Ys by Joanna Newsom

One of the best albums of all time. Deeply personal, sounds really lush and beautiful. 10/10 [KEEP]

Jan 02 2026

Could not have started with many better albums. I might be more of a 'Spirit in the Dark' guy but Respect is one of the most iconic songs of all time. 9/10 [KEEP]

American Idiot by Green Day
Jan 05 2026

I find it less meaningful that their previous record 'Dookie', which is also on the list. 7/10 [DROP]

Van Halen by Van Halen
Jan 06 2026

Perhaps not my cup of tea, cannot argue that Van Halen isn't a talented fellow. If one of his albums is to be kept, it ought to be this one! 8/10 [KEEP]

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jan 07 2026

Worse than their first record, albeit more packed with hits. It is a collection of bangers through and through. 9/10 [KEEP]

Horses by Patti Smith
Jan 08 2026

She is the godmother of punk for a reason. This is a complete MUST of a record. 9/10 [KEEP]

25 by Adele
Jan 09 2026

Not the best collection of songs from Adele. Her other album, also on the list, is much more inspired. This feels less enticing than her earlier records. 6/10 [DROP]

Dookie by Green Day
Jan 10 2026

Very loud and powerful. Definitely a groundbreaking listen. 8/10 [KEEP]

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Jan 10 2026

An anthemic album and a very fun listen. 7/10 [KEEP]

Berlin by Lou Reed
Jan 11 2026

Hauntingly beautiful, it is a magnificent rock opera. 9/10 [KEEP]

3 Feet High and Rising by De La Soul
Jan 12 2026

One of the most uplifting listens in hip-hop. Great to revisit them after they dropped 'Cabin in the Sky'. 8/10 [KEEP]

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jan 13 2026

A very cool unapologetic album. First one from the list I had not heard at all before. 8/10 [KEEP]

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jan 14 2026

Ahead of its time. Very influential and unique listen. 8/10 [KEEP]

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Jan 15 2026

Classic bunch of songs. The Stones at their finest. Still prefer 'Exile on Main St' as an album. 9/10 [KEEP]

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Jan 16 2026

Angry, raw and abrassive but overall very unapologetically chaos. 6/10 [KEEP*]

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jan 17 2026

Great soul record. Pleasantly surprised to see it was included 8/10 [KEEP]

McCartney by Paul McCartney
Jan 18 2026

Disappointing debut of McCartney after his Beatles run. 6/10 [DROP]

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
Jan 19 2026

Between the three albums in this site, this is his rawest and most eccentric oeuvre. However, 'Blue Afternoon' is a much better record. 8/10 [KEEP]

The Chronic by Dr. Dre
Jan 20 2026

Anthemic hip hop record, definitely deserves inclusion in this list. 8/10 [KEEP]

Crocodiles by Echo And The Bunnymen
Jan 21 2026

Very dissonant debut album, had not heard it but does slightly pale in comparison to the more popular 'Ocean Rain'. 7/10 [DROP]

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Jan 22 2026

Deservedly in the list. A very sorrowful album of the great blues artist, I might prefer 'Lady Sings the Blues'. 8/10 [KEEP]

Parachutes by Coldplay
Jan 23 2026

Their most avant-garde record. It remains less Coldplay-sounding than their following records so it is perhaps less iconic. 8/10 [KEEP]

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder
Jan 24 2026

One of the quintessential Stevie Wonder records. Despite its long runtime it remains interesting and soulful throughout. I'm more of an 'Innervisions' guy though. 9/10 [KEEP]

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Jan 25 2026

Beautiful and angsty comeback from the British singer. The vocals sound harrowing at times and the instrumentals sound lush and well-produced. 8/10 [KEEP]

Brutal Youth by Elvis Costello
Jan 26 2026

Within the context of having 6?! Elvis Costello albums in this list (insert the long rant of Patrick Bateman about Huey Lewis & the News having a better humor than Costello), this is their least popular record on the site and deservedly so. 6/10 [DROP]

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Jan 27 2026

Unmissable album for a list such as this one. 'Meteora' does resonate more with me but I agree this is a more important record. 7/10 [KEEP]

Sincere by Mj Cole
Jan 28 2026

It is a very bland album. I have not found any retrieving qualities. The first review mentions Massive Attack, and 'Mezzanine' would be a much more worthwhile inclusion. 5/10 [DROP]

Odessa by Bee Gees
Jan 29 2026

Very interesting album but still far from the avant garde qualities of their 1st album which is one of the better psychedelic gems, and the SNF soundtrack. 7/10 [DROP]

Phrenology by The Roots
Jan 30 2026

I hate that they chose this album. It is more experimental than others they made and still a great record but 'How I Got Over', 'Undun', 'Things Fall Apart', 'Game Theory' and 'Illadelph Halflife' are easily much better. 7/10 [SWAP]

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Jan 31 2026

Rawest than some of the stripes records, I quite liked the sound of the record. Definitely a worthy addition. 8/10 [KEEP]

Purple Rain by Prince
Feb 01 2026

I never got around to truly enjoying Prince. But he is a hell of an artist and this album is a masterpiece. 10/10 [KEEP]

Feb 02 2026

I had only heard snippets of their previous album but going blind onto this record it was a very pleasing listen. It ends up being a very dreamy and cinematic listen. After listening their first record, I might overall still prefer their first record though. 8/10 [KEEP]

Nevermind by Nirvana
Feb 03 2026

As good as it is iconic. One of the most popular albums of all time and the 4th album by ranking in this list. 9/10 [KEEP]

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Feb 04 2026

Fun and interesting record, sad to not have found anywhere solid to listen to it. While appreciative that latin sounds are being represented by this record, I think it is not the landmark album that the list claims it to be. 6/10 [DROP]

