1001 Albums Summary

Up and down on this one. Some are good fun, but some just take you out. Only 2 really caught my attention with their respective lyrics and style. Rest was meh

Very talented but not really my speed. Felt like I was in an elevator. A relatively funky one, but still

Fun and short. For those of who grew up with crappy stadium pop country, it’s nice to go back to things like this

Clapton is an ass, so I figured I was primed to not enjoy this. However, I was pleasantly surprised and had a good time. Outside of Layla I had never heard any of the other songs

Had a blast. Bopping all morning. Went off to listen to his other stuff. Easy 5 stars.

I’ve been a U2 apologist because I listened to a lot of their stuff growing up. This album was never really one of my favorites, and I think was a sign of things to come (in a bad way).

Felt like I should have had this on while playing Contra or something. Not bad, but not something I would ever return to and did not make me want to explore the genre much further. Maybe some other album will, but this one didn’t hit for me

Have always heard of this band but never really ever listened to their stuff. Enjoyed the ride. I can see why they were so influential

Energetic (obviously) but did not particularly engage me outside of a few moments. As far as live albums, it’s not the best, but certainly far from the worst. Had fun with the cover of “Ain’t That a Shame.” Could never stand “I Want You To Want Me”.

Like listening to a movie soundtrack about alien abductions. Chill ambient music, had it on while working. Must have been very cutting edge in the 70s. Put it on again later in the evening and slipped into a flow state so good shit

Pretty good. Lots of bits reminded me of Spinal Tap’s “Listen to the Flower People” and I couldn’t shake it lol. “Time of the Season” obviously a smash

Started off great then I kind of lost interest

Some truly odd shit going on in this album. Scratches and wails. “Thriller!” could’ve been written for an A24 horror flick and fit right in. Weirdly catchy in parts, despite the chaos

Really fun, always like jazz and rap fusions

What an album. Had heard 3 of the songs before (the obvious ones) but I was stunned by the ones I had not heard before, such as “Planet Caravan” and its softness. “Hand of Doom” just wow I think if I listened to this in 1970 I’d have levitated

“Hello” is obviously titanic and her voice is so special, but this album was just a whole bunch of ‘meh’

Dude sounds hammered in some parts which, you know what? I dig it.

Vibey but ultimately just did not hit for me. Really liked the bass though

The opening drums sounded like a scene transition filler on a Nickelodeon show lol. Was expecting a laugh track. Rest of the album just not my vibe

Never been into Aerosmith. They have some hits that are fine, sometimes good (I always liked the live version of “Dream On”) but this album just wasn’t doing it for me. I don’t think time has been as kind to this particular band as others

A symphony of dying geese and gruff vocals. Must have been a fun recording session. A real Ferris Bueller ‘Never Had One Lesson’ type record

Some nice drum bits. Otherwise, it felt like the like a proto version of ‘music that’s not for me’

Still get chills listening to Baba O’Riley, even after all these years. One of those songs that lifts up the whole album to incredible heights, but there are still plenty of other songs to buoy the rest in its absence

I’m giving this 4 bc it’s varied and interesting. I had it on in the background during work and was caught in a few moments. I suspect if I replay it in a more attentive environment I may kick myself for giving it 5 stars. But my reviews are based only on first listen vibes and personal taste so,

It was OK. A little too overproduced for my taste. Probably just a sign of the current times. If I heard this in the 90s maybe I would be more kind
