Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Dec 18 2025

So this is the first album I've been given in what I hope is a long and interesting journey, and what a way to start! Zeppelin are a band whose big hits are the only songs I'm familiar with; this is the first full album of theirs I've listened to the whole way. Highlights for me are the fantastic, almost-sweet Thank You, and of course Whole Lotta Love, bringing the Top Of the Pops nostalgia hard. Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid and Ramble On are also great.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Dec 22 2025

I started this damn thing hoping to find new favourite artists and albums, and behold my second pick has delivered just that. Not a dud track. The downers are gloriously miserable (Oh Lonesome Me, Birds), and therefore are my favourites

Bossanova by Pixies
Dec 23 2025

It's...fine. Nowhere near as good as their first two, but then again Surfer Rosa and Doolittle are bonafide classics. Velouria and All Over the World are my favourites.

Dec 24 2025

Ah yes, the famous record, often regarded by various outlets as one of the greatest- if not the greatest album of all time. This I never understood, it's got variety sure. Has one of the great album closers. One of the earliest concept albums too, but for me it's too uneven to be anywhere near a "perfect" album.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Dec 29 2025

It's fun, but not one I'd feel compelled to revisit often. Its influence is undeniable. This doesn't change the fact you're basically listening to the same song 12 times.

Horses by Patti Smith

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jan 01 2026

Ridiculously front-loaded, the first 5 tracks are genuinely great. Tracks 2-5 were inescapable on the radio at the time, listening to this is like a time warp back to the mid 2000s. The second half is pretty forgettable, no real standouts there for me.

Not a huge rap fan outside of a few 90s albums, however this was a pleasant listen.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone

Groovy, baby.

The Cars by The Cars
Feb 24 2026

It's damn near perfect. Half of the songs here have lived rent free in my head since I was like 10. My first ever cassette I owned back in the mid 90s was The Cars greatest hits, so basically half this album. Even the first track's name perfectly sums up what's about to happen. Let the good times roll! 10/10

m b v by My Bloody Valentine
Feb 25 2026

What a horrible night to have ears. Look, I'm a fan of Ride, Sonic Youth, I don't mind some some fuzz, some "sonic landscapes", some whooshing, but this is pretty fucking bad. At least Loveless has some catchy tunes amidst the murk. Nothing redeeming here though.