Aja by Steely Dan
Feb 05 2026

The most iconic Steely Dan album. It sounds so polished and groovy. Definitely a worthy inclusion to this list. 9/10 [KEEP]

Feb 06 2026

Iconic debut album. It is very enjoyable and solid throughout. It does legitimately deserves it inclusion as perhaps the most representative album of its era in Southern Rock. 8/10 [KEEP]

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Feb 07 2026

It is an iconic record. One of the most important and influential pieces of music of all time. Lou Reed at his best. 10/10 [KEEP]

Feb 08 2026

Interesting record but nothing really stands out. They were probably pioneers to their sound but there were other bands that did so better. 7/10 [DROP]

The Infotainment Scan by The Fall
Feb 09 2026

Liked the album, I was not acquainted with the Fall but will definitely be taking a closer look at their catalog (not like they haven't three albums in the list already). 8/10 [KEEP]

Arrival by ABBA
Feb 10 2026

A moment in time. Great album from the Swedish band, which does undoubtedly deserve their inclusion. I would keep 'The Visitors' as the better record. 7/10 [DROP]

Ys by Joanna Newsom
Feb 11 2026

One of the best albums of all time. Deeply personal, sounds really lush and beautiful. 10/10 [KEEP]

Truth by Jeff Beck
Feb 12 2026

It is a staple in blues and hard rock, a great sixties album that I am happy to have revisited with this project. 8/10 [KEEP]

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Feb 13 2026

Very important record from the American band. I was never a huge fan but this album and 'Remain in Light' are such relevant milestones that they deserve inclusion. 8/10 [KEEP]

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Feb 14 2026

A great album that contains some of his most iconic songs, but having a long runtime and being less unique in sound and style to other of his albums such as 'Let Love In' or 'Skeleton Tree' which are unlisted and 'Murder Ballads' or 'The Boatman's Call' I would do without this one for this type of listing. 7/10 [SWAP]

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Feb 15 2026

More mature than other of his albums. It sounds really well and it is a great comeback album to the rockier side of his discography. However, I'd much rather have 'Electric Mud' in the list as his magnus opus. 7/10 [SWAP]

The White Album by Beatles
Feb 16 2026

The album drags on. At its best it can arguably be considered the greatest Beatles album but there is a messy second half in there that while groundbreaking, takes a smidge off the rating for me. 9/10 [KEEP]

So by Peter Gabriel
Feb 17 2026

This is the definitive Peter Gabriel solo album. However, it remains significantly below any album of his time at Genesis. 8/10 [KEEP]

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Feb 18 2026

Hauntingly beautiful. It is the Nick Drake album that most resonates with me. Definitely deserves an inclusion. 10/10 [KEEP]

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Feb 19 2026

One of the quintessential hip hop albums. It combines jazzy elements, with great rapping to conform a really interesting listen. Would slightly prefer 'Midnight Marauders' but this vastly improves upon their debut. 8/10 [KEEP]

Architecture And Morality by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
Feb 20 2026

In the midst of this anglocentric list, which seems at points to have one too many british entries, this I must say was a pleasing and interesting addition to the list. 9/10 [KEEP]

The College Dropout by Kanye West
Feb 21 2026

The great debut by the polarizing Chicago artist. It sounds so good but as a kid of the 2000s I get more enjoyment out of 'Graduation'. It is still a classic and a crucial record. 9/10 [KEEP]

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Feb 22 2026

I had not listen to his solo career and I must admin the album sounds very good but despite that, I would rather have most of Steely Dan's discography before this. 7/10 [DROP]

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Feb 23 2026

One of the most influential albums of all time. It is wild that they were developing that sound that early in the sixties. It remains a hallmark in proto-punk and overall music history. 9/10 [KEEP]

Young Americans by David Bowie
Feb 24 2026

Upon seeing all of Bowie's albums considered in this publication, this is by my count clearly the weakest. I would much rather have 'Scary Monsters' but as an album in the better half of the artist's discography it remains a really enjoyable record. 7/10 [DROP]

Olympia 64 by Jacques Brel
Feb 25 2026

I am not a big fan of live albums but yet, I am happy that Jacques Brel was able to make his mark in a list such as this one. I think it is a short and interesting listen but I'd much rather hear the studio version in this case. 7/10 [SWAP]

Physical Graffiti by Led Zeppelin
Feb 26 2026

One of the quintessential Led Zeppelin albums. It does have a great side A and iconic moments such as Kashmir. 9/10 [KEEP]

Feb 27 2026

The album has a funny storytelling and it is interesting at times but how this album could deserve inclusion in a list such as this one is beyond me. 5/10 [DROP]

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Feb 28 2026

One of the things I expected from this challenge is to get further into metal but for now it has not been the case. 7/10 [SWAP]

Mar 01 2026

Intriguing album. Knew some of the earlier Doo Wop work by Dion so did not expect him on this vein. Overall, an interesting record. 7/10 [KEEP]

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 02 2026

A masterpiece by the New York City duo, it is packed with hits and is such a beautiful and enjoyable listen. 9/10 [KEEP]

Synchronicity by The Police
Mar 03 2026

Good album by the British band. Much less energetic than the debut, it remains a good album but far from being their best.

