Tons of distortion, metal, and noise. Not my cup of tea, but I see why it may be a big deal.
I could see how this is legendary!
Some standout tracks for sure, but Version 2.0 is a more consistently solid and well-produced album.
Neil Young is a god-like talent. I did not know this album but enjoyed very much.
How timely with Ozzy's death. Never was into him or Black Sabbath so I appreciate the intro to a great album. Supernaut is a killer track.
You can’t argue this album made lots of people rich, and so epic in one way. But essential?
Guessing they put ska on the map but not great music.
Good choice - Tricky is his prime!
Their sound is like a warm hug. So good.
You either love or hate Morrissey...and I hate him. Hate is a strong word so I will just say I have never liked his whining sound.
Definitely deserves a place on this list. Grunge before grunge existed.
Another love 'em or hate 'em situation. Not my cup of tea
Strong opinion but this does not belong on this list
Sure, influential - let's go with that.
Somebody really needs to explain or justify why this album is on this list. This is why 1001 is really too many albums to consider which leaves the door open for "just okay" albums to get in.
Now we're talking. Definitely should be on this list.
Who dis? Never head of this band or album, and I would like to think I know "influential" things in music given my education and background. And after listen to the album, I still don't see it.
They have better songs. But the lead singer is cancelled now, right?
It created enough intrigue that I had to come back to it and listen to it a 2nd and 3rd time.
Thanks for turning me onto this album. I don't think I would have listened to this - Bowie's newer stuff - but it was good.
This definitely deserves to be on the list.
Agree to disagree, but this one is lame
Can I give this 6 stars?!?
What an album - Lauryn, Wyclef, and Forte were creative supergeniuses!
Very distinctive sound, gets repetitive though
Yep, definitely a good album.
Who's great, and live recordings have their charm.
Damn fine album. Kinda forgot how incredible they were.
Sure, probably worth listening to before I die.
Classic Peter Gabriel - can't argue with this.
Maybe if I was on speed, I would like this.
Issac Hayes for 18 minutes - okay.
I could have died and not listened to this album.
Not trending up lately - another blase choice
He screams a lot. But I love the Deal sisters. So, I approve.
I appreciate the revisit to this band! Solid sonic experience!
Never heard of this guy so thanks for the introduction. Not my cup of tea, but still a worthy listen.
OMG. I already loved Count Basie but never heard this album before!
Almost 2 hours I wish I could get back.
Well, you can't argue with Prince. A bit more shrieking than I want in some of my songs, though.
That twang is an acquired taste. I can only take so much.
Another that I didn't need to hear before I died.
Good if you're into that kind of thing
This is a no-brainer - wholeheartedly agree!
Don't like, but gotta respect!
I am angered by this choice.
Pretty much their greatest hits, but it's an album.
This deserves at least 7 stars!
Didn't I hear this already? Oh yeah, at Folsom Prison!
Better than I thought it would be
Great energy - very solid modern rock album.
Love Ozomatli, but hadn't heard this album before. Great fusion of sound styles.
Hadn’t listened to the whole double album before. Lots of creativity, but probably could have been trimmed to just one album
No thank you - you really have to like this prog/classic rock sound to endure some of these 8 minute songs
Probably White Stripes at their pinnacle.
Their instrumental stuff is best.
I feel like I should like this more, but I don't.
Holy shit, fabulous live recording - really captures the power of the blues channeled through B.B.
Pretty awesome and still stands up
Great energy - not my thing, but I can appreciate
Probably pretty great when it first came out. But afro-pop has come a long way and this album sound bland in comparison.
They get a lot better after this album, but the roots of their sound start to emerge in this album. Love all the samples!
Never got behind Steely Dan - not for me.
Did not need to hear this before I died.
I can't argue - this is a timeless album
No. No, this doesn't need to be on the list.
Decent album - a bit of head banging rock combined with white guy funk
I appreciate learning more about them besides "Come On Eileen!"
There are definitely 5+ star songs on this album which distort the grading scale...but, as a whole, it's lacking. His voice is both angelic and annoying at the same time. And he died way too young and this is all we really got from him, so that makes it precious as well.
Great voice - but not for me
Love his vibe but will choose Pink Moon way more than this one
Not much to say - neither amazing or bad. Good energy. Maybe great when it first came up but unremarkable now.
This is garbage but it's French so it's seems artsy.
Can I give this negative stars? Kanye is an antisemitic whack job.
Well-deserved addition to this list!
I mean you're not wrong, but I guess I have limits to how much I like Billy Joel.
Prog rock - prog-ably not for me.
Rap metal - there's a first time for everything but we have moved on. And so this feels tepid now.
I am sure someone likes this.
Sonically repetitive, but nonetheless a good groove
Pretty great - I could listen to his voice for a long while
What a weirdo - not necessarily in a bad way.
Were they all on cocaine? The energy of their performance was frenetic.
