Pretty good, I remember listening to this about 10 years ago and it was definitely unlike anything I had heard before. Listening to it again in 2021, it still holds up but doesn't really sit well with me since I'm not a huge metal fan.
"Into my arms" sounds very familiar, I'm sure I heard it somewhere without realizing it was Nick Cave.
Has a very similar sound to all songs throughout the album. I like the title song but other songs were mostly misses.
I don't know any music by The Cars so this was my first time hearing them and I am not impressed.
Solid but not a fan of Lloyd Cole's voice.
Pretty good but sounds the same throughout the album.
One of my favorite bands, anything with John Frusciante is great!
Pretty good, but not my favorite Rolling Stones
This has been one of the more promising albums I've heard so far. I think it's a bit mellow for morning listenings while working but I will come back to this.
Reminds me very much of Vangelis' music. Had to listen to "Fields of Coral" by Vangelis in the middle of this.
I think since its release, there have been better version of synth instrumental albums that I've discovered before this so it's going to be an unremarkable album in my opinion.
La Grange is the best song.
Interesting sound, love the House of the Rising Sun cover
Pretty good live album, haven't heard Allman Brothers Band too much to comment on how it compares to their studio albums.
This is my favorite album of all time, must listen!
I think I've heard a different Eagles album so this one surprised me with some songs I hadn't heard.
Just for Stan this gets 5 stars
Great album, has "It's tricky" and "Walk this way" which are pretty popular to this day and overall this album sounds good.
One of my favorite folk / singer-songwriter albums. Even with a few not so great songs, overall the album is amazing.
Take me on is pretty much the best song on this album
Besides Sweet Dreams, nothing else stands out
Probably one of my top rap albums of all time, there are so many great songs on this. The vibe on this album is essentially the best overall.
One of my favorite albums.
I had only heard "Angie" from this album before listening to the whole thing.
Overall, album is OK. "Angie" is the best song on the whole thing.
Pretty typical of the era, nothing too exciting for me.
I had heard "Dirty Work" before. Everything else is new to me.
Not my cup of tea but she is very good at singing
This album has so much soul and heart, I can't put it into words. This opened my eyes to what music is and can be...
I tried but the last straw was the 2nd track on the album and I just couldn't continue...
Interesting music but I didn't really enjoy it.
Voice is great, music not so great.
You can tell this album has a lot of musical talent within it. I'm not a musician or a critic so I can't appreciate it as much as someone with an ear for that but it was fun to listen to.
pretty good overall, some heavy hitter songs but it's so limited in range
will forever live on as one of the best rap albums of all time.
The intro track was weird. Where is my mind is a perfect grunge song. Gigantic is cool but a bit weird, this was maybe b/c it's early grunge and attempting things was kinda the cool thing to do ☺️
I like Neil Young but is not one of my faves by him.
I'm sure this album has a great following but to me it kinda sounded loud and annoying
He's good, but I don't like him that much.
This is a great discovery!
frank zappa was on some good drugs
pretty great, some songs that we nowadays make fun of like Wonderwall but it is amazing that it's not the only song on the album that's good.
You can see there's great things coming from Frank Ocean
One of the greatest albums of all time. It holds up well as a standard record of what a perfect album should be. The harmonizing, the writing, and the instruments in it are a combination that is rarely done well together.
I'm torn between giving this a 4 or a 5 because in terms of its influence on hip hop music, it's a huge milestone. In terms of comparing it in hindsight to their other albums, the Tribe was just getting started.
To review this album, it requires you do a circuit of 90s and early 2000s hip hop music before you attempt to appreciate just how well this album was produced and its lyrical content.
It's easy to get a club banger with a good producer, it's almost just as easy to find a rapper who can put out a dozen or so lyrically dense songs but it's rare to see an album with timely yet timeless classics composed of good production, great lyrics, and lasting influence.
It's easy to exempt those rating this below 4 stars are lacking in their ability to see the historical importance of a hip hop album when all you've been salivating over is heavily made up glam rock and stadium rock bands who have exhausted their audiences' eardrums to appreciate the subtle nuances of samples picked for the stereos of cheap cars.
Only a few memorable songs, mostly just experimental work
This is real rock and roll
