Ok so maybe don't Take It THAT Easy. Favorite track: Tryin'
It's basically just middle of the road yacht rock. A couple songs at a time would be nice, a whole album is unnecessary
Wonderful. Bangers like Take it Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, etc. Great mix between chill rock and poetry
Eagles are the world’s okayest band, but definitely not bad.
Fine classic rock
Standard easy listening dad rock… I don’t have much more to say about it… enjoyable lazy Sunday songs, not world breaking, but enjoyable
Not the worst thing boomers did, but that's a high bar to get over.
Некантрийная часть альбома довольно неплохая, но вот кантри-песни негативно сказываются на моем восприятии пластинки
Solid classic rock. Not too much stands out to me, but nothing much to complain about either. Obviously "Take it Easy" is a classic song. "Earlybird" is pretty good too. The banjo on the album is a pretty cool choice.
A band better served by their greatest hits album. Take it Easy and Peaceful Easy Feeling are both great, the other songs are okay to meh.
Solid rock album
Solid stuff!
More so like some Eagles songs over a full album listen. Not bad but not something I wanna hear in full often.
Relatively enjoyable old rock.
Pretty solid for a debut album and holds up reasonably well 50 years later. 3.8
Granted the three big songs are the best on the album, but I think side two hides some hidden early gems. Side one starts off with two of them, "Take it Easy" and "Witchy Woman", Henley shines on that one. Unfortunately those are followed by "Chug All Night" probably the worst Eagles or Frey song ever. "Most of us Are Sad" is a decent song but Meisner's vocals on this album are not his best at all. The side ends pretty well with another Browne penned tune and oddly the only other Henley lead song on the album. Side two gets it rollin' with "Train Leaves Here this Morning", a song Leadon had written with Gene Clark, one of six he co-wrote while working with Dillard & Clark for their 1968 Lp. I do like this arrangement here, Leadon makes it his own. "Take the Devil" is a great song, but again Meisner's vocals bring it down a notch, but I love the instrumental interplay as the song moves along. I love "Earlybird". I really think this one lives up to what the Eagles could do over the next two album. "Peaceful Easy Feeling" is probably my favorite of early Eagles laid-back So.Cal country feel. And Meisner finally does one right with "Tryin'" which is a fun little rocker to close the album. Is this the Eagles best album, by good shot no. But I think the hits show that they were fully formed already. And despite a couple of missteps on side one, I think side two pulls this off to be a really solid album. (8.5) ★★★★
Not my favourite Eagles album, but still really strong. 4 stars
I don't think the Henley-Frey songwriting team is quite there yet on this one. The three singles are pretty good, but "Take it Easy" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" were written or co-written by Jackson Browne and Jack Tempchin, respectively. The non-hits are pretty meh across the board and it's no shock Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner weren't getting more songs on the albums. 3 stars.
There are some obvious stone cold classic singles on this like Take It Easy and Witchy Woman. There is a argument to be made that only Eagles Greatest Hits should be here but also an argument that all Eagles albums even Long Road Out Of Eden Project should be on the list as they are such a big part of music culture and should be checked out. I don’t know what could have made this individual album better apart from having more than 3 truly great songs. Joining forces with Joni Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt and calling themselves the Spread Eagles? Joining forces with David Gates and Jimmy Griffin and calling themselves the Bread Eagles? Killing people on stage viking style during their stage show live as it is performed and calling themselves the Blood Eagles? Without those changes this is getting stuck at 4.
I can sort of see why they have such mass appeal. The masses are also kinda dumb sometimes.
Good solid one
Couple of classic songs, but not enough
I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man!
bastant bon àlbum. t alguns temardos i cançons ben chil i yeah. ns no me ape parlar gaire més
Ok
Fina, prijatna rock laganica.
Solid album, very dad rock
Meh
De Black Keys van de jaren 70
Þetta átti að vera ás, Big Lebowski og allt það. En svo heyrði ég þessa mjög hressandi byrjun á Earlybird og það reyndist svo fantagott lag. Í öðru rennsli fór ég að heyra meira í banjóinu og til að gera langa sögu stutta þá endar þetta í þristi. En sleppið fyrstu lögunum, þau eru drep.
