Very thankful this introduced me to CSNY and all of their work. Only listened to CSN stuff in the past and this is usually considered the best album from all of their work. Each of the four members contribute in their own way even if it worked for only one album.
Young > Stills > Nash > Crosby
A legendary debut album that showcases the mysterious rise of Tracy Chapman and her affect on African American singer-songwriting and music in the late 1980s. Who doesn't love Fast Car?
I don't like ELO. It sounds good but it's just a futuristic copy of the Beatles and sounds like Queen and many other 70s groups. Mr. Blue Sky is the worst hit song ever from a rock band like this. A necessary evil to influence better acts.
A very okay album. Nothing that special since their just the UK Strokes. Take Me Out became a huge hit for the 2000s indie rock era for some reason. The Strokes are better then this copy band and FF have not improved upon this record.
A Jazz album that is a mini symphony that tells a personal story of John Coltrane. Jazz albums don't only need to be a highlight of an artists work and that is why this is received as one of the greatest jazz albums. Great solos toward the end by the band. Best to listen in one sitting since its a short and sweet four songs.
Eminem's second album is pretty solid and sets the tone for his early 2000s work. Changed to 3 stars which makes more sense, but it was nonetheless influential.
Surprised I got this a few days after Deja Vu. Not as good as that but this utilizes many big name guest appearances including Hendrix, Clapton, and Ringo. Brilliantly produced, sounds great and seems to be a very underrated album both then and now.
An album only known for being in the book, its quite a random listen. It's a pretty clean mambo album that is rated low solely for its little known significance.
Not much of a big U2 fan but this is a good introduction to their work and not all of their later crap. Disgruntled Irish people hating the British is fire.
Very clean, its a classic and the father of metal music. Crazy how they peaked with their first two albums all in the same year after existing for only two.
So many haters dislike this masterpiece? Very influential that not many know about. I like jam music so this is clearly up my alley.
Listened to the wrong UB40 album at first before listening to this one. Very solid lyrically and is some crisp reggae. Interesting transitions from lyrical tracks to instrumentals/jams. Another artist that musically peaked during their first album. Not many people like UB40 I guess but their early albums are very clean. Literall 12 minute track hating on Thatcher
Oh yeah, very good. Love Blondie and this is the only inclusion on the list. All of their early work is easily listenable. Essential album for New Wave listeners. Heart of Glass and Sunday Girl 💯 💯
The first of the great RHCP albums. It was pretty long but still a blast to listen to. Many references to other musicians throughout.
It was just alright. A well crafted 60s album with a huge hit and a cult following. However, it wasn't that much for me.
Weird because I was looking at this album a day before it was randomized to me. I was looking at the Edgar Wright documentary on this band and this is the album with their biggest hit. From the listen, did not fall in love with this band and found it a bit of a bore compared to the other albums in the book. There were a few highlights in there.
One of Santana's best. Oye Como Va is my favorite song from him.
Already my 3rd album with Stephen Stills and 3rd as a different act. 2nd album with Neil Young. Probably the best Buffalo Springfield album with some great songs and vocal performances by Stills and Young.
I have never been a big thrash metal fan and while I know this is one of the best thrash metal albums, it ranks lower than many other albums I've listened and will listen on this list.
This is the first band that I've listnened to one of their albums all the way through before starting this and as I do love the Velvet Underground, it was plesant to listen to these songs as I've only heard a few on this LP. Very decent album, not as good as TVU & Nico and Loaded but I'd say #3 is a good spot for a great band.
Not familiar with Kool Keith's work, but this is one of the projects he worked on and its a pretty good album that includes his custom persona as a concept kind of rap album. Its pretty underrated and pretty much a cult favorite. Some weird lyrics in here but I thought it was funny and decent.
Very experimental for his debut album. Inspirational and mainly was due to David Bowie's masterful songwriting and production on it. Really stands out at the time but Pop's second album has more of the hits.
Decent 60s blues album. Its Eric Clapton so it even makes it better!! I enjoyed the What I Say cover with the Ray cameo at the end.
Have never listened to the album in full, but have listened to some of the songs many times in the past. Peace Frog is probably my favorite Doors song and one of my favorite songs from the period in general. The transition into Blue Sunday always is beautiful. As someone who performed Doors songs in the past, I've grown a liking to them despite not listening to them that much. Land Ho is one of those funny songs that I was recommended years ago and would have been fun to play that but never did.
