1001 Albums Summary

First one! German! lots of horns so far, which I like. Very theatrical in a way. A little repetitive which I don't love. Almost sounds like there's an organ?! Being in an another language isn't my favorite and I'm not a huge fan of the singers voice, it's almost comedic in a way? Still loving the horns. The singer sounds like Animal from the muppets to me. Getting sick of it by the 3rd or 4th song. It sounds like a soundtrack from a weird 80s muppet ride or something. I can't imagine sitting down and actually listening to this unironically. It needs visuals or something. It's somehow a bit boring and yet grating at the same time. Not a fan. I do like the horns and the almost march feel to a lot of the songs. I think without the singing I'd like it a lot more.

This will be my first time ever listening to a complete Rolling Stones album lol. Nick would be proud. I have heard more of these songs than I expected to. Dear doctor is so funny and a little theatrical! I love the country twang to all of this, doesn't really sound how I expected the rolling stones to sound. But I guess I don't really know what I expected either. I like this! More with each song! I don't LOVE his voice but it fits the songs very well. The first half is much better than the second in my opinion but not terrible. I enjoyed it but I'm ready to hear something else.

Soul music!!! I've definitely heard Otis Redding before (because I mean who hasn't lol) but I've never done a deep dive. I love horns in music though and I love a stellar voice and so far this album has both. I do love soul music. I am listening to the original album btw not the 2 hour and 40 min collector's edition. Omg the original Respect!! I've never heard this, only the cover! A change is gonna come is SUCH a good song. I'm loving this.

Very fun, some awesome bops in here that I already knew and loved. The rest of the album is hit or miss, I enjoyed it, but not as much as I love the few stand out songs. The talking is interesting but gets repetitive and boring near the middle and by the end I just wanted it to be over :/ it's not that it was bad at all but I don't think I'd go out of my way to listen to the full album again. Not one that I'd want on vinyl.

Okay this does feel like I’m on a beach! Very good but still feels easy, low stress. Great album for a travel day. Really matches the album cover art too. So far really liking it. Seems like something I’d listen to in one sitting and enjoy but nothing was a super standout

Okay sort of annoyingly, this is isn't on Spotify at all! Like some of the individual songs are but not the full album. Luckily I found it on youtube. Very funky! I enjoy a lot, makes me want to dance. The backing vocals are stellar. Very vibey and all the songs, though distinct, flow nicely to one another. It's actually putting me in a better mood as I listen! I would buy a vinyl of this. The guitar is SO good in this. I love this lol I feel like Funk really touches my soul.

This starts in pure cacophony. I actually thought I was accidentally playing it on 2x speed. I am NOT liking this so far. It is painful to listen to. When will it end. I don't think I can make it through 41 minutes of this. Sounds like 4 albums are playing at once and my dog is playing with a squeaky toy during it. I keep thinking it's going to change to actual music at some point but it's not. This is torturous. Truly ear splittingly awful. I typically love jazz and this is making me hate the whole genre. The best parts are the parts when each song ends. It's stressing out my dog! I feel like if someone enjoys this, they're the worst kind of pretentious. yes I understand that it's probably musically impressive to accomplish but that doesn't make it GOOD. It gets SLIGHTLY better in the middle but not by enough. Sounds like geese being massacred. Or a middle school band of bees on cocaine. If I was Ornette Coleman, I'd be truly upset by this. Sounds like a circus caught on fire. If this isn't in the bottom 10, I'll be amazed. Hopefully I can give it no stars, but if I have to give it one, it will be because it made me appreciate any other music more. I'm not even half-way through it. I desperately hope my neighbors can't hear this through the floor, because if I were them I'd call in a noise complaint to the cops. But I also can't bear to wear headphones while listening to this.

Though I'm very aware of Brian Wilson (my dad used to tell me we were related to the Beach Boys and I got really into learning everything I could about them) I've actually never heard any of his solo work. He passed away today so this is a fitting listen for the day. This does sound a lot like the early Beach Boys sound. Which I've always had a soft spot for the Beach Boys. I love the lightness of the sound mixed with the complexity of the composition. Still, this album feels nostalgic to a time I never experienced. I love how whimsical it is while still feeling very serious. It's so interesting to listen to! But not heavy or stodgy. The perfect blend. All the songs flow really well together too.

OK! So I've never listened to more than the one oasis song lol. But I feel like I wasn't expecting such upbeat rock. I know that a lot of people LOVE Oasis. It's very stoner rock-ish. I don't really mind it, but I don't know if I like it per say. It's sorta boring me lol, all washing into one. Jk! It really picked up in the middle! Okay so this one is fine. I wouldn't be opposed to someone else listening to it, but I would never listen to it on my own. It's not bad, just not to my taste. I liked the slower songs on the album, so that seems to be my preferred Oasis vibe apparently.

I've never even heard of Joan Armatrading before!!! So this is totally new to me, which I'm so excited about. It looks like she's still making music too which is awesome. Very singer songwriter, which is to my taste. I'm not obsessed with her voice per say but I like it enough so far! It's folky with a nice guitar sound. I understand why Love and Affection is her most famous song. It's a standout from the album for sure. It's giving me 90s movie energy. I like it a lot, I even added it to my monthly playlist. Reminds me of music my dad would listen to in the car when I was growing up. 70s folk vibes for sure. But then also mixed with Fiona Apple almost??? or Melissa Etheridge??? I would enjoy it if my Dad was playing it or if Nick or a friend was but I don't think I would ever go out of my way to listen to it on my own. Definitely wasn't life changing but I enjoyed it. I wish I could do half scores because it's not quite a 4 but it's also not really a 3. So I think I'll rate it a 3 but with the knowledge it's more of a 3.5 It's not bad by any means, it just doesn't stand out too much to me.

Jazz!! I love jazz, especially sultry slinky jazz. So I'm excited about this one. I think this will put me in a good mood. I think if I heard this in 1962, it would change my brain chemistry. Each song is almost 5 mins on average. That's awesome. This makes me want to be on vacation. I very much enjoyed this, but it's not revolutionary, it's just really good jazz. To me this is a 4.5 but again, that makes it a 4. This is making me listen to more jazz today though. It's just so good.

I know probably 2 RHCP songs. I've heard of this album though! So I'm excited to hear it. I feel like the RHCP songs I've heard I've liked? But not enough to ever look into them obviously. A lot more pop than I expected? Like not as hardcore as I was thinking it would be. His voice is not my favorite but it's very late 90s/early 2000s. That Hootie/Dave Matthews sound lol. This is like... marketable grunge lmao. I like it though! It's not revolutionary for me but I'm not disliking it. It's gotten easier for me to rate things as I listen. I'm still waiting til the album is over to give my official rating of course but I usually know by the third or fourth song. I liked the slower songs surprisingly! I like dirt was silly lmao. This is a long album though!

I've never gotten into Ambient music before but I have heard of Brian Eno. I don't really know what to expect. I do like the idea of it being music for Airports though. Only 4 songs but it's 48 minutes long lol. I can see why this is on the list, because it came out in 1978! Which feels really early for what this is! Like I would have expected the 2000s. Very cool. Very peaceful to listen to. I feel like I should be meditating. There's a lot of silence at the end of each track which is interesting! I have no doubt that this is well made and good but it also sounds like when I was a kid playing around on an electric piano with the different noises. I think for the time it was revolutionary but now the technology is so prolific that it's something that is much more easily or accessibly made. It's good but too long lol. It's definitely ambient, but it's not just noise.

I love old school hip hop, always have and always will. and this one is GOOD. I love the style of the 80's hip hop. You can hear the funk influences. I can tell that this was the blueprint. It's so good! Very political, which I like, it's what rap was intended for. To make a statement! Only thing is that sometimes the beats can be PIERCING. like very uncomfortable to listen to. Especially in Rebel without a Pause.

Are you kidding me? I'm so excited that I got this album. One of the only albums so far that I've listened to before (if not the only one) it's so good. I will listen to all of it before rating of course but I'm optimistic that this will be a high rating. His voice is so iconic and so haunting. It's rock, it's soulful, it defies genres at times. And it's his DEBUT. Like come ON. This debut is up there with Lorde lol. I just love this album and it is one that I think everyone should listen to. I know everyone has heard Hallelujah but like... the REST! The melodies, the drama but yet the simplicity of just instruments and his voice. The way this album makes me feel like I'm in a movie is unmatched. It's just so good. More of this please and thank you. Lover, You Should Come Over is probably a top 10 song for me. It's almost in two separate acts with the start of Eternal Life. Every song sounds so good together but also all of them are stunning stand alone songs. It's just powerful! love love love

I know of Joni Mitchell but I've never heard this album. I feel like I'll appreciate this more now than I would have a few years ago. I think learning more about her as a person and as an artist has given me more appreciation. I think that's true for all artists but specifically for powerful forces in music that are women. Her songwriting is inspiring. She sounds so free, you can really hear her feelings through her voice. Perfect then that in the first song she says "I want to make you feel free." You did it Joni, I totally feel free. I am a sucker for piano over guitar so I'm loving the piano ballads. They have this effervescence that lends to the alt feeling of her music. It's so interesting because she's not really doing much different from a lot of the folk singer songwriters but yet they feel so different! I wish I had the words to explain that phenomena, I'm sure many people have explained it before. they describe her as a folk singer with a poet's spirit and that's such an apt description. These songs really have a melancholy feel to them but not in a way that brings you down, in a way that feels poignant. I'm really enjoying this. I want to listen to her music more, if I was to write songs, I would want them to feel how hers feel. There's not really hooks or choruses and I love that. Because sometimes that can feel contrived. All this has shown me is that I love singer-songwriter. Which I knew of course but wow am I confirmed on that. Folk sure yes but mostly singer-songwriter regardless of the genre.

