1001 Albums Summary

I remember this was one of Kurt Cobains favorite albums and buying it It early in 1989 and noting it was all over the place in style and really jarring. I was expecting more like the Rembrandt pussyhorse album and was a bit disappointed. But this album cover was a favorite T-shirt of mine.

This album is all over the place in song style and some great songs and some in my opinion some not so great songs.

I’m wishing for a half star voting system. While I don’t think this album deserves a full three I do not think it deserves a full two either. It was actually an interesting if overproduced album that along with Modest Mouse’s similar timeframe album did bring a lot of focus to the genre utilizing social media and clever internet marketing.

While I like this album I believe the later albums from them with lannegan singing are better. Solid album but not the pinnacle.

While this was interesting and enjoyable for it’s influence on lots of performers and artists I wasn’t fully engaged.

I understand why this is on the list and it is a great album but I believe it is slightly overrated.

Interesting style mix and instruments and while at this moment it wasn’t my cup of tea, I can visualize the 1950’s swinging bachelor bringing someone back to their pad, putting this on the hi/fi and showing off the etchings. Not traditional tango, but something different

Songs from This Album started my introduction to the kinks back in the 70s I remember the storytelling sort of songs with the British feel that this album brings. Overall a great album.

This is exactly what you would want to use as a descriptor of “blues”.

This was one of the great albums that brought hip hop to everyone. Still seems to holdup for me.

It’s fine, I like liked their earlier album better back in the day. Not sure why this was included in the list.

Good album but overrated and a bit of band self flagellation

I have trouble separating Kanye the person from the music. While the album is I guess good musically it’s not groundbreaking enough to make me give it anything but a 1

There is just something about this album.

Frantic energy but in a cheeky way that still elicits emotion today but when released I’m sure was groundbreaking.

This is one of those albums where a genre existed but was perfected. Love this one.

While I like this and it had a lot of Dylan’s popular songs. I think I like the earlier albums more.

First Album where Blondie started to come together musically and production quality, while sort of expanding into different music genres

Solid album. Not too standout but good.

Although I’m not the biggest Green Day fan, revisiting the album does remind me that it was a pretty good album. But the radio overplayed songs I can live without.

This is an absolute gem of an album. Willie having Booker T work with him made this album so much richer in style.

Not my absolute favorite Queen albums but ranks up there and you can feel the direction the band was going from this point on.

Wore out this tape when it came out. One of those albums approachable by the hippy crowd and the wavers with a beat that you cannot help to dance to.

This was the album that pretty much brought Run-DMC into the public eye, but what a genre breaking album. Solid must listen to.

I tried to convince myself when I was young that I liked the residents. And although I loved their art (eyeball heads) I truly only liked a couple of their songs.

I don’t really love REM but I do understand why this album is on here and do think the album deserves 4 stars.

While not a huge reggae fan this was worthy