Somehow, this is the first album I've gotten that I've already listened to all of. I am a pretty big Louis Prima fan thanks to Martin Scorsese movies and the Mafia 2 video game. I listen to Louis a few times a year when I'm in the mood. This is pretty much a compilation album that doesn't include my favorite song of his "When you're smiling." Its also one of the oldest albums in the book.
A decent 1960s folk album that is pretty underrated and given a boost by inclusion in the book. Known for the original version of Everybody's Talkin, it includes some beautiful tracks in it.
Elton's best work. Many people agree with this as its got a wide range of stuff from hits to more niche songs. Its a double album and sure is long, but nonetheless enjoyable for one of music's greatest icons. Enjoyed the first time listen of the album.
Listened to this a bunch over the years (as with every beatles album) and of course this is one of the greatest albums ever made. I suppose this is the first album I've gotten that I've listened to a bunch and know all the songs by heart. All in all, its great. Never had a problem with Good Day Sunshine or any other song on the album. It's very well put together and Tomorrow Never Knows is still insane for its time.
Yeah, it gave me the fourth album after I listened to the first three the day before. RIP Ozzy the legend, the prince of darkness, and the best rockstar to be on reality tv. Clearly, the generator knew I already listened to the other two (I got Paranoid a few weeks ago) and gave me this one to listen today. I really liked this album since it wasn't all heavy metal, although I can't quite tell what it has influenced.
Pretty decent Afrobeat album, not his most famous album though so I am curious about its inclusion in here.
A good album to throw at zombies. Thought they were really cool sounding like Dylan.
I have like 2,000 hours on Fallout New Vegas and I listened to this album a month ago. 5 stars or the game was rigged from the start. I love when I mod the game and add all the songs from this album to the radio.
One of the best 1990s rap albums, impactful for what was to come the rest of the decade. Quite the global album in its themes. Its most popular song is included as the closing track even as it was released a year before.
It was alright. A band whose music I've heard over the years which mostly includes the hit Howlin for You, a song that is probably on most 2010s indie playlists. Haven't got that many 21st Century albums yet on here but this is just alright.
It's kind of hard to rate these 90s rap albums because alot of them follow the same formats, themes, etc. Ice Cube is just a terrific rapper in this album and that eclipses him over some of the other rap album's I got.
Nice little experimental concept album. Had no idea that they made this (like I even listen to Who albums). Easiest showcase of corporatism in music.
A pretty decent 60s psychadelic album. Obviously has the hit song everyone knows and a few other good tracks. Pretty crazy album cover too.
Mixed emotions musically, great lyrically. Not sure if this is my kind of music. I like Trent Reznor's voice, though.
An improvement of the debut album, although its much more Iggy "Pop" than his other works. It has his hits on it and works as a pretty good mainstream follow up. Bowie can produce and create any work to be great.
A simple country album from an artist I've never heard of. Apparently, he sang the Spanish lyrics on Should I Stay or Should I Go. Lucky for him to get an album included in this book. It seems he's made other more popular works than this. It was pretty short and alright I suppose.
One of the 70s soundtracks that were miles better then the movies they were for. I really enjoyed listening to this one.
Always one of my favorites. Didn't listen to it the day it was generated since I am disappointed that its given me Revolver and this before #50. Listened to it plenty of times over the years and is an easy 5 star album.
Blur were still trying to find their sound in their second album. Still before the main Britpop era, it included many different sounds from Madchester to Beatles-esque 60s. Lyrics were a huge improvement from their debut album which I thought were pretty basic. Overall, a joy to listen to and some hidden gems in this one.
Ah yes, this has that one song I've heard a lot but keep forgetting the name (and the artist). It was alright for a synth pop album but not high for me compared to the other albums.
This was a perfectly okay 70s album from another artist I don't think I've heard of before. None of the songs were familiar but it was very 70s studio. "Armstrading" sounds a lot like Christine McVie also, and I guess Tracy Chapman is the American version of "Armstrading."
I really enjoyed this little album. Not really familiar with Oldfield but this was really good for an amateur up and commer who recorded it all himself Will watch the Exorcist soon since it uses part of the album.