Another late 60s early 70s band that I am aware of but that I've not listened to enough of. I feel like it's not revolutionary at all, sounds similar to a lot of the other bands from this era and genre. But I'm enjoying it! I will say, I think 30 minutes is the perfect amount of time for an album. His voice is kinda boring, I'm a little bit meh about it.

I love the talking heads but I've never heard this album. That's been a theme this week it seems! They're just so fun and the melodies, the layers, the voice. This is not my favorite of the Talking Heads but I do still love them. So it's like having your third favorite ice cream flavor. It's still ice cream. I love the bass lines and the drums. It's so interesting to listen to.

Finally someone I've never heard of before again! Very weird and funky tunes happening. I thought it was all instrumental and then the WEIRDEST vocals started. I don't hate it though!!! It's very interesting. Why am I really digging this lol. It's almost surf rock-ish? Almost reminiscent of the B-52s or Talking Heads. The singers voice reminds me of Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah almost. It was good! Better than I expected it to be. I would love if they were a small local band, I feel like they'd be my favorite local band but I don't think their style is my taste overall. Still, Magazine exceeded expectations. The fact that this came out in 2007 and yet retains the sounds of late 1970s and early 1980s is impressive. Good for them for finding what theyre good at and what works and sticking to it.

WILCO! omfg this is so funny, Nick LOVES Wilco and I know he's talked about this exact album before but I couldn't tell you which of these songs I've heard. JK I've DEFINITELY heard California Stars lol. It'll be really interesting to rate this one because it's not my usual taste in music but it reminds me of Nick so that makes me love it more. It's not bad at all, it's actually very good. Especially the melodies, they're so catchy. And I am partial to country so this has more than enough twang for me. I loveeee Natalie Merchant's voice. These are like traditional folk songs!! Nick has never played me the songs that I feel like I'm loving the most. I can't believe that this came out in 1998. It's a very very good album but I don't think it's a 5 for me personally. I love it for other reasons besides just what it sounds like.

Okay I was NOT expecting it to be like.... bluesy??? I feel like I just imagine Bruce Springsteen in my head being like..... pop? But it's obviously not. This was 1975?! I can see why people are obsessed with him lol. He was definitely way before my time and I think I see him as kind of dated in general. But I've only heard his really famous and popular songs and definitely none from this album! So it's interesting to actually hear what made him popular. This was his third studio album!!! Third! Born in the USA was his 7th?! That's crazy I didn't know his discography was like that! I think he got really really famous for his more pop sounding music, like I've heard the title track from this album before. But I really just enjoy the more blues sounding songs from him! I think it suits his voice much better. So far Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out is my favorite. I think sometimes his voice sounds like he's yawning lol. He ends with an 8.5 min song? BRUCE. That's insane!!!! I liked it, wasn't anything that was mind-bending. I felt like I could honestly tune it out, like I was at a bar or something. It's still good though!! I liked it.

Okay! So Nick actually had this album on vinyl and he hadn’t listened to it yet!!! So we listened to it over our speakers and it was actually so good. I really enjoy the layers, I really like the funky 70s vibes. And though it was different, it was still very good. I’m happy I have it on vinyl! And I feel like it’s going to be one I reach for again!

I love this. It’s a perfect relaxing Sunday morning vibe. It’s so beautiful, her voice, the piano, the saxophone tone is otherworldly. It’s just gorgeous and I loved listening to it. I think I’ve actually heard this entire album before! I at least have listened to the girl from ipanema because I mean who hasn’t. But it’s silky and smooth. The perfect late night or early morning album.

I can’t believe I got another Springsteen album in the same week lmao. But this one might slightly edge out the last one for me! It’s less cheesy for some reason. The guitar sounds better, I can feel the emotions more. I like the songwriting even if I still don’t love his voice. He’s so free, I feel like he’s so produced now but in this album he just feels like so much more of the rockstar that older generations see him as. Which I understand so much more now! THIS Springsteen I could see calling The Boss. It’s still not exactly my cup of tea but I respect it. Something that really helped me enjoy Springsteen more is to read the lyrics while I listen. I’ve been told that what makes him so great is his songwriting ability but he doesn’t enunciate enough for me to appreciate any of it!!! So if I read the lyrics I get a lot more out of each song. And oh my god yeah he’s actually saying really beautiful things in all that noise!! I want to like Springsteen more than I actually do and that’s okay. He’s just not for me even if I can understand why other people really enjoy his music.

This was the perfect album to go for a summer walk and listen to. It’s relaxing but not boring. It doesn’t force emotion on you but instead gives you the ability to feel however you need to feel. It’s not overwhelmingly happy but you don’t feel sad either. It’s the perfect “easy listening” music. I loved it so much more than I thought it would. I think I just like late 60s, early 70s folk blues rock fusion. And this is exactly that. I can hear a Celtic influence too which is nostalgic for me. I wanted to keep listening after it was over. The songs flow nicely into one another without blending together. A real surprise for me. I’d 100% listen to this again and enjoy it. Am I….. a Van Morrison fan now????

Another one that was almost impossible to find! It's way funkier than I expected it to be, I expected more early bossa nova vibes. I like her voice though. There's a lot of fun in this. Just makes me want to dance in a flirty little dress. Seems like the perfect soundtrack for a summer date night. Very tropical vacation vibes. You don't even need to understand what I assume is Portuguese to enjoy because the melodies and rhythms with her voice are just so infectious. There's so much swing and she blends so perfectly with the band, it's interesting because of her control. She sings with such emotion that you can almost guess what she's singing about. Wow I'm really enjoying this. I wish it WAS on Spotify. Its very good, but the first half is amazing while the second half is just really good. So 4 stars!

I love David Bowie, but I've actually never heard this whole album which is very on brand for me. It's a short one! I already know and love Golden Years, love that song. I don't know if the others stand out too much to me. I think there's definitely better from Bowie, but again. I'm such a sucker for his music, even the weird in between phases. I know this was around when he was coked out lol and there's definitely has a quick pulse to the whole album. I still love Bowie, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this album over other ones.

Carpenters always make me feel wistful in a happy way. Their voices are so... powerful to me and my emotions. I don't know what it is but they've always affected me so much. This album is like homemade pie. There's the whipped cream, it's light and fluffy and cool and sweet. But then underneath that, there's a warm center and flaky edges. It's the perfect combination and it's never a bad time for it. I wish I could make everyone experience it the way that I do. I know it's truly magic to my ears. My mom loves the carpenters too, I think she must have played it for me in utero or something because it's always been this way for me. The harmonies, the accents of horns and piano without it being overbearing. Karen Carpenter's voice. It's all perfect. She died much too young and it's always haunted me in the same way her voice does. I wish they could've made music even longer. I don't even need to finish this album to know I'm going to rate it 5 stars. I want this on vinyl, I want to slow dance to it in the kitchen. I want to hear it when I wake up in the morning. This album makes me feel like everything might be okay in the world.

I like the voice and vibe of REM. Reminds me of one of my faves (They Might Be Giants) it's just that fun, nerd punk kinda vibe. I like a lot. I've loved Automatic for the people, so I'm expecting good things from this album. People who don't enjoy REM I think just have no whimsy. All this has shown me is that I like things that are interesting and REM is definitely that. I think I might like Automatic for the people better BUT I still really like this one.

Over an hour and 15 mins..... yeah we'll see if that's worth it for me. OMFG it's ELECTRONICA. I was NOT expecting that. I was expecting like... metal or like.... post punk or something. not the sounds of the camp from Tarzan. This is definitely not my cup of tea lmao. It all just sounds like the soundtrack from a cheesy action movie to me. I enjoy it a lot more when there's singing. All the songs are just soooo long though. 8 mins of the same thing over and over will never be my choice. I can't imagine anyone sitting down to listen to this unironically. I feel like I'm in a fast and furious film or like I should be finding my target in a dark Berlin club or like I'm hacking into the mainframe right now. It's definitely good for what it is, I just don't think I like what it is.

Wow I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I like the 80s voice with the gothic melodies and the punky rhythms. There were some major standouts and I think I would actually listen to it again! I think this is the most surprised I've been so far. I guess I'm into 1980s goth rock y'all. Who would've thought. I want to be in a dark club dancing to this. Crazy!

As a self-proclaimed 80s lover, I'm excited to get an 80s classic. I've, of course, already heard Shout and Everybody Wants to Rule the World. The latter being one of my personal favorites. But I don't think I've heard any of the others. I love an 80s synth pop / new wave influence. It's definitely a pop album, don't get it twisted. But I love pop. Pop is my jam and I'm not ashamed of that. This is a great example of a pop album that can be for people that don't like pop. It's silky, spunky, real, detailed, and absolutely glorious. There's the hallmarks of a great 80s album, drum fills, slutty saxophone, synth upbeats, drama filled singing. But the best part about this album is that none of them feel overdone. There's a perfect balance of not too much and just enough. It feels authentically 80s without being cheesy in today's world. It feels fresh, it feels like I'm watching a John Hughes movie for the very first time again. I would listen to this on vinyl and wistfully smile the whole time.

Funk! I love funk! Such a vibey album. I don't like instrumental funk as much as lyric based funk, but this is still such a work of art. Really long, vibey songs that don't ever get monotonous.

