Ok for the background. Nothing more. A bit too melancholy for me
Great Listen. Never heard of Fiona Apple before but will seek out more of her music. What a voice
Excellent.
Classics that I have heard before just get better whilst the ones 'new' to me where all killers.
The opening track "funeral for a friend/love lies bleeding" started this masterpiece off and it never took its foot off the pedal. Brilliant
It was OK at best. Nothing really stand out
It was OK. Nothing stood out and blew me away
A real good listen.
I thought 'Rose for emily' screamed 60s. Fantastic
Also, "This will be our year" sounded familiar as soon as it kicked in. I'd heard the cover by Beautiful South but not this original.
A really good album and I'm sure it will get another listen.
good album. Some very familiar sounds heard on other great albums.
Really enjoyed the album. Some good sounds
One of the finest albums in the history of time. There is not one weak track on it. Thriller by name, Thriller by nature
Wow. What an introduction to someone I have never heard before. Every song was really good
Sara, Every time I hear this, it's like the first time. Blows me away.
What an album.
So many great songs and each one paints a picture. Close your eyes and listen to the song and you could be there.
Absolutely brilliant
Hit and miss. One good song, followed by one that was just noise
What an album.
I knew of Tubular Bells but had never listened to it. Since Friday I have had it on constant play. Just absolutely brilliant!!
The best rap album of all time. Enough said
One of the best live albums ever.
Great songs and you can feel the atmosphere
Listening to this album brings back such fond memories of when I was young. When going on holiday, this was always one of my selections when choosing tapes to listen to in the car.
However, the 5 star rating is not based on nostalgia or anything similar. This is truly a great album where 5 stars is perhaps not enough.
Every track on the album is so strong - not one weak link.
Great sounds overwritten with brilliant lyrics.
This is up there as one of the greatest albums of all time
Wow what a surprise that was.
I've heard the singles from the album and we all know how good they are. But the other songs where brilliant too. And best of all, it was not just a selection of songs, but a proper album - all the songs seemed placed perfectly.
A proper 5 star album
A true 5 star album - Certainly the best thing Queen have ever made (and they have done some quality albums)
So many different sounding songs but they fit together so well to make that album sound. I mean how on earth should "lazing on a sunday afternoon" follow "Death on two legs"? It shouldn't work, but it does. Before it then kicks into the such underrated "I'm in love with my car".
So many highlights but the way The Prophets Song falls into Love of My Life is just magical.
A truly great album. If I could aware 6 stars I would
Brilliant album. For me, this was a new unique style of music. Certainly something I had not heard before. The fleet Foxes album just seemed to open up other artists and I'd actually 'forgotten' about fleet Foxes until a few months ago. To hear it again then (and yesterday here) reminded me of what a great debut album this was
What a great album. Heard it before and it never fails to blow me away. Probably the stand out track is Mandolin Wind
Brilliant. I must confess I'd never listened to a George Michael album before today but this blew my mind.
Such a great voice and some real heartfelt lyrics.
Pleasantly surprised and defo 5 stars
A five star album all the way. The first half acoustic set is the finest live release in his early repertoire. The second half then kicks it up a notch. The voice, the sound, the lyrics. All brilliant
What a great listen. Whilst I'd heard some of the singles, the others were a fantastic surprise.
Hard to believe that the music was written many years after the lyrics. It's like they were meant for each other. A great album
What an album. A classic.
The problem with listening to albums like this is you listen as your 20 year old self. Memories of spending time with your girlfriend listening to Oasis the first time round. So easy to listen and letting the memories cloud your review and judgement almost 30 years later.
However.... None of that applies. This album is as fresh and amazing today as it was when listening in the girlfriends bedroom as a young lad with a different outlook on life.
The album brings together so many influences yet is so unique in its sound. T-Rex, The Sex Pistols, Slade and of course the Beatles bubble under every song but above this is the Oasis sound. Great proper rock with Liams voice growling alongside (for the majority). Pure bliss.
It would be so easy to pick the obvious 'Wonderwall' as the standout track but for me the highlights are 'Some Might Say' and 'Champagne Supanova'
One of the finest Bob Dylan albums (and with so many greats, that is high praise indeed).
Everything about this is perfect.... The music, the lyrics, but added to that Bobs voice. For me, this his peak.
No weak songs but difficult to give a favourite due to the strength of them all. That said, "If you see her, say hello", just nods ahead of the others. A sadness in the lyrics.
I've only given 5 stars because I can't give 6
A great debut album which I bought back in the day. So many unique sounding tunes.
Full of energy and a great listen. Glad to see they have returned this year with a new album
This is in my top 5 albums of all time. I'm only giving it 5 because I can't go any higher.
A quiet and thoughtful start before it leaps into life with "wah wah". And how good is that guitar!!
Stand out tracks are the obvious "Beware the Darkness" and "All things must Pass", but a shout out to "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp" and "Hear me lord".
As with all George Harrison albums, you just feel love from every track.
Music didnt get any better than this.
Wow 1001Album Generator... On Wednesday I get 'All Things Must Pass' (George Harrison) and Thursday it is this album.... Two of the greatest albums ever and both in my top 5.
Onto 'Band On The Run'.... Fantastic.
Not a single weak song on here and I love the way it ebbs and flows.
Of course the stand outs to many will be the title track and 'Jet' but my favourite is "nineteen hundred and eighty five". A brilliant piano intro before Maccas great lyrics and vocals.
Like I say, one of my faves and it gets an airing regularly.
A proper album.
This is not just songs cobbled together. The way they all just flow into one another is just bliss.
A great listen
A good album but not my favourite Beatles one. I get that this is early in their career, but if I want Beatles 'pop', then the first two albums are better.
That said an album of great songs. How good are the Beatles when it still gets 4 and its not their best album!