Deleted my review but I really enjoyed this when I first listened. Quite a surprise and I really like one of the songs in here.
The essential black album. Always a go to when getting into metal and is pretty decent considering I've only heard a few of the songs before.
This is the first album I've gotten that I didn't really care for. The Monkees were a pretty overrated commercialized American Beatles knockoff and this album wasn't anything special.
The hipster Radiohead album. Great to listen when you're high. Hard to rank because its just a part 2 of Kid A, but I'd defend this album more than most. I don't really dislike any of the songs also. I also rate this too high because of personal bias.
Kind of a shame the best songs in the album are in the beginning and the second half is whatever. Still some good songs there, but doesn't beat the first four tracks. Probably the 2nd best Stones album.
Pretty solid album by Joni. great production and musically very strong. The last song on the album is a cover of something I haven't heard in some years.
The pioneer synth pop album was pretty alright. Didn't seem mildly impressive though the songs were pretty crazy.
Crazy how many metal hits are on one album. An essential must listen for mainstream heavy metal.
Warning: Glass knock over jump scare! Quite an immersive live album that feels like you'd listen to it at a fine dining restaurant.
Top 5 rap album of all time, its pretty long but it was great to finally hear the hit songs as an album and as a whole. It's very explicit though!
Pretty mid, wasn't anything special. The memes about this band having the fight on stage were legendary, only special thing about them?
Didn't write anything down for this but its just pretty mid 60s stuff. I recognized one of the songs.
It's a fine Simon & Garfunkel album. Not one of my favorites, its pretty short, has two of their hits.
Decent album, good debut. Maybe they should be in the RnR HOF.
Listened to this on a long drive. Really fun live album. Might get into more Tom Waits now, he had so much fun doing this.
A pioneer album for much of the 80s sound. The Man Manchine is an enjoyable experience for those who enjoy electronic and synth pop music and want to know where its origins lie.
Good britpop album, started liking this band recently. Not 100% sure why this was included in the book and I'm sure its not going to be to everyone's liking. It's what the Stone Roses could have been if they kept making music.
An insanely strong debut by Nick Drake. He hones the sounds of nature and tranquility through the use of various strings, wind instruments, and percussion to create beautiful 60's folk music. Wish I listened to it in a different setting.
This was not good. Pretty poor debut album of the Stones playing American blues covers. Didn't sound good at all. Its only here because its the Rolling Stones' debut. It took some years for the Stones to make really great music.
The generator gave me 2 Stones albums in b2b days. This one is clearly much better than the debut album. This album was the start of the peak era for the band and the records that were coming out. A well-defined blues rock sound completes the album.
Bork's masterpiece. This became my favorite of her albums from awhile ago and is probably one of the best albums from the 21st Century. Homogenic belongs in the book!!!
Interesting little concept album from a band I never heard of. Very English with the radio bits. I wouldn't consider it very memorable though, especially compared to something like the Who Sell Out which is pretty similar.
Pretty good from Ray, not as great as his other work. I enjoyed this.
One of the best from Costello. Great blend of genres, interesting lyrics and fun songs. Some hits, plenty of reissues that makes it difficult to see what the original album was. There even is a Spanish version of the album released a few years ago! While I have listened to some Elvis Costello over the last few years, not sure if I am a big fan.
I really enjoy this kind of 2000s music. Heard some of these songs before over the year. Really enjoyed this album and the use of instrumentals. Essential Indie music.
Prince's first masterpiece. Greatly expanded the length of his previous LP's and included the hit 1999!! Most of the songs are only good when listening to the whole album as a whole. Quite an inspirational album for the 80s and a preview for what was to come. I enjoyed it even if it can be difficult to listen to the first time.
Depression album starter pack, an essential.
Yay Feminism! Last two songs were weird. Essential 80s stuff.
Not really my kind of music. It was alright. Interesting production. This is probably her second best album.
Quite possibly a near perfect album. Plenty of hits that defined Amy Winehouse as a huge star for the short time that she was. Great vocals, instrumentation, production, just one of the best from the decade.
He was so good he released two great albums in a single year. While this one is usually considered the less acclaimed one, it still produced one of his most famous hits in Heroes. While I have listened to Bowie's Berlin period of music, I have not heard this album, and I enjoyed the ambient tracks at the end. He simply made all kinds of great music in the span of a decade.