Omg early punk rock!!!! This reminds me so so much of Rocky Horror Picture Show! It's campy, the singing is so good. It's fun and hardcore wow. It sounds like the best parts of going to a local house show. Very fun and very well done, but with a certain freedom in the style. It's awesome. Wish I could see them at a small local venue, not knowing anything about them prior. So badass, I love seeing where punk came from. This is truly an album that was before it's time.

This is one of those albums where I'm sitting here thinking "How have I never heard this?" It's luxurious and decadent, truly GLAM ROCK at it's best. I like it a lot! It's very sexy and vibey and it IS the drama. It's got a certain ego to it, like the album itself knows that it can never be too much. Very very fun. The songs themselves go on a little too long for my liking but otherwise it's an interesting listen that I'm glad I was introduced to!

This is the best of what I consider teen movie music of the late 90s and early 2000s. It's such a specific nostalgia for me. Another one that I'm shocked I've never heard, this is RIGHT up my alley. It's exactly what I imagine hearing when I see Bratz dolls. It's very angsty lmao. I feel almost too old to be listening to it, though I do find it very well done. If I was 15 hearing this for the first time I would have lost my mind. This is like.... everything girls wanted to be in the late 90s and aughts. It's the grungy, rock and roll, cool girl vibe. Sleaze before sleaze existed. It's got a great rhythm to all the songs with the apathetic and raspy singing. So cool. I can tell that this influenced an entire generation of girl bands. Which is why it sounds so familiar to me even though it came out way before anything it reminds me of. It's reminding me of Lindsey Lohan's album Rumors. It's also reminding me of her band in Freaky Friday. Take that what you will lmao. If I had heard this when I was younger, I would probably LOVE it for the nostalgia but I don't have that and so it's just good to me. I did add Milk to my monthly playlist though so that's a good find!

I love the fun and almost hip hop influence of this. I can't believe this came out in the late 80s, it sounds so much more modern than that. Really hard to not bop my head along to these songs. I'm enjoying this one a lot, the bass lines are just scrumptious. It's SKA! Like.... actually. That was not apparent by the first song but WOW it really hits you in the face by the second one. I always like to read a little bit about the artists if I've never heard of them and I was shocked when I saw that they don't have a ton of monthly listeners, but it makes sense for the genre. I'm so curious to see what the vibe continues to be as this album progresses. Okay for sure Ska. It's got so much fun and I loveee a great horn section. Wait no, now it's like traditional funk? So cool, it's truly an album where I can see how Ska developed and this feels like a perfect transition between funk and ska. So so cool. All the songs are very different but still feel cohesive, definitely not boring at all. Reggae, funk, soul, ska. This is all of those and yet it's own. Bonin' in the boneyard is crazy omg I love it so much. This was a surprising win for me, I really think I'll share this with people I know.

okay so I instantly recognized this album for one reason and one reason only: Paper Planes. I had absolutely no idea what to expect for the rest of the album! I was blown away. It's such a global album, so many influences from all over, such a cool concept and I've never heard anything else like it. It's fun but still very real and the lyrics are impactful. Every song has this infectious beat but is still so distinct from one another. It's so good!!! I am pleasantly surprised.

Okay I was expecting more... funk lol and the whole album to be a lot harder considering it's called Maggot Brain. It's good still, just not the intensity I was expecting going in. I love the variety of sounds in this, the tings and warbles and cuckoo clocks. It's so fun. I will say, I can tell that this is sonically very good, and it's extremely interesting. I'm just not loving it as much as I thought I would. Especially because I'm such a huge fan of funk in general. Lots of jarring add on sounds like women screaming and cats yowling. It's definitely theatrical but it's taking me out of the music so I'm not loving it. I don't know, it feels more like an assignment than music I'd want to listen to. Just not my speed unfortunately.

Very excited for this one, as I'm seeing LCD Soundsystem in August. I love LCD's ability to evoke a time WAY before their own in a way that feels truly authentic and not just nostalgic or repetitive. They aren't emulating the sound from that era, they ARE the sound. It's just great old school electronica vibes. Every song has an addictive quality that really makes me feel like I should be dancing already. I've heard a lot of these songs individually and love them, I just haven't heard them all in order! There's just such a great energy to all of the songs without it feeling overdone. I don't usually like long songs but somehow LCD Soundsystem is addictive enough that I never want them to end. I love how the entire album builds to New York I love you but you're bringing me down. It's the pinnacle of scathing commentary and it's so dang good. It's a complete subversion from where you expect the album to end. So good!

This is a good but not great album from Neil young. Easy to listen to, but there’s better. Specifically this is a great example of the “mellow country-rock” he was known for. I liked it but I didn’t love it. I would listen again but I don’t think anything about it was memorable enough for me to be able to recall it when thinking of things to listen to. It’s a good background sound, and I loved cowgirl in the sand more than the previous songs. Generally a good album but that’s all!

A fun Brazilian (?) album. Kinda bossa nova kinda psychedelic, very good. I really enjoyed a lot of this but I didn't love his voice. I feel like that's what can make or break albums for me as discovered by doing this everyday. I didn't care if I finished the album but I didn't dislike any of the songs. Another solid 3 for me.

If I heard this in 1989 it would have radicalized me. I loveeee hip hop and old school hip hop specifically. It’s fun, it’s whip smart, it’s funky, it talks about serious issues without bumming you out. I was smiling the entire time I listened to it. I’ve been told so many times that I would love de la soul but WOW I didn’t expect to love then this much. It’s just so fun. I’d watch this as a full movie. I’d love to have this on vinyl! It makes me want to walk around outside in a big city in the summer. The perfect album for that.

This is fine! It is not bad but I feel like the Doors have released much much better. Really good guitar riffs, but most bled together for me. It's good, but I expect more from a band that's as highly rated as the Doors. I don't know, it left more to be desired. It's standard bluesy rock for me.

Here's the thing. I'm a sucker for a few things. Some of those include: piano riffs, amazing storytelling, upbeat catchy tunes, interesting singing flair. And guess what? This album has all these and more. It's the best of pop, it's some of the best of Billy Joel. I have a sweet spot for my man Billy. I truly don't understand the disdain he receives. It's pop people!!! Stop expecting it to be anything anything but that! You could MAYBE make an argument for soft rock or pop rock, but that's about it. I love the way he adds ambiance to his songs to really sell the stories, they feel nostalgic and immersive and they're just feel good songs that have been through the tests of time and held strong! I don't think Billy Joel has to be anyone's favorite artist but everyone has a soft spot for at least one of his songs. And the Stranger has many of the songs that people love. It's a great album and I stand by that.

So this is the first Black Sabbath album I've ever listened to. And I've been told that this is not a good one to start with apparently haha. But I'm honestly enjoying it a lot! I didn't realize this was the album with Changes on it, which is probably one of 2 black sabbath songs I can name (the other being War Pigs lol) I'm learning that my perception of Black Sabbath was very off from what they actually are. They're not metal really, they have a lot of variance in their songs and the topics. Really beautiful song writing. And Ozzy Osbourne (may he RIP) has such a beautiful voice! Actually making me nod my head, even at the office! Just such a force behind the guitar, the drums, everything. It's rock at it's purest and I love it. This is my preference when it comes to rock music. I want a little grit, some interest, a drive that leads somewhere. Even the guitar tone is just scrumptious. I love the breaths that this album gives with acoustic slower songs that are no less interesting than the hard and fast songs. It's so lovely. Really takes you on a journey and makes the album worth listening to as a complete album. I think I would love this on vinyl. Dang! Okay Black Sabbath, really surprising me here! It's almost a 5 but I think I'll keep it at a 4. Really makes me want to check out the other albums from Black Sabbath!!!

I love Bowie's venture into Soul. It's such a marvelous album but it's not my favorite from him. I feel like it's so great mainly because it's Bowie and this album includes a few of his most well-known singles. I think this is a such an interesting departure from his previous sound, but it feels more like a transition album. I will always love Bowie, but this is a 4 instead of a 5 for me. There's just better Bowie albums out there! Though if you love Soul and you love Bowie, this album is a marvelous juncture of the two. The popular singles from this album are the stand outs and the rest of the songs can drag through the middle. The beginning with Young Americans and then the end with Fame and Across the Universe? Okay Bowie!!! I see you!!!!

I do like reggae, it’s silky, it has a funk, it’s catchy. Listening to the deluxe album did nothing for me, it was too long that way (an hour and twenty minutes!) This album is meant to be listened to outside in warm weather, even better on a beach. Unfortunately, I’m listening to this at night inside, so it doesn’t have the same panache. I do really love how much the background singers feature and harmonize. The songs can get a little repetitive and blend into one another, but again, the deluxe version can be blamed for that. I’m not enthralled but I also didn’t mind listening to it at all. I could see this being a 5 star album for many people. It doesn’t connect with me personally, doesn’t make me dance in my seat, but doesn’t make me cringe. A solid album. I definitely prefer the Jamaica versions better than the original versions. They’re just so much more interesting and complex. The non-Jamaican versions are watered down.

I’ve never heard Amy’s debut album. I loveeeeee her voice. I love the jazz influence on everything. She’s so distinctive. You could play any song of hers and almost anyone could tell you it’s her. I love how brash her lyrics are. They’re so straightforward and funny and honest. I also love her having two songs after the outro. I feel like I know her through her songs. She’s right there with me. The trumpet and the sultry beats with the intoxicating bass. All these blend and are the perfect complement to her voice. This album is the perfect blend of 2000s sexy club vibes and 1950s jazz classics. Especially with the songs mostly being 2 in 1 and all the ambiance noise. The slight sound of people chatting or glasses moving. The sound of the night sky with crickets. The sound of a record playing in the background. It’s all so immersive. When she sings I’m instantly transported to a smoky, swanky hole in the wall night club. And she’s as captivating as you imagine.

