Gang Of FourDecent punk rock. I liked the lyrics and some of the grooves but personally I like punk to go a little harder and with more energy. Just a personally taste thing
Decent punk rock. I liked the lyrics and some of the grooves but personally I like punk to go a little harder and with more energy. Just a personally taste thing
Pretty enjoyable but found some of the songs to feel repetitive. From other albums in the genre I know that songs tend to repeat the same grooves, however then my expectation is that the groove better be really good if I'm going to hear it over and over for awhile
I haven’t listened to a lot of this kind of drum and bass music, but I will say it was great music to work in the office to. Not to distracting but also kept my foot taping through most of it.
Love that this album is simultaneously so dark sounding but also so energetic. Some of the instrumental tracks drag on a little but overall the album is mostly bangers.
I really liked the first track, Buffalo Stance; it’s a really cool blend of 80s hip hop and pop that I hadn’t heard before. However the rest of the album really didn’t stand out to me musically, however I did enjoy the political themes in the lyrics.
There were more guitar solos on the album than I remembered which was fun. overall a decent listen
Baker has a nice voice but none of these songs really stood out to me
Fun jangly pop/punk sound and great guitar. Album is way too long though. Like way too long
Classic album. A lot of kinds come from this album that I didn’t even realize
Intellectually I feel like this album is decent but I just didn’t enjoy it that much. Maybe I felt like it was trying too hard.
Fire album. Good mix of fast and slow songs and the performance is great. Almost as close to original rock as you can get
Great songwriting and performance. There's a certain something to Wilco I can't put my finger on but I like them more than other people in this genre
One of my all time favorite albums. The story telling and emotion on this album is some of the best I've seen. The beats go hard but don't get in the way of the lyrics at all.
The title track is obviously a banger. The rest of the album is very pleasant to listen to, but I feel like most of the melodies are repetitive and many songs sound the same. But overall a nice listen.
I didn't realize how many iconic Jazz songs were all on this same album. It's not Miles Davis or John Coltrane but this is a great jazz album. Very enjoyable stuff
This was terrible lol, I couldn't even finish it. Very weird lyrics and below average music
Beautiful songs, intense emotion, sweet guitar solos. Simply one of the best
Some fun guitar stuff but overall a generic sounding 80s album
Fun album. Not necessarily my genre but I recognize some decent song writing in here.
Nice song writing and stories. No guitar shredding obviously but great melodies and pleasant chord progressions throughout. Always an easy listen
Even though I feel like this music is kind of bad, it's really fun. The guitar solos really go for it and the energy is good. Probably wouldn't play it with other people unless I was trying to meme
This was nice background music, but I'm not sure I can rate background music higher than 2 stars. If it was more upbeat electronic music I could imagine dancing to it at a party. Not sure it's interesting enough for me to devote my full attention to it and listen without doing anything else
I'd give this album a 2.5 if I could. Nothing really bad about it but also nothing really caught my attention. Nice songs but nothing really amazing on here
Great songwriting. The juxtaposition of dreamy, romantic lyrics as well as their smooth and crooning performance on top of heavier rock guitar and drums creates the unique Smiths sound. Also lmao at this being the album for this day, definitely not a coincidence.
Fun rock album. Can hear influences from the Beatles and the Stones with a modern twist
Pretty dope piano music. Dude was going off. Probably way better live and maybe a little high. I listened to it in the gym so maybe not the perfect listening environment.
This was a fun listen, I hadn't heard much Cee-Lo before. I felt like it was unique from other stuff in the genre but not necessarily my jam
It's a nice album but I've maybe never really been a big Van Morrison fan outside of the most popular songs
Kind of bad generic 80s pop. 1.5 stars
Honestly not a bad electronic album. I'm usually pretty harsh with these because there a high bar to cross for me to enjoy listening to one of these outside of the context of being inebriated and in a large crowd of people dancing. But I enjoyed this one at work and could see myself listening to it in other contexts
I really liked this album. I already like the sound of Irish folk music, and with the addition of the punk spirit in the lyrics and performance a really unique sound is created. I'd like to listen again or read the lyrics at least because I feel like I'd get even more out of this album
There’s really nice song writing in here and some interesting song structures. I like the instrumental breaks followed by the return of the chorus or hook with lots of energy. Rod Stewart is a lot more than the cheesy crooner I thought he was
Honestly kind of slow for me at the beginning but then the energy really picked up. I think I’ve gotten accustomed to music that has 60+ layered tracks and my ear needed to get used to just the guitar drums bass and vocals. Super simple stuff but it goes hard
Pretty iconic stuff. Sick guitar and obviously nasty vocals
This album goes pretty hard and there's lots of hits on here. I like the energy and the use of both good synths and guitar on this album. There's some decent political overtones here but for the most part I don't connect that much with the lyrics and the music can be a bit dramatic at times. But overall I think it's a solid album and it's been very influential on a lot of modern bands
Very fun covers but not much more than back ground music for me
I've got nothing against sad girl music and I like this album. But I don't really have that many occasions to listen to sad girl music. I'm not a sad girl. I'm not even a sad boy. I did listen to this album at the gym, so it probably didn't really get a fair shake, but I don't think I'd listen to this very carefully in other contexts as more than nice background music. Not a bad album though.