Electric Ladyland by Jimi Hendrix
Mar 04 2026

A masterpiece by the guitar virtuoso. Definitely on the longer side of things and the album slowly gets better until the last couple songs. 9/10 [KEEP]

Winter In America by Gil Scott-Heron
Mar 05 2026

I feel that I was not in the proper headspace to hear this. It is a great soul record of its own right yet I do not enjoy it as much as I do 'Pieces of a Man'. 7/10 [KEEP]

Mr. Tambourine Man by The Byrds
Mar 06 2026

It is a very easy listen, not perhaps as enthralling as 'Younger than Yesterday' or 'Fifth Dimension' yet it feels very anthemic. 8/10 [KEEP]

Heroes by David Bowie
Mar 07 2026

While less inspired than Low on that Berlin era vein, it remains probably one of the most forward thinking Bowie albums and the one who carries the title track so it is overall a tough exclusion. 7/10 [SWAP]

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Mar 08 2026

One of the greatest double albums of all time. I prefer Highway 61 and The Freewheelin' over this one but it is undoubtedly a masterpiece. 9/10 [KEEP]

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Mar 09 2026

As someone who really isn't into metal, this is probably my favorite album on that vein. It is packed with bangers. 9/10 [KEEP]

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Mar 10 2026

Solid album by Elliott Smith. I would rather have any of his earlier records before this one. 7/10 [SWAP]

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Mar 11 2026

One of the most beautiful albums of all time. It has no skips and is so enthralling yet innovating for its time. In my opinion the greatest album of the 80s. 10/10 [KEEP]

Parklife by Blur
Mar 12 2026

It is THE 90s britpop album. I guess this one is a merited inclusion unlike way to many uninspired records on this brit-biased list. However, it does not do anything extraordinary, it is just a correct record. 7/10 [KEEP]

Django Django by Django Django
Mar 13 2026

Very enjoyable album. Kind of suprised to see it on the list. It is quite out there and while it does not feel groundbreaking or anything it is a fun listen. 8/10 [KEEP]

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Mar 14 2026

I am more of a Dirty Computer guy myself so I might swap the album by taste but this is definitely the more important listen. 9/10 [KEEP]

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Mar 15 2026

I was not familiar with this as an album. It does of course contain some of her bangers and ends up being an iconic listen. 7/10 [KEEP]

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Mar 16 2026

It is the Nick Drake album that least resonates with me. If one had to be removed from the list it would be this one. However, it remains a great record for what it is. 8/10 [KEEP]

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Mar 17 2026

Very iconic album in latin music. Most of the songs are hits that permeate through culture. This is the sort of album that I expected to watch in this list. 8/10 [KEEP]

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Mar 18 2026

I enjoy this more than their debut, it sounds equally as angry and raw but it seems to have a bit more of direction. 7/10 [KEEP]

Roger the Engineer by The Yardbirds
Mar 19 2026

Very avant-garde psych rock album. Among the variation of the group's members, this is probably the best iteration which produced what is perhaps one of the greatest psych rock albums of all time. 9/10 [KEEP]

Atomizer by Big Black
Mar 20 2026

It is a punk angsty record which sounds bettet than I expected at first. I enjoyed listening to it. 7/10 [KEEP]

Mar 21 2026

Not the most essential of Curtis' albums, but in here he is as soulfull as ever. Overall, more of a fan of his Superfly era. 7/10 [SWAP]

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Mar 22 2026

I thought I was not going to like this one but I got pleasantly surprised. It is not only very well produced but there are no obvious misses. 7/10 [KEEP]

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Mar 23 2026

One live album that definitely merits its inclusion. My favorite of his is however, Electric Mud which I feel is one of the most important records of the genre. 8/10 [KEEP]

Document by R.E.M.
Mar 24 2026

One of the most experimental R.E.M. albums which is however not in my top 5 of theirs. I much prefer Reckoning, Lifes Rich Pageant, Out of Time and Adventures in Hi-Fi from those not in the list. I would swap it for the latter most probably. 7/10 [SWAP]

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Mar 25 2026

The quintessential Cat Stevens album, it is filled with great lyricism, catchy songs throughout and overall a very enjoyable listen. 9/10 [KEEP]

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Mar 26 2026

I want to like this record more than I do. The way that it gets influenced by grunge, trip hop to make for a richer listen. However, it is not my cup of tea. 8/10 [KEEP]

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Mar 27 2026

Good record, one of my favorites in the genre. I would definitely need to take a deeper dive to their discography. 8/10 [KEEP]

Moon Safari by Air
Mar 28 2026

Such an enthralling listen. It is a great album and a worthy inclusion to this list. 9/10 [KEEP]

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
Mar 30 2026

Yet another Morrissey album. This is probably the weakest of the The Smiths albums on here (I vastly prefer The Queen is Dead and Strangeways). However, it remains an interesting listen. 7/10 [DROP]

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Mar 31 2026

Such a cool listen. I was more acquainted with other Malian artists such as Ali Farka Touré but this is a record that encapsulates well that sound as appears to be an easy entry point to that sort of music. 8/10 [KEEP]

Blood, Sweat & Tears by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Apr 01 2026

An all over the place album. It has enjoyable moments overall but lacks cohesion. It was a fairly interesting listen. 7/10 [DROP]

School's Out by Alice Cooper
Apr 02 2026

It is probably not their best, but the title track is iconic by itself. Overall, I quite enjoyed the album. 8/10 [KEEP]

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Apr 03 2026

Un récord indispensable de la banda canadiense-estadounidense. Definitivamente merece una escucha. 8/10 [KEEP]

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Apr 04 2026

I quite like this album. I had not yet listened to it due to its runtime but it remains a good listen. I think that it has better highs than Siamese Dream but it is too long for its purposes. 8/10 [KEEP]

Nixon by Lambchop
Apr 05 2026

It was a much more enjoyable listen than I expected it to be. It is still weird that it got added to the list but I would get rid of many other albums first. 8/10 [KEEP]

Sulk by The Associates
Apr 06 2026

Not a bad album, certainly underrated in the list but it does not sound interesting or essential. It is just OK, I guess? 7/10 [DROP]

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Apr 07 2026

The best of Neil's albums with Crazy Horse and one of the best on the list. It is such a great record. 9/10 [KEEP]