Jokes on you 1001albumgenerator, not only have I heard this album in full before but it’s one of my very favorites. I became obsessed with the song sawdust and diamonds around 2018 and when I tell you I played it every single day I truly mean it. Joanna has no music on Spotify so I turned to my trusty YouTube album that I have bookmarked and favorited. It’s such a gorgeous album. Her haunting voice plus her prose like lyrics, means that I love this album in the same way I love albums by Joni Mitchell and Regina Spektor. If you love medieval music (because I listen to bardcore more often than I’d probably admit) you will absolutely adore this album. The fact that she’s playing the harp makes her singularly a bard or a fairy or an elf or some combination of the three. This album makes me feel like I’m being awoken from an ancient time. There’s so much that shouldn’t work but it does or that could become cheesy but it doesn’t! It’s perfect and glorious and I love it. Thanks for giving me another reason to listen to a favorite today :)

It’s good! The type of 60s music I love. Silly and catchy and fun. Reminds me a lot of Stgt pepper from the Beatles. I like the kinks, they have the whimsy that I crave. A fun album that goes by quickly. I wanted to keep listening by the time it was through.

I’d never heard of Mylo before listening to this album and I can promise you this was not what I was expecting. Especially with a name like Destroy Rock & Roll. I expected metal, I got what I assume is the earliest version of lo -fi. It’s not bad, some of it gets repetitive however and I don’t particularly love non-lyrical music as much as the opposite. I really didn’t enjoy muscle cars, I found myself liking it less and less as the album went on. It couldn’t keep my interest and I was waning on wanting to listen to elevated elevator music. It reminds me of music an electrical company would play while they have you on hold. This is supposedly a dance album and I would hate dancing to any of these. They’re so repetitive and honestly annoying. The vocal samples are overused to a nauseating degree. Daft punk lite. The last couple songs were BETTER but I’m still not a major fan!

I love EW&F!!!!! And this is such a great album of theirs! It's so fun, it's so interesting, they work so well together. By this album, they were already a well-oiled machine. Love love.

This is so cool. Bluesy punk!! Very much full of abandon and passion and yet not unclean in the ways that matter. This is another band that I could see myself watching at a DIY venue and saying it was the best show of my life. I really like the slower songs too, just the right blend of blues and punk. I can't believe this came out in 1981, it sounds SO much more recent. So cool. Even the album cover looks Modern. I would have a vinyl of this and feel very cool for doing so. It's just that, a really really cool album.

I still love ABBA. I want to make that clear. But this is just an okay album in comparison to a lot of their bigger releases. There are some hits on here for sure but otherwise a lot of the songs feel self-indulgent. They’re softer and less danceable than a lot of the uber well known tracks. I think ABBA is a band that has more hidden gems than people realize, that being said, I also believe that the most popular songs are that popular for a reason. ABBA is a pop band after all. Some of the tracks were blatantly cheesy, with phone rings and ticking clocks and cloying lyrics. Some of the songs felt like they dragged on. Some of the lyrics felt like the worst parts of a time long gone. And yet I didn’t dislike my listening experience. I also didn’t feel anything more than general enjoyment. This album is the best example of trying too hard. And yet the visitors still gets a three solely because Head over Heels and Cassandra are criminally underrated and bring me immense joy. Plus I really do love ABBA, even at their worst.

I quality this as psych folk, and a masterclass in the genre. I love the album art, bringing back art nouveau. There are some well known standouts, like the title track and Season of the Witch. His voice feels like a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese. It's so warm and smooth. And I love the addition of orchestral instruments on most of the songs! Like yes! Give me oboe!! Give me harp! Imagine being 19 and literally changing music history. I love the lyrics, perfectly balanced stories that still have catchy hooks and interesting wordplay. This album is like what I imagine a traveling bard would write in an idealistic fantasy world. This album draws from so many different genres and time periods. There's eastern melodies and instruments, there's songs that sound like renaissance music, there's songs that sound like folk music, songs about the legends of Arthur. It's all perfectly blended together into one cohesive album.

Aretha!!!! My lady!!! The best voice in the game. This album makes you want to get up and sway or clap or dance. Some songs I just close my eyes and smile and rock back and forth. Some songs I put my arms in the air and jump around. That's the range of Aretha. This album is just so good all the way through, the horns, the strings, the gospel backing vocals, Aretha herself. There's a reason she's known as the best of the best.

It's fine! I get that it's like the Ramones or whatever but oh my god every single song sounds the same! The singing is very frog like which I don't love. They're all upbeat but it sounds like 30 mins of the same song over and over. I really can understand where the song length comes from, they were a club band, performing for 20 mins of straight sound! It kept the crowd engaged! But I'm not a teen in NYC in the 70s at a club show. I'm a grown woman in 2025 in my dining room. Seeing them live, seeing them at the time they were revolutionary, and listening to this album now are different things. I just don't think it's held up the way other albums have. The first song is good and really well known and that's cool. But like... otherwise? I truly don't get the hype for this album. I really think everyone just knows that the Ramones are "cool" so they like this album because they think it's cool. Which like... was this historic for the time? Sure!!! And that's super great. But the first pancake isn't always the best pancake and that's okay.

Yeah she's just.... a magical creature. Her music, her voice, it's all so unique. It's all such an experience. It's so good. I have to be in the Bjork mood though. Otherwise this is perfection. I will say, some of her more dramatic songs can get... intense. They can be a lot to handle. Definitely a private listening experience preferred. I feel powerful listening to this album. It's so full, of emotion, of complexity, of newness.

Ah, never heard of the Incredible String Band before, but I can tell you that they're part of the flower power, psych folk, hippie music era. It's... a lot :) I typically like any folk and this is... hard for me. I don't know what it is about this album, I feel like it has lots of elements that I usually love but I'm just not into it at all! Okay, I started listening to the album with both headphones and it helped IMMENSELY. This is one that you need both headphones to hear all the layers. I still don't love it. I think it just feels like a bad church band or something. Like a parody band almost? I don't know, it gives the sensation of being stuck in a basement somewhere where a family band just won't. stop. performing. It gives fundamentalist Christian vibes to me. But like.... it's doing things to me???? I can't help but enjoy the rollercoaster of going from hating a song to loving it over and over. I have a sneaking suspicion that Psychedelic music is not supposed to make you comfortable. It's supposed to push and pull. This album truly does give the sensation of being on drugs hahaha. You have to let go, you have to let the album happen and accept it with open arms otherwise you'll have a bad trip. A 13 minute song in the middle of the album??? Sure. Out of tune violin? Totally. A freaking kazoo. Give it to me. I don't even think you have to be snobby to like this, you just have to be open to an experience, much like a variety show instead of the polished albums we experience today. Does this mean I'm enjoying it? No? I don't think so at least??? But it has grown on me the way a wool sweater stops being less itchy as you wear it. This album makes me more brave in creating music myself. Incredible is the best possible word they could have picked for their name. We take it to mean fantastic or amazing but it actually means impossible to believe. And that's exactly how they make me feel. But I feel more free listening to them than I did before! You know one man bands? Or court bards? Or children's puppets shows? Yes. Exactly. You understand then. I am changed by listening to this.

How have I never heard an Iggy Pop song before this moment? This was SO good. Just banger after banger after banger. I understand the obsession! I now love him, he stared into my soul through the album cover the whole time and completely entranced me.

I love the 80s but I’m not the biggest fan of George Michael. I was going to give it a 2 but Father Figure and Kissing a Fool brought it up to a 3 for me. Otherwise it’s just a lot of cheesy 80s music with really cringey lyrics.

I like this. It's silly goose music. and I am certainly a silly goose. So many good layered sounds and melodies and interesting pieces! I greatly prefer when the words come in, but this album is SO much better than the first one I listened to by him. (Ambient 1) It's also just produced so well. Which makes sense bc it's Brian Eno. Each song sonically fits it's title and lyrics so well. I loved I'll Come Running. Gimme 10 of those please and thank you!

Ooh great more 90s action movie music. This album is at least better than the OTHER 90s action movie music I listened to but I don't really like it still.

It really feels like you're there at the Apollo watching him. I loved the energy and the atmosphere, the screams from the crowd. The recording still sounds so crisp and clear while being live. And James Brown is just.... the king of R&B. He's the ultimate performer.

I know this is supposed to be concept album, which is cool. But jesus it's much too long. And fairly self-indulgent. I do enjoy it though! It's a rock opera. It's catchy and fun and theatrical at times. I like the harmonies and the singing. I like the journey of the story.

I love them. I feel a fondness for the Isley Brothers that I cannot explain. But this album is just the perfect soulful vibe. I'm sick today and it put me in a better mood! Just hit after hit. No notes.

You know for this being a genre a usually don't like, they do a good job. I liked a few of the songs! I think I would like to see them in a grungey hole-in-the-wall bar. Well done for what it is. But the singing voices are a major turn off for me. I just couldn't get into it beyond that.

This was..... magical. Just so good, I was transported to a penthouse suite overlooking some city I've never been to. It was perfection. Start to finish!!!! I didn't want it to end. I 100% would get this on vinyl and then laze about my house like I make 3x the amount I do. Also this just has that late 90s sound that is so nostalgic to me. Even disney movies during that time had at least one song like this on every album! This is a masterclass in the genre however.

Classic!!! I love Chicago rap and I love this era. It's so impactful but still simple and fun and just plain good!

