In Utero
NirvanaMeh. The 1 star belongs entirely to All Apologies.
Meh. The 1 star belongs entirely to All Apologies.
This album has a fantastic start and then just keeps going. Very funky and jammy with great rhythms. Didn't even notice the songs are 12 min long! Just a fun, and well-rounded album.
Should you listen to this because it's a musically interesting, an unusual mix, and kind of original in its own way? Sure. Is it good? Meh unless you're a fan of Metallica. Props to the SF Symphony, all the stars are for them.
This is really not my thing. It felt like the ramblings of a half stoned old man in some seedy bar. If that's your cup of tea you'll love it, but to me it was boring, depressing and badly sung.
If you enjoy repetitive samples, words, and scratching ad nauseam then this is for you. It's like being stuck on a washing machine with a broken record.
Nice melodies but quite repetitive.
I really liked 2 or 3 songs.
This is horrible haha
Too 80s. I liked the one song.
I would give it a 3.5
If a crappy C-movie was made music. First one I can't finish.
Once you get used to the style it's nice, specially the jazzy/folky songs.
Started well but then went down hill.
Meh.
Nothing revolutionary but I liked all songs.
Liked all songs. Easy to listen.
Standard pop, nice as background noise.
Meh. The 1 star belongs entirely to All Apologies.
Repetitive but OK.
Nice mix.
Globally OK.
Like 2 good songs.
It was OK.
I liked one song.
Meh.
Too much synth. 2 stars because of The West Wing reference.
Not really my kind of music. Super repetitive.
Repetitive. There's like two out of the 27 songs that are decent.
Cool.
OK.
Feels like being stuck inside a washing machine.
Nope. Just no.
Not bad.
Nice and relaxing.
Meh
Starts well but most of the songs end in horrible noise.
Some songs are neat.
Meh.
Nothing special.
A classic.
The one famous song but still bad.
Nice.
Not bad but not really my style.
Not my thing.
It starts bad, it grows a bit on you for a short while because soon enough you end up with a giant headache.
Nothing special, a few songs are nice.
Nice album. Good songs. I really liked it.
I'm not a fan of this genre but the album wasn't that much of a pain to listen. Not too repetitive and short.
Classic sound but overall nice.
Great album. Nice and varied tracks. Perfect to chill or to study.
Some songs are OK but overall gives me a headache with too many strident noises.
Not my favorite REM album but it has some nice classic songs. The first few songs are repetitive but it gets better.
First three songs are great, then it starts to become way too weird and experimental for my taste. Feels like being stuck in laundry machine listening to 5 types of different music. Truly WTF.
Not my usual style of music but I enjoyed the entire album very much. Weird but just enough to make it interesting.
A classic. Loved all the songs. CCR has such a distinct sound that I really like.
It was less boring than I expected. I liked many of the songs. She has a great voice and the lyrics are good.
Besides a few songs you feel like you're listening to the same thing over and over again. Lyrics are meh, besides 1 or 2 songs. Definitely not my style.
This album was really easy to listen. Nothing fancy or any particular song stands out, but as a whole it's really pleasant.
Nice album with a very distinctive sound. I enjoyed it more than I expected.
Nice album, full of energy and fun songs. Feels like something that should be enjoyed live.
Her voice is beautiful. I love the rhythm and sound of the songs that are not in English. Those in English are a bit boring and fall flat in comparison, except for the one about the little flea.
It was much better than expected. Not my usual style but the album is an easy listen.
It's not too bad but style too synthetic 80's for me. While the songs are not that bad, I really only enjoyed the first one.
It was OK but the repetitive and long songs get pretty boring quickly in my opinon. I don't mind listening to it once, but I don't think I'll come back to it.
Noise, a lot of very similar noise. I liked maybe the one song but the album is very repetitive and discordant.
Dylan is a great song writer but... not something I would hear for 1.5 hours. First side drones on with the harmonica grinding your ears. Second side is better but besides a few songs, it's pretty much the same long melody.
It's an OK album. Nothing out of the ordinary with some nice chill tunes. Sometimes a bit too electric for my taste.
Not my usual style but I enjoyed the album. The first song is a bit weird but I liked the other ones a lot. They sound fresh and unusual but in a nice way.
I really like the style and vibes from this album. Love the voice and liked all the songs.
Meh. Nothing special, some good songs.
I loved it. Good melodies and very folky with great guitar playing. This is exactly my kind of jam.
It's a pretty average 80's album with nothing particularly good. I think the famous 'infected' track it's actually the worst one.
I really liked the later part of the album. They have some nice songs but the beginning trudges you along too much to make it more than average.
Besides one or two songs, this was pretty boring. It's like hearing an hour long rant. They might have valid points but it gets lost in the mess.
It's like listening to the same song over and over again for an hour. Pretty bad in my opinion.
I really like the first few songs but not so much the last half of the album.
A little bit too experimental for my taste. Some of the songs were a nice mix of modern and traditional but they quickly get too drawn out and weird. Felt like being in a washing machine of music.
I really liked two songs. The lyrics are quite nice overall but it feels like it's the same rhythm and melody for the entire album. Shame.
It's technical but not really enjoyable. After a while it all just sounds like the same screech. Not my cup of tea.
It's an OK album with some interesting tracks but nothing too good. You can put it in the background and just forget about it.
This was better than I expected. Varied melodies and tempos plus good lyrics make it easy to listen. Some nice songs I hadn't heard before.
Had a much more rock sound than I expected. Quite few songs are nice but some are too long and get tiresome.