Apr 08 2026

It is a good hip-hop album, very politically charged and with some iconic moments. However, I do still prefer their two other albums in here. 7/10 [DROP]

Kenza by Khaled
Apr 09 2026

While this is dubbed as not the most essential Khaled since it sounds the most west-like, I must agree that this is a fantastic change of pace from the albums shown in this list. 7/10 [KEEP]

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Apr 10 2026

Probably the worst Neil album on here, and yet it is still a magnificient showing that sounds much less produced than his other work. 8/10 [DROP]

Bad by Michael Jackson
Apr 11 2026

Very iconic Michael Jackson album packed with memorable moments. It is less cohesive than other albums of his, but cannot deny the bangers. 8/10 [KEEP]

Bossanova by Pixies
Apr 12 2026

It is an enjoyable record but pales in comparison to Doolittle. It was a nice listen, had not heard them in a while. 7/10 [DROP]

Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
Apr 13 2026

Such a lush sounding album, it does scratch that vein that the classic Kate Bush albums do and whilst less experimental it does sound cathartic and beautiful. 10/10 [KEEP]

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Apr 14 2026

Great album by the Caribbean-born artist. There are many albums that I feel are included in the list to attempt to bridge the gender gap but this one is deservedly so. Fantastic addition. 8/10 [KEEP]

The Poet by Bobby Womack
Apr 15 2026

Bobby Womack's most consistent oeuvre, he sounds as soulful and funky as ever. Definitely a worthy inclusion. 9/10 [KEEP]

Beyond Skin by Nitin Sawhney
Apr 16 2026

Found this to be interesting throughout. It is such an out there record with the mix of fusion it delves into without disregarding its message. 8/10 [KEEP]

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
Apr 17 2026

Not a groundbreaking album but still a cool listen. Sort of expected to like it a bit more. 7/10 [KEEP]

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Apr 18 2026

Cool album overall, it has a couple of bangers. Not a lot of albums can represent this sort of sound better than this one. Would be on the fence on whether it deserves inclusion. 7/10 [KEEP]

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Apr 20 2026

Such an iconic album, a great listen that is filled with bangers. Just what I needed for today's workout. 8/10 [KEEP]

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Apr 21 2026

Such a great Janis album, definitely one of her best. She brings such an energy that makes this a very interesting and dynamic listen. 9/10 [KEEP]

Apr 22 2026

This list would feel incomplete without some album by the great Richard D. James, with this one being perhaps his most famous. It is such an atmospheric and enigmatic listen 8/10 [KEEP]

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Apr 23 2026

There was nothing particularly redeeming about the album. It does feel out of place. 6/10 [DROP]

Heaux Tales by Jazmine Sullivan
Apr 24 2026

It does not seem like an outstanding R&B album. It is a good listen, but nothing groundbreaking or particularly iconic that would deserve its inclusion. 6/10 [DROP]

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Apr 25 2026

The best of Bolan's discography. It is a solid Glam Rock album, and a great listen overall. 8/10 [KEEP]

Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star
Apr 26 2026

I long had this album in my wishlist being as acclaimed as it is in music circles but I had never gone around to listen to it. It is probably one of the best albums that I had not listened to before from this list 9/10 [KEEP]

Picture Book by Simply Red
Apr 27 2026

It is hardly a quintessential record and I can imagine loads of album that would merit its inclusion before this one. But at least it was an easy listen. 7/10 [DROP]

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Apr 28 2026

This is a clear cut 10/10. Probably the greatest album in the history of prog rock, and a major landmark in the history of music. 10/10 [KEEP]

Slipknot by Slipknot
Apr 29 2026

Significantly better than I anticipated. Not anything that I would revisit many times. 7/10 [KEEP]

Apr 30 2026

This is a cool ass album. The beats are dope, the vibe is immaculate and he drops some bars. Enjoyed it! 8/10 [KEEP]

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
May 01 2026

It is yet another dull record from the British Isles. It has cool guitars and some interesting moments but it is not a noteworthy album by any means. 7/10 [DROP]

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
May 02 2026

Such an staple in American blues. A bit overshadowed by its major hit, yet it remains consistent throughout. 7/10 [KEEP]

May 03 2026

This was a great discovery, it is an album which sounds fairly deep and personal and which appears to be very unique in the soundscapes that it presents. 8/10 [KEEP]

Take Me Apart by Kelela
May 04 2026

This is a well produced R&B album. Whilst not an extraordinary record, ot remains quite the enjoyable listen. 7/10 [KEEP]

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
May 05 2026

Bob Dylan at his best, with an album that combines his iconic harmonica with more of a rock-oriented sound, and some of the greatest songwriting of his career. 10/10 [KEEP]

May 06 2026

A very interesting indie rock which sounds truly lo-fi and has an alternative indie vibe. 9/10 [KEEP]

May 08 2026

More interesting than other entries. It is somewhat repetitive and drags on at times. However, I found this to be a good representation of its genre. 7/10 [KEEP]

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
May 09 2026

Yet another incredible record from the Queen of Soul. This one is on the shorter side but remains a beautiful listen. 9/10 [KEEP]

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 10 2026

This one here is a classic Elvis Costello album. Much is said about the large number of inclusions of its discography but for once and deservedly so, this album is a worthy addition. 8/10 [KEEP]

Fragile by Yes
May 11 2026

Their most accesible album. 'Roundabout' is up there as one of the most iconic songs of progressive rock. 8/10 [KEEP]

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
May 12 2026

Up there as one of the best live albums. It does live up to its reputation and solidifies Johnny as a great showman. 8/10 [KEEP]

This album commences by three of the greatest snippets of U2 discography. It remains an easy listen beyond that point but I'm on the fence so as to whether this is memorable enough for inclusion. 7/10 [DROP]