Another 60s group I don't know. Short album, some good tracks. Not very memorable. Why is a band like this still existing after all these years?
A legendary album. Some of these songs have been favorites for years, not 100% sure if I listened to the whole album before but I may have. A top tier album in my opinion and I love the cover with Nilsson's outfit.
A pioneer punk rock album. Very defied the sound. I enjoyed even if all the songs sounded the similar.
Bruce's breakout album and one of his best works. Never had been a big Springsteen fan and don't rate is as high as others would place it. It's a perfectly fine and enjoyable record with some of hits and good production for the mid 70s.
Best rap album ever (as said by mostly white people). Heard this shit so many times, so its always great to relisten to a masterpiece. Method Man da goat.
This is
Patti Smith's
Horses
A very good album
And I really like
Horses
They gallop around and around
It's time I sling the baskets
off this overburdened horse
Sink my toes into the ground
and set a different course
Cause if I were here
and you were there
I'd meet you in between
And not until my dying day,
confess what I have seen
I like Britpop and many of the 90s UK bands and while I have never listened to Manic Street Preachers, I of course enjoy this kind of music. The beginning of the album was pretty good but it started to drag on till the end and I got bored from much of the same sound it was pushing. Moved from 4 stars to 3 stars.
I guess I have to rate this a four stars, it's the Who and it has some of their hits. I probably wouldn't say its their best album (probably most popular), but its still pretty top tier and very enjoyable. This was definitely when the band was peaking and its still confusing why the band has continued to exist after Keith Moon's death.
Difficult to rate this one as its not a Talking Heads album I've listened to really at all. Take Me to the River, I've heard a bunch of times, but not much from the other stuff. Definitely an improved sound and better production than the debut album even if that one has Love Comes to Town, which I very much love. This album definitely got a nice mood to it (should listen high), but I think they've made better. I will have to give this three stars on a first listen, but could sway to four.
The only Sex Pistols album, its an essential work for punk rock. It has some hits, it sounds great, it's overall very good.
Enjoyable 80s hard rock. Pour Some Sugar on Me always a classic and fun song. Wouldn't really say this something that great or special compared to many of the other albums. It was also pretty long of a record with some okay tracks in it.
An alright debut album from an industrial rock/metal band that I have little knowledge on. I thought it was pretty boring and went by quick. Some decent tracks, still not my favorite kind of music.
This is already my most listened to album of the year and Its a clear 5 stars for me. Simply one of the best albums of the 1990s and all time. Took me a few years to really get into Pulp and now they're one of my favorites. This is album is simply a masterpiece and is the best Britpop album. It sweeps anything Oasis or Blur has made in my opinion. Jarvis Cocker is such a great lyricist and singer. The production is just fucking great and this album has been something of a addiction for me. You thought Common People was great? You also got Disco 2000, Sorted for E's and Wizz, Mishapes, Bar Italia, Underwear, Something Changed, and Live Bed Show. Just crazily goated.
Lou Reed's most popular album. Has two hit songs on it. It was a pretty decent album, but I don't rate it that highly.
I enjoy these international albums from artists I don't know. Pretty long album, in Portuguese. Definitely sounded great as a 70s album from Brazil and I think it deserves a high rating. Plenty of different moods present in this album too.
Probably the second craziest album I've gotten from the generator. Have little to no knowledge on this kind of music and was quite enthralled early on with this concept album. So much going on but by the end it was dragging on. Hard to rate this, but because it was pretty unique compared to the rest, I'll give it a four. Would be great to listen to baked also.
Very nice DJ rap album with some great remixes. Felt it dragged a bit.
An alright singer/songwritter album. Didn't think it was that special or great in any way. Had two covers in it, sounded good, probably won't relisten.
This was fine, some good tracks. This kind of 2000s music goes hard but I kind of forgot what I heard a few hours ago from it hehe.
As its Queen II, I'll give it 2 stars. Never have been a big Queen fan and this was whatever. It has the Bohemian Rhaposdy video as the album cover but that song is on a later album. Only recognize one song on here too.
Didn't listen to this in time and mixed it up with another album from a few days ago because the band names sounded similar. Why you giving me two similar sounding bands within a few days of each other? I even ended up listening to the album a second time without realizing I just listened to it. I did not think this was that special, so there you go. Making up the 2000s album quota.
