Album Summary

Eternally Yours is the second album by Australian punk rock band The Saints, released in 1978. Produced by band members Chris Bailey and Ed Kuepper, the album saw the band pursue a bigger, more R&B-driven sound, augmented by a horn section. The album also saw the introduction of bass guitarist Algy Ward, who replaced the band's previous bass player, Kym Bradshaw in mid-1977.

I have heard some of the Saints’ music but not this particular album. I am looking forward to it. This is a good punk album. The vocals are typical punk, pretty good. There are guitars and horns, pretty interesting. All of the songs are short. It is more than a punk album. They are stretching punk out. The songs have a good beat. You can definitely pogo to it. There is even a harmonica on one song. My only criticism is the songs could use some variety. They kind of sound all the same. This is a good album. Four stars.

Giving these guys credit for sounding like an indie ska band from the late 90s, approximately 25 years too early. I was like “who are these wannabe hipsters?” …until I realize this album was from ‘78.

For a band I'd never heard of, from the fucking year of my birth, I was astonished to hear compelling rock/punk/glam music that kept me engaged. Added 'Lost & Found' and 'No, Your Product' to a playlist and expect with more listens, I could get more into this. High 3, low 4 sitch, and going for a 3 as I'm not sure this would stand up to more scrutiny...or become a little-known favorite.

Legitimately never heard of this or them. Let's have a listen - and based on the date and the artwork, let's hope it's not Glam. This was fun. It wasn't glam. It was punk, of the Australian variety it seems. I probably would have never known this existed without this challenge. I like to hear what other countries did with the popular genres of the moment, so this was interesting. Sure the vocals weren't the best, and it felt more standard rock than punk, and it made the fatal mistaked of having trumpets, but the songs were fun, middle of the road rock.

A real fun discovery. Straight forward, rockish punk with brass elements. favourite: "Know Your Product" 3,5

A very forgettable album. After a long weekend I had to listen to a few tracks to find one that I remembered. Not a bad album just nothing special to make me remember any of it.

Its classic punk with a little bit of ska. 3/5 Favorite Songs: Know Your Product Private Affair No, Your Product A Minor Aversion I'm Misunderstood

Ha! Finally I start out thinking “3, for sure,” and really end up enjoying the album after all! Love the horns. 4 Boolean: True

How good is that? A rare Aussie entry on the list.

Put another shrimp on the barbie.

Having been only exposed to their debut '(I'm) Stranded', I felt sort of underwhelmed by their work, feeling like their ideas did not fully stick. This is not the case with their follow-up record, which I found to be much more dynamic and ultimately ended up being much more interesting than the average punk album on the list. 8/10 [KEEP]

I’d never heard this one but it’s great!

hooray that was fun after about 10000 monotone depression rock albums

I did rather enjoy this. Good energy, the songwriting is decent and more variety than a lot of punk music of the time.

Better than some of the other punk fare we’ve had to date but I take issue with the use of the horns in it. I know this is probably a me issue, but this sounded at times like 90s ska punk and I hate that movement and whole sound associated with it. Surprising that this sounded a lot more modern than it was but, despite the uptempo nature of it and energy it brought, not completely for me.

Was fine , knew some of the songs , probably wouldn’t listen to again

Mostly fun and funky, noisy at times. Liked Product and Run Down.

niet mijn ding

Solid garage rock, a bit samey

I thought this was solid, and seemed ahead of its time.

All of the songs started to sound the same, but at least they were short.

I liked it - time listening to it went by fast.

One of the most unappreciated and underrated bands of all time in my opinion. Even unknown to many. This record highlights everything that is good from this band. It only gets better from here.

Punk with a horn section, interesting. Doesn’t sound like 1978. Quite liked it. ‘This Perfect Day’ the highlight.

Australia's Saints! My uncle gave me his copy of their debut, 'I'm Standed', it was an excellent example of fast furious early Punk Rock. The horns were a novel idea, I thought they worked and were not too in your face. 'Know Your Product' and 'No, Your Product' were the stand out tracks on a very good Punk record. Ed Kueper's guitar work is great and Bailey's vocals were still as snarly as ever. There was even room for a change in speed, with a couple of punky ballads. Great stuff.