Channel Orange by Frank Ocean
May 14 2026

Whilst I genuinely could not have expected otherwise about this album being in the list considering it is such a lush, interesting, intimate R&B record which of itself does great to represent a generation that is yet underrepresented in this list, it is one of the records that have made me happiest seing it assigned. 9/10 [KEEP]

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
May 16 2026

It is such a unique and iconic album. Beyond the flute usage, it does bring a lot of things to the table and remains a quintessential prog rock album. Cannot fathom that there is only 1 JT album in the list with as many Morrissey and Elvis Costello albums that it contains. 10/10 [KEEP]

Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 17 2026

Beyond the controversies that this album carries, I do not find it as amusing or witty as his other work. It is yet another album from the list that could probably be done without. 7/10 [DROP]

May 18 2026

Fun hip hop album. Miss the time when rap albums were as enjoyable. It has great rhythms and some iconic moments. 7/10 [KEEP]

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
May 19 2026

This is yet another memorable The Rolling Stones album. It does suffer from their lack of well-managed production, but remains a staple of Classic Rock. 9/10 [KEEP]

May 20 2026

It is a very out there album. Very cool and experimental, with a lot of interesting moments throughout. As in the rest of their discography, it lacks having more memorable moments across the album, but gotta value the uniqueness. 7/10 [KEEP]

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
May 21 2026

I feel it to be significantly inferior to the two major Arcade Fire album, not because it isn't a very consistent album, which it is, but because it lacks all the highlights that make an album memorable. 7/10 [DROP]

May 22 2026

Another of the essential Dylan albums. This is perhaps the best conceived album at the time of its recording, with great storytelling, social criticism and many other redeeming qualities. 10/10 [KEEP]

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
May 23 2026

The magnus opus of Motown sound albums, it is a lush, beautiful, sexy experienced that nonetheless, carries with it meaningful social commentary through very potent symbolism. 10/10 [KEEP]

Superfuzz Bigmuff by Mudhoney
May 24 2026

While this is a better album that their other one in the list, it remains as a nice but not noteworthy listen. I fail to see the importance of such an album which of itself, does not need to be bad. 7/10 [KEEP]

Come Find Yourself by Fun Lovin' Criminals
May 25 2026

Does not bring anything unique to the table. It does not feel as anthemic and meaningful for the culture as other records of its era. 6/10 [DROP]

B-52's by The B-52's
May 26 2026

It was a nice listen which contextualized to what it aims to be, a quirky and fun indie record, makes it be a worthy addition to the list. What separates it from other records of its ilk is that this one contains some highlights (like 'Rock Lobster') which make it standout ever slightly. 7/10 [KEEP]

Unhalfbricking by Fairport Convention
May 27 2026

As a fan of many a british folk rock albums and seeing that my favorite (and FC's best) 'Liege & Lief' is included on this list, I am happy to listen to more of Sandy Denny's in this context. I just hope its inclusion is not at the detriment of John Martyn, Dave Bixby, Richard Thompson or even Spirogyra. There are many worse british albums in this list to get rid of, however. 8/10 [KEEP]

The United States Of America by The United States Of America
May 28 2026

This feels like a momentous record. As abrasive as it is avant-garde, it does pull beyond its first track 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' to offer a very weird yet solid psychedelic experience which is unlike most albums on the genre. 9/10 [KEEP]

Junkyard by The Birthday Party
May 29 2026

For however abrasive and noisy that it gets it does feel like a unique and interesting listen. Will not come back to it often though. 7/10 [KEEP]

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
May 30 2026

As an enjoyer of later era The Cure, in that I prefer their sound in Disintegration than the one they had previously in their Pornography era, this album falls a bit short to my taste. 7/10 [DROP]

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
May 31 2026

This was an acceptable listen. I do not think that the album is able to mix well its cultural influences despite being quite interesting on that regard. 6/10 [DROP]

Bluesbreakers by John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers
Jun 01 2026

A fun and enjoyable album with Eric Clapton at his finest. Lacks having some of his highlights to make the album more of a standout. 8/10 [KEEP]

With The Beatles by Beatles
Jun 02 2026

It was a groundsbreaking album amidst the Beatlemania of its time but it is definitely their weakest in the list. It contains too many covers for its own good and lacks the production and artistry that made their discography shine. 7/10 [DROP]

Sister by Sonic Youth
Jun 03 2026

I was ready to write that I'm on the fence as to whether Sonic Youth deserves more than one album on this list and given that Daydream Nation is the far superior choice, then I would be on the fence about this one and Goo but holy... they got 5 albums?! This is a cool noisy ass listen tho. 8/10 [KEEP?]

The Sounds Of India by Ravi Shankar
Jun 04 2026

I understand the idea of conceiving some album that encapsulates the idea of Indian music and market it to a wider audience. However, out of the albums that I have heard from Ravi, this seems to not be his most grandiose and lush oeuvre, precisely tied to how accessible it sounds. 7/10 [KEEP]

Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan
Jun 05 2026

To my count, this is exactly the fourth best album by the band and the fourth out of the four offered in the list, and while being one of their most fun and groovy record, it lacks the lush tapestry of sounds offered by their later discography as well as their initial two records. All of this to say that while 'Rikki Don't Lose My Number' is a bop, I could do without this record at the end of the day. 8/10 [DROP]

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Jun 06 2026

It is such an energetic album. The politically-themed angst throughout the album is even more so relevant as time passes. 8/10 [KEEP]

Palo Congo by Sabu
Jun 07 2026

I can appreciate the album being unique and out there. Definitely more of what you would expect in this list but that does not take back from the fact that it gets a bit boring after a while. All in all, despite how much of an early influence it might have been, it is far from the best display of afro-cuban music I have heard. 7/10 [SWAP]

