In Heaven and Kalifornia.
Refreshing listen, last album for me was a fat boy slim album so this was good!
Eh, not for me. I’m a Dylan fan, but this was just kind of meh.
Basic country shit. Catchy, but won’t revisit.
A classic, funky and sometimes jazzy album. Love it, can turn it on anytime.
This band sucks and the singer is a creep. Couple good songs though, docking points for being shitty all around.
Woof, this was an interesting one. Not my kind of music, I listen to Zappa sometimes and some Iron Butterfly, but outside of that, this was just experimental noise. Won’t revisit.
Not really sure why this album is necessary for us trying to expand our musical mind. It came out the same year the Beatles released Rubber Soul but has the same production of a mid 50s rock album.
Holy crap. Usually I’m annoyed by songs with string out chorus’ but the rhythm and synth on this album is so enjoyable.
Sad, realistic album with little vote for hope. Beautiful lyricism.
A couple “innovative” songs (leaving behind the basic rock and roll that made them popular).
Best grunge album and it’s not even close.
Pure nostalgia trip. I was in 5th or 4th grade maybe. My grandma was going through a musical renaissance herself and Gave the Beatles a break for this, Maroon 5 and some Gwen Stefani lol. Yeah, the classics on here, Time to Pretend, Electric Feel, Kids, really are the powerhouse but the other songs are really good, too. I think these kids were in college just playing their shit for classmates. Pretty creative stuff.
I’m not a metal head, I don’t listen to a lot of this music. But strangely enough, I enjoyed this album. I picked out a few songs I liked the most but I can see myself revisiting this one too find more.
I didn’t learn anything from this experience besides David Bowie’s “China girl” isn’t his at all.
Eh. Basic 60’s sound. Some good tunes but nothing groundbreaking.
Some good songs, I wonder what Dennis would have been able to grow into had he lived longer. This was a drag of an album though, the sound was so similar throughout. Easy listen, nothing to rave about.
Pretty fun listen. Some instrumental, some weird lyrics. Had a good time and will absolutely revisit.
Classic guitarist here with classic guitar riffs. Can’t really hate it at all.
Sparks, Yellow, Trouble. That’s a pretty good three song punch right there. The rest of the album seems kind of eh.
Classic album with some of the best classic rock tunes ever. This album is what made ELO coined as “The Future Beatles”.
Definitely a night time gift wrapping album. I’ll revisit this so I think it’s good enough for a 5.
I could only listen to the deluxe album and man did it just draggggg. A good amount of their classics came from this album but outside of that it was just basic 60s rock.
The godfather of soul. Lively performance, truly shows how much HE was the music. Only problem is it’s only 30 minutes.
If I hadn’t heard loud prog rock before this album, I’d say it’s the most fun I had listening to music. The sound is explosive and the vocals are just mmmm, I see where Josh Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet got his vocal influence from.
I’m not really sure I understood the assignment, here. It’s alright, not too exciting. I’ll probably come back to it to explore the songs again but it’s pretty average.
Not a U2 fan by any means but this album is fantastic. The sound is just so big and “new” even thought it’s almost 40 years old. Part of a permanent collection.
I love Christmas. I love this album. I love the sound.
Garbage, not really fun at all and it’s fucking obnoxious. I’d rather listen to turtles fornicate for a month.
The definition of psychedelia. This album is also highly sought after in record format because of its popularity and importance.
The whole album hits, might not be as hard as the leadoff Roadhouse Blues, but the short track list is very easy to listen to.
Has highway Star and smoke on the water.
Vocally, unimpressive. Musically, very smooth and fun to listen to. The vocals were just… they just sounded like they tried to sound bad.
Weird 80s experimental/noise album. Was pretty funky and groovy at times, I’ll probably revisit as a joke to my friends lol
Loud. Kind of messy, but there were some good songs on here. I’ll have to revisit to see which ones I liked the most but I was satisfied.
I live and breathe for this buttery goodness. The calming vocals. The wonderful guitar. YUMMMYYYU
Another album I couldn’t finish. What a weird fucking album. Not even good sound, it’s just loud “edgy” “punk”.
I liked a couple songs but I don’t remember the names. I could listen to those ones again but not the whole album. It all sounded the same after a bit.
“Mysterious Ways” is so good just because that bass line is so fucking mint. Outside of that, it’s a pretty uninspiring album.
That flow so ‘credible! Idk what it is about Wu-Tang but holy shit Method Man just defines it.
What an overrated piece of garbage album. I enjoyed “The Scientist”, “Clocks” is such a mindless song that I just don’t jive with. I deleted this album promptly lol
I enjoy this type of music. It’s a shame it all kind of got forgotten about. Very underrated in terms of today’s music, a must for psych fans.
Call me the tumbling diiiiice. Stupid British take on dither drawl rock other than that. Mick Jaggers dumb “honky Tonk” vocals really get to me here. Sticky fingers was the only album I could really handle it and that’s because it wasn’t every. Fucking. Song. Rocks Off, Tumbling Dice, Happy. These are the songs I really care about. Idk what it is but it just brings me back to my grandmothers house in Massachusetts, I don’t think she listened to a lot of Stones because she’s a Beatles fan but this music reminds me of the times. Nostalgia points and a few bangers, album cover is iconic too.