I really liked some of the tracks on this one. Other tracks were just mid. Not a really great album but I enjoyed it. Sounded like an American Stone Roses with the production, idk.
A nice album with some big hits. Its pretty short and good enough for some hard rock but I aint that all impressed.
Haven't heard this album in full, but have heard most of these tracks before. I've always enjoyed this kind of music and I rate it highly.
Afrobeat funk and soul album that is a solid debut from an artist I am not familiar with. Some good tracks on this, but not quite special. Also someone I just found out shares a birthday with me.
One of the best southern rock albums, truly some great hits on this one and mainstreamed the genre. After not liking this band for some time, I came to grow a liking to some of their stuff and southern rock as a whole.
Finally growing in to liking the War on Drugs. Listened to their stuff over the years on the Indie stations and forgot that there was an album from them in the book. Red Eyes is already a song that I listen to regularly and is in my playlist and this record was a very nice listen. I'd give this a high rating solely for my enjoyment on the genre, but I think there are some really good instrumentals and productions that make this a great 2010s Indie album.
Finally got my first Neil Young solo album. CSNY was my first album I got generated and soon had Buffalo Springfield with NY. Listened to his first two solo albums before this one as I haven't really listened to much NY yet. This is pretty good with some recognizable tracks. There are still better albums from NY (he has too many) but I'd rate it highly.
This was very mid. Last Brazilian album I got was actually good. If the music doesn't move me, the lyrics won't because I don't know Portuguese. Apparently, Caetano does not like this album and I agree that it isn't that great.
First time listening to Funkadelic. Have listened to Parliament. Some recognizeable songs on this too. This is very good and influential in it itself. Should be sure to relisten to this one.
An essential West Coast Hip Hop album. Its got the Doctor and the Dogg what else do you need? Great use of samples. Crazy this was only 1992. Its also crazy I got this a day after I got Funkadelic since this is very Funkadelicish.
This rap album was fine. Decent production and great rhythms, would relisten again.
What in the world is this? I could see why there could be a big cult following for this band, but I didn't feel it. Some weird covers, some other tracks that are okay on its own.
One of the best albums ever. Simply a masterpiece and songs you can always easily listen to. Simply Bowie's best by default, but it is definitely arguable that this isn't his #1. I once played Five Years in a band and had a great time with that even if its a simple song. I also played Star on the guitar too. Lady Stardust a personal favorite. Such a great record!
A 60s psychadelic sounding album with hints of grunge and hard rock. 28 songs in less than 50 minutes is quite a lot of scrobbles! A very weird concept that I have never heard of before. It was a whatever listening experience. Some good tracks over others but they were all short songs.
Fucking ass Spotify got three different versions of this album and all of them are deluxe. If it only wasn't convinient to listen to stuff with. The year seems to be off on Spotify too. Also, this album is much shorter than I thought because of all the additional tracks the Kinks made at this time. Anyways, this is a very good 1960s album, a concept album of sorts and I really enjoyed it. The generator has a lot of mid 60s stuff so I am glad I am getting something that's great that also isn't the Beatles, Stones, or Who.
Funny because I somehow had no idea who this was. A fine jazz pop album with some notable covers in it.
Enjoyed a pretty modern album for once. Good indie sounding work, enjoyed the lyrics. Nice introduction to this person.
Fucking Javier Bardem cracking up on this one
Da Tago Mago more like. This shit fucking slapped, especially that 18 minute track at the end. Every track was clean and beautifully produced for 1966. Pretty underrated record right here.
Van Halen's best. Great 80s hard rock, big hits, very enjoyable. Surprised I haven't really ever listened to any Van Halen.
Prince's masterpiece, simple as that. Thankful to listen to this for the first time. I can see how this is very much a bridgeway from 80s-90s R&B + Pop.
Didn't know this band is as big as it is. This was not that great in my opinion. I only enjoyed some of the instrumentals on some of the tracks.
Very eclectic kind of English indie. Felt it dragged a bit in length and the number of songs, some good transitions out of short tracks.
Some generic crap. Why is your most popular song on Spotify the Intro song? Heard this sound with better bands.
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz!!