The Modern Lovers by The Modern Lovers
Jun 08 2026

It sounds like the continuation of what the Velvet Underground were doing prior. As such, it contains some great highlights as 'Roadrunner', 'Astral Plane' and 'Pablo Picasso' which make the album be memorable throughout. 8/10 [KEEP]

Different Class by Pulp
Jun 09 2026

It feels like an interesting record within a genre that is not always the most interesting out there. It is a joyful record which contains some decent highlights. 7/10 [KEEP]

Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto
Jun 10 2026

Not close to my favorite Bossa Nova album but the genre had to be represented somehow. She has a great voice regardless. 8/10 [KEEP]

Cypress Hill by Cypress Hill
Jun 11 2026

They are on the upper end of enjoyment in terms of 90s hip hop albums. The compositions by DJ Muggz sound so unabashedly from its era which make this album even more so relevant. Overall, a fun and interesting listen but far from their third, 'Temples of Boom'. 7/10 [SWAP]

Jun 12 2026

Unexpected entry in the list. 'Djed' is undoubtedly the highlight here. It is in a weird position because as an album, TNT seems like the obvious choice. However, I really respect the selection. 8/10 [KEEP]

Diamond Life by Sade
Jun 13 2026

It is such a cool album, her soulful singing is carried by the moody instrumentation to create an intimate soundscape. I would probably rather 'Love Deluxe' but this album has the masterpiece single 'Smooth Operator' so it might be perhaps more unmissable. 9/10 [KEEP]

Jun 14 2026

A gem of a record, this is truly an unmistakable album, that definitely stands on its own as a unique experience. It creates a new perspective to Brazilian music, in the hands of a Serbian man who is a testament that great albums can come from the combination of different sounds and cultures. 8/10 [KEEP]

Harvest by Neil Young
Jun 15 2026

This is the quintessential Neil Young album, which is certainly the poster child of country rock albums. It packs some of the heavy hitters in his discography and remains as folksy as it is relevant. Easy 10 and probably one of the best albums of all time. 10/10 [KEEP]

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Jun 16 2026

Went from Neil Young's Harvest to Joni Mitchell's Blue in back-to-back days which to my ears are the two greatest Canadian albums of all time. It is so personal and intimate in its songwriting, while being as delicate and textured musically as it is poetic lyrically. Not much else to say beyond how great her voice is in this record, such a remarkable listen. 10/10 [KEEP]

New Wave by The Auteurs
Jun 17 2026

This is yet another bland and boring Britpop album. There seems to be no superlative redeeming qualities that could make this shine as a landmark album of its time. There is nothing that is specially offensive or terrible, but nothing really sticks out, there is nothing to revisit here. 6/10 [DROP]

First Band On The Moon by The Cardigans
Jun 18 2026

This was a good listen and I believe it is a necessary inclusion as not many female-fronted bands appear in such a list. It reminded me in some of the arrangements to other artists such as Shiina Ringo and Weyes Blood. While it is not an otherworldy record, it feels like a landmark moment somehow. Extra point for not being from the UK. 7/10 [KEEP]

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Jun 19 2026

In the 'Fear of Light' review I alluded to how it and this one are quintessential records of Talking Heads that deserve inclusion (noting that the Stop Making Sense record is also up there). 8/10 [KEEP]

The Band by The Band
Jun 20 2026

It is definitely one of the greatest albums in Americana, and beyond its major hits it remain catchy as hell. 9/10 [KEEP]

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Jun 21 2026

Today is probably the day that I needed the unbridled catharsis that this album provides and I am so thankful to the generator for that. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever conceived. 10/10 [KEEP]

Definitely Maybe by Oasis
Jun 22 2026

In the spite of as much Britpop as there can be contained in this assortment of albums, I would say that this one could best exemplify this era in music. While lacking the hits that their follow-up had, it does however provide a more authentic sound that I believe makes the album more important in the history of music. 8/10 [KEEP]

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Jun 23 2026

Having seen the omission of 'The River' in this list, this album is then the most authentic and cohesive of Bruce's album on the list. It reflects on Springsteen at his peak songwriting form, wherein he takes on a darker sound and draws meaningful parallels with Dylan. 8/10 [KEEP]

Modern Kosmology by Jane Weaver
Jun 24 2026

As noted by many in their reviews, it is an album that tickles many sensitivities, as it combines some Krautrock and psychedelic elements with more of a space rock, dream pop feel. As such, it is sufficiently artsy to be an interesting listen, but does not feel bigger than life in a way that could warrant inclusion into a list such as this one. 8/10 [DROP]

Graceland by Paul Simon
Jun 25 2026

An album that is not without controversy in this era of cultural appropriation, it is nevertheless, an album that shone a light to the South African scene and which by itself, offers a great perspective (though Westernalized) on their culture and sounds. In a list that offers such a narrow view of the world, this is album becomes yet more necessary, and an easy 10/10. 10/10 [KEEP]

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Jun 26 2026

I was left speechless by this. It was probably the album that most exceeded the expectations that I had coming up to it. While being unapologetically socially charged, it does also have catchy lyrics that are made more powerful by the rap delivery, and also organically sampled beats, containing jazz and funk influences that do stand on its own beyond the rest of the album. 9/10 [KEEP]

Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Jun 27 2026

Beside the obvious reason why this album is meaningful as the eponymous track makes or breaks this record, it feels quite bland compared to AC/DC's next record in Back to Black. It is also on the monotonous side with too many songs sounding like a Highway to Hell rip-off. 7/10 [DROP]

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jun 28 2026

A return to form of the Californian band. It is not as brilliant as Pet Sounds by any chance but it offers a darker and more psychedelic glimpse at Brian Wilson's songwriting. The feel it has, with a lesser production makes it feel like a foil to their Magnus Opus. 8/10 [KEEP]