Patti Smith is a personal icon of mine. That being said, I think this is such an impactful album. It's melodramatic and real and about the MEANING of the words in the songs. I love her and I love this album. Patti Smith single handedly changed the game when it came to women in punk and what that looked like. She was a one of a kind. Every sad indie artist's sound today can be seen in the echoes of this album. She is first a poet and then a musician.

For someone who hates gritty, negative, depressing music I sure do love this album. I think it's just so good at expressing all the rage and pain and sadness beneath the "edgy" it's not edgy just to be that way, it's edgy because it's expressing real emotions in a talented and cohesive way. It's a dirty album in more ways than one but god if it isn't catchy. The whole album feels like driving in a fast car at night on a poorly lit highway with no other cars around. I just love Trent Reznor's work. I think anyone who meets me would be shocked that this is a high rating for me but anyone who REALLY knows me wouldn't be shocked at all. I love me some thematic drama and The Downward Spiral delivers.

Folk Country Queen. I love her voice. It's so clear. It's so emotive. I love the song writing. This is what I love about country. I wish I could write songs even half as good. A knee-bouncing good time of an album. I'd love to square dance to this.

I didn't really like this. I think it was just a little bit too much for me. Sounded like TV show music. I don't really know, there were songs I liked and then songs I really didn't like. It's just meh to me overall. . I usually love blends of genres and I can see how it's quite well done. I just didn't connect with it. I think this could be an album that grows on me over time. But this is not over time, this is one listen. Maybe it will show up again later in my life and I'll be a different person, prepared to enjoy it more

Love, much like how I love They Might Be Giants and the Magnetic Fields. I just love REM. I don't think this is their most revolutionary album but I will say I think it's perfect for today. End of Summer, beginning of fall? Perfect time to listen to this album. I love that the album feels Green. It just reminds me of being outside in the forest on a pretty day. I think it's fun and pretty and simple enough to be impactful in the ways that I want it to be. It's making me smile.

Some good, some not so good. Some timeless, some DATED. It was fine! I like the Police, I didn't love this version of them. It's just a little.... much. I do see how this could have been a pivotal album to the turn of the new decade and the sound of the 80s. Mostly it was just wailing noise.

I've always heard of Elvis Costello but never listened to any of his albums. I loved it. It's so modern, I can't believe it came out in 1977. Just so fun and smart and punky and yeah. So great. So many blends of genres and yet still so distinctive. I really really enjoyed this! A hidden gem find for me.

It's cool for the time period in which it released, it's also very interesting and very well stylized. But it's still not for me. Cool, unique, and then just a little too emo for me.

I love the Pixies and this album is basically just a greatest hits album that they released all in one go. So good, one of the best complete albums. Just so much variety while still maintaining the same sound.

Super cool live album, very political, very punk. I liked it a lot! Very raw and real (helped by the fact it's live) Very cool overall.

Very funny to get this the day after MC5, we're just on a punk kick I guess! It's also great to be able to listen to Iggy Pop in his early days. He's great, I love the way he emphasizes things. There are some songs on here that are awesome and some that are not. We Will Fall is WAY too long and honestly drags down the album so much. Over all it was good and I liked it but it didn't blow me away.

Really great guitar but definitely closer to pop than rock for me.

I loved this???? Dramatic pop. With so much variety. I loved the Marimba. I would listen to this any day of the week and that shocks me bc I've never thought of myself as a White Stripes fan. I don't know if it's a 5 for me but it's DARN close. I think it might be edged out for me by I'm Lonely but I aint that lonely yet. This is emo theatre kid music and I'm not afraid to say that that's right up my alley.

I could barely get through the first song. It's piercing and barely together. Plus I really hate the voice. Like so much. It's so boring to listen to and you can barely understand him. Also it sounds like he's in a tunnel. Why is Albatross 10 minutes long!!!!? It did get progressively better as the album progressed. Kinda sounds like Echo and the Bunnymen to me??? Idk I'm liking it more and more as it goes on. I think I just hate Albatross. Yeah, it's a good album that I liked but holy god Albatross really brings it down for me.

This is really long but good but not really my cup of tea. So thusly it's a three.

I love this Album. It reminds me of summer days with the windows open and a nice breeze flowing over you. No worries. No stress. Just pure serenading by Leonard himself. 10/10 no notes.

I didn't realize that we are gonna be friends is by the White Stripes! I love that song! Otherwise I thought it was okay, a little too emo for me at times but overall a good album. I typically enjoy when albums have shorter songs and more of them so this definitely scratched that itch. I don't think this is as good as Get Behind Me Satan but it's still quite good. 4 stars just for the one song.

Eleanor Rigby is one of my favorite songs of all time, one of my top 3 beatles songs, and this album is just so freaking good. BUT it's not my favorite. It's really really good but some of it is just too experimental for me. So it's like a 4.5

I love you Boston. You're exactly what I needed on a random Monday. It's fun, it's theatrical, it's free. There's just enough going on to keep it good but not so much that I can't do other things.

More Elvis Costello! I love the backing band on this one. It just feels so much fuller than the last album I listened to by him. Makes me want to dance and drink a can of pop and not care about anything happening in my life. As any good pop/rock album should. I am discovering that I am simply an Elvis Costello fan. Sounds like the default music that exists in my brain. I think we'd be friends.

Jaunty, extremely varied, yet still a tiny bit polished. Punk for the common man. I enjoyed the backing harmonies, the different genres infused and woven within the album, and of course, the energy that The Clash always bring. A long album in my world, I surprisingly wasn't tired of it by the last song. It helps that there are many short songs. Multiple clocking in under 2 minutes. And unlike a lot of classic rock albums, I could tell when one song ended and another began. Is it on the nose? 100%. There's no deeper meaning in most of these songs than the chorus, which typically matches the title of the song. But it's also easy to listen to in that way. No big brain needed. Just enjoyment.

I love a good folk vibe. This is the perfect album for fall when you start to feel a chill in the air. It's very good, very beautiful, just sort of boring to me. I think I love Fleet Foxes for relaxing background noise. I'd love to listen to them at a cafe while I read a book. That would be perfect. But that's not a 5 album for me. A 5 album has me HOOKED. So it's a 4.

I've always known The Flaming Lips by name but I don't think I could have told you anything about them or their music. This is the first time I'm consciously listening to them and it's not what I expected with a name like The Flaming Lips. It's much more funky. lo-fi, happy sounding than I thought it would be. But I'm enjoying it! Feels like a blend of folk music and synth music. With a little alt rock thrown in the mix for good measure. I love the orchestral pieces of the album too and the little add-on robot parts. It's a cool concept. The second half of the album starts to blur together and isn't nearly as interesting as the first half however. Overall I enjoyed it more than I expected!

I like the Smith's but I don't think I like this. It's too... cheesy? I don't know, his voice isn't hitting the same way. Most of the songs are self-indulgent and much too 80s in a bad way. Sounds almost like church music to me but with a voice that isn't good enough to make the solo during communion. Meh. Not terrible, But I'm not enjoying it either. Guitar was fine but it really just doesn't hold up to other things I really like.

Eh, it was fine. I didn't really like Lloyd Cole's voice and I don't really understand why it was on this list! But it wasn't offensive I guess.

I liked this. It's very vibey. I feel like the band is very good and very tight. It's simple but still so good. Feels like you're listening to a band at a small local band and you can hear every little thing they do. Very cool. Still not my exact taste. But it grew on me a lot. I would let someone else play this for a 2 hour car ride and not complain. Definitely an album you have to listen to with both headphones in.

This album won me over. I was NOT a fan at the beginning. It was just not what I was expecting. But by the third or fourth song, I understood. This is a gritty, emotional, breathtaking album. And it's not supposed to make you feel good. But it IS good. I ended up loving the album for all it is and all it isn't. I can't believe I had never heard of PJ Harvey before this.

Meh. It's fine but like.... nothing special. It's short enough and yet still couldn't keep me entertained. But it's New Wave and I like that? It's just not something I'd go out of my way to listen to again. Cool 80s saxophone though!

This is Dad Rock. I know Chris Cornell is supposedly a fantastic vocalist but I'm really not feeling it. Just long and boring and all blending together. I was really tired of it by the end. I can see where it's not bad by any means but it actually made my day worse.

This was fine! It's a movie soundtrack and it was kinda all over the place? I don't know it just wasn't for me I think. I liked the composition of the songs and a few of them are very catchy, but otherwise it was meh.

It's cool, but it all reminds of credits music from mid 2000s movies. All the songs are well done and upbeat and catchy. Well layered, well mixed. I'd just rather listen to the real thing, aka the songs that were sampled to make all this music. This doesn't feel like it has any of the soul or feeling that the original songs possessed in their creation. It's great background music. Like in a commercial or walking around a mall. I like being at work listening to it because I don't really need to be paying attention to it at all to get the enjoyment out of it.

I love this. He's insane. I want to be friends with him. This sounds like something my friends and I would make up for fun in high school. I loved the interjections and the humor in it all. I loved all the different genres and styles. He can do anything! I'm a new fan.

I had never heard anything but Fast Car. This is such a solid, impactful album. It's so pure and straightforward. It's also sad and hard to listen to at times, not because of her gorgeous voice or the simplicity of the music, but because of the lyrics. This is a must listen to for anyone. But it's meant to be heard as a message and not just as music. I see this as an album of poetic statements put to music.