Back to back days with bangers. Never listened to a CCR album all the way through before. Gotta love the hits I already know and the other good songs I've never heard.
This didn't move me much. Probably need a relisten again at some point. More interested in hearing Thick as a Brick.
Ehhhhhhh, this is just more thrash metal that is not my cup of tea. Nonetheless, I understand this is a highly regarded metal album and has some hits in it.
Jamaica Strong!!! A coincidence I got an album by a Jamaican artist during Hurricane Melissa? It was a short album and pretty enjoyful reggae. Probably some good lyrics here but I didn't pay much attention and isn't special outside of that.
Soundtrack album to a movie I have not seen, but plan to one of these years. Very trippy and would have been a great listen baked. Last song on the album kinda spoils the plot?
One of the most popular albums ever; never gotten around to listening it until now. Its pretty good even if I feel it was a bit long.
"Oh, you think you know music? Well, I bet you never heard of Tank Battles by Dagmar Krause. You can't call yourself a music connoisseur without knowing this one."
"Hey fam its Miles Davis from Jazz. I need $2,000 so I can make Bitches Brew 2. Can you give me your credit card information? Anyways, I have Wayne Shorter with me. Say hi shorty"
Thought the generator could get away with giving me a 2nd Air album after only 4 days? Think again. This is definitely better than the Virgin Suicides soundtrack.
Only Duran Duran album in the book. Might have given it 4 stars if I liked the non hits that I haven't heard before. I guess Duran Duran is not a great album artist, but rather someone whose greatest hits would be the best way to listen.
Didn't feel this was anything special.
Thought this was going to be rap but was a metal, 80s hard rock record with some punk. Pretty mid, streaming lists the album as coming out in 2019.
Pretty good, some of the songs could have been stretched out in length as this is a pretty short album.
Standard 1960s country album that isn't something special. I liked the introduction part, though. A good listen on a Saturday.
Have only heard a few songs on this one. Did not have any opinions on this going into listening and I enjoy the experimental nature of it. I expect to grow a greater liking to this with additional listenings.
Popular grunge band that I have not listened to, really. Recognized some of the songs, but as I am not a huge grunge fan, I'll only give this three stars since it has some of the band's best work.
While Sheryl has made some decent and catchy pop hits, I don't find her wider music particularly great. This is still a very decent debut album, but I am not the biggest fan of these tracks or her voice.
Listened to this one on a long car ride, very busy day and this one kind of went by. It is essentially an introduction of Indian music to Western audiences and it is enjoying to listen to Ravi play his sitar.
I stopped listening to this blud for the last year and more. Haven't heard his debut I suppose and I can't rate this one that highly right now. 3 or 4 stars.
F'ing masterpiece. Who doesn't love this one? Some of the best music ever.
Great blend of disco and 70s funk. One of Michael Jackson's best and essential records. I may have listened to the whole thing before but at least I have heard the hits many, many times.
One hit wonder group with the 90's dance pop sound. I like this kind of music but these kind of albums aren't that special.
If R.E.M. had a 5 star album, it would be this one. There are two songs on here I haven't listened to before, the rest I have had. I have heard the hit ones many times. Such a great album!
This fucking generator can read my god damn mind. Yesterday, it gives me Automatic For the People and when I am rating the album I am thinking about how Green, my favorite R.E.M. album, is also in the book and others like Out of Time are not. When I finish voting for the album, leave it to my surprise that the generator gave me Green, my second R.E.M. album in a row. What are the odds that something like this happens? Anyways, Green is a 4 star album and Stand is my most listened to song of all time. I really love this one.
I have heard some of these songs before I believe. Not a huge fan of this kind of country and was not in the right setting to listen to this, but I understand its importance.
A highly rated and regarded Beyoncé album. I don't listen to this much pop from the big names of recently. While I admire the production, the guest artists, the audio samples, and Beyoncé's vocals, I'll need to listen to it much more in order to admire it more.
Should have had "Crackers" in the title of the 2nd track.
Masterpiece. Thankful this was included in the book, as this was some of the stuff I listened to as a young child.
Radiodread is actually better
A fair Neil Young album. Folksy, short, some blues too.
Whatever, I can see how this band influenced many future artists, but this is not my style.
Relatable and understandable lyrics, the kind of music I like from Springsteen.
