No one sounds like he did. So good. Great album all the way through
What a great performer. What a legend.
I understand why this album is on this list. I was not excited to listen to it, but couldn’t turn it off. I was, however, happy when it was over. I kept trying to find a phrase to describe it besides “unnecessarily dramatic”, but that just stuck in my head.
Have I been living under a rock? How have I never heard of these people. I saved half the album on the first listen. 2/3 of it by the second listen. Loved it.
I listened to this album for the first time while going on a hike. It was a perfect background. It would work well for cross country trips, and sunsets. Beautiful acoustic music. Exactly why I like this process. I don't know if I would have heard this great album another way.
I’m sorry, Kate Bush, I tried to listen to this album in the 80s, then when Stranger Things came out, and just now. I think you’re incredibly talented, but I just don’t get it. It sounds like I’m listening to the soundtrack to a Disney movie.
I understand now why people love him. He is a talented singer/songwriter. I respect him and his music. I just don't want to be involved in any way.
I made the mistake of starting this album on a drive on the LA freeway. I found myself completely deregulated, speeding, ready to yell at bad drivers. I had to turn it off and drive in silence for a while. I don’t get the appeal or significance of this album.
I am so grateful that David Bowie made music. This album had a few tracks that I thought were well ahead of their time. 'Sound & Vision' and 'Be My Wife' are obvious favorites, but I saved a few others. 'Breaking Glass' was a surprise save as well. This may not be my favorite album of his, but I will listen to any Bowie that comes on this list.
This was such a surprise. My very low expectations were met by the second track. I will listen to this again
It’s so great to hear more songs than ‘Blueberry Hill’. I loved his sound.
I love this album. I already had half of the songs saved. It’s immediately going onto my “can listen to this whole album straight through“ list. It still holds up so many years later.
I’ve never heard of her before, but enjoyed the album. Maybe not enough to seek it out again. But, enough that I’m glad to have the experience.
I love Annie Lennox's voice. This album is a sweet memory from the early days of MTV. Sweet Dreams has a haunting quality I've always loved.
I couldn’t get through it. She’s talented. No doubt about it. I see why people love her.
This album is fantastic! I’m not sure, but I think I love it even more because I can’t understand a word saying. In my mind, it sounds so intelligent. Who knows though, he could be an absolute moron.
Nope, nope nope. I’ve tried to listen to this album a few years ago when it came on one of my “best albums of all time“ list. It hasn’t changed. I haven’t changed. I understand why people like it, just not me.
A few of these songs have been in such heavy rotation for the past decade that I never gave the rest of the album a chance. Solid album all the way through. I’m glad to spend some time with it.
Jesus Lou, do you need a hug? Or a therapist? Crying babies, abuse, neglect, suicide? And all of this is before the last track which is titled “sad song”. This whole album is an “sad song“. All those years I’ve wasted in therapy, I should have just become a musician. I do hear the David Bowie influence. I do see how music can be very therapeutic. This album should come with a warning label, or a referral for a therapy talk helpline.
I was so excited to hear this album I've heard a few songs over the years. By half way through the album, I had heard enough. They all sounded so similar. If you like their one sound, this is a great album.
I'm so glad I read the Wikipedia article first. I'm so glad he had a place to process his trauma. I'm just bummed to be involved in any way.
I don't think I'm vibrating on the same plane as Tom Waits. At first I just hated it. Then, I heard the bluesy, 'Gin Soaked Boy' and the jazzy/ambient 'Rainbird' and knew that I just didn't hear the album the way he intended. I wish I understood.
Why are there so many folk singer songwriters from the early 70’s on this list? Why? For the love of God make it stop. I did save 1 song so 2 stars become 3
This is what I needed. I love this album. After a run of 70s folk singers, this album is a welcome relief. Great energy, infectious grooves, so full of memories.
I appreciate hearing the roots of heavy metal. That being said, I don’t want to hear about his album ever again.
I love this album. It was the first CD I ever bought. I still have it. Great album all the way through.
