Popular Reviews

Master Of Puppets by Metallica

Metallica had a hurdle to clear what with me not liking metal in general. The music is alright, but all the songs are soooooo long and the singer sings them all exactly the same, ugh. Orion was my favorite as it has no singing, tho that too could cut like 3 minutes.

In Utero by Nirvana
Jan 11 2024

Felt very nostalgic, even though I never listened to Nirvana growing up, but this sort of music is what I gravitated towards when I first started to veer away from our 80's prog rock household (thanks dad). These days I listen to more softer stuff, do I think I would have enjoyed this more as a 20 year old than in my thirties. Enjoyed the more cacophonic stuff.

Parachutes by Coldplay
Jan 12 2024

Sleepy but not in a good way. I'm a boring person but not this boring.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jan 15 2024

Really liked it! May need a couple of relistens to get a handle on it.

Jan 16 2024

When I was delighted at first by Map of the Problematique and then disappointed when it turned out not to be an instrumental, I realized I just don't like the singer.

Moon Safari by Air
Jan 17 2024

Airy, space-agey, chill

British Steel by Judas Priest
Jan 18 2024

I must have heard this first before I'd learned English. So it's kinda hard to listen to this as music and not as hazy memories. Three stars?

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Jan 22 2024

When some of the guitars started to remind me of Oasis, I knew I really liked this one!

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Apr 18 2026

Sort of definitionally sensual. I don't think I'd ever be like today I want to re-listen to this.

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Apr 19 2026

I really liked the first couple of songs, but then it started to wear on me. Maybe should not have listened to near bedtime. Dad music?

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Apr 20 2026

Another album I've heard before. I don't know if I'd ever listen to it on my own though. Pleasant enough for a Sunday morning. 3/5

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Apr 21 2026

Good biking music for my commute. Appreciated the instrumental tracks for breaks.

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Apr 22 2026

Groovy and pleasant. Dad music to the max.

Apr 23 2026

There were a couple of songs I liked (We're in Your Corner, Good to be on the road Back home again), but in general just wasn't to my tastes.

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto
Apr 24 2026

Pleasant enough, but not particularly memorable.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Apr 25 2026

Very cool jazz. I'm generally more into east coast jazz but this is nice too.

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Apr 26 2026

So smooth nothing stuck to the brain

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Apr 27 2026

Found this quote on Wikipedia: "The big problem with Disposable Heroes was that it was a record people listened to because it was good for them - kind of like broccoli." and I do tend to agree. The album is quite dense, and full of ideas on top of mostly moody beats. I was still glad to have heard this.

Scott 4 by Scott Walker
May 01 2026

I can appreciate an album with a song about the Seventh Seal

Red Headed Stranger by Willie Nelson
May 02 2026

Neat little concept album and his voice is great

May 04 2026

Whatever humor there might have been did not translate for the simple fact that the music and especially the rapping was like nails on chalkboard. My least favorite of this project so far.

2112 by Rush
May 05 2026

Very nostalgic

D by White Denim
May 06 2026

Nice enough

The Wall by Pink Floyd
May 08 2026

Pretty good, would probably be more impactful with the visuals

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
May 09 2026

The kind of album I might start really loving after a couple of listens, but for now this

Stripped by Christina Aguilera
May 11 2026

If it was half the length it would easily earn another star

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
May 12 2026

A very nostalgic album for me as this was one of the first albums I ventured into when I started to listen to my 'own' music. Some of the lyrics are quite clunky now 15 years later but still familiar

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
May 13 2026

Surprisingly enjoyable as I'm not much for harder music. Ozzy's voice is in a league of his own

Vulnicura by Björk
May 14 2026

Samey production in every song and her singing was samey too. Can't say I enjoyed this at all.

