In my 40 years of living, I've yet to come across anything described as "white ___" to be remotely decent. This includes The Police and their "white reggae" sound.

This musical journey is making me realize I just do not like Nick Cave's music.
I know, I know, appropriation.

This is the closest I will get to liking a U2 album. Bono is still an ass and The Edge's guitar riffs still suck, though.
This was the first album I listened to where I really understood what Phil Spector's Wall of Sound exemplified. I really wish he had at least one extra bass player in there because it is really hard to hear. I think this is an iconic album. Aside from William Shatner's Christmas album, I think this is the best Christmas album released by humans. Obviously there are some cartoon and puppet bangers out in the world. -1 stars for Phil Spector as a person, which I feel will become a common theme as I listen to more albums.
I hate live albums. I also hate fake live albums. Songs are decent.
I don't know what it is about this album, but aside from a few songs I was feeling really underwhelmed. I think the style is just not my vibe. Clearly the musicianship was great. I think I'm one of those people most of these reviews make fun of for liking their earlier work better.
I really like the first half of this album. 8 am indifferent towards the second.
I just can't get in to electronic music. I guess we have this band to thank for non rave electronica.
In my opinion, a live album has to be really special for me to enjoy it. This album was not. Drums were neat, though.
I have a lot to say about this album, not just because I am from New Jersey. First off, I still am of the strong belief that unless under very specific circumstances, like Devo, synths and keyboards suck and songs would be better without them. Anyway, to me this album exemplifies realizing your adulthood is shaped by broken promises you were taught to believe in combined with coming to terms with navigating a home that is no longer welcoming or home. It makes me think about driving around my hometown around 2008/2009 visiting from school, still feeling the aftermath of 9/11 and the following wars, coupled with major economic uncertainty. This is one of the few records I can say I just feel. Plus it's kind of funny people completely miss the point and think these songs are upbeat and all 'merica!
This was really interesting. Idk if I'll ever listen to this again, but I am going to check out their other work.
Well I spent the day with some of these stuck in my head.
Perfection.
In my 40 years of living, I've yet to come across anything described as "white ___" to be remotely decent. This includes The Police and their "white reggae" sound.
Interesting concept.
Fuck da police.
Well this was quite the pleasant surprise.
Now I know bongs can, in fact, rock. Neat concept, like SKAndalous Allstars. There were a lot of bongos.
As part of a group, Crosby is great. Solo is not as great.
Is every Lynyrd Skynyrd song like 18 minutes long? Or do they all just feel this way? 3 stars, -1 star for racism.
Words cannot describe how much I hate this band
I really like Blues. I think I would like other albums by John Lee Hooker, but not this one.
This album was all over the place. Fretless bass is always cool, though. 2 stars but an extra for the bass and bass lines.
I think I just liked a Radiohead album. I wonder what my life would have been like if I heard this album as my intro to them instead of Hail to the Thief.
A guilty pleasure of mine. I love the drums.
I only knew a few Kiss songs so I was kind of excited to get this album. Is this what Kiss sounds like?
There is a Blur album I like. This one isn't it.
This might be one of my favorite Beatles albums. Interesting transition album in terms of sound.
I'm swooning to these bass lines.
12 hours later, Alright is still stuck in my head.
I think I would appreciate this more if I listen to it more than once. But I do not want to listen to it more than once in one day.
Definition of mids.
Definition of mids.
No matter how old he actually is, Bob Dylan somehow always manages to sound like an 80-year-old man.
It sounds like Mr. 50 Cent has some beef with a Mr. Jay-Z. I hope they worked it out.
I just need to admit to myself that I like folk.
I found this as exciting as the Book of Genesis.
The Fall, where have you been all my life?
Muse is a guilty pleasure for me. A lot of folks I know say they are a lowbrow, knock off Radiohead. I say they are what I kind of hoped Radiohead sounded like before I listened to them. And also probably objectively not great.
This was fun!
This musical journey is making me realize I just do not like Nick Cave's music.
One day at work I discovered a video of trichomoniasis under a microscope vibrating to the song Tricky on YouTube. Unfortunately the video no longer exists but in my head. It made me start to really appreciate the song. Anyway, this style hip hop is interesting because it's like straight percussion.
Willie Nelson is another artist who, no matter his actual age, always looks like a 70-year-old man.
I think I can listen to Q-Tip rap all day. (That's not true, I can't listen to that much rap. But I'm really enjoying his catalogue and blending of hip-hop, jazz, and soul.)
What can I say, I'm from NJ.
I should have been high when listening to this.
I think there is a reason you don't see an electro jug in too many bands... I thought there were some songs on the end of the album that I really liked, but then I realized Tidal started autoplaying music by the band Love, who I'm now exploring more in depth because I may enjoy their music.
I like their music, and I would like it even more if every song was about half as long.
They have a lot of really interesting things layered on top of each other that I never noticed before.
I've only heard his later stuff, so I found it interesting how his voice has changed over the years and how he built his music around the sound of his voice.
Embracing my lesbian roots today, I see.
I really like her second album.
If I dislike one band with Damon Albarn and like another band with him, does that average out to a neutral opinion of Damon Albarn? Is he the artist who appears on this list the most?
Aside from Bittersweet Symphony this album was pretty unremarkable and unmemorable. And even then, the most memorable part of that song was not written by this band.
This was fine. The Edge finally played with strength. I still dislike U2 very much
I don't think I would ever listen to this again, but it was really interesting to hear.
I wish the rest of their catalog sounded like this album.
I wish the piano was mixed louder and the vocals softer.
Fuck the Police.
Iggy mix >>>>>>>>Bowie mix
I like all the Mekons eras.
Sad Beck is not my favorite Beck.
This Freddie Mercury guy is pretty good at writing songs. A bit better than the rest of his band I would say.
This is probably my favorite Elvis Costello album. It's weird how low the guitars are mixed. Pump it up is a good song. I don't think I like Elvis Costello.
I wanted to like this much more than I did.
Easy 5.
No.
These songs are too long.
Who am I?
I know, I know, appropriation.
I definitely need to check out more by this artist.
I begrudgingly like The Smiths. This is probably my least favorite album by them, unless I'm forgetting one.
Personal enjoyment: 4/5 Relevance to this list 5/5
I'm very conflicted on how to rate this one.
I have a lot of feels about Malcolm McLaren.
Whatever happened to these guys?
When I was a freshman in college Jurassic 5 played on our campus. My brain confused them with Dinosaur Jr., and so I was very confused the first time I heard one of their songs.
Normally I'm really not a fan of artists who don't have their own original music and make a career out of covers. I think this artist should have stuck to covers.
Apparently I like Aerosmith.
I remember how hyped up this record was before it was released, and how disappointed I was listening to it for the first time. It's still just as disappointing and shows to me how important Meg White was for the White Stripes's music.
No.
I don't know how I've listened to this album so many times and never realized how interesting and different the drums are from similar music at the time.
When I saw this was another country album I groaned to myself before hitting play. Song One came on and I realized I know this from Fallout and then I proceeded to actually appreciate how good the music is on this Western record.
This has too much going on for my AuDHD brain to handle.
