1001 Albums Summary

Chill jazz to vibe and bop to. A little softer than my preference but I dig it.

The influence this had is clear, as it weaves together various genres and styles of music. So much so that listening to it for the first time, 15 years later, what surely sounded fresh at the time doesn't hit the same way now.

I had always meant to give some time to The Band and this album made me realize why. The mix of rock, country and folk is a mix I always appreciate. And knowing they were towards the front of that gives me an even greater appreciation.

This is great from start to finish. Vampire Blues especially caught hold of me.

Started out strong and I enjoyed it, but by the end it lost some of the initial charm. Happy to listen to it when it comes on but I’m not going to actively search it out or put it on.

Hard to not appreciate this when it came out during my time in high school. And it still holds up.

Hard to not love CCR, though this isn't my favorite of their albums.

This album made me a fan of Prince. The range and control of different genres, instruments and tools is inspiring

A classic for a reason. Though the amount of songs that have been used for advertisements at this point, as made it harder to appreciate each song, as well as the overall album.

Odd and eclectic, which I love. At its core, the jazz bits are solid but ground it in a specific way that gives it a weird tension between being fully experimental and a solid jazz album.

Bowie is hit and miss for me, but this was all hits

I appreciate the blend of genres and it worked better for me in some places than others. I can see some of the roots of nu-metal here, which isn't my favorite genre, which I don't think did it any favors.

Living For The City and He's Misstra Know-It-All are the highlights holding this up.