I loved this album when I was young. I loved the sound they created in the early years. I don't know where these guys went to. The U2 of now are a way different band.
I get why so many people I know love this band. I just don't
I listened to the whole album, which I never thought I would get that far. I'm not sure why this album made the list. IMHO, it was mid at best.
This album is why I keep doing this day after day. Have never spent much time with them, I really appreciated it. I will definitely be doing a deeper dive into their albums. Good stuff.
This was a good listen, in a musical history sort of way. It was the equivalent of watching silent movies in film class. I appreciate the context, but won’t spend any time listening again
Loved this album. Listened to it twice. Definitely love younger Willie.
This dude's voice bugs me
I loved this album. Solid all the way through. Great listen. I'm glad to hear some of the songs that didn't get overplayed
Nope. I was right to hate this the first time I heard it how many years ago.
Is this the Erasure of this generation? I didn't hate it. I loved the energy. I'm OK not to hear it again
I loved this album. I'm bummed I missed it the first time. Will definitely listen again
The album was terrible, but the reviews were hilarious
I've never really listened to Rush before. I had friends in High School obsessed with them but never understood why until now.
I love this album. I have so much respect for this band. It’s interesting to hear their style before they were really influenced by Fela Kuti.
I think this album is worth the hype. They are all super talented musicians. It was great to hear more of the 'deep cuts' that don't get that much play.
Eh? Exactly what I thought of this album the first time I heard them.
too much 60s psychedelia.
Um...stop with the 60's psychedelia already. Is this a conspiracy? Do you all have a contract to play a certain number of these albums?
What a great album. I listened to it several times at work and had several people comment and groove to it. Fela Kuti is amazing
I love Radiohead. I'll listen to anything they'll produce. What a great album.
I love Frank Sinatra, I love Jobim, I love Bossa Nova, so why don't I love this album? I think Frank falls a little flat. I think this genre is out of his element a bit, and it shows. If this album is an introduction to some truly great Bossa Nova classics, then it's worth it.
I understand why people like it. Good energy, fun music. Not my style, but I appreciate it.
I can see why this album is so popular. The harmonies are tight and it’s musically interesting. Neil Young ruins it for me. What a tool.
What a great album. Regardless of what I think of him personally, he was a great musician. Brilliant
I have tried multiple times to like The Jam. I was excited to try again with this album. I have people I respect love this band. I must have something wrong with me, I just don't get it.
I have so much respect for Herbie Hancock. This album is why I love daily album exploration. The last track 'Vein Melter' was just fantastic.
Neil Young grates on my nerves
this album is why I love this process. I missed this album when it first came out. I loved it. Courtney Love has such raw energy.
This was a hard album for me. Is this what my music sounds like to them? Great harmonies, easy to digest lyrics and melodies, but dated. Not in a good way. I'm old.
This is why I love this daily exercise. I would have missed this album. I listened to it 2-3 times yesterday. What a great album
This is a great album, objectively. I'm not drawn to his music or style, but have tremendous respect for him.
I gave up on this band years ago and I shouldn’t have. LA radio only played a few songs and I burned out on them before I could hear more of their depth.
I just found out how much I love the Stooges a few years ago. I'm not sure how I missed them in my younger years. This album has so much energy. I think 'Fun House' was a stronger album.
I enjoyed listening to this. I love being exposed to new types of music. I didn't save any tracks, and wont listen to him again, but I appreciate it.
What a classic. I have more and more respect for David Bowie every time I listen to this album.
Welcome back to the 80’s. I forgot all about this band. Thanks for the flashback
What a classic album. 'The Message' is so iconic and influential.
I love this album and am so happy it made the list. This album and the 'Faith' album were on repeat for years.
'TV the Drug of a Nation' is classic, well thought out IMO. The rest of the album gets a bit dark and depressing.
I have a lot respect for Brian Eno and David Byrne, just not this album. I can see how this would be influential to bands like Radiohead and others who expanded on this sound. I was excited to hear it, and a bit disappointed.
Great grooves. Good to hear alternate tracks