This sounds like the music of my teenage years. Even though this came out when I was 6 years old. It just has that quality of british bands I was obsessed with at 15, like the 1975 and Scouting for Girls. Obviously this is a much cooler, more punk version. But I think it's the perfect grown up teenage album. It's new to me but evokes the feelings I loved from music when I was in high school I really enjoy this! I don't think it's the best album I've ever heard, the voices can get quite grating. But I still think it's quite good.

This is muppet music. I love it. Super long instrumental songs are still not my cup of tea. They get repetitive to me! But This was well executed. It's cool, it's orchestral, it's zingy, but it also got a little tiresome as the album progressed. I would love to witness this live but it's better served in that format than here.

This was such a cool experience by a band I've never heard of before. But it was just GOOD punk. Sounds much more modern than 1994. I don't need to know why it's important to music history to thoroughly enjoy the listen. I did not like the noise in the middle, but it's so reminiscent of watching punk/metal live that I had to smile.

This was good! I liked the folkier songs more than the others. Not really a stand out to me but not bad in general. Very much background music to me. I like other Buffalo Springfield albums better.

It’s John Coltrane. It’s fantastic jazz. Of course it’s great.

I only know Layla and to be honest, I only needed to know Layla. The rest were boring and repetitive and the guitar wasn’t even that impressive for him being to GOAT or whatever they say. Even at the time this was released, it had all been done before.

I love Curtis Mayfield’s silky voice. This album is political and impactful but it is a little one note. I enjoyed it thoroughly but I also have come to find through this that I love soul.

Such a great Jazz album. I love that it's live, I love that there are multiple takes. I love hearing the dishes clink and people clap. It really transports you to a different place and time. I only wish I could have experienced it live. This is just the most perfect relaxing dinner Jazz album and I love it.

This is one of those albums where I wonder to myself "How have I never heard this artist before?!" I thoroughly enjoyed it, start to end. There's some humor, some whimsy, and just over all great jams. I was hooked from start to end. Short and sweet and oh so good. I'll be listening to more from Mr. Nilsson after this one.

I really enjoyed this. I love old school hip hop. The story telling, the sampling, the variety, the beat. It's all so great.

I didn't really get it at first, but by Closer I understood. It's still not my exact style of music, a little too electronic for me. However, it's beautifully composed and I see why people really enjoy FKA twigs. I think it ended up right down the middle for me by the end.

I'm so surprised that I haven't gotten a Beatles Album yet! Number 121. I think this is such a good album, obviously a famous album for a reason. It's the Beatles on a roll of good releases. Just a good, dynamic, interesting album all the way through. So many classics.

I don't know why but I literally hated this. I don't like his voice, I don't like the fact that it sounds like a cheesy movie musical but with none of the catchiness. I don't know it just did NOTHING for me and I was waiting for it to be over the entire time. There's just no way that this is in the top 1001 albums. No way. Maybe because it sounds like bad 1980s music but it was released in 1968? Still. Just not it for me.

I love a good girl punk band and Hole is one of the classics. I've never really thought about it beyond that!

Most of these albums, I didn't listen to close to the time that they came out. This one however, I did! And I didn't like it then! And I don't like it now! It's just not for me. It's slow moody music and the singing is not my cup of tea. However the organ? Exquisite. I love the music, just not the singing. That brings it up to a 3 for me but literally no more because the voice actually grates on my ears.

Interesting! Varied! Markedly british! But still great and I liked the whimsy and I liked the songs I had never heard more than the ones I had heard. Cool!

I thought it was good but at this point I've heard it before. I love folk music though and this one was really good so it'll get a 4. I would definitely listen again.

This is the most recent album I've listened to so far and I really liked it! Super catchy, I couldn't help but tap my feet and dance. I love his voice. Fantastic new find!

I don't even need to listen to this album again to give it a 5. I love the beach boys and this is one of their best. Starting with Wouldn't it be nice, aka one of the best songs of all time, is just unfair to every other album on this list. Easy 5.

I do NOT like Neil young’s voice. And I do not like egregious 8 min songs for every song on an album! The actual music isn’t bad per se but it’s truly nothing special. I do not understand why this album is on the list. This is just reheated leftovers!

Black Magic Woman is a song that is so seared into my brain from childhood that I couldn't NOT enjoy this album. Obsessed with how all the songs lead into one another. Obsessed with the horns and the piano and everything. Sexy, smooth, just extremely wonderful overall!

I love 80s goth music. This album is just so ambient and sets such a scene. I am transported by the music and the album is so complete while also being so complex. Loved it!

Meh, a little too hair metal-y for me. It was fine but nothing really hooked me.

The music itself isn't bad but I HATE his voice. Also the last thing I ever want to listen to is a bunch of songs about mainly women being murdered! I understand that the murder ballad is an important part of the history of folk music but that doesn't make this album any more enjoyable for me! I disliked every second of it. The last song is the ONLY redeeming one. He even ruined Kylie Minogue for me :(

It's really good! It's just a little too all over the place and too long. I like a shorter, more focused album. This would be fantastic if it was a live album, but alas, it was curated to be like this.

My synth pop king <3 I love Gary Numan and I love synth pop and it's just so good overall.

This is a great album in terms of the fact that I love New Orleans and this is so heavily influenced by that sound. I love the piano, the horns, the pedal steel, the backup singers. It's solid all the way through, not a bad song in there. At the same time, not a stand out either. There's not one song that stuck out to me, not one that got stuck in my head. It's a great album, but I think I expected just a LITTLE more in terms of hits.

Only 4 songs? Interesting! This one is weird! Sometimes in a cool way, sometimes in a jarring way. Felt like I was listening to a youtube mashup at times, where the only thing keeping it all together was the beat in the background. So far I am enjoying it though, it's different and funky and it's keeping me engaged! Surprisingly, ended up loving it. It sounds like what my brain sounds like.

Very kooky, sometimes jarring, sometimes cool. Based on the start of the first song I thought I would detest it but by "The American Way of Love" I was hooked. What a cool album. It's more of an experience than music to put on. But I enjoyed my listen.

I usually love soul but this one didn't stick out to me beyond the first song, I didn't even notice when it was over. It's good though.

I love Dolly's voice. That will always be true. I haven't heard this album before though! This is really sweet and classic country record. Something I always love for the simplicity of song writing as an art. Plus the pedal steel is lovely.

1980s edgy synth pop extraordinaire. The voices of soft cell are actually the voices of the whole decade for me. I knew tainted love and where did our love go? but it gets SO much weirder, in a really good way. I like the punchy repetitiveness. All in all, this got me in a funky mood and kept me interested!

A good folk album! Easy listening but nothing that I was blown away by. Maybe they really need Young

I had to listen to the full album 3 times to actually pay enough attention to it to rate it. I would say there are some stand outs but over all... it's a good album for background listening. It can get a little drone-y but all the songs felt cohesive without getting to repetitive. I would put this on again to listen to at work but it wouldn't be my main pull for a listening experience.

I heard that initial piano lick and immediately turned it up. I had never heard of Traffic before this but now I can't forget them. I'm listening to the whole album (which is only 6 songs! A sweet spot for me) again while I type this and wow, it's even making me type with more of a groove. Two headphone worthy. I will say, I preferred the album before the singing started, but it's very 70s so I enjoyed it! All the musicians are so good that I would listen to an album of just the music so happily. 5 if not for the singing which brings it down to a 4.

Talk about an all time great rap album. I love Nas' voice and I love his flows. He really finds his pocket so effortlessly. He's not rapping over a beat, he's rapping with a beat. Yeah this is stellar.

Raw Power is such an accurate name. This is raw, real punk, with a grimy feel you can't help but wrinkle your nose at while listening. It's such classic punk but it carries so much finesse in the musicianship. The drums and the guitar and even the vocals are GOOD without being so polished that they take away from the feel.

Going into this album, I thought I had never heard any of these songs. But I have. Because they've been trending tiktok audios before. No hate to that as a concept, some amazing music and some terrible music has been trending on tiktok. Here's my thing, this sound in 2012 was revolutionary. Today? This sounds like everything else. I don't particularly like it. I remember liking songs from Blonde, probably because I was listening to them in 2016. This takes the sound of R&B but makes it almost digital. I don't want digital, I want the big band sound of sultry R&B. It's fine, I know he's super popular for a reason but that reason seems to be that it's a diluted R&B for the modern era. I'm not melancholy enough to enjoy this.

How did I not know that Annie Lennox was the singer in Eurythmics?! I feel like I've been under a rock, I love Annie Lennox. This album was too long imo. I loved her vocals and I love the rhythms but all of the songs dragged on a bit too long. By the 10th song I was getting bored. However, this is a masterclass in 80s new wave so I can't be too mad about it.

90s grunge pop. This band just reminds me of Olivia at this point. I will say, I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing even though it's not my usual style!

sigh. I didn't hate it as much as I expected to from the description. But I still did not like it. It's..... giving early 90s but not in a way I want to be a part of. I feel like I should be doing drugs in a seedy warehouse and piercing my nose with an earring back.

I only know ZZ-Top from his role in Bones lol so I'm so intrigued about what this is going to sound like. Okay! So it's 80s divorced dad rock! It's catchy and fun but boy is it one note. Still, I enjoyed the hits and I didn't mind the rest.

This was a good modern rap album! Good flow, good style, just not my usual pick.

I liked the rhythms and the groove. I think I would like it more if I liked his voice better. I'm fine with not understanding the language, but there were times I found his voice quite grating. Also some of the songs were far too long for them to be as boring as they were. Felt almost Jam-band-esque at points because it just kept going and going.

Rock and Roll! At it's purest form! And that's all it is! But! I didn't hate listening to it. It's starter Rock and Roll for the masses and I'm okay with that.

