Paul Simon by Paul Simon
May 18 2026

I could swear I'd listened to this before, but the only songs I recognized were Mother and Child Reunion and Me and Julio. A good album, but far from Paul Simon's best solo work. 3/5

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
May 19 2026

I really just do not see the appeal of this band. Some serviceable if down-the-middle rock songs, but I really don't hear anything groundbreaking here. Also Liam Gallagher has a whiny voice. 2/5

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
May 20 2026

Not super familiar with her catalog beyond the big hits, but this is a fun listen. I can definitely see why this was impactful at the time. 4/5

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
May 21 2026

Not Jimi's best album, but still outstanding all around. 4/5.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
May 22 2026

I absolutely adore Steely Dan, and this is a top three album for me. Not a bad track on the whole thing. 5/5.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
May 23 2026

Familiar with the man, but not so much the music. The juxtaposition of this compared to contemporary recordings like Kind of Blue or Mingus Ah Um is really interesting, incredibly different but with streams of common ground. Overall very enjoyable. 4/5

Fred Neil by Fred Neil
May 24 2026

Fine I guess? Everybody's Talkin' is of course an all time classic, and a few other songs were decent, but I didn't really hear anything remarkable imo. 2/5.

Stankonia by OutKast
May 25 2026

I think I've listened to this before? Very funky, fun album. 4/5.

Smash by The Offspring
May 26 2026

Overall really good, I was only familiar with the radio tracks previously. The whole thing sounded like high school. Didn't like the interludes, I don't know why those were so prevalent for a while there. 4/5.

May 27 2026

I'm honestly not sure what I was expecting, but it definitely was not this. I guess Dear Mr. Fantasy is the only Traffic song I was really familiar with. This is great though, very much digging it. 4/5

Coat Of Many Colors by Dolly Parton
May 28 2026

some very nice songs on this, most of which I've not heard before. 3/5.

Arular by M.I.A.
May 29 2026

not at all what I was expecting, and honestly this was quite good. 4/5.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
May 30 2026

one of my favorite albums of all time. does this thing go higher than 5?

American Pie by Don McLean
May 31 2026

the only songs I was familiar with were the title track and Vincent, and now that I've listened to the whole album I can see why. not bad necessarily, just blah. 2/5

Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme by Simon & Garfunkel
Jun 01 2026

I haven't listened to this in well over 20 years, but I still knew the words to every song. Simon and Garfunkel were huge parts of growing up for me. 5/5

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Jun 02 2026

I've never listened to really early Black Sabbath before, this is great. 4/5

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 03 2026

bit of a slow burn, but I was really enjoying it a lot by the end. 4/5

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Jun 05 2026

whole lot of nostalgia tied up in this album. 4/5

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Jun 06 2026

every song on this album is an absolute banger, too bad Billy Joel is a colossal dick. 4/5

Peter Gabriel 3 by Peter Gabriel
Jun 07 2026

not my favorite Peter Gabriel album, but some very good songs. 3/5.

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jun 09 2026

why was she taken from us so soon 5/5.

Miriam Makeba by Miriam Makeba
Jun 10 2026

this was a lot of fun! reminds me a lot of ladysmith black mambazo, which I guess is not surprising. 4/5.

Arrival by ABBA
Jun 11 2026

the hits hold up, but the deeper cuts are deep cuts for a reason. 3/5.

Dance Mania by Tito Puente
Jun 12 2026

I didn't understand a lot of the words, but it sure was fun to listen to 4/5.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Jun 13 2026

I would have liked to have the organ more front-and-center throughout, but a very enjoyable listen regardless. 3/5.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jun 14 2026

the start of the rolling Stones' golden era for me. a great album, and it only goes up from here. 4/5

Sincere by Mj Cole
Jun 15 2026

I do not see the appeal here at all.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Jun 16 2026

alright I guess? honestly not really feeling it. 2/5.

Wild Gift by X
Jun 17 2026

went very hard, great taste of early 80s punk. 4/5

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jun 18 2026

I haven't listened to this in ages, and it has held up very well. 5/5.

Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Jun 19 2026

I was not expecting them to sound like this for some reason, I might have been confusing them with the Cardigans or something? Not my genre really, but a good listen. 3/5.

Pornography by The Cure
Jun 22 2026

outside of a handful of songs I really don't much care for the cure, and this album did very little to change that opinion. 2/5.

3 + 3 by The Isley Brothers
Jun 23 2026

very funky, it grew on me a lot as I listened. 4/5.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Jun 24 2026

very listenable, basically every song a huge hit. 5/5.

Document by R.E.M.
Jun 25 2026

the hits are great, the rest I could honestly take or leave. overall 3/5.

Fun House by The Stooges
Jun 26 2026

hard to believe this is from 1970. It reminds me an awful lot of MC5, and come to find out they and the Stooges were really tight in the Detroit music scene of the time.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jun 27 2026

some fun songs. very fallout-coded. 3/5.

m b v by My Bloody Valentine
Jun 28 2026

if you want to know why the youts of today aren't having sex as much as past generations, just listen to this album. 1/5

So by Peter Gabriel
Jun 30 2026

a superb album overall with only a handful of songs that are merely good rather than great. 4/5.