I wrinkled my nose when this came up. I don't know why I expected this list to have more variety than never ending classic rock but I did. So clear that the 1001 albums are not objective against all music in the world but from a very particular world view on what makes for good music. Thankfully, this on was non-offensive and slipped into the background for easy listening
I do like the eagles but this nearly sent me to sleep at the same time. 3.5
Say what you will about the Eagles, I can’t resist Witchy Woman. This record fits a certain vibe for me. 3.5
Fuck me possibly the shittest band ever created, just awful
There's a lot of hate for Eagles these days. After the first 2 songs I was ready to buck the trend and vehemently defend them. After the next 6 since songs I'm here to agree that they officially suck ass. "Chug All Night" pushes the limits of how bad a sign can be.
eeeendlich. ha scho letst wuche immer wieder eagles glost. boum eagles. take it easy isch sooo en guet gschriebne song. text hammer. aaah die vorzogne hits d harmonies. de break vorem outro mit de snare elai. dudes sind guet. uuuuhuuuu witchy wooman. isch das problematischh? henley singt so krass. und sie singed sooo clean zeme. chug all night isch fun aber etz nöd wow. most of us are sad, ja ja. mir sind. ich ghör erstuunlich viel motown bi ihne irgendwie. speziell bi nightingale jetzt. train leaves here this morning isch meega schön de bass macht mega spass. Uh oh, my own, personal, nostalgia-slop, I grew up listening to this, so please just ignore my review. Its so good, I love it so much. 4/5
Perfectly fine, don't know if I'll remember any song besides Tryin'
I am NOT taking it easy Mr. Eagles. That shit ain't happening in this economy
The chillest bestest album to listen to on a long ride, if only the album was long enough
RATING: 4.5/10 HIGHLIGHT: Take It Easy LOWLIGHT: Most of Us Are Sad
I enjoyed how easy this record was to listen to. Favourite Track(s): Take it Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling Least Favourite Track(s): Most of Us Are Sad
nice vibe
Пресный американский рок с элементами кантри. Для меня это лишнее доказательство что кроме хита hotel California группа совершенно бесполезная
forgettable
"Take It Easy" contains, perhaps, the most insipid lyrics ever written. The rest of the album is effortlessly inoffensive mediocrity.
I now know why I’ve only heard their greatest hits
Better than the greatest hits album. Pretty great, actually.
I've gone from an Eagles hater to an Eagles apologist. But holy shit outside of the three megahits there's not a damn song on here worth listening to a second time. But it does have the three megahits.
Meh. Not bad by any stretch. And in fact it's pleasant to listen to. Just not really my thing.
Ahhh the Eagles, dad rock perfection. It's honestly not terrible. It's not something I'm gonna toss on and groove out to, but I'm not mad I listened to it. The music is good, the lyrics and themes are there, nothing about it is particularly good or bad. It exists in a medium place. Honestly they are another greatest hits band. If you want to listen to them grab that and you'll be fine. No real reason to deep dive them. Unless you want to read about ALL their drama, then have at it. That's more interesting than their songs.
's allright, luistert lekker weg
Probably good on release, but , shitrock
An album that is probably better suited for being outdoors than stress packing to catch a train
turns out "most of us are sad" because we had to listen to the eagles.
Apart from the hits, it's misses. I don't understand how the Eagles could have so many songwriters (inside and outside the band) and not be able to fill a whole album with solid songs.
Knew so many of these from the radio but not the album. Good stuff.
This was terrible.
arsch
Listening to the eagles is like eating plain porridge. Its not awful but where’s the flavour?
The 60s/70s Laurel Canyon Scene….Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, The Byrds, Crosby Stills & Nash, Love, The Doors. And The Eagles outsold them all. People can’t be trusted.
10 songs Apart from Take It Easy, which I already knew, nothing really stood out to me.
Take It Easy with this one.
Great, but not as awesome as I was expecting tbh
High 3
Beautiful album. Eagles never disappointing. So glad to have discovered this pearl!
As a non-Eagles fan, their self-titled album is probably their best.
Meh
I went back and forth with this one. When I gave them both a genuine, critical listen, the two big tracks (which I had heard and admired so many times) did not hold the same power over me as I thought they might have. "Take it Easy" ended up a bit more ambivalent; when I heard the first couple notes, I was blown away by the depth those scarce guitar sounds opened, so much so that the rest of the song felt flat in comparison. "Witchy Woman," once one of my favorite Eagles tracks, felt a little flat this time around, the guitar didn't sell it and the bass was groovy, but too far down in the mix to save the day. Then down the track list, a few of the ballads hit me like a freight train. I had never heard "Most of Us Are Sad" or "Train Leaves Here This Morning" before, but both of them were the perfect tempo to savor and both featured excellent vocal setups. By the time I hit "Peaceful Easy Feeling," these guys captured my ear again.
can't cope with chug all night but otherwise bangs. More banjo
I'll give it a 2 because I halfway like "Take it Easy". Pretty funny to me that the only Eagles song I don't actively dislike is the first song on their first album. For me it is all downhill (STEEPLY) after that. I love the review on here that said the Eagles being an incredibly popular and successful band makes sense in a country where Subway has the most restaurants and Bud Light is the most popular beer. It truly does help make it all make a bit more sense to me. I really hope that I don't have anymore Eagles albums ahead of me, but I fear for the worst.