I typically detest Nick Cave. But this is more like spoken word poetry over really beautiful music so I'm not as against it. It reminds me of a sad ballad in a musical. The backing vocals are actually gorgeous. Wait why am I really enjoying this? I typically hate both Nick Cave and extremely sad albums but here I am, two earbuds in just to hear it better. I don't want it to end??? This is probably my most shocking enjoyment of an album so far. I saw the title and artist and groaned and yet here I am, about to give the album a 5.

See this is weird without being TOO weird. I actually love Acapella music so I really liked that song. It feels like they're trying new things without it feeling all over the place! I liked it! But I don't think I'd listen to it on my own again. I didn't even really mind the voice, which is surprising for me.

I love David Bowie but this album isn't my favorite. Heroes is such a stand out song and the rest of the songs don't live up to it's greatness. Still Bowie, but not even the best of this era.

Only 5 songs and one of them is a bonus track but 45 mins long? hell yeah that's how you know you're going to get good jazz. It seems like it's all instrumental, mainly focusing on the organ???? Was not expecting that feature to be honest! It's such a unique sound. If I'm going to listen to an all instrumental, I prefer a live album. This is great background noise but I don't know if it's doing enough to hold it's own as a "listening" album.

It's fine. It's nothing special. Minus one point for how gross Stupid Girl and Under My Thumb made me feel. I could really feel the hatred towards women in the song.

I love Disco, this is a chill disco album with what I consider 2 great hits. The rest of the songs are good but nothing amazing. It's a quick album though and I would listen to it any day of the week, it's just not blowing me away!

You know for Noise rock, it doesn't just sound like straight noise! I've seen my fair share of terrible noise rock in DIY venues in basements and garages and warehouses. But this actually has elements of jazz and each song sounds distinct. They're talented at what they do. It's not grating, it's energizing and makes me want to mosh (and I NEVER want to mosh) so I'm pleasantly surprised but not actually surprised because it's Lightning Bolt. Better seen live, but best listened to while on a high speed chase, drugs, or preferably both at once.

It was fine. Plus one for waterfalls, otherwise it's very normal RnB/Pop.

This being his debut album at all of 21 years old. This is true art in music. The lyrics are poetry on their own and then the melody just adds to them. I am always completely absorbed when I hear this album. From start to finish he has me under his spell. Though I’m not usually one for sadness or melancholy, this album is so beautiful that I have to love it. The album ending with Saturday Sun, my all time favorite Nick Drake song, is only the cherry on top of an all time great album.

I think this might be my most recent album! 2023! I have heard of Mike Ladd as a producer but not as an artist himself, so I'm curious what it will be like. It's interesting, I don't know if I love his flow to be honest. It's almost like a hip-hop poetry blend which in theory I would love but in practice it was okay. The whole album felt way too long for me. But I would listen to it again.

Devo Debut!!! Yes!!! I love this album, it was LEAGUES ahead of it's time and has the raw funkiness that I crave.

This is a great country album but it's Gram Parsons AND Emmylou Harris. I can't believe she's not credited on any of the songs, they're mostly duets with her!!! She makes the album and so I can't give 5 stars during Women's History month in her honor.

Funny that I got The Next Day, the next day after Hunky Dory. That being said, what a clear comparison for me. It's still Bowie, but none of the songs really gripped me the way that the songs on Hunky Dory do. He's still magic, just a bit faded.

Solid 70s album! I enjoyed, I liked hearing the That 70s show even more. All of the songs were pretty basic but I didn't hate it.

Interesting album, based on the first song I was expecting to NOT enjoy but it actually became quite varied and good! I would say that each song had one thing off about it. I couldn't fully connect with it. Still solid though and I like the 70s folk-esque genre.

I just really dislike Bob Dylan's voice. It ruins the poetry of the lyrics, which I've read on their own and really enjoyed, but then he starts singing them and they all sound trite and overdone because of his cadence. I get that this was revolutionary at the time, but at this point I can go to any local bar and hear someone play a brand new song that sounds exactly like this. I dislike an overlong song and that seems to be his specialty. But I will say, the album grew on me and by the end of it, I didn't hate it as much. Still not my favorite by any means and you probably won't ever find me listening to Bob Dylan on my own. But I don't HATE it as much as I did at the beginning.

I love the Pogues, I love irish music, I love punk, I love the lyrics, I love the layers. Yeah :)

My college boyfriend loved Linkin Park and I could never get into it. It's like Punk that's been scrubbed clean. It's always been cheesy and I've never connected with it. It's made for angsty pre-teen boys and I am not nor ever was one so it's not for me! 2 for the catchiness of like... one of the songs. Otherwise it's just bleh. Give me metal over this anyday.

I like Bittersweet Symphony in the same way I love all 2000s ear worms. Otherwise this was lukewarm, moody, brit-pop with too long of songs and not much to say. Crazy that it wormed it's way onto this list.

Very very 80s. Everything blended together and though it's good, it's just not that noteworthy to me. I like the 80s a lot and I like new-wave esque music and this was still just fine. The album art made me laugh though because it looks just like a Sunday school workbook I had growing up and I don't think they were going for that when they designed it.

This is SICK. The B-52s meets punk meets Bjork. That's a combination I never thought I'd hear but I was obsessed with it. Just effortlessly cool and good all the way through. I wish desperately that I could see them live. The album cover art is also one of my favorite album covers ever I believe. Just obsessed with it all. I'm buying it on vinyl as we speak.

I was so excited when I heard the horns of the first song and then it was just.... british alt music from 1999. I loved the water noises on Fall in a River though. Really immersive (and yes that's a pun). I liked it, I liked the amount of layers. Really takes singer-songwriter into the 21st century. I think I would relisten to it honestly! I had low expectations after the first song, but there are some stand out songs. In between, there is only boring though.

Queen is my favorite band! This is not their best album but it's Queen and it's revolutionary and I can't give it anything less than a 5.

So meh. I get that it's their self title but dear god this is whatever. It's just blues songs regurgitated and worse. They have so much better.

I loved this so much. I did not think I would be into the Smashing Pumpkins but this was the perfect album for a grey morning. It's interesting, haunting, beautiful, and complex. Not my usual cup of tea but I think I got it on the most optimal morning to listen to it.

This is more like stand-up with songs. It's enjoyable? But I don't find Tom Waits voice enjoyable. More of an entertainment experience than an album. Cool in concept, would be better in person. Wouldn't listen to it again though.

I was vibing and then the singing started. And that's where it ended for me! I will say, the second song was better but that just means it was repetitive and boring. But THEN the third song started and I knew it wasn't going to get better. I gave up hope. The whole experience made my lip curl reflexively. I know it's probably someone's cup of tea but in this case I am allergic to it. The high-pitched singing actually sounds just like Gingey from Shrek decided to join an indie band.

Maybe THE most iconic start to an album with a same song/album title. I mean it's Mavin Gaye. It's Let's Get It On. It's short, it's powerful, it's amazing. It's before it's time. Yeah :)

First of all, this album LOOKS so recent. I would have thought it was from 1998 based on the album cover and the name. This is theatrical, which I love, so I'm enjoying. I've actually never heard of Laura Nyro before. But she's reminiscent of Carole King and Joni Mitchell. I love the Jazz influence that you can readily hear in all the songs. It's like a jazz/pop/folk meld that is just delicious to me. She has a whimsy and a freeness that reminds me of my original favorite singer-songwriter: Melanie. So ethereal and dramatic and jazzy and just.... this is what it means to be effortless and yet so intentional. This sounds like what I feel like walking around a city in the summer wearing an outfit I KNOW looks good. or if I was a boy: shooting a 3 before the buzzer.

I am a musical fan but this whole album sounds like the old man ballad that they throw into the middle of Act 1 to give the leads time to change.

This was a rollercoaster truly. I was really vibing, then It's Business as Usual came on and tanked the vibe. But then it went back up. It sounds a lot like a movie soundtrack to me with the variety throughout. It's got such a cool blend of new and old. Vermillion Kisses was funny but so silly goofy to have in the middle. Overall, it was a good time. I feel like I went on a little adventure.

Damn, he really did that. I love him. He's a genius and to give us such a war rattle of an album, how can I not be grateful?

This was awesome pop. I love the laissez faire attitude of everything and the lyrics. I will say, it's amazing to me and I feel like if I heard it when I was a teenager this would be a lifelong classic, however! It's just a little TOO chill girl for me. Like.... this is more non-chalant than I'd like it to be. I am too chalant to connect enough. Still amazing, I'm happy I learned about her.

It's a very diverse album but it feels a little too pop-esque and a little too watered down to be actually cool. Not bad at all, I liked it.

I really liked some of it and I felt meh about the rest. It was a really good rap album that I should probably save for a day that I'm much more in the mood for it. Complex, rich, and oh so well mixed.

I think this album is one I'll have to listen to multiple times before I love it. On first listen, it's very well done but all over the place. Everything is clean and polished but has a distinctive sound and feel. Definitely one I can see growing on me over time.

I've never really been a Lana fan. Even at the height of her popularity, I just never understood it. I find it pretty but boring and very one-note. Maybe I'm not melancholic enough to really get it. That being said, these were decent, consistent, albeit boring songs. But I didn't find them antagonistic. So, for the girlies, I will give her a solid 3.

It was a little too 80s cheesy for me at times which is crazy because I love the 80s. The hits were hits for a reason, everything else was fine. I like Prince's earlier stuff more.