The lyrics are great but Dylan can't really sing. He just end ups half-screaming words and the music is pretty generic and grating (too much harmonica is a thing). The one star is entirely for Like a Rolling Stone.
This album has a very unique sound. I really loved some songs but a few are a bit too strange, it's hard to describe. Worth a listen though!
This was like teleporting back to the 90s. It's full of energy and classic indie rock. Nothing too fancy but very fun and enjoyable.
I'm not usually a fan of the genre but this was a nice surprise as I could listen to the entire album without fighting the need to skip songs. Nice as background music while working.
Nice is a nice and fun album. I enjoyed the different rhythm/melodies, and even though most of the songs are slow I found them uplifting.
This album was a nice surprise. The songs are different enough that you don't get bored but the overall theme is still there. I enjoyed it more than I expected, and most of the songs.
It has some nice songs but it drags on too much. By the second hour it was really hard to find this enjoyable. By the end, I no longer cared about the overall story, so I guess rock operas are not my thing.
I'm not a fan of rap/hip hop so this was really hard for me. I get the importance of the political message but I just couldn't get into it. Too many strident repetitive sounds/beats/yeah boy. My ears hurt :(
Not bad but not great either. Too goth and emo for me, I can only take it in small doses. If you're into that kind of depressive music then you'll enjoy it.
It's not bad nor good, just long and dull. Perfect if you have insomnia (and his voice is nice).
Very classic rock sound but doesn't really feel like Aerosmith until the last few songs. Overall enjoyable with a strong first half.
Not really my kind of music but the album was easy to listen, although nothing really stood out as great.
This is a 30-min endless sad song. His voice is really nice but all the songs are just the same monotonous tone, it feels like a huge waste of potential.
It's a bit bizarre but by the end of the album it kind of grows on you. Not my style, but a few songs weren't too bad.
Nice and chill album. If you like bossa nova you will enjoy the melodies and her soothing voice. The English songs broke the spell a bit though.
Fun and energetic album. Only a few songs stand out but overall I enjoyed it.
Not what I expected. It started off well but got a bit boring half way through.
Tom Waits' voice and style are certainly interesting, but also very grating. It quickly gets tedious, I don't know how people can listen to this for so long. I guess they must focus on the lyrics more than I can.
This a very fun and interesting album. It's like the perfect mix of kitsch, British pop, funk and 60's sci-fi. The songs are upbeat with a particular sound that I really enjoyed.
This is an weird mix of rock and ska/reggae, but once you get used to it it's actually rather pleasant. It was unexpected, fun to listen to, and I ended up liking more than I expected.
It was an OK album, nothing too exceptional. Nice listen as background music.
Nice and refreshing album. Not my usual style but I wouldn't mind listening to it while reading or working.
Very energetic and fun album. I was pleasantly surprised by it.
It wasn't too bad but I got tired by the end. While a few songs were nice, too many piercing tones made it really hard to enjoy all the way through.
I'm all for guitars and harmonies but this is just endless.
I enjoyed this album very much. It was groovy and easy to listen, with multiple great songs. Great background for a scenic drive.
It's pretty underwhelming. I'm not a fan of disco so I got bored pretty quickly, specially with all the remixes at the end.
I have no idea what this is doing here. Some beats are all right but I don't think it's particularly interesting or groundbreaking. Very low effort, just a lame excuse to use curse words.
This was a nice and fun album. Her voice has a clarity and tonality that mixed with the positive lyrics and mellow music makes this very enjoyable.
The album starts strong but looses a bit of steam about halfway through. I still enjoyed it overall, although not as much as other Santana albums.
As far as Dylan's album go, this is not the worst. The lyrics are great as usual, however it lacks everything else. The melody, voice, and harmonica are repetitive, so enjoy it in small doses unless that's your jam.
I really liked her voice, but the songs are a bit too generic and flat. I'm sure the lyrics are meaningful but I couldn't be bothered to pay them any mind because of this.
This is a bit weird. The music is too disjointed for my taste. I think I can handle one or two songs, but not for the entire album.
This was a nice and chill album, more so because Marley's voice is really melodic. I grew a bit tired of the similar rhythms by the end but still a nice listen.
This was a very nice folk album with such a clear and clean sound. I enjoyed how the guitar feels like it's just there to enhance her voice.
I enjoyed the entire album. It's light and fun, makes for an easy listen. Nostalgic sound and I'll go listen to more of their stuff.
The sound is fantastic from the get go. Loved all the songs, very folksy. In the same breath, it sounds old and contemporary, it's just an excellent album.
This was a nice surprise. Entirely instrumental album that was really chill and enjoyable. Nice Lofi music to study or read.
Too long and too boring. This album is rubbish.
Maybe because I'm used to their more upbeat songs but this album was a drag. Maybe the songs work on their own but together it was a single melody, slow and depressing.
It was OK. I liked a few songs but didn't enjoy the overall experience. Nothing special.
Starts well but then grows a bit tiresome after a few songs. It's not bad but nothing particularly great either. There are definitively better 60s albums out there.
I'm sorry I just didn't get it. It's just screaming with discordant supposedly meaningful lyrics. I think her voice sounds atrocious.
I was expecting punk screaming but this was a really fun album to listen. A good mix of punk and rock with a bit of electronic. Good for a morning jog!
A bit on the slow and sad side, but I enjoyed it. The melodies are nice and I love the sound of the guitar. The acoustic sound is mellow and relaxing.
Not my favorite Beach Boys album. Their harmonies are of course the thing they are known for, but here it gets quickly tiresome. Feels pretty generic to me, not as fun as their other songs.