I must be a fat fucking chud because this music fucking blew. I wish I liked it, wanted to, in fact. But the fucking obnoxious ass sad boy vocals really just irked me and did not sound good. Like, what the fuck?
This album is a literal storybook, man. Shows the life Kendrick led in his youth, with gangs and violence. Top song is “M.a.a.d City”, vibe is poetic justice. 10/10.
It was alright. I lost interest in the last song, but aside from that I enjoyed the first track and the rest kind of just blended into the album.
Eh. Couple good songs that prevented me from giving up but not that great.
All the songs aside from the last one make this album. Endless, Nameless kind of creates a nice segue to In Utero. This albums full of real commercial shit, but it’s good commercial shit, this is what made Nirvana good. They knew how to make music for commercial success without pissing off the pissed off.
For not understanding a thing that was sai, it was really funky! I enjoyed this.
I enjoyed the concept of this album. How Many Mics, ready or Not, the Beast (that skit was something else lmao), Killing Me Softly With His song, and The Mask were all highlights of this album. I find the majority of these albums in this list suck if it’s not a certified classic rock album everyone has heard or a 90s Jess-infused r&b/rap album. I enjoyed this one.
Eh. Reggae is cool but I couldn’t really handle this much activism in a single album.
Not my cup of tea but I respect it for what it is. Neat that this has some of the exorcist theme in it. I’ll rate it high because it was definitely creative and new for the time but I won’t listen again.
I can’t believe I missed out on this album for this long. Everything about it is perfect, from the lyrics to the little jam sessions. It’s so perfectly infused between rock and jazz and contemporary rock. 10/10.
This is a perfect album. Every song blends and meshes so well. Halo and Blue Dress are the only songs I didn’t favorite but they are good songs. I truly believe I have a better understanding for music and how far we’ve come since hearing this album. The best song in this is Personal Jesus. They really nailed the electronic sound. Holy shit.
Definitely a Stevie Wonder classic. I’m not sure who the producer was for this album, but my god did they nail it. The backing vocals through the album were so lit.
Each track just plays well. Black Dog really gives you a good idea of the type of album this is. STAIRWAY is the best song no doubt, it closes out the first half perfectly. Levee a California are some of the best songs Zep put out, Levee being I believe Bonzo’s best piece, with California being Jones best finger work. Plant really peaks on this album. I used to listen to this when I got my first record player back in sophomore year of high school, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me.
She’s definitely unusual. Girls just wanna have fun, time after time, and all through the night, those are the only songs I care about. However, it’s a fun album that I did not spend time wishing to end.
I gave up on this, wasn’t interested in this lousy shit
This was pretty groovy. Really dug the hits like the title track and mend a broken heart. I’m hanging onto this one.
Very good guitar, groovy sound. Not Michelle to say.
Pretty fun listen. I find myself liking this kind of rock more each time I hear it.
Front to back, extremely dark lyrics. From Synchronicity II to Wrapped around Your Finger, Murder by Number, absolutely bangers. It felt kind of twisted to like these songs as they portray evil topics. Synchronicity II appears to be about mundane living and questioning the purpose of living at all, Every Breath is wide known to be about a stalking situation, and wrapped around your finger seems to be about adultery and infidelity. I fuck with this album 100%
Where is my mind and the first two tracks are pretty solid. I might spin this one again.
Pretty run of the mill country. Kind of boring sound, it’s not bad by any mean but not my cup of Joe. Good writing, just not exciting and I’m not always in the mood.
I enjoyed this more than I expected I would. No song is bad. The worst song on this album is either the closer or Girlfriend, and those are not even bad. They are good at the minimum. I favorited 60% of the album but I favorite songs that I go “oh hell yeah” to. The other songs are groovy and I could get down to them, just not like the rest. The best song on this album is Rock With You by miles. That synthesizer is just so nostalgic for me. Definitely keeping this in my collection.
It took me a good amount of tries to get into Radiohead because they just didn’t fit my musical standard (lyrics and melody combined) but after giving Kid A its 10th listen, I was pretty blown away at how innovative the group was. They redefined how electronic music could be used in a more common rock/pop song. People give Motion Picture Soundtrack a lot of credit S being the best song on here, but it’s between Kid A and Idiotwque for me. Very good album.
I used to love Aerosmith, then I listened to other music and realized Aerosmith isn’t that good. Steven Tyler’s voice is like really obnoxious on this album, especially the opening track. Like he’s not really screaming, just straining his vocal cords. I’m not that into it. Sorry.
Another country album, another dull car ride. I’m starting to think my musical taste dis not include country. I respect why Merle means to the genre and the artists who idolized him. Pretty neat that he started his career after seeing Johnny Cash perform at a prison. Some songs were pretty nice but nothing I’d go out of my way for.
I enjoyed this album. The singers voice did get obnoxious towards The End.
Meh. Every song sounding like a garage band track got old. I like the first few then things got repetitive. “1, 2, 3” got really old.
