This is an awesome NWOBHM thrash/power metal collection of songs. Only 'United' lets it down. Otherwise it's a 4. Very good.

I see a few glimmers of good ideas but it's all too dull and more than ever convinces me Primal Scream are what indie kids think rock and dance should sound like.

Way too criticised for going commercial. Yes its more pop orientated but the atmosphere and sound is fantastic and the song writing is solid.

'Big sur' is glorious pop. The rest of the album is half decent, half throwaway but it has a great vibe.

RFTC are better on 'live from camp x Ray' for me which has more ska and rockabilly. But this is still a decent blast of punk rock n roll 90's style.

Iconic classic band sound that has endured for decades but at the end of the day these songs are only good for a month and are about snowmen and reindeer.

Some really good heavy metal which I wasn't expecting. The musicians are on great early form here. The OTT vocals, operatic themes and bombastic production Queen use doesn't do anything for me but it's in the minority here.

This took time for me to understand and appreciate but it's really great when it's good and a little underwhelming otherwise.

Starts with a bang. Exciting guitar and sounding like an alternative rock Weezer. However it starts to get bogged down and samey with less rock and more pop. Also it's way too long?? Could have been good.

2nd album I've had by Harvey and she just doesn't do much for me. It's ok alternative rock but the music lacks depth, it's repetitive and the guitars plod.

Classic rock with 'immigrant song' and 'since I've been loving you'. Mixed with mystical folk Zep. Loads of great stuff on here. Enjoyed it more than 2 and 4 which surprised me.

It's ok. It's Morrisey and it's the 4th solo album I've had by him on here? Massive over representation. So marks down for that and it's not his strongest era.

As always it's hit and miss with Radiohead post Kid A but this is more bleak and weaker than the excellent 'in rainbows'.

First 3 tracks are outstanding. The rest doesn't really work and is too experimental but it shows how good they are when they stick to mainstream rock writing.

Ryan Adams is a good writer and performer but he doesn't have his own identity. He apes others with a lot of variety and no direction.

My favourite Bowie album to date. It's strong and consistent. 'Moonage daydream' is epic. Lots of classic moments. But I'm not a fan of the OTT theatrical style and so will never love a Bowie album.

Standard Beck. An eclectic mix with some brilliant tracks and some misses. E- pro and missing are fantastic.

Hugely influential punk rock album. Straight edge and DIY can be contributed to these boys. Some great stuff but repetitive as is the common fault with hardcore.

I obviously don't like Americana and country because I read excellent reviews for this but it does nothing for me.

Apparently this band were hugely influential but it's hard to even find the album and I suspect their legend has grown and been exaggerated as it's nowhere near as exciting as billed.

This is my 310th review and my first 5/5. That's all that needs to be said.

Their best album. It can be a tough listen in full and I think needs some bass to counter the shrill, but it's still great. Art indie punk rock. Band are on top form.

First 2 tracks are fantastic, it can't maintain that level and starts to become samey. This is pre prime Blur but the following year then would drop 'parklife'.

I just don't get it. A few moments of inspiration surrounded by novelty nonsense. This may have been great at the time but as a work of music now it's pants.

This is my kind of live album. A band lost in the moment playing elongated space rock. Can see where Kyuss and Monster Magnet got their best ideas from.

Really strong album of New Romantic pop. The bass and production techniques stand out immediately and it has a couple of genuine classics on it.

Immediate album with hooks and musical flourishes. First half of the album is very strong. This is a better Roxy music, and shades of REM and Bowie. Really nice surprise.

One of the last great indie albums. It's technically good, it's got humour and it's got singalongs.

Hated this. It may have been cool in 1960's California but today it sounds like dated dad rock with no redeeming features.

For me groove metal Sepultura > thrash metal Sepultura. It's all played with power and precision but it's too pedal to the metal for me. This lacks the dynamics of the brilliant 'chaos AD'.

I just can't stand them then...... I like some Celtic folk and rock but not this.

Wow. A psychedelic concept album full of 60's Brit pop, mental childish narration, and old musical hall theatre, it's bloody great.

Ugh this sucks.

It's just so dull and average. The tracks are so hard to differentiate from each other. This is in because it's Alex Turner and not on merit.

'Keep the car running' and 'intervention' are great songs. They produce that euphoric Arcade fire high. Unfortunately this album isn't as consistently strong as either 'funeral' or 'the suburbs' so make this a decent but distant 3rd best in their catalogue.

An important album but not a great one. I hate 'fight for your right' but there are some good rhymes and beats here with nicely placed guitar chords.

Just pretty plain meat and potatoes glam rock. It's ok,... but yeah. That's about it.

Lots of ideas here but it's all much of a muchness and I am not interested in returning to it.

Decent slab of Bowie/Eno late 70's electronic rock. All passable but nothing remarkable. 'Dum dum boys' is good. I think I've rated every Iggy Pop record 3/5 and thought 'it's ok'.

I misremembered these. I could have sworn they were punky indie pop. But they are massive Blur copyists. Half of it is ok and half is not. It's all just another Brit pop record though.

This is heavy blues/pysch rock but despite it's influence and importance as an early hard rock album it's not got strong songs or jams.

This is rap in its earliest form, minimalist beats and loops with stilted rhyming. Unfortunately as important as it is it doesn't stand up in 2026.

Some fantastic hooks and production. The first 5 tracks are strong and it's heading towards a 4 rating but the back end drags. Really good band though. Cool cover and name too.

I was underwhelmed by this. The Cure are a great act with a brilliant back catalogue whereas this is just solid.

Some great segments of music and some nice songwriting but as ever with glam rock I'm just left thinking it's ok...
