Some truly great numbers, trouble is it loses it's way towards meh in the second half only to be rescued by the "even though I have heard it too many times" come on Eileen, that stands out. Some great songs, just not enough.

Depeche Mode started to stretch their wings here and develop, something which culminated in their masterpiece: Violator. My criticism of the album is the production leaves the songs sounding flat and sterile and I recommend listening to them on the live album 101. On 101 the songs become more muscular and organic. WIth Never let me down again really shining.
