There was cool stuff on here but I think they thought a lot of the hooks were a lot better than they actually were

The longest I’ve sat on a record was for this right here. I wanted it to be the perfect album from one of the greatest bands of all time, but it’s not. The album varies in quality. Not every song is up to the standards set by the rest of the songs but to have an album that consistent would be nearly unattainable. This doesn’t mean the lows are low, it just means the highs are so high like holy fuuuuckkkkk😩😩😩. Every member of this band is so fucking good going back to listen to each individual member is such a rewarding task. Crazy melodic shredding with heavy blues influence and psychedelic overtones, Bonhams ridiculous drumming with his own solo track in the vein of rat salad, bass you can actually hear and have take the lead at times(going back some of the tracks it sounds like he’s soloing the entire time.) I can’t help but duck ride the musicianship in this band they’re so good. A gold standard for dad rock. Although imperfect this is a must listen no matter what because these guys have so many fun ideas and manage to all take the lead while working off each other perfect. Not listening to this would be a disservice, like you don’t already know a bunch of this shit lmaooo

The first return of pj Harvey could not catch my attention so it will join the ever growing collection of albums that I will completely disregard

Cyndis a pretty cool chick and I was surprised I recognized as many songs as I did. This album really feels like a novelty because of how obvious it is that it was a product from the era that it is, but it’s a fun one

I listened to this one walking through the city at night really drunk. At the time it felt like the perfect thing so I’ll just remember it as it was in those and never return for the sake of preserving its legacy

Man I like the singer of this band and like 50 percent of the instruments but I feel like rems stuff isn’t connecting with me. Nothing is really sticking out for me aside from the hits and they need to drop the mandolin ffs

This album was a real test of strength considering it’s an hour. At first it sounded like that guy at the open mic before mordecai and the rigbys but occasionally I’d be like oh shit is this about to get interesting then it didn’t

This things only 45 minutes and 5 songs, two of those being 15 minute guitar solos so there legit no room for error. I don’t usually like ridiculously long guitar solos but these ones are real emotional and the couple song they wedge between em are so solid so the structure of the album is the most standout thing but it’s really interesting and it works

This is Jeff’s album and I feel like there’s a good amount where he really shines through but sometimes he kinda phones it in which he can’t really afford to because phoning it in is his bands job. Highs are high enough that imma call this one a really light three

This isn’t usually my type of stuff but I just got super relaxed when I was listening to this. All the features and different “country person” styles were cool to hear all in one project and it sway from a hootin hollerin good time to a rootin tootin good time with everything in between

Very much early 80s pop music. Like the soundtrack for a cheesy 80s movie which doesn’t seem to specific of a definition cause that could be any cheesy 80s pop but it’s just that you could swap it with any other and not notice

Falls in the category of Bowie albums I consider too experimental and I’m not gonna listen to it again. Many songs where it’s just instrumentals and I think he leaves himself off the album as much as he does on purpose but I’m not gonna fw it just cause it’s different

Almost nu metal at times but then you also got stuff like drive, and the guy who sings drive. I felt like the vocals really collided with some of the instrumentals on this if I had to use a metaphors it’s like casting Topher Grace to play Venom.

The goal of music is to evoke emotion, and the strongest emotion of them all… is fear. Scary sounding album and not one that I’d put on if I wanted to jam out to some good music but I’d put it on just cause I wanted to listen to it cause it has such a strong vibe, real weird and kinda scary but oozing with personality. My homie Roman’s kinda music

This albums dope, it has that balance I love of having a darker sound with serious themes but not letting itself be taken to seriously with some goofin around with goofy instrumentals or vocal inflections or bars. Even with these lighter moments it still lets the serious parts do their thing they don’t feel undercut. Such an honest and inspired record, awesome instrumentals especially those fucking killer drums. My favorite Bowie album. The best

Feels like some old man stadium rock. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, no not at all, just not for me

It was interesting how every song was like a minute long but I feel like something like that works better with a band like cannibal corpse because that kind of heavy music doesn’t really need multiple transitions or layers. With songs like these that aren’t totally incomprehensible and fast paced in style it makes it seem like they had a bunch of good sounding ideas but no way to connect them, the genre collides with the style

He’s on some shit call him the fly. Sounds like a wu solo venture but man I wish rza would’ve learned how to play the instruments he got scattered all over this things some of the instrumentals sound like a kid made em, bowsers castle sounding beats

Corny

Soundtrack to child abduction. Creepy in a scary way, like a dark figure waiting around the corner to grab you with long bony fingers, whispery/whiny vocals, funky grooves, lots of talk of rape, edgy, korny, and absurd in an unironic way that has aged like fine wine within the view of shitpost humor. Plagued with a considerable amount of mid, tracks without distinguished melodies, grooves, or subject matter show up throughout, though the korn style is present they can feel like dollar store versions of better work.

Adele’s voice is awesome, super pretty and very strong. The showcase of what she is capable of is the most impressive thing here, but she doesn’t do enough with it to keep it interesting. Her melodies aren’t super interesting and most of the album is sad melancholic piano with her going quiet then erupting into the highest high she can get. Her vocal ability is impressive and that doesn’t come as a surprise, but nothing on this album does

Vibrant collection of sounds. Each beat has so much character and layers on layers so that even the most laid back tracks have a million little things to catch hidden in the mix. The beats sound like they were thrifted how each fit is completely original. Choruses are so memorable and just like the beats, very versatile. Lots of sexy soul, lots of aggressive rap. All perfectly matched with the themes of the song. These guys have a knack for creating a concept for a song and sticking to it in every aspect. Insanely fun and full of character. This album is wild

This album fucking blowwwss unghh. It’s like a dollar tree version of the cure. Like a Midwest cover and you find in a busted ass bar that does the whole new wave style with a little twang, but is somehow styleless while also derivative of a far superior band. Holy fuuuuuuck

Very rock and roll. Anti establishment, threatening the American way of life just as the Beatles have always done. Hidden behind the most American sounds with ragtime piano, twangy guitars, and sauntering blues riffs. With some of that experimentation that can bring a childish, playful vibe , or could add nothing at all but the presence of what could be considered a gimmick for a track or two. Perfectly concise to the point where when it’s over you’ll have gotten just enough, but wishing you could have just a little more.

A good time if you just want to hang out and listen to some melodic soloing over some country/desert rock/white rabbit type beats

This girls a creep!! Creepy and weird. This one’s too abstract for me, it’s all too loose to the point like yes I’ll call it music cause that’s what it is and what it’s intended to be but I think a lot of people wouldn’t find this aligns with their definition(I’m making up the they). Feels like laying on your back in a quiet, spinning room with a wicked hangover.

An album that deserves all the dick riding. So grand and loud but also quiet and empty. Everything seems so intentional, even the tracks that are nothing but empty space find a way to belong. Fantastic, spacey, cavernous, psychedelic

My problem with this genre as a whole is that it can be so incredibly passive. At times it takes minor things like guitar solos and changes in the instrumental to get away from that half time beat/upstroke on the and but still relies on a catchy melody to make itself stand out(like with the rest of the genre.) It has its moments but not enough to separate itself from the collective of passive music

This thing feels like it was made in someone’s bedroom, they had their electronic instrument and used every single sound available on the thing, but in a good fun way like on Bucky done gun the shitty horns sound like they belong on a flash game. Lots of good throwback sounds and it’s so absurd it would fit in with modern dance music. Not so hidden messages in the lyrics but since pulling apart lyrics isn’t my thing I’d say it’s just a really cool idea.
