first half is great because of the nostalgia. second to last song started strong, has some Portishead vibes in the instrumental that I enjoyed. but the vocals destroyed that vibe. last song is horrific im sorry

can i get a glass of water?

this actually physically hurt to listen to, in particular the screeching guitar. i used to looove the velvet underground but this has me really questioning my taste. almost gave it a 2 for the moments of solace in Here She Comes Now and parts of Sister Ray.

i can’t get past the singers voice. otherwise just feels so lacking depth, anything interesting really.

her voice is tantalizing, and the sound overall is so crisp and clean. love

easy listening but very blah, nothing really stood out

i can’t explain why i fuck with this but somehow, i do. was previously very familiar with Road Runner, Pablo Picasso, and Hospital but nothing else. maybe it’s the crisp sound quality w lazy vocals (not derogatory)? expected this to be an early 2000s album tbh but maybe that’s aging me. he just gets it. i do go to bakeries all day long. okay after Modern World i’m getting real sick of the lyrics men write about women. not on this particular album, compared to other albums on this list, just got reminded of it. alright now that i’m through Dance With Me, this is too long. but the alternative ones slap! maybe 3.5. can’t decide how much i enjoy.

great variety of sound and pace in here. certainly not for all but certainly for me. will be revisiting, can’t believe i hadn’t heard of them before. favorites are probably laughingstock, jenny, last harbor

oh this isn’t presley? first few instrumental notes were good then his voice made me immediately angry about being subjugated to 56 min of it. i’ve gotten to 20% amnesia and holy shit this is terrible!! why is it in this list!!

i love lentils, beans, seaweed and rice. not for me at all. i’m not sure it’s for anyone, so many other albums could’ve taken its place on the list.

kinda disappointed, he didn’t come close to capturing the agony of allergies. rash is nothing, try anaphylaxis. similarly, cars are cars could’ve been a deep critique of our car dependent hell hole. maybe i should get into songwriting, im feeling inspired. otherwise really enjoyed a couple of songs, while some drifted by without my noticing. standouts include Song About the Moon, Train in the Distance

i really feel like he didn’t need to abandon his son for these albums. but i suppose we wouldn’t have had jeff if we knew him otherwise. none of my favorites from tim are on this, and it’s all very Okay. cool to hear some potential influence on jeff. can understand people not enjoying this, but it works well enough for me. and there ya have it, my entire review ended up being about jeff buckley and not his fathers album. whoops

at no point could i have predicted what was coming next. some really strong instrumentals, and i loved the female vocalist. ofc, as many have alluded, some songs are a bit challenging

pretty great. i’ll never be able to give so much harmonica a five tho. it’s not easy listening and well worth the effort, typical bob. still prefer joan baez’s versions of most of his songs, but giving credit where it’s due.

some people will never understand the peace from this kind of music or noise, which just emulates the inner anxiety perfectly. thanks to some of the reviews that provide historical content for the album, and perhaps why the feelings are relevant to this day.

I might have to implement The Rule for this one. so sick of Elvis Costello. nostalgia of Allison brought this to a 2. Waiting for the End of the World? I am begging for the end of this record. and yet I’ll only be halfway through the SIX (?!) Elvis Costello albums on this list.

i’m shocked at the year this came out, really set the 70s up for success.

Some of the most interesting and undoubtably talented vocals I’ve come across on this list so far. Extra special shoutout to the “how can I” build up on Ain’t No Way. I love this.

I hate this. I cannot focus on anything else as it plays, so good job there guys. The mixing/levels are just horrible, sounds like seven unrelated tracks playing at the same time. Lacks musicality.

yeah that was fantastic. i usually can’t stand overly religious themes, but the message here was a great reflection on how we’re treating the world, and some must cling to gods i guess

Where Is The Line had been a great test of my openness and i believe i’ve passed. somewhere between 2 and 3 for me, i appreciate the acapella and creativity but after a bit it’s repetitive and falls flat.