Definitely not what I expected from the title! This was a very nice Jazz album. It makes you feel cozy and happy, like spending a winter day reading by the fire.
This is really not my thing. It felt like the ramblings of a half stoned old man in some seedy bar. If that's your cup of tea you'll love it, but to me it was boring, depressing and badly sung.
While I can listen to a few songs I don't usually enjoy synth-pop. This album was too repetitive and electronic for my taste but probably someone who likes the genre might enjoy it. At least the voice is chill enough.
Classic album from the early 60s. Nice harmonies and melodies, kind of soothing to have in the background. Short and sweet. I enjoyed it.
I'm not a fan of NIN and I honestly expected worse. I ended up liking quite a few songs, although half of the album was too angry/ragey for me. It's worth the experience.
I was agreeably surprised to find this here. While I usually prefer other Rai musicians, this is a nice and fun album that I had never listen to in its entirety. Makes you want to dance and puts you in a good mood.
I'm biased because I'm a massive fan of the old Coldplay but I think this is a great album. The lyrics speak to me on a different level. The simplicity and tone of the music and vocals just hits the right spots.
This was a pretty boring album with the same melodies in most of the songs. Very synth-pop and very 80s so not really my cup of tea. One song was kind of... not bad.
This went better than expected. Very enjoyable, even the 17 minute song.
I'm not really sure why this is here, it's pretty mediocre. Got bored about half way through, but nice instrumentals.
Definitely not a fan of synth pop but this album is pretty bad. I have no idea how this cover of Tainted Love became so popular.
This album seems to be made of your standard 80s too-much-synth tracks but it was surprisingly more pleasant than I expected. Still not to my taste though...
Yeah not my thing. I can't focus on the lyrics and the sounds is not particularly interesting. It's just repetition of the same basic tunes with swearing to make them "interesting"
This is what an excellent classic rock album should be. It's a was a fun to listen to, great guitar work, solid debut album. If you like the genre you'll enjoy it!
Not really my style, maybe a bit too 80s? I thought it was pretty boring and uninteresting. I only really enjoyed two songs.
I'm not a fan of the genre so I was surprised I found myself enjoying quite a few songs. The album was fun to listen. I'm still not a huge fan but it was a nice experience.
It's really a pity that Dylan's voice is so terrible... otherwise this might been a very enjoyable experience.
This was a very 'soulful' type of rock and roll album. I enjoyed it quite a lot! Felt like the perfect mix between New Orleans and London.
This was a decent album. Good riffs and some fun songs, however it gets tiresome by the end.
Rough start but it gets better. I enjoyed listening to the album, some songs are really good but I really did not like the lead singer's voice.
I'm not into electronic music so this felt like being stuck in an endless loop of two notes. You get used to it, like the noise of an airplane engine on a 14 hour flight.
This was a little too eclectic for my taste, feels the album is all over the place but I'm sure that's intended. I'm not a fan of R&B or hip hop but even so I could enjoy a few songs.
If you enjoy repetitive samples, words, and scratching ad nauseam then this is for you. It's like being stuck on a washing machine with a broken record.
This is my favorite REM album. The lyrics, the acoustics, and Stipes' voice just speaks directly to my soul. It has a very special place in my heart.
This was much better than their other albums. It was actually fun to listen. I still can't decide if I love or hate the whole let-me-say-word-then-you-say-word.
This is a great blues album. The sound is just amazing!
I love this stage of the Beatles, it's just music that makes you want to dance and have fun. The vocals and songs are great, even if half are covers!
This was completely unexpected. The album feels much darker than their upbeat more popular songs, but it showcases their voices and talents just as well. Really enjoyed it.
Pretty basic 'pop' album, nothing great nothing too bad. I liked they tried to make it a bit more blues/americana but after a while most of the songs just blend into each other.
It's an interesting album but I never understood the hype. Feels a bit too experimental for my taste, some songs are really good but others are just too psychedelic.
I enjoyed this more than I expected. I knew the more famous songs but the other ones surprised me by their melody and composition. 7 O'clock news is particularly poignant.
This was an interesting and easy listening. I liked the fantasy vibes but it I grew a bit weary by the end.
This was terrible. I have no idea what I just listened too. Tedious screaming dude over repetitive baselines? My friend's band in middle school had more musicality than any of this.
Nice and chill album with very meaningful lyrics. Her voice, lyrics and melody mix very well through out the entire album.
This feels like endless elevator music with words. The recording quality does feel very high but not enough to compensate for the monotony.
This is a classic soul album with great songs. Aretha Franklin is always a pleasure to listen to. It's a bit measured for my usual taste but I enjoyed it.
This was an interesting listen. I enjoyed the originality of the album, and how they tried to weave a story with songs. I liked the overall vibes, even if a few songs are bit over the top.
This album was alright. I liked the slower songs better. A bit too grating on some songs, the high pitched voice gets tiresome.
A bit on the slow side but a very enjoyable album. It truly felt like listening to "an slice of America" from the late 60s early 70s.
This a pop album done right. It's fun from beginning to end, full of catchy songs and refreshingly positive songs. I realized I had listened to a lot of these songs as covers (which sometimes I enjoyed more) so it was nice to listen to the originals.
I love this album. They have such a unique and pure sound. It's one of those albums that speak directly to your heart and feels like a balm to the soul.
This is an extraordinary album. It was revolutionary when it came out, and you can still feel that almost 50 years later. I don't know any other group that can successfully interweave such a mix of musical ranges.