Pretty Iconic stuff. Great grooves and social commentary
Fun songs and good energy but nothing too special in my mind
I ended up warming up to this more than I thought. At first it sounded like a more annoying version of oasis but then it opened up into some pretty fun rock
This was fine pop music, nothing special to me.
Just pure blues. It comes out so effortlessly. You can especially tell how people respond to stuff thats so natural on a live recording
Over an hour of songs smooth as butter. Can't really say a bad thing about the album
I like the energy of the music but the singing is a little yelly for me. Maybe just my current mood but the singing is hurting my head
This wasn't bad but it's not much more than generic 60s music to me
Smooth and Funky
Even though I classify this as angry white guy music it really does kind of slap. Growing up listening to it in my dads car likely plays a role.
Wasn't listening to the lyrics much and then the song full of slurs really caught me off guard. Nothing really caught my attention on this album, except, again, for the song full of slurs
Decent for 70s music but nothing stood out to me
I’m not really sure what to call this genre but it’s not really my thing
Loved this album. Neo soul, hip hop, funk, experimental. Great lyrics.
Interesting how you can hear the transition from 80s to 90s music on this album. Good lyrics and energy. I’d prefer if this was all 90s and no 80s influence
Great modern indie/pop rock. Wish there was more modern music coming out like this
Pretty enjoyable punk rock. Interesting to hear different influences in it. Sounds like there's inspiration from 60s-70s rock and even 80s metal kind of sounds. A fun listen and interesting lyrics as well
I liked this album. Varied instrumentation and energy. Did quite catch my attention enough for 4 stars though
We are family is obviously a 5 star song, and while the rest of the album is fun and upbeat, it doesn’t all feel like 5 stars to me. 3.5 stars overall
This sounds really different than a lot of what I’ve heard from the 80s. I found it a lot more interesting than the other 80s stuff on this list, the Irish influences are especially cool.
I don’t really have anything to compare this to but just going off of my own tastes I didn’t really enjoy this album
I like the composition and rock elements but not a fan of the low fi parts
I actually liked the “other” songs on this album as much as the hits. Great bluesy piano and organs and great energy. Harmonies all throughout this album are fantastic
Damn, these lyrics are so brutally honest. Good music and vibes
This music wasn’t bad but I couldn’t help feel like it just sounded like a worse version of the Beatles.
Some interesting grooves but I mostly didn’t enjoy this. I think I’d need more context to know what this album is about to fully appreciate it
I liked this album. Nice composition and instrumentation. But gotta say the dude seems a little unhinged haha
This was pretty trippy. I liked the jazz and atmospheric numbers and then skits were pretty weird but also pretty well done. I was really creeped out by the first one.
The song writing on this album is just so good. Add the blues guitar shredding and you’ve got a fantastic album. Easy 5
Very fun album. I liked it a lot but wasn’t necessarily wowed. I’d give it between 3 and 4 stars
Ellington is obviously one of the greats. Listening to these old concert recordings is always fun to hear how people spoke back then. Live sound is really different from the recordings back then as well
This was a pretty fun listen. I liked the covers and enjoyed the traditional stuff too. I don’t have much to compare it to but I had a good time listening to it
I’m already kind of a sucker for ska and blending it with sweet 80s prog type guitar riffs only gets me even more. I don’t know if I’ve ever listened to ska where I actually liked the guitar riffs and bass grooves more than the horn sections. Either way, this is sick fusion with good social commentary as well. Definitely one of my favorite finds from doing this album generator
No bad as background music, but honestly I get annoyed when albums are 2 hours long. A concert recording. Sure. But stuff from the studio? Trim the fat and just give me the bangers.
Definitely enjoyed this while working but I’m not the kind of jazz appreciator where I need to close my eyes and do nothing but focus on this album each time I listen to it. It’s good for sure but I tend to like slightly more accessible jazz
I WILL dance to off the wall if someone plays it. Mj definitely has a lot of bangers but some of the songs are just okay/decent 80s pop. 5 stars if I was watching the dancing at the same time
Easy five, what more can I say. Fantastic songs one after another
Cool beats and lyrics but I couldn’t really get into the album. I think it’s that I’m not really a fan of so much speaking in music?
Fun concept and the execution was good. Felt like I should have been watching some sort of religious lord of the rings movie to enjoy the album more
This is one of my all time favorite albums. I might be biased because I listened this so much as a kid. It was literally my introduction not only to rock and roll but the first album I liked of my own accord rather than something my parents played for me in the car. Such great guitar riffs, fat drumming and of course Robert Plant’s voice is incredible
I know there’s some famous songs on here but it’s not really my thing
Interesting composition and lyrics, caught my attention for being interesting but not something I’d near still listen to again
This is great pop. Good energy and variety
I like Bowie a lot but this album didn’t really do anything special for me personally
I’m not really a jam band person but the Grateful Dead are very good and the solos are great
This is one of those albums you didn’t know you knew so many of the songs to because they’re in so many movies and shows. It’s fun catchy rock but not too special in my opinion
One if those albums that made me realize I like other things than just classic rock. Radiohead was weird (good) music to me growing up but now it’s just good
