Getz/Gilberto
Stan GetzFirst response: nice. Warm and sensual, good Summer music. In the end perhaps a bit samey.

I really like the hits, and have only listened to Rumors and the Best of... So this is different, and it takes some adjusting for me. Slightly too many meandering, dragging tracks. It does pick up pace halfway through, becoming more enjoyable for me. Very clearly a 'skip Side A' record for me. Second half is really enjoyable, even if too meandering to my liking at times. Ends fairly weak as well. Too bad, expected more.
This is exactly what I wanted. One of these artists of which I knew just a couple of songs, and the record is just one bop after another. Short, to the point, wild. Actually punk? Couple of the songs nicely filthy, bluesy. I really like this. 1957? OOF.
Too slow, too silly, not my record. It does have a couple of nuggets, but it's not for me.
Absolute surprise, I really like this. Great production, good energy, a bit of raunch, and great vocals. Impressive! I don't think I would have liked this when it came out, but now I'm here for it.
This is the type of punk that I don't really like. Every song sounds the same, but the basis of the songs is just repetition of a lack-lustre 3 chord-programme, with a vocalist whose whiny shout becomes very stale, very quickly.
Very nice! Classic of course, but great production, overall excellent songwriting, even if a bit tedious here and there.
The arc of this album seems completely off? Opens very strong, then dips into a silly ditty, then into a fairly horrific simp. Not too impressed. The singles are okay I guess, but nothing here will remain lodged in my mind. Going Home is the most useless waste of record space I've encountered in ages.
Bass-driven, almost 2-Tone driven synthy rock. I like it, a lot. Even the slower songs, even though somewhat cheesy, are impressive. Great sound! 'Mother' is WEIRD, but I'll take it.
I really like the music. Odd structures, great, driving bass, sharp guitar lines. Post-punk avant la lettre. The voice is what sometimes becomes too much for me, the theatricality doesn't always work for me.
I am not a fan of prog rock. I can hear why it's good, sonically, but it does nothing for me. There are some good tracks, definitely.
This is so ridiculously dull, and stupid, it baffles the mind why it would be on this list. Next Rolling Stones record that comes by I'll skip. Absolute shit.
Decent! Not my usual music of choice, but this I like. Good vibes, great rhythms, not as laid back as I anticipated? Production is really well-balanced too. Will revisit!
The saxophone takes a bit of getting used to for me, but the punk is GOOD. Excellent vocals as well, this is wild! Great bass sound, great songwriting. Yep, I really like this.
I like her voice, but overall the music feels too murmuring for me. A bit too mellow. The husky, smooth sounds start to grate after a while. It's nice, I guess. But nothing I'd want to listen to again by choice.
What I like best are that the songs all seem to be small, self-containing universes? It doesn't sound like a record with an arc, but all tracks work. Even though there's a drug-addled silliness here and there, it doesn't break that particular spell. Perhaps because it's fairly short? Ending dampens the joy a bit though. Still, so much better than the Stones.
Excellent production, but the songs are all a bit too long? I know it's a testament of the times, but they can all lose 1 - 2 minutes of repetition. The speaking parts are absolutely horrible. The hits are hits for a reason, and overall it's a nice record. But I won't be revisiting this one.
Far more interesting than anticipated. Great beats, excellent production, but also very dynamic in its tracks. Halfway through the record hits a dip though, Rollin' and Scratchin', Teachers, High Fidelity are just boring, and the record never fully recovers. The second half misses the energy of the first, perhaps because the record is too long as well.