This is a pretty solid album, some songs are really good and I liked how they added more of a soul/blues style. The problem is, I just didn't connect with it that much. Wild Horses is exceptional though.
I'm seriously not a fan of whatever this is... punk? rock? alternative? I just couldn't tolerate the dissonance of the two singers, and all the screeching. It is too inharmonious for my taste.
I got bored so checked the track list and I was barely halfway through the third song. This album has no redeeming qualities for me. Just barely music, mostly noise.
I'm not a fan of the genre so for me it got very monotonous very quickly. While the voice is quite pleasant, the rest is pretty mediocre.
This was interesting but it's not an album I will likely listen to again. Some of the songs are almost enjoyable but it all gets lost in a giant mess of sounds. I can understand its significance but it's definitely not my thing.
I might be biased, but this album marked a generation. I've always enjoyed it as a decent rock/punk album. It's fun and full of energy, but manages to express quite well the frustration and disillusionment felt at that time.
I did not enjoy this album at all. It was a bit too electronic for my taste. The hip-hop inspiration felt a bit too messy so I couldn't really find anything to enjoy besides the last song.
Just like their song, this is overkill. If you're a fan of metal you'll probably enjoy this album. It's dynamic, noisy, and repetitive. However, to me, it was just a 2-hour long headache.
This album has a fantastic start and then just keeps going. Very funky and jammy with great rhythms. Didn't even notice the songs are 12 min long! Just a fun, and well-rounded album.
I know it's not a revolutionary album but I enjoyed all the songs. I like how it doesn't really sound like anything from the same era, the mix of genres feels quite modern.
This was an enjoyable album, but I found myself a bit bored when I reached disk 2. I think this more a dancing than a listening album.
Meh. Pretty generic Pop/Rock album. What bothered me the most is that I grew tired of Bono's voice by end.
Not my thing. I don't enjoy the genre too much and the album is quite tedious. Feels very repetitive and quite soulless.
I've never been a fan of Jethro Tull but this album was half decent. Some songs were quite good, but I just can't get over the flute. It's like Bob Dylan's harmonica all over again, after a while it just grows tiresome.
I'm not sure how to characterize this album but it was an interesting listen. I enjoyed a few songs quite a lot, mostly those more on the indie rock side. If you like progressive rock, alternative and punk this is it.
I think this is the first album by Dylan that I actually enjoyed as a whole. The tone of the album fits his voice better and for once I could focus on the lyrics without being (too) overwhelmed by the harmonica.
I don't know how to explain how much I love this album. Every song has it's own "soul" but they all work so well together too.
I usually like Blur but this album is not really that good. Besides the first two songs which are great, the rest of the album feels... not up to the task.
Should you listen to this because it's a musically interesting, an unusual mix, and kind of original in its own way? Sure. Is it good? Meh unless you're a fan of Metallica. Props to the SF Symphony, all the stars are for them.
OK this is not half bad but I'm really not a fan of the genre. It feels like it goes on forever, I was getting bored, wondered how much was left and I was only on song #6.
Is it bad? Not really. Is it my thing? Not at all. Besides a few songs the rest of the album is very lackluster.
This album was an interesting listen, not at all what I expected. It started well but his grating voice was unbearable by the end.
I'm not sure how to explain how much I liked this album. It is kind of weird in a very positive way, feels fresh and original. It has good music and a great flow. If you're into indie music, you'll enjoy it.
This is just terribly boring. This album has no redeeming qualities. Sounds like mildly upbeat rated R elevator music.
Nothing particularly exceptional. The singer is quite bad and the songs are very generic.
This album starts great but really quickly falls into broken-record territory: the same boring rhythm and melodies, Byrne's voice is not even that great, so what's even the point?
It's a nice album, goes really fast. Nothing exceptional but it was a nice listen although it gets a bit repetitive by the end.
If you enjoy melancholic British pop-rock this will be your jam. The songs are really varied and I enjoyed their guitar sound. Overall a solid listen.
The album is not the worst. I actually enjoyed the music but the screeching voice gets old really fast. Yes, I know it's called "The Scream" but punk is really not for me.
I'm sorry but I really dislike his monotone voice and generic sound. This was so boring and depressing. If you like Emo anthems, you'll enjoy this.
Apparently he was as good as pianist as he was a terrible human being. The album is great, full of energy and good rock but it's hard to enjoy knowing the man behind the music.
This album manages to create an entire atmosphere bubble in your living room. It's so original and fresh, I highly recommend the adventure!
Some songs are rather good, makes me think of a mix of B-52s hoping for some more punk. The album itself is rather unimaginative unfortunately.
This was a nice and quiet pop album. Nothing too fancy but it's pleasant to have in the background.
This is far from destroying Rock and Roll, it's just a string of repetitive sounds that kind of counts as music. I would say it's a pretty average electronic album.
Not a fan of hip-hop, for the first time I found myself able to actually listen to the lyrics. While the music might be a tad repetitive, their words managed to convey a strong message. Just like poetry. Makes me sad their social critique is still on point 30 years later.
This is fun and energetic album. I love the style but I have to admit it gets a bit tiresome by the end of the album. There are some great songs in there though!
A little bit too funky for my taste but I didn't have trouble enjoying it. It's an energetic and fun album that I'm sure funk/soul fans will appreciate.
I think this is terrible because I don't like punk, but maybe someone who is into hardcore punk will find some redeeming quality within it. There is some rock undertone that wasn't entirely bad. At least the songs are short...