It was fine. Yet another punk album.

This one was long…

I went in expecting standard 70s punk thrash and got something with way more swing. These songs move. Spins: 1 Playlist Additions - Know Your Product - Lost and Found - Private Affair - This Perfect Day

Vocals are not great. Band is mid at best.

meh - 2 stars

Eh, it’s an album where people play fast and loud.

really fun punk record

Wow!!! I had never heard of them before today and now I'm enthralled. Reminds me of Echo and the Bunnymen a little bit?? Maybe just the basslines but either way, I really enjoyed this!! This is the reason I love my fiance's band. Like the same vibe? Idk it just reminded me of him the whole time!! Really excellent and I even enjoyed listening to the EXTRA long version of the album.

Ok garage rock/punk. The first song was promising, but after a while I lost a little interest. Favourite: Know Your Product

Fucking oath! Awesome to see some Aussie’s on the list 🇦🇺🤙 this album was sick, sort of like the stooges, which I’ve decided are a new favourite band of mine thanks to this list. I’d previously only heard the song Stranded, which is widely cited by rock bands in Australia as an inspiration for their music. 5 big ones

447/1089 i thought this was a fairly fun punky projects which had some highlights and stayed consistent throughout faves: untitled, lost and found, a minor aversion, no your product 61/100

I enjoyed this. Don’t know that I would remember to listen to it again

A perfect representation of late 1970s punk pop.

I mean fine all around but

Nothing here not to love. Great energy throughout and never got bored. Will listen more.

Well this was a bit off a discovery. Buzzcocks and The Stooges love child from down under. I like it, just maybe not quite enough to purchase. Heard before ❌️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit 🫳 ★★★☆☆(6/10) Total reviewed : 446 Already owned : 99 Purchased : 25 To buy : 1 Nope : 321

Much more melodic than a lot of punk albums from this early era

Just the other day I dinged Kings of Leon for biting older sources just a little too hard on Youth And Young Manhood. Too retro, not at all concerned with carving out new sonic territory... And, today The Saints are here to show that musicians have always been biting and borrowing but the magic is in the synthesis and transformation that occurs when the sources hit the soul. Eternally Yours released in 1978 sounds more contemporary and future-forward than the KoL record cut 25 years later. Not every song is a banger but I'd spin this again over others released then or now. Eternally Yours was aptly titled at the time for an album that's proven to endure.

I hadn't heard this before (barely remember The Saints if I'm honest). I really enjoyed it.

Aw heck yeah. This was pretty fun. I dug the R&B vibes that peeked through.

Another proto sorta punk album right after another is a bit of a surprise. I liked this one a bit better than the other, but only a bit.

It was fine, but didn’t do anything to distinguish itself from the many very similar albums on this list.

꽤 신나고 즐거운 느낌의 앨범이었다. It was a pretty exciting and enjoyable album.

Love this a lot. Reminds me of a more Punky version of the Replacements. Good on Australia for this one. Will Buy this album 4/5

Another one where I had never really paid the artist much attention beyond the singles I had heard.. but this is a brilliant album.. will do some more digging

Прикольная панкуха Чето между нирванной и ред эот чили пепперс

Completely unaware of this band and this album. Reminds me of the Strokes meets the Ramones.

Reminds me of Iggy Pop, Ramones, etc. High energy pop-rock with occasional horns. Fun album but doesn't have any stand-out tracks.

This album has a really good sound to it. It sounds crisp and precise, not lingering on one track for too long. A solid punk album that I found myself jamming to, and will hopefully revisit and see if it grows more on me. Favourites: Know Your Product A Minor Aversion Run Down

SKA!!! But Australian ...

Really worth listening and enjoyed it but not many tracks stood out.

Interesting

Very enjoyable listen to some good old rock n roll edgy punky well written songs well played.

Eh, it sounds like all the other brit punk bands that it obviously influenced, which is a complement and a condemnation in one.

I don't usually like punk that much but this was okay.

Tight sound, straight forward fun punk album. Not sure if it was the remaster, but it sounded really exceptional from a mix perspective.

Real good

I've heard this album 85 times.

