Classic and a great intro into Eminem.

Full on. Loved it, hated it. The shock factor it holds is one of a kind. The opening skit was ridiculous, Kim was proper unsettling, Stan is an eternal classic, the hooks on Bitch Please II and Drug Ballad are sick. But the blatant and repeated homophobia and misogyny is pretty hard to get passed, even the product-of-its-time defense doesn't cut it on this one. Even so it still hits high on Albums of All Time lists (eg. 145 on Rolling Stone's 2020 top 500 of all time list). I'll stand by my rating system though, I can't deny that this album was a (at times hellish) thought provoking rollercoaster.

Comedy based in reality, rides a fine line but never falters

Lots of swearing and violence. Some good songs, but this was a different time

Mixed, deep reactions from the group

Just for Stan this gets 5 stars

No thanks. I’ve been to the early 2000s

3.5 but bumped to 4 for this scale

Det eminem, hvad ka man gøre

A product of its time with some legit great songs but, holy fuck, some of these lyrics are even more hurtful and offensive than I remember.

Great album. Kim is still hard to listen to for me. So intense and raging.

Very good musically, somewhat ruined by absurd levels of homophobia and misogyny.

Been a long time since I've listened to this one. Still got instant chills when the bells toll at the start of 'The Way I Am'. Forgot just how violent this album is though!

Always liked this album. Own it on vinyl

Not my thing

A lot of anger here. And a lot of homophobia. Good at rhyming though.

Not everything from the early 2000s has aged well, and I would argue that this album falls into that category. Eminem's persona sounds a bit Trumpian 20 years on. So, I choose to evaluate the album based on the time in which it was made. In that view, the album is very solid, packed with hit songs 4/5

A classic from one of the top 5 emcees of all-time.

Meh. El rap no es lo mío.

-Pretty dark -dated language lmao -Rapping skills still v high

Sindssyg storytelling, rhyme-schemes, grænseoverskridende

An extremely in-depth, personal record on Marshall's thoughts about his sudden fame, the pop landscape; all told through the scope of his classic horrorcore rap style. Nuts, and at certain points still fucking terrifying. Still making waves today, too. Favorite tracks: "Kill You", "Remember Me?" "Stan"

The back half of this one is trash, full of misogyny and homophobia. I still like most of the singles and the rhymes (for how they are constructed), but this one is a tough listen anymore.

I've not listened to many Eminem projects at length. They tend to work. He has his sound, his flow, his themes. Background music, almost, though playing Eminem as background music is a questionable choice at best. Listening a bit more carefully to the whole LP was not exactly kind. The flow and insults get a bit old, though of course the rhymes are tight and Eminem acts perfectly like himself. I wonder about that last thing, though: How much is actually there in the music and how much is persona and coverage? Looking back, there is a really disproportionate amount of attention on the controversy and the context of MMLP, as opposed to the songs themselves. The production is fine, if minimal. The weird focus on ICP has maybe aged worse than anything. Granted, the back end of the album picks up significantly.

The popular singles still stand strong, the rest of the album is either unremarkable or, frankly, lyrically gross.

Nice beats. A little more intense than I am used to. Much respect. Great enunciation! Will need to listen again - there was so much going on, I didn't catch everything.

The material was very... jarring, but the rapping was fantastic.

Good album

Kim is hard to listen to but a masterpiece nonetheless.