How can you vote against Mingus!
Don't have much to say - neither liked or disliked
I appreciate it...but like it?
Pretty, pretty, pretty goood!
I think some has a bias for Afro-pop-jazz-fusion.
Sure, a bit dated but great at the time
I know I am supposed to like this but I never really liked Bruce like some others do. I respect him hugely and I like some his songs.
This is why I signed up for this - great album I didn’t know about
Dark themes never sounded so pleasant!
Wish I could give this -50 stars
Refuse to listen to an anti-semitic a-hole.
Awesome for somebody...but not me!
Probably historic - but to me it sounds like a white guy appropriating black music.
Not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate it.
Sounds like a skinny white vegan guy appropriating black music but I am still a fan!
Unexpectedly surprise - this is pretty good!
Awesome - if you're in the holiday mood
Definitely worthy to be on this list
I know I am supposed to like this. Classic, right?
Had to listen to it on YouTube. It's alright.
How could say anything ill toward Mr. Ice Cube?!?
Solid. A bit whining and depressing
Puke. For such scary imagery, the band is rather tepid.
David Bowie wannabes? Not for me
Homeogenic is one of the best albums ever. This is solid.
I am bit biased towards Jimi.
A trio of geniuses so of course it's going to be good.
I think you need context to appreciate this album. It's alright on its own, but if you know how this fits in his discography, it's pretty awesome.
Did not age well - this was probably revolutionary at the time but seems weak now
Another one that I am sure people love but it's not for me
Difference between like and respect - I respect but don't like. His voicing is too, too whiny.
Gross - what a waste of my time
Well, it's a classic, especially if on 'shrooms.
Magnficient - I want more of those funky keyboards.
Knew about this band but never listened to them before - loved it!
Nah, plus the lead is a perv
Whoa - how did I not know about this guy?!?
Sounds a bit dated but I hear the genius in there
Classic Police - can't argue that their sound was hypnotic!
Good to revisit. Still don't like the vocalizations, but the guitar licks are pretty awesome.
Forgot about this gem - loved it then and love it now.
Good to hear their other stuff besides Le Freak (I can't stand that song). Long-ass grooves that you can get lost in...in a good way!
I enjoy Randy even though I can see how he is formulaic and can get under your skin.
Some killer tracks but not the whole album
Madonna is a queen of remaking herself as times change. This was a great chapter when she started to work with wildly creative producers, which took her sound in new directions.
It's not you, it's me. I have a hard time sitting through 18+ min songs. I am sure this is great to someone and when it was originally released.
I like the tribal rhythms.
My favorite Randy Newman album
HAd to listen to it on YouTube. I bet I would have loved this in 1989. A bit of a relic now but still great!
Oh yeah - he didn't always have that deep gravely voice!
Kinda rocks, kinda all sound the same.
Don't want Swifties to kick my ass.
Not much to say - okay, but not for me
I am sure this was groundbreaking at the time, just not my cup of tea.
Wow! New appreciation for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds!
I don't like Alice Cooper and this album maybe moved the needle 1% towards appreciating him now.
Forgot about her! Love this album. Why hasn't she made more?!?
Fun...if you like bongos.
Sure - they have a wildly distinction sound
Definitely deserves to be on this list
I think the Kinks have better stuff
Had to find it on YouTube to listen. It's okay, I think.
Solid rock n' roll from a simpler time.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good
Deserves way more than 5 stars...even if he is a pedo.
50 million stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you love his sound, you'll love this. Classic Curtis!
I know this is supposed to be legendary.
I am a sucker for old hip-hop.
A bit of nostalgia clouds my judgement but, yes, I think this one of the best
I like his party albums but Beck is nonetheless a genius.
Honestly didn't know his career went that far back. I think of U2 when I think of Brian Eno. Anyways, he have evolved quite a bit, hasn't he?
One of many reasons why the Stones are legends
Not for me but I'm sure it was setting new boundaries at the time
Can't say anything bad about Leonard Cohen.
Her next album is even better but this a great intro
One incredible song and the rest just okay
Not a live album kind of guy - quality is not there
3 hours of Ella - my cup runneth over
I want to like them and their sound. Just not compelling enough for me.
Not much to say - not bad, but not mind blowing either
Great - don't know much about him
I mean he ripped off everyone else - but he did it well!
Great...just not my thing
Can't fault it if disco and We are Family is your thing.
I bet this hit differently in the 80s. Mind blowing perhaps.
Maybe the last tolerable U2 album. They get really boring and start sounding the same.
Good find - never really explored this artist before
I love Fatboy Slim even if his formula is old. But it's such a fine formula!
Great sound - if a bit dated and repetitive
Pretty, pretty, pretty good
Not a game changer but respect due
Two Kate Bush albums so close to each other? Just like the last one - one great song and the rest are okay.
Not a Cheap Trick fan and so hearing them live doesn’t do anything for me.