Rust In Peace by Megadeth
Jun 29 2026

Seeing as I am not keen on metal, I want to highlight this album as one of my favorites in the genre. It is fast and dynamic without having many off moments throughout. 8/10 [KEEP]

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Jun 30 2026

The masterpiece of the Canadian lyricist, which is not grandiose either in lyrics or in musical complexity, but offers a great insight into young Cohen's state of mind. The arrangements are nothing extraordinary and his voice is not his forte but despite all of that, the lush imagery of concrete images provides a very tangible and evocative experience. 9/10 [KEEP]

En-Tact by The Shamen
Jul 01 2026

It is not awful by any means but there is no world where this album could be considered essential. I have heard much lower lows in other albums but I am not seeing any worthy high. 6/10 [DROP]

Raising Hell by Run-D.M.C.
Jul 02 2026

Very fun and dynamic! It is one of the major classics of hip hop. While the beats are not extraordinary, it has some anthemic moments and the lyricism is fun all along. 7/10 [KEEP]

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jul 03 2026

After a week of apalling or uninteresting records to listen, the randomizer gives me an opportunity to delve further into the discography of Siouxsie which is something I had wanted to do in a while. This is a solid debut record and has some of their greatest hits. I do still find it inferior to Juju and Kaleidoscope but it is a good moment in their discography. 7/10 [SWAP]

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Jul 04 2026

Whilst not his best performance, and far in quality from his live work, it is still one of the most significant albums in history. For that alone, it does deserve some recognition. 8/10 [KEEP]

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Jul 05 2026

Unbeatable in the pantheon of Southern Rock music. It has some of the greatest guitar riffs and pays good respect to blues music. 9/10 [KEEP]

Tapestry by Carole King
Jul 06 2026

It feels like such an important album. Carole King should be regarded at the uppermost echelon of songwriters. Some would prefer other covers of her songs here and there, but there is a simplicity, a feel for intimacy that makes the whole. 10/10 [KEEP]

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jul 07 2026

The greatest moments of one of the most iconic supergroups in music history. It really does shine and showcase each of their strengths individually. 10/10 [KEEP]

Os Mutantes by Os Mutantes
Jul 08 2026

This is one of the albums that I would have envisioned going into this list. Not only it brings a unique flavor to Psychedelia but does so while providing a very solid collection of songs in an album that is truly well thought out. 9/10 [KEEP]

Suede by Suede
Jul 09 2026

Very pleasantly surprised with this record. Among the unending list of drab britpop within this list, this album is a cool listen that embraces some Glam Rock and Psychedelia moments to be something more than another the Smiths-ripoff. 8/10 [KEEP]

Jul 10 2026

It is a fun and unapologetic collection of songs from rap extraordinaire LL Cool J. While undeniably the role that LL Cool J had in rap's infancy, it does suffer a bit from being dated and repetitive. 7/10 [DROP]

Ramones by Ramones
Jul 11 2026

It's cool, it's energetic, it's catchy. Overall, a very fun listen and a great first album that is very representative of its genre. 7/10 [KEEP]

Countdown To Ecstasy by Steely Dan
Jul 12 2026

While less unique in sound than their debut or their masterpiece in Aja, I do believe this album is the one to best embody their sound. Between the yacht rock snippets and the bona fide masterpieces there is an album with a great attention to instrumentation and which leads to a lush experience. 9/10 [KEEP]

Smash by The Offspring
Jul 13 2026

This was a very confounding listen for me. It did feel like it was going to be this countercultural ska-punk album that did not quite get there and was going to be quite dated by this point but for however basic it felt at times it does just work I guess. It was a solid listen. 7/10 [SWAP]

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jul 14 2026

Sometimes I tend to think it is overrated. This may be due to the fact that it feels more accessible than Kid A which somehow makes not be as raw and genuine. But then I listen to it and I get reminded of how good this is. 10/10 [KEEP]

Abraxas by Santana
Jul 15 2026

One of the must have albums in this type of list. It is a concise, powerful and psychedelic rock album that very tastefully intertwines Latin sounds and themes. 9/10 [KEEP]

21 by Adele
Jul 16 2026

One of my harshest reviews on this list up to this point was that of 25, which I find to be the weakest of Adele's discography. In turn, this album comprises many memorable songs, even beyond the more obvious hits. 7/10 [KEEP]

Smile by Brian Wilson
Jul 17 2026

It is an inclusion I expected and an album that definitely has a lot of artistic merit despite not being as great by the end as Brian Wilson envisioned. Its unfinished business gives it some interesting feel that make it be a cool musical snippet. However, I would much rather listen to 'the Smile Sessions'. 7/10 [DROP]

Moving Pictures by Rush
Jul 18 2026

While not being my favourite album in Rush's discography, they remain one of Prog greats and it displays very good highlights with very impressive drumming and synth work throughout. It is very dynamic and this makes it be a cool listen that is much more accessible that some of the rest of their discography. As there are some glaring omissions in Prog Rock, I might swap it for a different album in my own list. 8/10 [SWAP?]