Quite a nice and solid indie album. Their voices are really melodic and combined with the music, it makes me feel kind of happy but nostalgic. Lovely to have in the background.
Led Zep is the best cover band that has ever existed. Is this a good album? I would say yes, but the fact that a lot of it is liberally taken from other artists with no credit leaves a bad taste in my ears.
Not impressed to be honest. His voice comes out so dull for this style of album. Overall pretty boring, only redeeming song was Atlantic City.
If you're looking for the cure to insomnia this album is it.
This was terribly boring. While the music was mediocre, even if interesting for a few songs, the lyrics were all over the place. I also don't get songs that are just swearwords and n-words stringed together.
Plain boring and unimaginative. A lot of the album felt like a terribly bad rip-off of the Bestie Boys.
This entire album was a breath of fresh air. The music is fantastic and vibrant, and their voices are so soothing. African rhythms skillfully mixed with traditional blues.
I have mixed feelings. Some song are really good, others are just so tedious and long. I do feel it's an album that showcases Madonna's voice quite well.
This was a pretty boring album that felt like an endless Toy Story song. It was like listening to polished, censured, and sanitized "Americana" music.
This was a very generic album, I'm not sure why it's here as it's far from special. Works well as background music.
This was not as terrible as I expected, some songs could be saved if it wasn't for the constant screeching. If you're into energetic screaming with dissonant sounds in the background you'll love this album.
I'm not a fan of the genre so the album is not to my taste. However, Stevie's voice is great, and some songs have really good lyrics and rhythms. I enjoyed the second half of the album better as it's a bit more soulful.
This was an interesting and very fun album to listen to. It's a very successful mix of Brazilian sounds and Afro-funk, that just puts you in a good mood.
This was a nice smooth, laid-back kind of light-jazz album. I'm not sure if it's because I could only listen to it on YT but the voice didn't do it for me. I enjoyed more the piano and background music than the lyrics/voice.
This was a great album, loved all the songs. It's pretty energetic and has a good rhythm all the way through. Solid rock album.
I found this album to be pretty mediocre, not necessarily bad but pretty repetitive and unoriginal. However, fans of punkish rock might appreciate it.
Not a fan of R&B but this album was one of the few I could listen to without being annoyed or bored (lots of variety!). I could focus on the lyrics too and overall was a nice experience.
I know this album is a classic but it just doesn't resonate with me. Yes, Immigrant Song is awesome, Tangerine is a great song, and the album is very technically sound... but I just didn't care by the end.
This was a solid album, a great mix between country folk, rock, and a hint of Americana. I enjoyed all the songs, they all kind of hit you in different ways.
For a debut album, this is pretty amazing. Overall it's a solid and good rock album with quite a lot of hits that almost 40 years after are still going strong. Some people might overlook it because of this, but it's definitely worth the listen.
I think Wilco is a great group but this album is boring. Maybe the songs would work better separately? I was really struggling to not roll my eyes when song after song had the same dull beat. It's a shame because there are some interesting things in there.
Do you like synth 80s music and whiny monotonous voices? Then this album is for you. I thought this was exceptionally boring.
Fun and enjoyable album that feels more like pop-rock than anything else. It does lack a bit of energy for a live performance but it was a nice listen.
I'm not a fan of funk so I was dreading this after seeing the title but it wasn't actually all that bad. Some funk is hiding in there under quite a bit of soul, rock, and R&B. A few songs were great, and some gave me a Santana vibe.
This is a great big band album. Personally, it feels a bit tiresome after a while but if you're into big band jazz and ballads you'll love it. Ray Charles just doing his thing is worth the listen.
Listening to this album is like being dumped into an industrial washing machine full of wasps while a banshee screams at you with a dystopian raid alarm going on in the background.
A decent pop album with a very 90s sound. Plenty of nostalgia for us old timers. I was agreeably surprised by a few tracks that went a bit out of the usual pop sound.
This is a pretty nice album. Very "quiet" and enjoyable, with a nice mix of genres and African styles. It has some great songs and it's definitely worth the listen at least once.
Very punk album but with a twist. The album has more of a rock feel and influences from other styles (dance? funk?) that makes it interesting enough. Not a fan of punk but this was a decent listen. Fans of punk will likely love it.
Do you like tango, bandoneon, and piano? Do you want to feel like you are in a 1940s detective almost film noir set in Argentina? Then this album is for you. Not really my thing, but it wasn't a chore to listen.
It tells you something that the best songs are the first one and the last one. Everything in between is decent rock but nothing particularly memorable.
This a very interesting Jazz album. The sound is very rough (go read the full story on Wiki) but because of it you can really feel Jarett's talent. A full hour of piano got a bit too much for me but it's definitely worth a listen.
This album is not bad not great either. Some songs are really good, but overall it's just OK. It feels like it wanted to reproduce the sounds and feelings of another time, but didn't quite manage.
An album full of nice, mellow, and smooth Jazz. It has a different tone from American Jazz, making it sound more fresh and playful to my ears.
I am not sure what I just listened to, but I wouldn't qualify it as music. Technically arranged chaos is still chaos. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
This is a melodic and almost artificially smooth soul/funk album. It feels like they tried to constrain Stevie Wonder and the only time he could get out was for 'Superstition' and 'Big Brother'. The overuse of keyboards and synths is definitely not my thing though.
I'm not a fan of techno/dance so this was quite boring, just repeating random noises ad nauseam. Nothing that stands out from other albums in the same genre, but maybe something a fan of dance would enjoy.