Short and sweet! I love a live album. I did have another french artist yesterday which is funny to me. But this is good, very much my preference of easy listening with a lovely voice. Makes me want to walk around a gas lamp lit city late at night. In general, I will always prefer the ambiance of a live recording.

David Bowie had his hands in this and thusly, it's gorgeous. Not my favorite singing style or lyrics BUT I cannot deny it's beauty.

I typically like live albums and don't like dad rock from the late 70s. Though I will say, Thin Lizzy (my Irish Kings) can be an exception. It's not as energetic as I expected it to be, but it is clean and solid the whole way through! And because it's Thin Lizzy, they will earn a 5 from me :)

The lyrics were so beautiful and poignant. There were songs that I was deeply moved by, but there were also songs that I had to grit my teeth to get through. The high vibrato is not for me, but the rest of the songs are so gorgeous that it makes up for it. The whole album was so impactful on me that it bumped it up to a 4.

Such a good energy. I do love indie pop and this is a master class in it. I've never been that into Arcade Fire (I think it was before my time) but this is such a great album start to finish. Reminds me a lot of the orchestral pop I loved from the 70s/80s. But with that early 2000s flavor. I would get this on vinyl and relisten to it.

I'm so conflicted. Half of the songs I really liked the instrumentation on and I didn't even mind the voice really. Then the other half were so grating and drawn out and too long. I don't know! I truly don't know! I think I'm just gonna go with a 3 because I can't decide whether it was bad and I still enjoyed it or whether I thought I'd hate it more and I didn't.

I really like indie pop so this hit a sweet spot for me. Reminds me a lot of bands I love now, but this was the early 90s! Truly the indie pop blueprint.

I resisted the urge to rank this a 5 before I even listened to it. But it's ABBA. How could it not be a 5?! The whole album makes me want to live in a movie makeover montage.

This sounds like it could be from a local punk band. But it's from the 70s. I'm obsessed with the instrumentation, just really driving and catchy.

It's a great album. But it's mostly boring to me. The only true banger is Day in the Life. That song gets the whole album to a 4 because it's one of the best of all time in my personal opinion.

I like the higher Elvis voice better than his later voice. But these songs are ubiquitous. I don't remember a time when I hadn't heard most of them. Now that being said, Elvis was a pawn of racism and the Black artists who originally wrote and sang these songs should have gotten the money he made from touring and releasing them. It's just a more boring, whiter version of the songs as they originally were. People who say that Elvis is the reason that Rock and Roll got mainstream don't realize that they're attributing their own appreciation of the music genre to the marginalization of people of color. "Oh yeah he didn't write any of these but it made it so that my grandma wouldn't be seen as racist to listen to this music and because of that other white people started making it themselves instead of just pop crooners!" Whatever, I'll get off my soapbox. It just makes me mad that people don't see the literal evil of the whole situation. I got so mad during this that I'm giving it a one.

If there's one genre I really don't enjoy, it's thrash metal. This is very much NOT made for my taste. I'm open to other types of metal but I really struggle with the tempo mixed with the "singing" which isn't singing in my opinion. At least you can hear the lyrics in this album; having indiscernible lyrics is one of my main points of contention with lots of metal. But it's just grating to me. I understand that lots of people love this type of music and that Slayer as a band is very famous and well regarded, but I am not a metalhead and so it's not of historical importance to me either. I get metal as a whole, the energy, the emotion, etc. Like yes, I understand that the drums and guitar are technically sound, they're clean and there's a lot of musical interest. One of my main pain points with metal is also that I don't typically like music that feeds on negative feelings vs positive ones. In much simpler terms, I like happy music. Or if the emotion is more negative, it's never to the level of rage and despondency that metal seems to embody. This is becoming an essay on metal instead of Reign In Blood by Slayer so I'll focus back on this particular metal album. It's decent by my standards. Again, it doesn't have the main points of contention that other metal albums have for me. I can understand the lyrics, the songs are short and quick. There's a distinct divide between songs and they're technically well executed. This is still not something that I would ever choose to listen to. However, I wouldn't judge someone for liking it. I would go to a concert to see them perform and I might not enjoy it fully, but I would willingly go. Not torture, more acceptance and interest in experiencing life through a different lens. The best way to listen to metal, I've learned, is to REALLY listen to it. Close your eyes and focus more on the depth and the different lines and rhythms all weaving together. But the singing here brings me out of that so quickly, and then it just sounds like a jumbled wall of gross emotion. I will also say, if you are someone who doesn't listen to metal regularly, the best thing to do is to let your brain get used to it. So I think listening to a whole album instead of a song is actually a great way to see if you like it more than your initial reaction. Also being angry before you listen really helps too but again, I don't like music that makes me feel MORE angry or MORE sad so it's just really not meant for me! Can you tell that I am a former metal hater who is with someone who is in a metal band? I have expanded what I like and don't like so much in music because of that. I wouldn't say I hate any whole genre of music now, I just know that I have a harder time connecting with metal and that I am going to be pickier about the metal I do like and want to listen to. I will say, the last song Raining Blood was my favorite song on the album by far. All in all, not a bad album for metal but because I'm ranking it and it's still metal, the highest I can give it is a 3.

Yeah it was good and fun and reminded me of the indie music I listened to in college a lot but it's way older which is just cool!

Maybe I've just heard one too many local punk bands in a sweaty basement, but I didn't think it was that bad. That being said, it was very boring for what it is. Like if it's supposed to be grimy punk, I want more from it. It wasn't that interesting to me. I think that's actually where this album falls the most flat for me. It's not committing hard enough to be noise and punk, and yet it's not melodical or lyrical enough to carry it otherwise. Reminds me of ICP for some reason. Maybe proto-ICP is the whole point of this band, and I have no idea. Positives: the songs and album are short, and the songs are distinct from one another. The last few songs were less boring and committed more to what I expect from a slimy punk album with cool influences. Again, not the worst I've heard by far, but not my favorite album either.

Yeah it was fine! I don't know if I needed a 20 minute song to start the album but it's fine. It's like... good rock with some interesting elements.

This is such elite background music for work. I'm so partial to trumpet and this sort of easy jazz. I'd love this on vinyl. One of the only albums where I haven't minded how long each song is!

Bleh, this took me a whole day to try and get through and I didn't really enjoy it at any point. Just not for me and not interesting either.

A very 80s sound to me. I usually don't love Prince but this time there were a few songs that I enjoyed! A good vibe and nothing more than that.

I love classic country and I enjoyed this enough to listen to old school country for the whole rest of the day! I don't think it was anything mind blowing about this specific record but I love the era and I love the songwriting. Plus you can't hate anything with as much stellar pedal steel as this.

I definitely found that I really like the Cocteau Twins earlier this year. I've only heard their later stuff though so this is a cool foray into their early music. I like the later music more I think but I still really enjoy their energy and unique style. I love my Scottish ethereal music I guess! This album is extremely dream like and creates a super singular atmosphere. I would love to listen to this while laying in a body of water at night. Almost soundtrack-esque. I didn't realize how many albums they released! Definitely like them more the more I listen to them. I don't even know why, they're not my usual taste in music, but sometimes you just click with a certain musical group and that's me with them.

I really enjoyed this!! The most ridiculous name I've ever heard for a band singing country ballads but I have to admit, they won me over by the end.

It's not often that I audibly say "what the fuck" in the middle of an album... but this album got me there. It's so long. Why is it so catchy and so good and then so absolutely insane. I really felt like I was Alice in Wonderland. I went from meh to hate to love so quickly???? I feel like I was hypnotized by Todd. Is he a genius? Is he terrible? I'm not sure. But by the end of it I replayed the last song three times. And for that, three stars.

I typically love a live album, and I do really like Van Morrison. This is far too long for me, but it's very very good and it reminds me of my fiancé :) Great album to have on vinyl.

I think the Beastie Boys are a guilty pleasure of mine. Fight for Your Right was a top 10 song for me in high school. So singular in sound, I didn't need to see the album or artist to know this was the Beastie Boys. Hit after iconic hit on this album. So radical, I wish I was a teen in the 80s when this was released. Does this hold up to hip hop now? Not totally, but it's fun lyrics, rhythmic rhymes, and simple straightforward beats. What's not to love?

I like a good punk/post-hardcore moment! Not my favorite of the genre, but a really well-done album that I enjoyed the whole way through.

I think it's like.... "blues metal lite". Which is fine, it wasn't super offensive but it also didn't really hook me at all. I think it's just okay, but very cool that it sounds raw and real, almost like a live album! Songs were just a little too jam-y for me.

This was sweet!! Very cool new wave that I enjoyed a lot!!

I love them, I love the singing arrangements, I love the simple melodies, I love the use of other instruments. Such a good album and it put me in such a great mood.

It is Steely Dan! I have never really understood the hype but I will say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. A very run of the mill type of record but I don’t hate it by any means.

I know famously people do not like his voice but I really didn’t mind it! I feel like I enjoyed a lot of the songs and the song writing.

This was soooo good. The blues! The music! I know myself enough by now to know that I loveeee a live album that this was no exception. Truly a great blues album.

I would say that this album is generally unremarkable except for the Intro and the song Night Time which for some reason I was OBSESSED with when I was 14. It was my most played song that year. It scratches an itch in my brain that I cannot find a good reasoning for. Either way the whole album gets an extra point for hosting Night Time and being generally good background music.

I had such high expectations because it's Daft Punk! But it turns out Daft Punk started with really repetitive and boring music! So I didn't really enjoy this!

I’ve never really been a fan of Van Halen. I feel like a lot of the songs are dumb and boring. But one bonus point for You Really Got Me because I loved that song when I was 11.