3.75 good but they all sound the same
Solid album. Easy listening clean classic sound. Tempted to give it a 4 for the haters. 3+
The Good: Fucking Eagles! The Bad: It ain't the album we wanted... The Ugly: album = band name... This is what it is... a shitload better than the fucking rap album I was forced to listen to yesterday... Reading opinions from other travelers on this 1001 road, it seems that there is a consensus that this album is bland... I can see that... However, there are 3 big hits, and in the end... it's the fucking Eagles! So, I am going to cheat and give them 1 star more than this album deserves... Here's hoping my last 280 albums on this list contains at least 50 5* 4*
The basis of modern American West rock. Massive talent within this band
It’s a pretty good album. I’ve always been a fan of Take It Easy. 7/10.
Fine classic soft rock
I also hate the eagles
Apart from the first song, the rest sort of washed over me. Soft rock of its time. Gets a 3rd. star for ‘Take It Easy’
I forgot about this album by the time lunchtime came around, sameness permeated throughout but I wasn't quite bored enough to turn it off for a past album I got from previously
Easy listening at its best
A couple of good tunes but certainly not the best Eagles album. Most of the songs aren’t hard to listen to
Probably my third favourite Eagles album behind Desperado and Hotel California. The music is catchy and these guys were exquisite musicians. It's funny to shit on them but I dig it.
This was fun! I love how the Eagles blend country and rock in a great way! There are some classic bangers here. This is a great album Liked Songs: "Take It Easy" , "Chug All Night" , "Most Of Us Are Sad" , "Nightingale" , "Train Leaves Here This Morning" , "Take the Devil" , "Peaceful Easy Feeling" , "Tryin' "
Great album. Several classic, no songs I would skip. Not as interesting musically as I would like, but a solid album.
Not as good as Hotel California but still really good. Definitely a lot of playlist worthy songs.
The Eagles are a really great band. It is one of those rare situations where super good individual musicians get together and really make magic. For me, I do put them in classic rock territory as I have heard each of these songs a lot of times over. But still, together in one album I never got bored and even grooved to a few of them; a true testament to their timeless qualities. So there it is, a canon band in maybe kind of folk rock, almost like ballad specialists or something. But they are one of the greatest bands in whatever brand of rock that makes them classic in the first place!
The production is solid and there's plenty to like about their sound, but the songs are pretty forgetable background sounds. The better songs on the al;bum weren't written by the band. Happy to encounter a few of the tracks when I'm in the mood for an "AM Gold" kind of soundtrack, but I won't revisit this one.
Good country rock
Meh
I think a 4 is appropriate, very solid
An album so 'nice' that, after a few plays, it's irritating me. There are no bad songs on the album, but I'm not hearing anything outstanding either. I like Take It Easy, especially the quick banjo playing, and Witchy Woman, but after that the album just slides into 'niceness' Most Of Us Are Sad - ahh, bless. Everything will be fine if you try - thank you for that profound wisdom. The two aforementioned songs are probably the reason why this drops from a low 3 to a high 2 stars. There's just too much beige here. It's nice, not necessarily good.
Puts the soul at ease.
I like the Eagles. I know it’s fun to rip them partially due to the Big Lebowski, but they’ve got a nice sound in some songs. Hotel California and Desperado are both better albums in my opinion. Mid 3
Fun, easy, in offensive, nothing crazy
Simply the worst. This record should be buried in a lead barrel for 1000 years in the New Mexico desert. You could torture my deepest darkest secret out of me if I had to listen to this garbage twice.
Take it easy - 5 Witchy woman - 4 Chug all night - 3 Most of us are sad - 3 Nightingale - 3 Train leaves here this morning - 3 Take the devil - 4 Earlybird - 3 Peaceful easy feeling - 4 Tryin' - 4
4/5
Opens up with a banger and then the rest of the album is a cohesive, nice listen. 4/5