This a great album. Full of energy and perfectly represents the garage rock movement. If you want to dance around and enjoy yourselves, just put this on!
This was a really interesting album, it's like nothing I've ever heard before. The sound was very refreshing in that sense, but it's filled with a lot experimental sounds. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. Definitely worth the listen though!
Not my favorite work of Radiohead, a bit too experimental for my taste but that's not to say it wasn't somewhat enjoyable. It just feels as if they dived too deep without being prepared for it.
To be honest I'm kind of disappointed, I feel this album should be better. It has all the ingredients to make it great, but comes off just a bit above mediocre. A lot of the songs sound the same, and you end up with a flat album.
This album manages to capture the essence of popular music in the 80s. It is not my cup of tea but if you find yourself nostalgic for synth-pop electro music without much originality, then this is for you.
I enjoyed the mix of Bossa Nova, Jazz, and Sinatra's smooth voice. This is nothing revolutionary but it's a very chill album to just put in the background and enjoy.
Not being a fan of the genre I didn't really find anything interesting in this album. I would say it's pretty average, some nice rhythms and decent vocals. Couldn't be bothered with the lyrics but at least their flow was good.
This was a good album, with very nice vibes complemented by the beautiful mellowed voice of Marley. The additional layer of social commentary just makes it more than just an easy listen.
I'm not a fan of the genre, but I found myself enjoying a few songs. I think it's a decent album as far as screaming things into a mic goes.
It might not be fair but this gives me "discount Beatles" vibes.
Is Oasis overrated? some might think so, but I still love them. Something about just making fun and enjoyable music that still speaks to your teenager self makes this a great album.
Not a fan of rap, so this was really a drag (over an hour long). I could barely understand the words, so any political or social commentary was lost to me. Musically it's just meh.
This wasn't as bad as I expected. Quite a nice surprise as I don't usually listen to hip-hop. I liked that I could actually follow the lyrics. I enjoyed her voice and overall melodies, particularly the jazzy and lo-fi vibes.
This a very generic and bland album. Some songs can stand alone for a while, but as an album, everything just drips to the ground at the speed of molasses.
This a wonderful OG rock and roll album. The songs are a blast and you can feel his love for music in each and every one of them.
This album is a piece of history, not only because of the musical performance by B.B. King but also because it manages to capture the effect of his music on his audience. This is an excellent live blues album, King is a great performer and the audience reaction just made it a blast to listen.
This album is not bad, just not my cup of tea. Joni Mitchell's voice is too grating for my taste, and the album itself doesn't feel all that outstanding. If you're into depressing ballads by high-pitched women you'll enjoy this.
I tried to get over the mumbling, screeching voice, and synths but I just couldn't. This was so boring. Definitely not my thing.
This was terrible. I was amazed "Every breathe you take" is in this album and the one star I'm giving it belongs entirely to that song.
I tried but I just couldn't get it. This album is too experimental and 80s for me. It felt like listening to nails scratching on a board for 40 min.
I loved it. It feels like good old classic rock. Great melodies, catchy riffs, and amazing voices. Overall just pure fun and excellent musicianship. You don't even feel the 9 min songs pass by...
I love The Killing Moon but the rest of the album feels a bit flat in comparison. The album itself has a very early indy sound that I really dig with quite a beautiful orchestral accompaniment.
This got boring really fast. It feels like a poor excuse for violence, misogyny, and swearing. When all you do is use swear words to communicate, it kind of misses the point, no matter how relevant the political commentary is.
This album starts well but quickly goes downhill. It's not bad per se but just feels disconnected. Some songs feel like noises put together to try to make them sound coherent.
Definitely not a fan of Prine's voice but the songs themselves were decent enough to keep me interested. Lyrics are on point. A bit too country for me but it ended up being quite a nice listen.
Not a fan of rap but this guy's flow is insane. The lyrics are so much better than anything I've heard from most English rappers. This was pretty decent. Nice vibes.
Not a fan of the synthetic sound. The album seems pretty basic, nothing stands out, besides the misogyny and homophobia. I'm not entirely sure why this made the list.
I'm pretty sure you need to be stoned to enjoy this album. Not a fan of random and discordant noises.
I'm not really sure if this qualifies as heavy metal and maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much. It feels more like pop-rock wanting to be heavy which actually works well.
The album is decent. It gives me a bit more pop vibes than your usual country/folk album, but that might also be its appeal. A few songs do stand out.
I was expecting something with more depth but the album is OK. The sound production is great but I got lost in the 90 minutes of it. Some really good songs, others just... there.
I'm not a reggae fan but this album had some cool vibes and was a nice listen. Just put it in the background and let the music take you away.
This gives me heavily discounted Sparks (the band) vibes. Besides a few tracks, it's a pretty mediocre album. If you enjoy repetition and scratchy monotonous music this is for you.
Solid 70s hard rock album. If this is your jam you'll enjoy it, if not it might be a bit too screechy for you. I enjoyed the ride.
Not a fan of electronic music but this album was fun. I enjoyed quite a few songs and the entire album flows incredibly well. It almost feels like a book, with chapters, a beginning, and an end.
I'm not a fan of metal but this album wasn't as terrible as I expected it to be. I liked the more rock and roll and guitar-oriented songs, as well as the energy of the album as a whole.
Yes, it's Sinatra but after almost an hour of singing about heartbreak, you kind of wish he had gone to therapy instead. If you need lounge background music this might work.
Not at all what I expected but this was a rather nice and chill album. I very much enjoyed the instrumental songs, but once they start singing it kind of ruins the experience as it becomes very much ordinary and even terrible.