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Jul 20 2026

One of the worthy inclusions of its era. Despite the many versions of this album and similar ones available online, any iteration of Delta Blues hits would result in a worthwhile inclusion. 7/10 [KEEP]

In Utero by Nirvana
Jul 21 2026

It is the harrowing and gritty twin of the accessible and anthemic Nevermind sort of like Kid A is to OK Computer. It has an abrasive aesthetic that sounds like musical despair and which makes the album all the more impacful but, witbout taking any of its merit, it is not my vibe. 8/10 [KEEP]

Achtung Baby by U2
Jul 22 2026

One of the two great U2 albums with 'The Joshua Tree', it reprenents a change of pace with the inclusion or electronic sounds and influences under the guidance of Brian Eno. The highlights are super recognisable amd iconic but lacks some polish to round out the record. 9/10 [KEEP]

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Jul 23 2026

This album was a good change of pace as I expected it to not have much beyond its main single 'Take Me Out' but it ended up being a solid record throughout. 8/10 [KEEP]

Billion Dollar Babies by Alice Cooper
Jul 24 2026

I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. It is as fun and dynamic as it is catchy. It feels like an attempt at a glam rock opera in some sort of way and I'm all here for it. 8/10 [KEEP]

The Doors by The Doors
Jul 25 2026

The most iconic debut in rock history. It contains many quintessential songs that reflect on the genius of Jim Morrison. Too bad their discography could not keep up to their debut. 10/10 [KEEP]

Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
Jul 26 2026

For as much as this album can be simple or cheesy, I find it to a major staple of its genre. It is as anthemic and energetic as it is fun. I do prefer as an experience his follow-up 'New Jersey' but this does somehow work as a collection of bangers. 7/10 [KEEP]

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Jul 27 2026

Nina was such a great artist. It is a travesty that she was only chosen to have a mere album on this list as the cultural relevancy of her work. While I do think that 'Pastel Blues' is the superior album, her harrowing vocals express her full range of emotions throughout this beautiful collection of songs that is fully representative of her range and prowess as a singer. 10/10 [KEEP]

Imagine by John Lennon
Jul 28 2026

While Lennon was clearly a musical genius, he profited from the Beatles to make more focused records, whereas in his solo career he went more experimental, with some major duds along the way. In this one, however, I do still feel the highlights make the album remain interesting. 8/10 [KEEP]

Ritual De Lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction
Jul 29 2026

Much more psychedelic and groovy that it is sometimes given credit for. It is ambitious at points without sounding overly cheesy and there is a great instrumentation throughout. 9/10 [KEEP]

Make Yourself by Incubus
Jul 30 2026

It gives me some nostalgia of that late nineties sound but without sounding particularly dated. I really appreciated the scratching melodies as they sounded really tasteful throughout. 7/10 [KEEP]

Jul 31 2026

Rich atmospheres, cool instrumentation that is reminiscent of other genres in an album that feels very enticing. It does feel like it is missing something to deserve inclusion in this list. 7/10 [DROP]

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Aug 01 2026

This is Supertramp at their absolute best, in an album that is dynamic, with interesting melodies and cool instrumentation. I believe that they never went out to make an uber ambitious record and it really is a shame because albums such as this make me feel that they were just a great conceptual idea away from making one of the best albums of all time. 9/10 [KEEP]

Violator by Depeche Mode
Aug 02 2026

Such a well-produced record. It is a masterpiece that incorporates a very good synth work to build a very dark aesthetic that is not represented better by any album in existence. 9/10 [KEEP]

Paris 1919 by John Cale
Aug 03 2026

It is not the most noteworthy of albums and has the disadvantage of being immediately compared with other records of the Velvet Underground discography. I would keep it barely on the list. 7/10 [KEEP]

Ten by Pearl Jam
Aug 04 2026

One of those albums that i had not given much thought to previously, even when knowing how well acclaimed it was and it left me dumbfounded for not having listened to it much previously. Truly solid record that is very representative of the grunge movement. 9/10 [KEEP]

I'm Your Man by Leonard Cohen
Aug 05 2026

Clearly the weakest of Cohen's in the list, it is not without its highlights in 'Everybody Knows' and mainly, the opener 'First We Take Manhattan'. However, it is of the bunch of his albums here the one I'd be less interested to listen at any given time. 8/10 [DROP]

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Aug 06 2026

This is the epitome of 90s music. It is a very meaningful record which certainly includes a lot of key influences for an album whose musicianship shines. 9/10 [KEEP]

Brown Sugar by D'Angelo
Aug 07 2026

If this ranking was merely done off singing ability, he would undoubtedly attain a five-star score but the album is somewhat boring in the whole. On that context, I would sub it by his masterpiece 'Voodoo' which offers a much more interesting experience. 7/10 [SWAP]

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Aug 08 2026

The album is deservedly lauded as one of the greatest debuts of all time, and even more so because of the tragic circumstances of his death. It is a truly beautiful record, with interesting guitar arrangements, personal songwriting, and raw delivery, but feels a bit formulaic. Big props for the transcendental 'Hallelujah' cover. 8/10 [KEEP]

The Last Of The True Believers by Nanci Griffith
Aug 09 2026

Her voice is very mellowing and there is a great range of instrumentation. The album is a solid old country record, but nothing too extraordinary all the same. 7/10 [KEEP]

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 10 2026

This is a hauntingly beautiful record, and one in which for the first time in his discography Nick Cave is not only trying to sound dark but is also able to effectively convey a certain imagery that makes the album dark and melancholic tone really shine. 9/10 [KEEP]

This is the clear-cut masterpiece from David Bowie, so often called a chameleon for his ability to impersonate different musical personas across his musical career, but here he just shines at his brightest, and feels the most authentic in an album where nothing feels out of place. 10/10 [KEEP]

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Aug 12 2026

It is a very solid performance from Tina, where her voice and artistry feel center stage and through which she offers banger after banger. Some of the covers and the general feel of the dated production might make this album slightly less grandiose. 8/10 [KEEP]

Central Reservation by Beth Orton
Aug 13 2026

Very eclectic folksy record which draws frpm several influences folktronica, downtempo... to offer a mild yet rewarding listen. 7/10 [KEEP]

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band

It is a very groovy experience with very groovy bongo covers of popular songs. It does feel like a very sampleable record which makes it an even more interesting listen. 7/10 [KEEP]

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Aug 15 2026

The poster child of Bossa Nova, it is a super memorable listen that is able to maximize the talents of each of the four geniuses behind these tracks. It's A Shame About Ray by The Lemonheads