Influential on the punk genre and for very good reason, Eternally Yours mixes in elements of soul to create a rather rich sound which immediately gets the feet tapping. The lyrics are biting in their commentary, the vocals are harsh, and there's not a single bad track to be found. As soon as I heard those horns in Know Your Product, I just knew I was in for a fun time. Definitely one for the regular rotation.

I was intrigued and excited by the beginning of this album. A punk album with a brass section! Know Your Product is a great opener and I was looking forward to the rest of the album continuing in a similar vein. It wasn't to be, but Lost And Found, with it's pumping bassline, and the quieter A Minor Aversion were other highlights. The rest of the album didn't quite live up to the opening tracks, but there was still a bit of fun to be had come the ending with International Robots and it's all perfectly listenable. So, let's all be like a robot! 4 stars

It's alright, but not something I'd consider special. It will be lost in the fog of time for me. Standouts - 3/5

du bruit de fond.

Really enjoyed this one! Solid energy, and some interesting sounds. Not perfect, but I did listen to it twice which is something! 4.5, tentatively rounding up.

Wednesday, 16 September, 2026 Entertaining punk rock from Australia. Horn section brings in r and b feel. Solid album.

Some sims are more groove-driven and some are more straight rock, all sounds like alternative radio. I like it.

Don’t really like his voice much so was a relatively hard listen. I think the riffs were alright and the songs themselves were decent. Fav song: know your product

Eh, super whatever

Killer! Had never even heard this record. Great hooky punk!

It’s Aussie and it’s Punky! Automatic 3 stars!

An extra star for being Australian 💕

Unique punk sound. Opened strong, particularly with the horns, then descended into an every-song-sounds-the-same rut. Just held the line (maybe generous). 3.0

I mean it’s fine. Did it really feel any different from other punk albums I’ve heard from this list? Not really.

Very nice rock/punk album. IMO much better than many much less obscure on this list so far (I'm looking at you, Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of Town). Several very cool tracks. I'll definitely listen to it again. Was about to give it a 3 but heh, I really liked this. So I give it a 4/5.

Like the style, not really memorable though, needs another listen

ооо ванючий панк

Overall Rating - 3.27/5 (6.54/10). Decent but forgettable punk.

Does not do anything for me. Didn't get any lyrics or great beats. It looks like it's always the same song.

Couldn’t really get into it. Might need to listen again

Good stuff that I need to listen to some more

Never listened to this, I might have heard the band name. And for some reason the name of Ed Kuepper sounds a bit familiar to me. Punk from Australia. It’s like Ramones but then with horns and a bit more variety, which is a positive thing. Adding blazing horns to a thriving bunch of punk rock guitars is a great addition and quite unique, I think—it's just a shame they are only on a few tracks. I’m not so fond of the singer's voice to be honest, but well yeah, that has never been the most important in punk music. But although it is still kind of raw it also is well crafted.

It's not... for me.

A fair share of absolute bangers, but it's just a bit too inconsistent to be enjoyed in its entirety. I loved the horns everytime they popped up. It's mixed very well, the bass really stands out and gives proper energy to the tracks. Favourite track: No, Your Product

Is the R&B-driven sound in the room with us? Just an unmemorable album.

Punk rock + horns. You wouldn’t think it would work… and you’d be correct.

I liked this. A solid punk album with Ramones vibes. A really good record!

Really good little surprise

A decent early punk album, and in fairness to it one that has a bit more texture to it than others of its type from this era. We get a more produced quality, and a broader range of instruments that at least gives this a bit of a point of difference. I enjoyed the sound enough for it to sneak a 3, but it was samey enough for it to outstay its welcome a bit by the end.

One of the stronger releases of the late 1970s punk scene. I’m sure they upset plenty of punk purists with the inclusion of horns on the opening track, but it does its job very effectively and adds an extra dimension to the band’s critique of consumer capitalism. The rest of the first half is just as good, blending punk ferocity with a real understanding of melody. On the basis of this half I would tempted to give it a 5 but the second half is less memorable, save for ‘This Perfect Day’ ‘(I’m) Misunderstood’ and the return of those controversial horns on ‘Orstralia’. Overall, it’s good enough for a strong 4.