Make Yourself by Incubus
Jul 03 2026

utterly pedestrian. I find nothing noteworthy about this album whatsoever. they are trying very hard to be Tool. Reader, they are not Tool. 1/5.

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Jul 06 2026

I guess I don't really understand industrial music either. 1/5

Dust by Screaming Trees
Jul 08 2026

I don't know why these guys weren't more popular. 4/5.

Timeless by Goldie
Jul 09 2026

why does every electronica album have to be like 2 hours long?

Jul 10 2026

I like 90s rap and hip hop generally, but outside of a couple tracks this just doesn't do it for me. 3/5.

Guero by Beck
Jul 11 2026

I don't really get Beck, but it was fine I suppose. 3/5.

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Jul 13 2026

absolute tripe. 1/5.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Jul 14 2026

perfect album, not a single note out of place. 5/5

Jul 15 2026

album goes hard as fuck. hard to believe this is over 30 years old, it still sounds super fresh 4/5

Arise by Sepultura
Jul 16 2026

my own tastes lean more towards iron maiden, but still a fun album. 4/5.

Clube Da Esquina by Milton Nascimento
Jul 17 2026

what a wild contrast from yesterday's selection from Brazil (Sepultura). I was not previously familiar with Nascimento or Borges, but I thoroughly enjoyed this album. 5/5.

Live At Leeds by The Who
Jul 18 2026

I've never been super into The Who, but I enjoyed this a lot. 4/5.

Autobahn by Kraftwerk
Jul 19 2026

I love these crazy German spacemen. 5/5.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Jul 20 2026

good on them for getting creative control over their own band, but I think there's a reason why none of the songs that typically come to mind when you think about The Monkees are on this album. 3/5.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Jul 21 2026

holy shit. 5/5.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Jul 22 2026

it feels like steely Dan, but it's very much not steely Dan. fine to listen to, but Walter really brought a lot to the mix that's missing here.

Rocks by Aerosmith
Jul 23 2026

after listening to their more recent when it's easy to forget that they used to be pretty good. 4/5.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Jul 24 2026

I haven't listened to this one in ages, and I can still sing along with just about every track. huge part of my early life in these songs. 5/5.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Jul 25 2026

this must have been absolutely mind-blowing in 1967. it's difficult to think of a recording more groundbreaking or influential. 5/5.

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
Jul 26 2026

after suffering through m b v, I was fully expecting to hate this album. much to my surprise, I didn't. some of it is even kind of good! I'll probably never listen to it again, but I can at least see the appeal here. 3/5.

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Jul 27 2026

I think I might be into bossa nova now. 4/5.

Parallel Lines by Blondie
Jul 28 2026

I really wanted to like this album, but outside of a few of the singles it just really didn't do much for me. 3/5.

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jul 29 2026

not my favorite Elvis Costello album, but still quite good. 4/5.

Jul 30 2026

this really did nothing for me at all. the back half was a bit better, but it never rose above anodyne and bland. 2/5.

Larks' Tongues In Aspic by King Crimson
Jul 31 2026

fine, but probably would have been more enjoyable if I were ripping stoned. 3/5.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Aug 01 2026

the album that made jazz music accessible to white people, and that also happens to be a absolute barnburner. 5/5.

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Aug 02 2026

the jazz police are coming to arrest leonard cohen. 1/5.

Eternally Yours by The Saints
Aug 03 2026

nothing groundbreaking, but still an enjoyable down-the-middle rock album. 3/5.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Aug 04 2026

I've heard of him for years, but I'd never listened before. this was a really good album, even sixty years on it seems really fresh. 4/5.

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Aug 05 2026

fine I guess, but it's not a great look when the most memorable song on the album is a cover that's not as good as the original. 3/5.

Maxinquaye by Tricky
Aug 06 2026

I didn't really get it. 2/5.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Aug 07 2026

the first time I listened to this I was about 10 years old, and it absolutely blew my mind. that was nearly 40 years ago, and very little has changed. absolutely perfect album. 5/5.

Doolittle by Pixies
Aug 08 2026

groundbreaking, incredibly influential album. more or less made the foundation for the entire grunge genre. 4/5.

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
Aug 09 2026

what the heck did I just listen to? and I mean that in a good way. 4/5.

Aug 10 2026

it sucks that institutionalized racism robbed Mingus likely becoming the preeminent cellist of his generation, but at least we got stuff like this in the bargain. 5/5.

With The Beatles by Beatles
Aug 11 2026

guitar groups are a fad, they'll never catch on. 4/5.

Phrenology by The Roots
Aug 12 2026

really enjoyed this a lot. how the hell did that dweeb Jimmy Fallon get them for his house band?? 4/5.

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Aug 13 2026

the first track is positively transcendent. I don't think the rest of the album quite lives up to that standard, but there's certainly nothing here I think is bad. very hard to believe this was 1971, really feels quite a bit ahead of its time. 4/5.

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Aug 14 2026

perfectly listenable I guess, but why would I pick this when My Aim Is True is sitting right there

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Aug 15 2026

more fela please. 5/5.