If plain white toast was made music.
Great combination of Afro-Cuban rhythms and Jazz. Good energy and is just fun to listen all around. Feels both modern and old with a proper big band sound.
Some interesting sounds and a few good songs but overall the album feel pretty generic and repetitive. Too dissonant for my taste, I wanted out by the fifth song.
This is not my cup of tea, too synth-pop to my liking. Feels like curated punk. I grew tired of the same overall sound. I guess if you're into this type of style you'll enjoy it but I'm not sure what makes it stand out to be in this list.
A terrible effort trying to make music out of random noises, strident voices, and what I assume is the elevator music as you're going down to hell.
This was a difficult one to rate because some songs are *really* good but others are just generic melodies with honey syrup. More blues and grass would have been a better choice. However, in the end the album manages to encapsulate the 70s as a whole.
I'm not a fan of hip-hop but this wasn't half as bad as I expected. The entire album has a nice groove and some interesting songs. I was pleasantly surprised.
I don't get Bjork. I guess I would have to live in places where it's dark half of the year to relate to this music. Some of the songs are not that bad but her voice is so grating, I can't get past it.
This is exactly the kind of album you expect from the title. It's what a teenager in the 90s would listen to and maybe even love (some songs are quite good!). Is it revolutionary? I don't think so, but it's a great time capsule.
To me, this is one of the greatest albums of all time. The quality of the sound, the songs, lyrics, melodies, and harmonies, is on an entirely different level. The train wreck that was going on behind the scenes made this not just a great album but pure and raw emotion translated into music.
Not as good or fresh as their other albums but still a decent pop/rock album with some great songs. "In my life" gets a whole star by itself.
The energy and the fun are there, even quite decent guitar riffs... it's too bad that it all gets lost in the terrible bad lyrics and mediocre vocals.
I thought, "oh no, another hip-hop album" but this album is truly exceptional. I usually dislike the genre but this was so fresh and fun, I couldn't help but enjoy it. Great tunes.
I honestly was quite surprised by this album. It was fun, energetic, and a lot of the songs are really catchy. Seems like the right mix of rock and punk.
I don't understand why this album is here. It's such a bland one. Generic riffs and melodies mixed with Morrissey's awful monotone voice.
This is not a bad album but I think it's too country for my taste. The same melody starts to get tiresome halfway through, the last few songs are more rock and enjoyable. If country is your thing, this one is quite good!
I'm not usually a fan of metal but I really liked this album. I found myself headbanging for a bit. Very solid album with plenty of good tracks.
This a decent rock album, not too audacious, just plain good solid rock and roll. You might find it a tad flavorless after a bit (like gum you've chewed for too long), but it will still be enjoyable.
While I can understand why this album might be considered significant, it's definitely not my cup of tea. Some songs are interesting but too much synths and monotone rhythms for my taste.
This is one of the first albums that I remember loving entirely, so it has a special place in my heart. I truly miss _this_ Coldplay. The songs are well crafted, the lyrics are meaningful... it's just a solid album from beginning to end.
This was pretty terrible. Some songs have great potential but the singer's tone/voice and strident noises just don't work. The rest is just over-saturated noise. Gave me a headache.
It's hard to put aside the fact that Clapton is a terrible human being. This album is pretty mediocre, lots of flavorless ballads with some occasional decent blues.
If you're into funk and angsty rock this album is probably for you. I enjoyed a few songs but after a while, it becomes quite dull.
While the French version is better, this album has no real redeeming qualities. It's not bad per se but it's the very definition of generic and even artificial (as in lacking soul). An 80s wanna-be vibe albeit with a better production sound. Been there done that.
This is a decent album that starts very strong but I feel got a bit lost halfway through. Still a fun listen but besides the most known hits I don't think I'll revisit this one.
Not at all what I expected. Nice overall album with a great indie vibe. If you enjoy the genre you'll have a blast.
Are you angry or an angsty teenager? then you will enjoy this. I got bored after a while, to be honest, it's a shame that the message gets lost in all the repetitive screaming.
I had never heard this album entirely, but I'm glad I finally did. It didn't really fit my image of heavy metal as I felt a lot of blues/rock in it (which is probably why I liked it so much). Awesome guitar riffs.
It starts kind of slow but it grows on you. This is a nice solid live album that I ended up enjoying.
This is a very interesting album. It has the nostalgia of the Beach Boy hits mixed with surprising sounds and composition. The sound production is wonderful and makes this worth the listen even if the songs are not your cup of tea.
I like Daft Punk but this tested my limits. Among all the great work they've done, I have no idea why they chose this album. It is the definition of repetitive without any payoff. Almost feels like anxiety made music.
An unexpected album from the Bee Gees. It's not bad in itself, it just feels average. I cannot recognize the distinct Bee Gees sound that makes their music fun and enjoyable (even when the lyrics are sad). The result is just another "generic pop" album.
This is definitely not my cup of tea, but among all the hip hop albums I've heard this wasn't half as bad. I couldn't focus on the lyrics but I enjoyed the rhythms and the flow.
This album is a nice mix of rock and punk bit a dash of emo. Not what I usually listen to, but this was enjoyable and quite original. It has a very specific vibe to it (think goth angry hunted house) that I'm sure will appeal to some.
This album is pretty average I would say nothing really stood out for me. It feels like Black Sabbath was still trying to find its groove.
I really can't stand Lauper's voice pitch, which made this a hard listen. Overall it's a decent 80s pop album, with a few fun songs. If you're into synths and high-pitch voices you'll enjoy it more than I did.