Raw Power by The Stooges
May 15 2026

Energetic and raw are the only words for this

At San Quentin by Johnny Cash
May 16 2026

Perfectly charming. A best example of what a live album can be

Frank by Amy Winehouse
May 17 2026

Tunes were nice but did not stick particularly

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
May 18 2026

I rather liked the instrumentals but maybe the singing wasn't to my tastes. Easily is a non-single highlight

May 20 2026

Pretty good. If you're really into southern rock, you're probably into this. For me this was pleasant enough, but not something I'll return to.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
May 21 2026

60's rock just ain't for me

Paris 1919 by John Cale
May 22 2026

I love me some art pop

The Rise & Fall by Madness
May 24 2026

The start of the album was enjoyable but by the end it was sounding like children's tv show themes, so two it is

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
May 26 2026

The lyrics are so good, even if the music is quite simplistic

Roxy Music by Roxy Music
May 27 2026

Perfectly alright with a couple of cool jazzier tunes

Jun 01 2026

Alright but not too memorable

Stankonia by OutKast
Jun 02 2026

Wasn't really my thing

Dear Science by TV On The Radio

I knew them from Wolf Like Me and was delighted by this album. Definitely adding it to the regular rotation.

California by American Music Club
Jun 04 2026

Chill and pretty melancholy music

Sounds like Bruce but more inside feelings

Two Dancers by Wild Beasts
Jul 06 2026

Just my kinds of tunes

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jul 07 2026

Groovy and fun, just don't pay too much attention to the lyrics

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Jul 09 2026

Definitely achieves what it wants to. I can see myself listening to this and writing horror

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Jul 11 2026

Lively classical blues

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Jul 16 2026

Never heard of her but definitely will listen to more of this

Ingenue by k.d. lang
Jul 17 2026

There was a row of songs in the middle (6-8) that if the whole album had been like that, it could easily be four stars. Otherwise it was a bit too adult contemporary for me.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Jul 19 2026

The first half is pretty fun, but as a whole it's quite incoherent. 3/5

Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
Jul 20 2026

I like her voice. The whole album is sonically quite dark. Something I would have liked more when I was younger I think

The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
Jul 23 2026

The music is driving, the lyrics are complex and occasionally incomprehensible. A good time!

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Jul 24 2026

There were some interesting things but it did not grab me. Will have to give a relisten

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Jul 25 2026

Metallica had a hurdle to clear what with me not liking metal in general. The music is alright, but all the songs are soooooo long and the singer sings them all exactly the same, ugh. Orion was my favorite as it has no singing, tho that too could cut like 3 minutes.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jul 27 2026

Her voice is pleasant, but the songs do run together, at least towards the end

Talk Talk Talk by The Psychedelic Furs
Jul 30 2026

There was one song I kinda liked, rest was annoying

John Prine by John Prine
Jul 31 2026

Very witty very classic country. Hovering between 3 and 4

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Aug 01 2026

Incredibly tender tunes 3,5/5

Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Aug 02 2026

Born to Run song slaps. I think I need a few relistens to get a grasp of the full album

Live At Leeds by The Who
Aug 03 2026

Not my speed but I can see why it's well liked.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Aug 04 2026

I think if the album was like... Even 5 songs shorter I would have no problem giving it a 4. I think I'm going to go with three because I can't see myself relistening to this

The Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas
Aug 05 2026

There were two songs I liked Dirge and Lever Street. Otherwise quite long and repetitive

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Aug 06 2026

Very different from the usual which is fun

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Aug 08 2026

Samba jazz is pleasant, more chill than the sort of noir-jazz I usually listen to. Can see myself listening to this again as background music, but definitely not my favorite

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Aug 09 2026

CCR is very of its time and influential. Lots of noodling and heavy accents. As a whole, alright with some definite highlights.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Aug 11 2026

Classic for a reason. After this project I can really appreciate a band that can keep mist of their songs less than 5 minutes

1989 by Taylor Swift
Aug 12 2026

Setting aside what I feel about Ms swift as an institution, there's no doubt that she is in a league of her own. There were a couple of songs I adored, notably Style and Wildest Dreams. Some I disliked intensely, Shake it off chief among them. The production is sometimes a bit much, I generally like her folkier stuff.

Garbage by Garbage
Aug 15 2026

Haven't listened to them before, but will return to them. Moody 90's female-led rock. Very good!