I was very surprised by this album. I really loved it! Not only did I enjoy every song, but also how the album ties together. It has this very nice cool calm alt-rock vibe that feels modern but it is also very distinctively 90s.
What an accurate album title. From what I've previously heard from George Micheal I was expecting to hate this but I thoroughly enjoyed the entire album. It's a solid pop album with very interesting lyrics and a nice stylistic variety. Give it a go, you won't regret it.
Pretty decent album but nothing to write home about. I put it in the background and kind of forgot about it. Great Expectations did stand out for me.
This is miles worse than listening to Dylan's endless harmonica. Was the budget only good enough for a children's Casio keyboard?? I give it a star solely because by the end I was laughing hysterically at how bad the music production of this album is.
This album started very generic, and I was ready to just put it in the background as just another 70s rock album, but the more you listen the more it gets interesting. I ended up enjoying the entire thing. Some songs are really good, others are just OK but it's worth a listen.
Tom Waits has such a characteristic voice that works well for some things and less for others. This album is a mix of the above. While the songs themselves are rather nice, his voice does not suit a lot of them. Your enjoyment of this album will depend entirely on how you feel about Waits' gritty mumbling voice.
The album itself is fine. I did not enjoy the weird genre it belongs to though. Feels like a mix of pop and campy jazz, but doesn't excel in either area. Her voice gets a bit on my nerves sometimes.
This is as bland as a piece of white toast.
The album seemed a bit too experimental for my liking, so I ended up only half-heartedly listening to it in the background. "Biko" however made it all worthwhile, that song alone deserves all the stars.
I'm not a fan of country, but Dolly Parton makes it rather fun and enjoyable. She manages to inject some life into otherwise repetitive songs and themes. Her voice also fits the genre so well.
This album sounds amazing and feels like the epitome of "flower power". I loved the jazzy and rock and roll sound of it, mixed with great melodies and lyrics.
I'm not usually a fan of psychedelic rock as it can be a little too experimental. I didn't get that feeling with this album. I actually enjoyed the entire thing, their melodies are clean and the production is quite good.
Music has the right to children but maybe not this album. Pretty meh. I've heard significantly better from other electronic albums. If you enjoy repetitive sounds and washing machine noises, this is for you.
Syhtpop is definitely not my thing, so this album was pretty boring for me. Honestly, the music that Spotify recommended afterward was a thousand times better. Not entirely sure why this is here, there's nothing particularly good about it.
Solid album. Very enjoyable. I never expected blues to mix so well with psychedelic rock.
This is a great soul and blues album. Full of energy and one of the greatest guitar works I've heard. Loved it.
Is this great music? Not really. Is it fun to listen to? Some of it. Do you want to feel like your life is an episode of Grey's Anatomy? Just put this on full blast.
The singer almost sounds like she's signing off key on purpose. Right from the start it put me off. A lot of it feels like discounted Massive Attack that fell off the shelves. Too bad because they have one or two songs that show they could do better.
For lack of better words: What in the actual fuck. I might never go near a duck again in my life.
This is not just music, it's a piece of history. It's a great live album, the atmosphere is so energetic, and even if you don't like the music I'm sure you'll love everything in between.
I'd say an average hard rock album. At some point I couldn't even distinguish when one song ended and another started.
The album is OK, some songs might be fun by themselves but it gets tedious after a while. There's a general lack of energy and emotion. Main singer is just so flat and artificial.
This is an energetic live album. I really enjoyed it, and James Brown is just a blast. Sound quality might not be the best but it was fun.
Do you like repetitive somewhat mysterious music that thinks it sounds revolutionary, this is for you. I had to call it quits halfway through.
Not a fan of her style but the album itself is not as bad as I expected. Overall pretty mediocre to be honest.
I'm not entirely sure how this is considered revolutionary. Maybe there is something in the background but I found it mediocre and repetitive.
The album is a bit too synth-pop for my taste, it feels like it has a hard time letting go of the 80s, but it is not such a bad listen. Funny enough I found myself enjoying the more modern cover versions of their hits rather than the originals.
While I think Waterfalls is a masterstroke, I don't know where the rest of the album is going. The last few songs get better but overall it's pretty boring and as sexy/cool as plain toast.
This wins the most apt title for an album. The production is on point and has such a modern feel. If you like an ounce of soul you will love it.
This was a complete surprise. It almost felt like a Wes Anderson movie. Fun, fresh, with just enough weirdness to make it enjoyable.
Overall this is an OK album. Sound production is not great but that might come from the "remastered" version I listened to on Spotify. Of course, there are some classics but the second side lacks the spark.
Although I was afraid it would go too country for my taste, this is a decent folk "rock" album. This makes for an easy listen, and I see how this can be representative of the era. Songs are way too similar, so it can get tiresome by the end.
From the first notes of this album, I was disappointed. I don't understand the appeal of a mediocre mix of hooks, samples, random voices, and synth. However, If you enjoy 80's heavy electronic meet hip-hop music, this is for you.
Blows my mind that someone who sings so smoothly about love has also been involved in abusive behavior towards several women in their life. As for the album, it was pretty decent if not a bit monotonous. I've listened to better soul.
Not a fan of this album. It starts OK but the more it keeps going the more random and bizarre (not in a good way) it gets. I don't mind the instrumental part but it's just meh. "Sound and Vision" was the only song I truly enjoyed.
This is a great album, truly representative of the 90s alternative rock. It feels sad but energetic, raw and angsty but still fun. The guitars are a blast.
